Highly recommended

Wonderful Inn. Ian and staff are very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

Quaint in.

4.2 on September 07, 2018

Stayed here in 1995 and again 2018. Still same cute place. Breakfast was nice, muffin was fantastic. And we needed to get out early so they brought ours to our room earlier than normal, which was lovely. Stayed in the "Shed", only complaint is the drapes did not stayed closed and were very thin. I did have cloths pins (Never travel without them for this one reason) and had to use all of them. I'd like to see heavier drapes that close to provide more privacy for this room as people do travel in front of it. Otherwise super quiet and very nice.

Return to Sea Gull Inn

4.8 on September 03, 2018

My wife and I returned to the Sea Gull Inn to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We were greeted by the new owners Kim and Ian. We always enjoy our stay there as it is in the perfect location and we love the Inn itself. Kim and Ian have continued the wonderful service and have been adding their own special touches. Our highlight was our anniversary breakfast in the garden with a special congratulations flare. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Cozy B&B

4.0 on August 31, 2018

Visited Sea Gull Inn and Mendocino on our recent anniversary. Plenty of sites to see shopping and good restaurants to visit. We especially enjoyed our stay at the Sea Gull. It was a great value, the rooms were kept clean with views of the ocean and the breakfasts in bed were terrific. Owners were friendly and very helpful. We will definitely be back.

Mendecino Magic

4.2 on August 29, 2018

We origninally had planned to travel from Mt Hood Oregon through Crater Lake Oregon on our RV camping trip back home to HB California when we were detoured because of the wildfires in Oregon and northern California. Rerouted over to the coast where we had a reprieve from fire, smoke and haze. Fell into this magical town of Mendecino and met Ian Roth and his wonderful new assistant, Debbie, who greeted us with open arms and genuine interest in our journey and stories of RV camping for 2 weeks with our 3 grandsons...ages 13, 11 and 7. Immediately their hospitality embraced us as they shared their stories of Mendicina and everything we needed to do and see while there. They both exceeded our expectations as we wanted to 'upgrade' our room at the last minute, just because we loved the color and lighting in the 'Sand Dollar' Room. We had a wonderfufl time, great visit with Ian, amazing hospitality, outstanding organic fruit, yogurt and homenade muffins every morning delivered to our room with freshly brewed pot of coffee. It was truly a magical time in such a beautiful little gemstone of a seaside city. We will return again and look forward to snuggling up in our 'home away from home' at the Sea Gull Inn. Loved it!!

Wonderful accommodations, location, and service

4.6 on August 20, 2018

I have stayed at this B&B several times previously and really enjoyed it. The location could not be better--within walking distance to the town and lovely trails near the ocean. The rooms are very comfortable and quaint. The new owners have put a special touch on it with planned renovations, beautiful local art work in the rooms, and a continental breakfast that is very special. I was really pleased that they had no difficulty accommodating my vegan diet.Everyone who works here is pleasant, friendly and excited to welcome guests. The new owners are great and I look forward to seeing all the changes they are making when I return.

Mendocino Oasis

We just finished a road trip up the coast and staying at the Sea Gull Inn was one of the highlights of the trip. The owners were incredibly welcoming and gracious. The room had been well cared for and was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and with presentation that could have been photographed for a cooking magazine. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

After getting engaged a year ago at a nearby lighthouse and staying that weekend at the Seagull Inn, It only made sense to go back an relive those memories one year later. We were not disappointed with another great stay and the new hosts were very gracious and welcoming. We highly recommend a stay at the Sea Gull Inn.

A nice peaceful stay

It was a beautiful place with everything you need close by.

A pleasant stay

4.4 on August 04, 2018

We were greeted by the friendly innkeepers and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We have stayed before and will stay again as the atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful. The location is near downtown without being in the middle of the traffic. The breakfast is more than ample and very tasty. A good stay in Mendocino.

Cute place

Super cute. Within walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Would stay here again

4.2 on July 29, 2018

Great value, even better breakfasts. Convenient to restaurants and walks along the bluffs.

Charming but the NOISE!

2.8 on July 25, 2018

There we were in a charming B&B; one we have stayed at many times. The breakfast does not compare to Heritage House and the pornographic noise coming from the room across the hall lasted for an interminable time and was disturbing to say the least. Sea Gull invest in some soundproofing!!!!

Best Place to stay in Mendocino!

