Lovely option for a stay in New Haven

4.2 on June 21, 2017

Not far from Yale, in a quiet neighborhood. Nicely appointed rooms, especially those with en-suite bathrooms. Tea, coffee & cookies available all afternoon. Nice freshly cooked breakfast.

Perfect for our trip to New Haven!

4.2 on June 06, 2017

We slept in a bedroom on the third floor. There was a shared bathroom, but we had no problem having to wait for it. Loved that we could choose our breakfast time. Proprietor and staff were pleasant but not over-present. Close to parks and coffee shops. Will return!

Lovely all around

Room quality, comfort, cleanliness was excellent. Lovely house with beautiful grounds. Proprieter is a wonderful host. Breakfast is good quality food but is limited in choices and continental menu.

Charming, comfy stay in New Haven

4.0 on April 22, 2017

I recently stayed at Farnam Guest House while attending a conference at Yale, and then another night with my spouse and 12-year-old daughter. This was a lovely, historical, comfortable guest house in a safe and quiet part of New Haven, 20-minute walk from campus. Our room, the Daniel Orr, was spacious, nicely decorated with antiques, and beds were very comfortable. Breakfast is outstanding and gracious, served with silver and crystal, and our fellow guests were invariably interesting. Coffee and tea available in the dining room whenever you want. Highly recommend. Caveats: I could not find the free bottled water mentioned on the info sheet, and our room had a number of wall patches that needed painting. Also no heat the first night, but lots of blankets in the room, so no problem.

Beautiful stay

We visited New Haven and stayed at the Farnam Guest House for only one night. We wanted to visit Yale University. The Guest House was lovely. The athmosphere was welcoming and the room was so pretty. We had a wonderful stay. We sure would recommand it.

Third time's charm

4.4 on November 02, 2016

This was my third stay at the Farnam Guest House. The rooms are always comfortable and cozy -- and graciously-sized. Lovely and clean; feels like a home away from home. Staff is unobtrusive, but effective. The owner, Elizabeth has twice gone out of her way to accommodate me when I have been in a tight spot. I have family in New Haven and am starting to think of this as my home away from home.

Innkeeper Response
I am always happy to assist wherever I can! Please come again.

The BEST place to stay in New Haven!

5 on October 05, 2016

We love this home and will most certainly return. The rooms are beautiful and quiet! The food delicious, the service spectacular; Maria, who took care of us during our stay was a most gracious hostess. Elizabeth loves her home and enjoys entertaining guests. We felt as though we were friends visiting from out of town :) If you enjoy the Bed and Breakfast experience then this is one that should not be missed! Thank you for our wonderful two night stay.

Innkeeper Response
Wow! This is the best review I think I have ever had! Thank you so much. I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay. May God bless you richly!!

Farnam Guest House review

3.6 on September 11, 2016

This is a very nice place, although the location was farther and more inaccessible to downtown New Haven and Yale than we had been led to believe. Access to the property was easy and well explained in the email, but the lighting outside to access the entry code is poor, and without a flashlight was difficult to use. The rooms are comfortable, although our room had a small and challenging shower. The owner and staff are very pleasant and accommodating, especially with food requests.

Innkeeper Response
Actually all our advertizing says we are 1.25 miles from downtown which is true. But that distance takes a good 35-40 minutes to walk. Thank you for reminding me of the lighting out front. I have repaired the spotlight which shines on the numbers and the lights that frame the entry way. It looks quite pretty now.
