Katherine and Bruce are welcoming, helpful and entertaining hosts. From the daily 5:30 Social hour to the Gourmet breakfasts, all your needs and wishes are handled seamlessly. We stayed in the absolutely charming Mary Chestnut bedroom; large, filled with antiques and totally charming. Actually, all 4 bedrooms are large and lovely. The place has history and you feel it and just give into it.
This was our 3rd visit to the Bloomsbury Inn. The Bloomsbury Inn is truly the best of the best. Amazing house rich in history, beautifully decorated, well maintained. Host Bruce and Katherine are wonderful. They want and strive to make every quest feel welcome. They go above and beyond and you can not leave without thinking "I can't wait to come back" Ronnie and Judy Vicars
I recently walked across the state of South Carolina, 260 miles, to raise money and awareness for the children of Bwa Chandel, Haiti. I spent one night at The Bloomsbury Inn when I passed through beautiful Camden, My room and bath offered incredible comfort for my road weary self. I am very happy I treated myself to one night of comfort in a grueling two week trek, Breakfast sustained me the next day as did the memory of a lovely evening.
We greatly enjoyed our visit and were really impressed with everything. We particularly liked the way our hosts provided us with background history and a detailed description of where all of the wonderful food came from (mostly local farms)
They have thought of everything to welcome, exceed expectations, and pamper. The home is beautifully decorated and accessorized. Everything is of great quality and well maintained. So many little touches that make their home head and shoulders above the rest. I didn't realize what others places lacked until coming here. And, Camden is adorable. We love walking around the town, hearing of the house/town history, and there are fantastic dining options. Breakfast was superb, exactly what you'd expect from Kathrine and Bruce who make a point of doing everything well. We came to Camden specifically to stay at Bloomsbury and it exceeded our expectations.
My wife and I live in Spartanburg, SC and planned a weekend away to relax and explore our home state. The weeks preceding the trip were incredibly busy and neither of us had time to properly plan and prepare for our trip. Katherine and Bruce took over and suggested a full range of activities and scheduled our dinner reservations for us! It was all handled for us and made our experience flawless. We had dinner on the water at Boykin Mill, a historic carriage ride from the steps of Bloomsbury and so much more. The social hour was a great time to unwind and relax as well as prepare for the next day. The breakfasts were the highlight of our trip and we could tell Katherine has learned her craft from the best! You will NOT be disappointed with any length of stay here!
We had a most wonderful B&B experience at Bloomsbury Inn. There was not a thing that we needed to ask for, Bruce and Katherine went well above and beyond to make sure that our 2 day visit was memorable. We attended the "Carolina Cup" with their friends and had a most exciting first time experience of that event. The breakfasts were Gourmet and exquisite - thank you so much.
This property sits on 300 gorgeous acres with 5 ponds. We stayed in the Prince Albert room and it faces east with a beautiful balcony. It was gorgeous to wake up to the sun streaming in and sit on the balcony, listening to the birds and watching the mist rise off the pond. Angie is a delightful, smart, and lovely host! My husband and I thought it would be a wonderful place to get married all over again. It's truly a hidden gem that is about 35 minutes to Columbia. The room was very comfortable, and we could control the HVAC to our needs. Angie has some lovely little ducks and a quaint chicken coop. The koi pond is relaxing spot as well. Other guests were staying in a separate cottage, and they had a wonderful fire going by the pond. It was a quick vacation away from the hustle/bustle of Atlanta. Absolutely lovely!
If you are looking for class, elegance and a romantic atmosphere, select this B&B. Interested in military history and historic relics, select this B&B. Amazing, delicious, chef inspired gourmet breakfast, select this B&B. Bruce and Katherine have perfected the art of hospitality and are spot on with good customer service. If I have said it once, I have said it dozen times, select this B&B.
My husband and I have stayed in dozens of B&Bs and this one is at the top of our list of favorites. Historical homes can be perfect in every detail (which Bloomsbury is) but it's the innkeepers who make it something truly special. Bruce and Katherine have perfected the art of hospitality. Everything was outstanding. We only stayed one night but we're planning to return for a longer stay next year.
Made a trip for Genealogy to Camden and Charleston. This was our 1st B&B but will not be our last. Hopefully our stay does not spoil us for other. Our stay was one of the finest eperiences in travels. Only wish we had more time with our hosts. Rate this experience with any Princess or Ritz stays. Katherine's special breakfast was a highlight.
My husband and I stayed in the Sweet William suite. The room was beautiful, clean, bright, and comfortable. Bruce and Katherine were excellent hosts. The food was delicious. Katherine makes home made breads and jams, and uses some locally produced ingredients. Bruce knows a lot of the history about the area and the house. We can wait to return when the weather is warmer.
Welcome Home away from Home! Beautifully set on 300acres of rolling land and surrounded by hills and woods, this place is just breathtaking. I was greeted by Angelina and her two babies (Fox Terrier and Pomeranian) and enjoyed a relaxing chat in the appointed living room. Surrounded by Victorian elegance, you have no idea you are not sitting in a renovated plantation estate. She showed me around the BnB and I was escorted to my room which was elegant and had every convenience and more than expected. A view of the Cottage by the Pond and fountain splashed pool is the perfect view to enjoy while sipping a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Breakfasts are better than any restaurant. Angelina's creativity included a freshly baked ham and cheese soufflé with a cheese fondue drizzle; a fluffy bacon, sausage and cheese quiche; a veggie omelet and fruit parfait and the list goes on....not all the same day. Just know that her surprise is that you will be surprised every morning and she works around your schedule so that you start your day perfectly. I toured the property on her Gator and was introduced to her pet chickens that reside in the TajMahal of coops and goodness knows what will join the property by my next visit! If planning to host a reunion, a wedding, a romantic getaway or just a place to rest...you will not be disappointed.