5 on July 24, 2018

Great people, excellent breakfast, and comfortable rooms! I won't stay anywhere else!

Relaxful Getaway

4.2 on July 23, 2018

Quaint B & B. Beautiful gardens. Very friendly innkeepers. Perfect location in Mendocino. Filling breakfast delivered to your door that includes a huge, warm, delicious muffin and hot chocolate. Mmmmm. Stayed in "the Shed" which was very comfortable and private. Had a wonderful time. Would definitely stay there again.

Charming get away

Wonderful host and delicious breakfast in your room. Charming vintage style. Location is right in town. Enjoyed our stay!

Perfect weekend getaway

5 on July 12, 2018

Perfect location if you want to stay in Mendocino. Walking distance to all the stores and restaurants. Our room was super clean and neat and the beddings are so comfy. I highly recommend this place and if I ever go back to this town, staying at this place is the only option for me.

Amazingly Special!

5 on July 07, 2018

Our room was beyond adorable, clean and special. Having our fantastic breakfast delivered to the patio next to our room made our morning! We highly recommend this amazing Inn!!

Sweet spot!

4.4 on June 27, 2018

My daughter and I stayed in "The Barn" at the Seagull Inn for my birthday. It was perfecto - surrounded by gorgeous gardens and the whole coastal area in and around Mendocino, we couldn't have been happier. Our accommodations in "the barn" were immaculate and very comfy. Breakfast was beautifully presented, delicious and delivered right on time. We like our coffee strong and it was pretty weak coffee so we did augment by going around the corner for some stronger stuff, but that's just us ;-) A very nice touch was they added mimosa's for my birthday breakfast :-D. Everyone who worked there was smiling and helpful whenever we needed anything.

Very comfortable, great value...

5 on April 29, 2018

We have made this our home away from home for years.Jim and Ayla make us feel so welcome and truly seem to enjoy what they do. Heartily recommend the experience. Pam and John Gipson

Cute place, nice people, issue noise

3.2 on March 26, 2018

Hosts are very nice and helpful. Yummy casual breakfast in room. Downtown so easy to walk to shops. We stayed in two rooms, both were cute. The first was an older style that I like, though smallish bathroom. The next night we were in the King room above the office -- bigger, more updated, big bathroom. Nice garden in the back. BUT be aware that there's a loud hum there from the restaurant next door that's quite noticeable -- and more so from the office/king side of the hotel. It goes all day, from about 10am to 10pm. (I think a different time range on weekends vs. weekdays.) I even asked about noise before coming, and they'd said some people notice a fan, making it sound minor, they thought maybe it was fixed. But to me it was more impactful than that. I personally didn't find it restful to be there in the morning once it started, or during the day, say for a nap. So consider how much that matters to you, and weighing it with other factors you might be considering.

Best Place too Stay

5 on March 14, 2018

My Husband and I have stayed here 4 times and each time have had a great experience, the Bed and Breakfast is in walking distance to shops, great places to eat and view the beauty of Mendocino. Best of all the breakfast they bring to your room is amazingly delicious.

Lovely stay

3.8 on March 12, 2018

Very charming place with wonderful service, at a price point that makes Mendocino a bit more accessible than some of the other places in town. We look forward to staying here again.

Christmas time visit

5 on December 23, 2017

After a long drive on a very wintry day, I arrived at Seagull Inn to see the lamp on in the window of my room, which the hosts had already heated for me. Such a warm and welcoming stay, from start to finish. I'd never been to Mendocino during the Christmas season, and the inn looked beautiful with its twinkling lights, the wreath on the door, and boughs & ribbons decorating it like an old-fashioned Victorian Christmas. Just perfect. My very favorite place in Mendocino.

Delightful B&B!

5 on December 19, 2017

We visited the Inn for a weekend getaway and were not at all disappointed! The room we had (Driftwood) was spacious and had lots of windows. There's a small gas fireplace/heater that was all we need to stay cozy and warm during the sub-freezing nights. The room was clean and well-appointed. The staff that greeted us upon arrival (Laura) was cheerful and helpful in pointing out local "to-do" activities. The proprietors, Ayla and Jim, are gracious hosts and we really enjoyed spending time with them. The surrounding area is absolutely gorgeous! Across the street from the Inn, we walked around the headlands and took MANY photos for an hour or two. The restaurants and coffee shops were all unique and enjoyable. I heartily suggest Moody's Organic Coffee Bar as well as Patterson's Pub. The Mendocino Hotel has a gorgeous lobby that's worth stopping in to see; and you might as well have a cocktail while you're there! There are a plethora of breweries and wineries to visit as well. We'll be back!!!

