Channel Road Inn recently was ranked by Conde Nast Traveler as one of the Best Bed and Breakfast inns in Los Angeles. Located in the seaside community of Santa Monica, this charming inn boasts many rooms with ocean views, fireplaces and/or jetted spa tubs. The finely crafted historic inn offers visitors to the Los Angeles area a relaxing haven by the sea. Guests enjoy the fabulous complimentary amenities including a bountiful breakfast and afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres. History of Channel Road Inn: The Channel Road Inn was built in 1910 by architect Frank T. Kegley and is a rare West Coast example of a shingle-clad Colonial Revival home. Originally owned by Thomas McCall, a prominent local businessman, the house was moved to its current location near the beach in the Santa Monica Canyon in 1977. After having been abandoned for years, and with the encouragement of the local historical societies, the house was lovingly restored and opened as a bed and breakfast in 1989. Although extensive renovations have been done throughout the years, the house still boasts many of the original Craftsman accents such as the massive oak front door and Batchelder tiles in the living room fireplace.

My family of 4 stayed squeezed into a ground floor room that has a connecting room via the bathroom. Tho' the main bedroom and connecting room was a bit cramp in space, nevertheless we enjoyed the facilities and amenities in the room as well as in the main living and dining rooms of the Inn. The breakfasts were all so pleasant, so were the afternoon wine and cheese! The service of staff were gracious and friendly. Our family enjoyed the warmth of this Inn and rested well. It was indeed an unforgettable BnB!

It was a perfect place for relaxing and walking around. Close to the ocean and long beautiful walks. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful!

Convenient location north of downtown Santa Monica, very relaxed atmosphere, excellent morning breakfast, although an espresso option would be a nice addition. A bit expensive, but probably in line with the area.

We absolutely love this Inn. Everything about is is truly lovely. The rooms are light and airy, with king or queen beds, fresh quality linens, some with fireplaces, some with walk out balconies. Staff aim to please and are very professional and sweet. This was our second visit and we will always return if we can get in. They have 15 rooms and are popular. The prices are fair relative to the area. The nearby hotels are very expensive and while this Inn is not “ cheap”, it is affordable. The people and the setting are nurturing. The food is what one might eat at home but is nice— always something sweet available, along with a breakfast spread that always includes a hot egg preparation, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, breads. Happy hour includes cheeses, veggies, wine. The condition of the facility is excellent. Try it but don’t expect a hotel. Only one complaint— the water is lukewarm. If you require a really hot shower, you will be disappointed.

Wonderful Inn located 1 block from the Ocean. Everything about the Channel Road Inn is top notch: the friendly, courteous, helpful staff, the charming, spotless and spacious guest rooms, public living spaces and outdoor porches, the delicious breakfasts, all the amenities, (free parking, beach towels, bikes, home made cookies, high end toiletries, etc). This is a beautiful home lovingly restored and maintained.

Room (and bathroom) on top floor in back is very, very tired. Musty carpet smell, very unattractive furniture. Toilet tank was running, hotel staff had to turn it off, promised plumber next day--we cut our stay short and checked out after one night.

The property was very well located for strolls on the beach, and the hosts were very, very gracious; they couldn't have been nicer. However, the big disappointment that overshadowed our stay was the poor bed and bedding. For the caliber of inn and the price, we were expecting today's standard for premium lodging: a luxurious bed with soft linens. But instead, the bed was just "tired". The mattress was very firm and not at all comfortable. The down pillows were way past their prime and could not be fluffed. The sheets felt like they'd been laundered too much and were not 100% cotton. It felt like we were staying in an aunt's spare bedroom, rather than a $350+/night B&B. The night before, we'd stayed at a resort in another city that was actually less expensive and more comfortable; having that bed as a comparison made this especially disappointing.

The staff, Holly, Dominque and Heather were exceptional. We had a late flight to Australia and spent the day in Santa Monica. The Inn was so nice to hold our luggage until we left late in the evening. Also, the Inn serves afternoon multiple snacks with your choice of red and white wine. We would definitely stay here again.

There was one concern with our room. The hot water in the shower was only lukewarm at best.
