The Kaleidoscope Inn is an older house and could use some sprucing up. It is charming and yet could use a make over. In particular the bath tub REALLY needs to either be changed or serviced. It was clean but old. One thing is that the website states the rooms have private bathrooms, while that is true, most of the rooms have this private bathroom down the hall. You are given a key and can lock the bathroom but it is not part of the room so that's definitely inconvenient. Becky is great. She is most helpful and tries so hard. Really appreciated her great dining and places to see tips. Breakfast was ok and she did all she could to make things work. It is not gourmet but she'll make you eggs if you ask. I doubt we'd stay here again but we had a nice weekend getaway.
Thank you for taking the time to review us! We really appreciate your honest feedback and will definitely be taking your comments into account when we are looking at renovations for the future. When possible we will be doing our best to ensure the majority of rooms have en-suite bathrooms; without compromising the historic nature of the house. Until then we are always happy to answer any questions on rooms prior to and post booking. Furthermore we will always do our best to accommodate guest requests where possible. Please accept our apologies that we were unable to get you into one of our 3 en suite rooms. We do know the unattached bathroom is not what everyone is used to and thank you for giving it a go. Glad you enjoyed your time on the central coast and thank you for staying at The Kaleidoscope Inn.

We found the listing by looking for places advertised as close to Hearst Castle. This b&b is over an hour away (67 miles). Although the place was lovely, it was much further than we wanted to be for the purpose of our visit.
Thank you for your kind review. First of all we want all our guests experience to exceed their expectations, we are sorry that the distance to Hearst Castle was not made clear to you prior to your stay. Our Hearst Castle Package is our most popular package and we are supporting members of the historic site, but it is true we are about an hour drive door-to-door. Most of our guests are aware of this and make the most of the beautiful drive along the coast and make a day of it, possibly stopping at Cambria and the Elephant Seal Reserve. Once again sorry the distance was not clear to you. We will check our website and other information available to make sure it is accurate. Thanks.

I believe this is our 7 th stay. This time for 3 nights. (Too short) We have been very impressed with Kaleidscpoe for every stay. We sent our middle daughter here for her honey moon and they loved it so much they came for their anniversary as well. We have had all three daughters stay with us when they could. This is our #1 favorite place to get away with so much to do within an hour to great places. Thank you!!

Stayed at Kaleidoscope during a weekend golf trip. The courses I played were within 10 minutes of the B&B, whereas any hotel I could find would have been a 30+ minute drive! Was a great place in a perfect spot!

The garden and rooms at the Kaleidoscope Inn & Gardens are truly delightful. I stayed in the Carriage House which has it's own private garden area as well. The only thing I would caution is that my reservation made through bedandbreakfast.com had trouble getting through to the owners. I would recommend calling ahead of time to confirm the reservation. Even though that happened, the owner was awesome and upgraded my room for the inconvenience. The breakfast in the morning was top-notch and eating it in the garden is highly recommended. Loved every minute of staying here and I recommend it to anyone traveling in California.