Wonderfully Funky B&B

3.4 on December 01, 2017

My wife and I spent 2 nights at the Sea Gull Inn, the room was clean and the staff was genuinely friendly. We enjoyed the breakfast which is, muffins/danish, yogurt, fruit, and coffee; brought to the room, which suits our needs because we usually eat a smaller breakfast. I recommend this Inn to anyone who likes old, but well maintained houses, this building has rain gutters made from Redwood, now that's funky! And quite wonderful.

Excellent stay in Mendocino

5 on October 16, 2017

I would highly recommend the Seagull Inn to anyone staying in Mendocino for the weekend. The room was very cozy, the grounds very charming/quaint and the staff was over the top accommodating. Excellent location too! I was incredibly touched by the kindness of the staff and a gesture they did for me the morning of my check out. I had to leave very early (4:00am) and so to ensure I was able to get a bite to eat, they left a fresh baked muffin and banana in my room the night before (thanks Laura!). Its little things like this that make you never forget an experience and appreciate incredible hospitality. Thank you again.

Sea Gull Inn

4.4 on October 13, 2017

Stayed in 'The Barn'. It was quaint and only 1/2 a block from the town and an ocean view. We were greeted warmly and taken to 'The Barn' so we could settle in before exploring Mendocino. The breakfast were excellent and the best coffee I have had in a long time. 'The Barn' was in the midst of a garden and had a great wooden deck where we sat and enjoyed the evening. The Inn was quiet and peaceful and I had the best nights sleep while I was there. I would recommend the Sea Gull Inn to anyone who wants a restful, enjoyable stay in Mendocino.

Great Mendocino treasure

4.8 on October 03, 2017

We were greeted warmly and shown to our room, which had beautiful original Mendocino watercolors and antique furniture. The room was very clean and inviting and was within walking distance to everything, including the headlands and businesses and restaurants in town. The gardens were lovely, and we enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the hummingbirds. The breakfast, which was brought to us on the porch, was beautiful to look at with fresh flowers and tasty with freshly-baked muffins and organic fruit, yogurt, and more. We would go back in a minute if we could.

We Love the Sea Gull Inn

5 on October 02, 2017

The Sea Gull Inn is very charming, comfortable, conveniently located. Our favorite!

5 on October 01, 2017

Great little room with a view of the ocean. Wonderful staff and pleasant owners. Multiple dining options nearby. Beautiful scenery on the walking trail along the coast. Great breakfast, served to our room.

Best two days of my life.

4.6 on September 29, 2017

Maybe not for you if you're into grand elegance with a fountain and pianist in the atrium. BUT if you like quaint, thoughtful, artistic and tasteful, the Sea Gull is perfect. Everything you need, quiet, clean, and comfy. I hope you are lucky enough to be served breakfast by Laura in the 'Secret Garden".

Great Vacation Spot

5 on September 26, 2017

Everything about this small, cozy location was great. Breakfast was super, and there were numerous nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner. Views from the ocean trails were fantastic. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks to the staff and owners for a great visit.

Charming Mendocino Village Inn with wonderful breakfast!

5 on September 21, 2017

Lovely, quaint B & B in the Village of Mendocino. Very helpful staff, delicious breakfast brought to your room ( or can be taken to outoor patio), luxe bedding. Perfect experience and reasonably priced. Easy walking distance to wonderful restaurants. Would go again in a heartbeat.

Would love to go back!

5 on September 14, 2017

We arrived late but were cheerfully met by Laura who oriented us to the Inn and surroundings, taking time to answer all our questions and offering suggestions about places to eat and activities. The Sand Dollar room was totally charming and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. We couldn't have been more pleased.

A Wonderful Getaway

5 on September 09, 2017

My husband and I spent 2 nights in the Driftwood Room. We enjoyed the comfy king size bed, the luxurious bath towels and the scrumptious breakfast. Our breakfast included a warm homemade muffin, delicious fruit, orange juice, coffee and yogurt. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing stay.

