Exceptional Food and Service

5 on November 05, 2017

I've stayed at the Briar Rose Bed and Breakfast three times now, and each time I receive exemplary service. The staff go out of their way to accommodate every need. For example, they fed me breakfast on the day that I was checking in (even though check-in isn't until the afternoon), and they also prepared a special to-go breakfast for me on the day I departed (at 5am)!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you so very much for your great review! I am so glad you enjoyed your stay, and that we were able to take care of you from the moment you arrived in Boulder! We never want our guests wandering around town with no place to go! When our guests arrive in Boulder on check-in day, we want them to come right to the Briar Rose, and let us welcome them with tea and hospitality! And then on check-out day, we want to be our guest's home base until it's time to leave town. If our guest's flight doesn't leave until nine at night, they can leave their bags and have fun in Boulder, and then return to the Rose to relax, meditate or visit with us for tea before heading off to DIA! Or like in your case, with an early departure, we'll make you a great breakfast to go. Again, I appreciate your review, and I really hope it encourages future guests not to hesitate to arrive early. When you stay at the Briar Rose, you are welcomed with open arms anytime! Please enjoy your travels, and we will look forward to seeing you the next time you are in Boulder! Carly S. Perfect Stay in Boulder

5 on October 10, 2017

I really loved this place. We felt at home immediately. Upon arrival we were offered an assortment of teas and French pressed coffee and cookies. We sat by the fire in the living room. Later in the evening I was allowed to do yoga in the Meditation room - and I had it all to myself. I would definitely stay here again! We had an early flight the next morning and they even made us breakfast to go.

Innkeeper Response
How lovely to read your review. Thank you so much for taking the time to let folks know about your experience. I am so pleased that you were able to utilize our amazing Meditation Room. It is such a special place, like a little piece of Heaven on Earth. I am also glad you enjoyed our delicious organic coffees and amazing tea selections, as well as our Breakfast To-Go. I am always disappointed when guests are unable to join us for breakfast, so having the to-go option is so important to allow you to at least in some way get to experience our breakfasts. We really look forward to seeing you the next time you are in the area, and upon your return, I do hope we can succeed in providing you another enjoyable stay! Travel Safely and Happily Carly S. Nice but too pricey for accomodations

3.2 on September 12, 2017

Noisy construction projects on site throughout stay. We were not told about this before or during our stay. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Good location. Good breakfast and cookies.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for taking time to review our property. I am so sorry that your stay was impacted by the work we were having done on the property. If you do ever stay with us again, please let me know right away of any concerns, as our guests are ALWAYS our number one priority, and I may have sent the workers away-and rescheduled them-particularly since it was something that effected your experience with us. Unfortunately with a house that is over 150 years old, we are always needing to work on our facility to make sure that it stays beautiful and functioning, and scheduling these project is a challenge, but minimizing guest impact is of the most importance, and I am terribly disappointed that we did not succeed in this during your stay. The great news is that we have now almost all of our completed our projects for the year, of course, not all were done during your stay, but guests can rest assured that we will not being doing any big projects for a while. We now have Solar Panels installed, a new back porch, new kitchen butcher block counters, a new beautiful fireplace and all brand new high-end mattresses, as well as many other exterior upgrades and improvements. I do want to assure you that, moving forward, I will make a greater effort to fully appreciate the extent of what each project might entail and I will do a better anticipating the challenges these projects can present our guests. Additionally, in the future, even if it is a small project, I will inform each guest before their stay, as our goal is for every guest to enjoy all of what we have to offer. And peace and quiet are part of the package. Again, I sincerely apologize for not meeting your expectations during your stay with us, but I do hope you will give us another opportunity to provide the best service in our normally peaceful bed and breakfast. I appreciate your your review, and I do hope we will have an opportunity to welcome you again--this time with no projects happening during your stay! Carly S. Better Than Home!

