The Featherbed Railroad Bed and Breakfast Resort is Northern California's most unique Bed and Breakfast. The Featherbed Railroad is located on the shore of Clear Lake. At the Featherbed Railroad, you enjoy the peace and tranquility of one of nine luxuriously themed vintage railroad cabooses set in a park-like setting overlooking our private dock Lake County's Clear Lake offers activities of all sorts, from boating and fishing to antique shopping. There are almost 30 premium wineries within a short drive of the Featherbed Railroad. Ecotourism is growing quickly in the region with hiking trails, kayaking and bicycling and geo-caching is very popular here too. Clear Lake has the cleanest air in California and the third cleanest air in the US. In fact, we have some great ideas for two- and three-day itineraries. We serve a fresh, homemade breakfast every day incorporating the incredible bounty of our local farmers. All the cabooses feature private restrooms, individual heat and air conditioning and queen-size beds topped with a luxurious European-style featherbed. The Featherbed Railroad is just 120 miles north of San Francisco and about 90 minutes away from Sacramento. Also near by are Mendocino, Healdsburg, and Calistoga. The unhurried local attitude in Lake County makes this a wonderful destination to anyone looking to truly relax away their stress. Join us soon for a relaxing stay in a genuine antique railroad Caboose where you relax in your own 2 person tub

loved the idea of staying in a train caboose-

3.4 on October 16, 2016

loved the idea of staying in a train caboose.... we Love unusual lodging. the train car was nicely decorated, but smell musty upon arrival. The accommodations were comfortable, to including the bed, spa tub, nice towels, and the grounds. The pool was closed, but I am sure that would have been refreshing as well. The owners June & Paul were very friendly and enjoyable.

Innkeeper Response
Sorry that your caboose was not smelling as fresh as you would have liked. These cabooses are old, and when closed up for a few days, they can get a little old smelling. We try very hard to air them out as best as we can, use a negative ION machine, when it seems necessary, and use carpet freshener. I see that the breakfast and cleanliness were not up to your highest standards either, and that is something they we strive extremely hard on, and that disappoints me. Thank you for your comments, and we will work on improving.

Wonderful Place - You Gotta Go There!

June and Paul at the Featherbed Railroad B&B Resort go above and beyond. They are great hosts. Highly recommend this place, you won't be disappointed. The wine, cheese and chocolate platter really made our night very special as we were on our honeymoon. The breakfast the next morning was yummy and so well presented. Can't say enough about this place, the rail cars are gorgeous, the grounds are inviting and peaceful, and the hosts are so friendly and fun to talk to. We stayed in the Wine Country Car and truly enjoyed the décor. You Gotta Go There!!!!! Thanks June and Paul for making are stay so enjoyable and fun.

I loved this b&b, the rooms are very private (each in a separate "building"). There's an onsite pool and even tandem bikes. Owners were very attentive and served a great breakfast everyday! We even went on the pier (on the lake) and watched a sunset and looked at the stars. Such a great b&b.

Loved the entire experience!

Have driven by the place many times in the past thinking we should stay here someday! Someday finally happened for our 12th anniversary. June and Paul are very accommodating hosts and because we had an early morning fishing trip planned and would miss breakfast one morning, June prepared zucchini bread for us to take with us! The morning we did have breakfast, she prepared home made huevos rancheros that were out of this world. The caboose we stayed in was clean and quaint as expected. It was very peaceful and enjoyable. Would probably stay again, but this trip inspired us to purchase our own vacation place in the area!

2nd Time This Year

This was a follow up visit from our first "Birthday Surprise" visit in March. June and Paul are Awesome. You can Feel their desire to make your stay memorable and one that will have you wanting to come back again and again. The themed cabooses are fun and vibrant. The morning breakfasts are outstanding. June is diligent in making sure she has taken care of any of your dietary needs. The location is great for the various wineries, some remarkable restaurants and outdoor activity. We are already planning our next visit as well as giving a nights stay to our children and spouses.

My daughter and I had a great time returning to Lake County. View of lake was fabulous and we are still talking about how delicious the breakfasts were at Featherbed R&R.