Charming and comfortable

5 on August 26, 2017

Very charming property, nice and friendly hosts and delicious breakfast. Convenient location in town, so we could walk everywhere. I would have liked to stay longer!

Very nice little place, extremely cosy and comfortable room excellent breakfast and very friendly staff.

A delightful night in Mendocino

4.4 on August 19, 2017

We spent a very good night in the charming Sea Gull Inn. Friendly and helpful hosts, a very pretty room, comfortable bed, gorgeous garde, and outstanding oat/berry scone, juice fruit, and coffee delivered to our room exactly at the time we requested. The only thing missing from the room was a tv, but we considered that a bonus. ;)

Cozy and welcoming

4.2 on August 14, 2017

We loved staying here with our 2 young girls. The delivery of breakfast to our room every morning was a unique, wonderful touch that made things so much easier for us with our kids. (And they loved the hot chocolate and huge muffins). Ideally located within walking distance of restaurants, and a charming, quiet place to stay. Thank you!

Wonderful weekend!

5 on August 13, 2017

My wife and I stayed at the Seagull Inn for a weekend in June 2017. Loved the place and will return. Great location and very romantic. The in-room breakfast is a great touch and delicious!

Quick stay at the Inn

5 on August 10, 2017

My wife and I needed to make a quick trip to Fort Bragg and thought it might be nice to stay in Mendocino. We were lucky enough on short notice to see that the Sea Gull Inn had a room available. We liked the reviews and the fact it was right in town. It was everything the previous reviews had said...very quaint, clean, quiet and right close to town, restaurants, shops, etc. It was easy to find and the room was excellent. We very much liked the old, historic nature of the building and the relaxed setting. Great short visit...just need to stay longer than 1 night next time!

Breakfast at the Sea Gull

4.2 on August 09, 2017

The Sea Gull is a very nice and quaint B&B, my husband and I had a very nice time, our only complaint is in regards of breakfast, even though it was plenty and really delicious, it only included sweet things, we wish to have had some savory items.

5 on August 09, 2017

This was our 6th visit here and not our last. Champagne was brought along with our breakfast to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. Always love our time here and staying at Sea Gull is the reason, walking distance to everything. Highly recommend.

Delicious Breakfasts! Cozy Comfort

4.0 on August 04, 2017

Jim and Ayla were very gracious and friendly, yet they gave us complete privacy. The breakfasts were fantastic, and spoiled us. I especially loved the flowers and the quaint setting, and the proximity to the scenic coast and beautiful Mendocino.

Comfortable stay

3.6 on August 04, 2017

We stayed in Lookout #1 at the Sea Gull Inn. The place was very nice with a beautiful garden. The hosts were also wonderful and prepared delicious breakfasts. The only complaint would be that the room we stayed in is not as well put together as expected for the price and might need a little brush up. The furnishing seems to be getting outdated and the decor is a little haphazard - reminding me of grandma's house. I'm particularly looking at you, three mismatching lamps with odd shades. We peeked in some of the other rooms when checking out and it seems that other rooms were more tastefully decorated, so it could just be our room.

Another anniversary

4.8 on July 29, 2017

This was our 6th visit to Seagull and we were not disappointed. Our breakfast on our first morning included champagne which we made mimosas out of our juice. Food was delicious and Jim and Ayla were very cordial as usual. Would highly recommend this place (and I have many times). Walking distance from everything we want to see and do.

Amazing stay

4.6 on July 27, 2017

The Sea Gull Inn is a beautiful place to stay with gardens surrounding it and many places to sit outside to eat or just relax. It's in a great location to walk to the headlands, shops, and food. The breakfast is the perfect size and delicious. The staff are also very helpful when giving recommendations. Would definitely stay here again.

Mendocino Magic

5 on July 20, 2017

Such a charming B&B in a very convenient location, especially for 4th of July activities, and walking all over town. We stayed 2 nights in the Geranium Room -- very spacious with lots of natural light because of all the windows. Breakfast was ample and delivered to your room -- the huge muffins are delicious! Due to a wet winter, there were flowers galore -- just beautiful!

Charming old home, great location, friendly staff

4.2 on July 15, 2017

This b&b is in the middle of the cute village of Mendocino. It's an old house with quirks like uneven floors and tiny showers, but it's very clean and charming and the owners and staff are beyond friendly and cheery. Breakfast is served in your room and consists of a giant delicious muffin, fresh fruit, juice and a hot beverage. Location and charm are excellent. Room is sweet and good size. Shower with minimal flow is only low point.