5 on August 24, 2017

My husband and I stayed at the Briar Rose B&B for 5 nights during the month of August. The room was very comfortable and quiet, as well as having a lovely view of the garden. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we loved the organic shampoo, soaps and lotions that were provided. The wifi worked well and it was nice to have an air conditioner in the room and the AC was both quiet and efficient. Carly and staff prepared a delicious breakfast every morning and they were always very warm and kind and spoiled us rotten! The common rooms of the house were very comfortable and inviting with plenty of sunshine streaming in and lots of comfortable seating areas in which to relax or visit with other guests. The staff took such good care of us, it was hard to leave! We will happily stay there again the next time we are in Boulder

Innkeeper Response
Thank you so much for your kind review. We loved having you with us, and I am so very happy that you enjoyed your stay! I do hope you can forgive the ridiculous length of time it took me to reply to your lovely comments about our staff and property- as you can imagine, I am one busy lady- attempting each and everyday to give our guests the very best, but that is no excuse. I so appreciate the time you took to review our property, and I cannot wait for you to return to stay once again, and I really look forward to providing you a stay that is just as great as your recent one. Very interesting, quiet 150 year old house with appended Zen center. Although there were about 12 other guests, we never ran into any of them except at mealtime. Fantastic breakfast with choice of Rishi teas. Staff bends over backwards to serve and help out at all times. If we want tea & snacks mid afternoon, they will happily provide. Staff extremely friendly, accommodating, and familial. Quiet neighborhood within walking distance of stores, restaurants, farmers' market, and Pearl St. Mall.

Innkeeper Response

GREAT hospitality!!!

We felt SO welcomed! Wonderful hospitality, food, tea, comfort, coziness, landscaping, location!!! And...one of the many reasons we chose Briar Rose - proximity to a B-Cycle station!

Innkeeper Response

Wonderful experience!

I could really have a great time for spending here at Briar Rose. The atmosphere and environment was very nice and beautiful. The stuff was very kind and charming. The healthy meal and a lot of kinds of tea were both fabulous! And also I was very surprised there was a meditation room here. I'm really into it Zen and I was happy to mediate in this quiet place. I felt some kind of spiritual in this house. I really want to visit here again. Kaori Koizumi from Japan.

3-night stay at Briar Rose

3.4 on August 05, 2017

This is a lovely b&b in a convenient central location. The gardens are very restful and pleasant, and the rooms are comfortable (if a bit dated). This was my second stay here because I liked it so much the first time, but I'm not sure I will stay here on my next visit. The staff was very pleasant, but not at all attentive to guests. No one offered me tea (which they did several times at my first visit), at breakfast I had to ask them to refill my coffee cup (they did not offer to do it automatically, and the girls seemed to be more interested in talking to each other than serving the guests), and no one tidied my room after the first night (I didn't leave my room until noon, and didn't get back until the housekeepers had left for the day). These are minor things, but so different from the first time I stayed there that I thought it was worth mentioning.

Great B&B! Comfy beds, very clean, and delicious breakfasts!

I would definitely stay here again. Short drive to the heart of Boulder, and close to everything else. The people that work there are so nice it felt like you were a guest in someone's home.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you so much for your review! I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay, and most importantly, I am so happy you felt at home. That is precisely how we want you to feel, and I hope we can welcome you to the Briar Rose again someday soon! Sincerely, Carly S. General Manager

Exactly what we needed!

4.4 on July 25, 2017

We had a great stay! We stayed in a room upstairs in the separate house. It was a very good size. The shower was a little cramped, but overall fine. The staff is very friendly, and breakfast was quite good - especially when they made mushrooms with a red pepper sauce one of the mornings (that was my favorite). The homemade granola with fruit and yogurt was amazing - I could have eaten it all day. Everyone we encountered who works there is friendly and accommodating. It was so relaxing to hang out in the front garden with tea and cookies, which are always available. We also made use of the complimentary computers and printer when we realized we needed to print out tickets for a concert we were attending, so we were thankful for that amenity. We were visiting my in-laws who live about a half mile away, and we had a very easy walk to visit them and an easy walk into town. Perfectly located, good price, good breakfast - exactly what we needed!

Innkeeper Response

About the innkeepers

We have owned the Rose (the business) since July, 2004. Today the Rose reflects our slightly eclectic blend of East and West - the Rose may now best be described as "Zen/Victorian-light". Most importantly, the Rose reflects our values of taking care of whoever walks in the door. We are fortunate to have a delightful staff of friendly and hardworking young people. Jessika ran the Rose day-to-day until Natalie came along in 2013 (finally!). (The photo was taken in 2014 on a vacation of our own.)