For a busy couple that wanted to step out of the world we know, this was a beautiful nest to run to! Katherine and Bruce welcome you to a gorgeous home, with all of the nostalgic, old South glamour kept neat and tidy to any high B&B standards. Breakfast in the "Breakfast room" is elegant and healthy, cooked by Katherine herself. We wish we could have stayed longer than a night to take advantage of the porch-sitting and slow appreciation of the area. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! We will be back!
What a wonderful experience! My wife and I finished our 40th anniversary trip by staying at the Bloomsbury Inn. We have stayed in many different B&B's and this is by far the grandest place yet. Bruce and Katherine are very welcoming and hospitable in taking care of their guests. The place is beautiful and the food is exceptional. We will definitely be going back and spending more time there.
What a wonderful Bed & Breakfast! We stayed here when our daughter got married last week. Our room was absolutely beautiful! By the time we left I felt like I made a new friend and Angie was just awesome! We walked this beautiful property and truly enjoyed the peace! Would highly recommend staying here!
Elegant. Outstanding food and service. Excellent hospitality. Attentiveness to detail. Accommodated diet - gluten free, dairy free, sugar free. I needed 2 nights of rest and relaxation around for a business stay. Enjoyed myself thoroughly. Rooms cannot be blacked out at night, but it was quiet. Beautiful classical music played the whole time!
Amazing breakfast. They inquired in advance and we are gluten and dairy free. No compromises in truly elegant and delicious meal. Location grounds and facility are perfection. Innkeepers are totally hospitable and the history talk and tour was fabulous. Really made the history come alive. All rooms are equally lovely and every amenity. Only complaint was we had only one night there. Totally worth the cost and time.
We spent the last evening of our vacation at Bloomsbury and it was by far the best accommodation of our trip. Bruce and Katherine are gracious and welcoming hosts who make every effort to ensure your stay is an enjoyable one. Their spectacular property is clean and well maintained. They provide many small but thoughtful additions that make your stay all the more enjoyable. Sipping a complimentary glass of wine late afternoon with Bruce and Katherine and their other guests on the expansive front porch of their beautiful heritage home is a truly pleasant experience. We highly recommend this property that makes a trip to the lovely town of Camden all the more worthwhile. David and Vivian, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
We had a wonderful time. The owner's were friendly and personable. We found them easy to talk to and so very helpful. They recommended a great restaurant for dinner. The social just before dinner was quaint and a wonderful idea to get acquainted along with yummy snacks. The home was beautiful. Every room had so much to enjoy and look at. The bedroom we choose was perfect. The temperature was perfect, too. We didn't have to adjust it at all. Every aspect was a delight and appreciated to make us feel at home and welcomed. Breakfast the next morning was exquisitely delicious. We have never stayed at a bed and breakfast quite as wonderful as this one. We plan on returning.
Our Friday afternoon and evening were auspicious. Bruce was a consummate host with hors' deurves and wine in the afternoon and an interesting history lesson. The accomodations were immaculate. The information on the town was delightfully helpful.
We were so happy and impressed with our stay. The room was terrific, the food spectacular and the hosts were extremely accommodating. I was in town for a seminar, and my husband spent his days enjoying the propery and the wealth of knowledge about history, the area and the house, provided by Bruce As I said, I had a seminar so my breakfast time was outside of the usual hours, so Kathleen made me a to-go care breakfast bag. It was very kind and made such a difference in my day. We were so pleased to ahve stayed there and hope to again. It is a gem.
What a wonderful home! Great antebellum mansion with beautiful grounds and friendly informative hosts that truly made you feel very welcome. Bruce and Katherine were superb hosts and Bruce was a wealth of information about the civil war and how the people struggled to recover after the war. Nothing was overlooked in this B&B.and would highly recommend it. Bill and Sharon Bill and Sharon
History buffs can really step back in time with this one. Best B&B I've ever stayed in. The accomadations are top rate. The food is gourmet and I've never had a breakfast as good as this. Will be return as often as I can. Bruce and Katherine are the best hosts. Donna McClam
This place is amazing!!! From the moment you arrive and get past the awe of the beauty of the house, you are greeted by the two most amazing people you would ever want to be in the company of. Bruce and Katherine are warm, friendly and treat everyone as if they have known you for years and are a part of the family. The house is absolutely beautiful and full of history to which Bruce is very passionate to share his vast knowledge about. The tour of the house with Bruce is wonderful. The breakfast every morning that Katherine has prepared herself is simply amazing. There are not enough words to describe this place or Bruce and Katherine. This is a must stay for anyone. We will be back!!!!!
Our stay from beginning to end was just fabulous. I have always wanted to stay in a Historical house in South Carolina. The grounds and the house were large and grand. Bruce and Katherine were the best innkeepers with lots of care and love, made me feel like it was my house. The breakfasts made from scratch are to die for with homemade Jams and Coffee! The trees with the Spanish moss to the columned porch with white rocking chairs a dream come true. The tour was one of the highlight of stay. Bruce told stories that kept us intrigued and laughing. So much to see in Camden South Carolina well informed about the town and history. My husband needed to pry me off the porch some nights to go to dinner. Being from Utah we were their to see our son graduate from Basic at Fort Jackson. If we come back I know right where I am staying Bloomsbury Inn! Love to you always Bruce and Katherine, love Robin and Donavan Pomikala from Utah
My wife and I wanted a quiet getaway to relax and this was definitely the place to go. The house and grounds are amazing. Bruce and Katherine are so warm and welcoming they make you feel right at home. I highly recommend the Bloomsbury!