Favorite place in Mendocino

5 on July 01, 2017

Quaint, charming and delightful place to stay. The grounds and garden are beautiful. The breakfast tray presentation and food were a treat to see and eat. Each room is unique.....we stayed in the "Shed" and it was just the right size for both of us. The location is perfect, within walking distance of the center of town and the ocean. It had everything we wanted in a B & B. Will be staying there again.

Best accomodation of our 10 day trip up the coast

4.8 on June 08, 2017

Super friendly helpful host, most comfortable bed, clean room, great comfort factor, blueberry muffins for in room breakfast a hit, top location - just goes to show what pride and professionalism can do for a business.

Romatic Weekend

5 on June 01, 2017

Such a great place to unwind and within walking distance of downtown and the coast line. We will make this a regular place to go.

Sea Gull Inn: Rustic & Charming

3.4 on May 24, 2017

This is the second time I've stayed at the Sea Gull Inn. It's under a different ownership but still a charming little B&B. They have lovely gardens, it's fairly quiet, and they provide a great breakfast with warm muffins, yogurt, seasonal fruit, orange juice, coffee or tea, in your room. The accommodate special diets. The staff is fabulous and helpful. The bathroom in our room was small and in need of updating, but good water pressure and temp no matter when we showered - this is an achievement in an old Victorian. If you are looking for a slick, modern B&B, this isn't it. The price is in keeping with the rest of Mendo but a little steep for me, making this a special occasion-type of weekend get away. If you are down with the old fashioned B&B vibe with amazing hospitality, you will enjoy this place.

Perfect Getaway

5 on May 08, 2017

Lovely stay among the quiet garden. Perfect location for access to trails on Mendocino Headlands or strolling through town. The hosts are ready to serve your every need.

Beautiful setting, friendly people, excellent breakfast.

3.6 on May 07, 2017

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the gardens were lovely. The shed room was very cute but tiny, and if the weather had not been so perfect, this might have been a problem. The friendliness and the food were a big plus, and we loved eating breakfast in the garden. It's nice to be located right in town. A good choice if you are looking for something both affordable and delightful.

I would recommend you to stay there..

4.2 on April 25, 2017

We stayed beginning of April at Sea Gull Inn Geranium room with my mom. We were very impressed with cozy room and welcoming service. Hotel is very near to restaurants and shops, but on same time has enough privacy. The room was tastefully decorated and had very comfortable beds. I would stay there again and I would recommend you to stay there..

Cute place, great location

3.8 on April 04, 2017

We stayed in the "Shed," which is a tiny room but very cute and nicely situated in the garden. It's fun to stay right in Mendocino where everything is within easy walking distance. The owners were great about recommending places to dine, and their own breakfast muffins, yogurt and fruit were delicious and delivered to our room. We would stay here again, but probably in a larger room.

Great place with great people!

5 on March 28, 2017

We had a wonderful stay at the See Gull Inn. The rooms are clean and absolutely adorable. The service is wonderful and the breakfast is delicious. They bring you breakfast in bed!

Imperfectly Perfect

4.8 on March 16, 2017

I loved everything about this place: its location, its beautiful unruly garden, its kind and generous proprietors, and their staff. It's friendly and private at the same time. The breakfast was superb, and personally served with smiles.

One word: FABULOUS! I absolutely loved this place. I stayed just one night as a get-away trip and it was such a great experience. It was extremely quiet at night and I had very restful sleep. The room was cozy and pristine. In the morning, owner Jim delivered a gourmet breakfast right to my room. It was delicious and so neatly presented. All of the staff that I interacted with (Griselda and Julie and owners Ayla and Jim) were so courteous and hospitable. I am enthralled by my short stay at Sea Gull Inn. I wish I had spent more time there to enjoy the experience. Overall, the Sea Gull Inn gets an A++++ from me!!

Our first time in Mendocino and it was amazing. The staff at the Sea Gull Inn provided so many options of what to do, where to go and what to see. Our entire weekend was planned in minutes. The food recommendations were perfect as well. The morning breakfast brought right to our door and it too was delicious.

Excellent stay

Sea Gull Inn Review

4.4 on October 18, 2016

My stay was lovely. The rooms were clean and charming. My shower was extremely small - not sure everyone would fit in it, but it was otherwise perfect. The staff was great and the breakfast delivered to the room was delicious and very filling. I would stay there again!

OUTstanding B&B in Mendocino CA

5 on September 14, 2016

Jim and Ayla and their cat Sophie at the Sea Gull Inn are like family. We're always treated like royalty with their hospitality, breakfasts, and local guidance. We like the Lookout 2 room. I HIGHLY recommend a stay at the BEST B&B in Mendocino !

Enjoyed the Barn!

4.2 on September 03, 2016

Comfortable bed, beautiful old garden and unbeatable location... But those muffins! Superb! A friendly, low key place to stay in Mendocino.

Adorable/comfortable stay

5 on August 28, 2016

My boyfriend and I adored our time at The Sea Gull Inn. It was the perfect location in Mendocino- walking distance to everywhere, had the comfiest/coziest bed, and a delicious breakfast that was brought to us in the morning. I definitely recommend a stay here!

60th birthday celebration

3.6 on July 30, 2016

We stayed in a separate room with a loft for our friends. The owners have had the place for about 9 years but I hadnt been there for over 20. Its nice to see that things havent changed much and its comforting to see them as I remember them.

5 on July 25, 2016

Enjoyed our two nights in Mendocino. We had a room with rockers on the porch outside, and spent our evenings and mornings there. Sophie, the cat, came to visit a few times - very friendly.

Lucky Enough to Find the SeaGull Inn

4.8 on July 18, 2016

We were lucky enough to find the Sea Gull Inn with only one room left and with two beds which is exactly what we needed late afternoon! The host was accommodating and attentive to our needs. The room was quite comfortable and breakfast was outstanding!

Perfect Mendocino stay

4.6 on July 16, 2016

The Sea Gull Inn is everything I love about Mendocino. It's an absolutely beautiful and historic place to stay - the room as well as the garden, with a view of the ocean from my window and deck. It's spotlessly clean, the decor is tranquil and inviting, and everyone was so pleasant and accommodating. A wonderful, rejuvenating stay.

First Time in Mendocino

Small room, but lovely breakfast, particularly for me as a coeliac. Needs a kettle.

Perfect postcard location

3.2 on July 09, 2016

The garden was lovely and the host friendly and accommodating. I was particularly pleased that he provided a filling and interesting gluten free breakfast. The room was adequate, although it was slightly off putting to be told it was the smallest room. A kettle in the room would be a welcome addition. Kathy Tavistock, UK

The best of our coastal roadtrip.

5 on June 23, 2016

Who raves about sheets! I do. They were heavenly and the staff delightful and inviting. A lovely stay in the wonderful town of Mendocino. The bed and breakfast is true to its title. Breakfast was brought to your bedroom. The organic pumpkin muffins were the size of a toddler's head. And to top it off, Mendocino has a fabulous shoe store. I wish there had been a Sea Gull Inn in all of our stops. Jane and Dorothy Holt

After much research, my family booked the entire Inn for their wedding. We all stayed for 4 days, 3 nights. There's beautiful gardens & quaint rooms, with each room having its own charm! Jim & Ayla were gracious & accommodating to put up with the many "special" requests -- needing info about the area & recommendations for places to go & things to do. We loved every minute of our trip. We recommend this Inn with 5 stars & look forward to going back. (I know they'll remember us!!)

Great stay at the Sea Gull Inn

5 on June 02, 2016

We stayed in the Geranium room which was very spacious and comfortable. it was surrounded by beautiful gardens and had its own entrance. The owners were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is delivered to your room each morning and was both delicious and filling. I would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast. The only dining at the Inn was at breakfast, but there are numerous restaurants just a block or two away.

Pleasant Country Inn

5 on May 17, 2016

My husband and I spent a night at the Sea Gull Inn to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed in the Shed room, which was very nice! Very clean and comfortable. We arrived late for check in due to traffic, and the hosts were very gracious in allowing us to take our time. Breakfast was brought to our room and was delicious! We will definitely be back next time we visit Mendocino.

Stayed in "The Shed."

4.0 on May 05, 2016

Wonderful place in a great location in Mendocino Village. We particularly loved the gardens and the nice breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. Will definitely plan to visit again. "The Shed" was a very cute and fun place to stay. We would have liked the shed better if it had a little more space and some bedside tables. Overall, we had a great experience. Thanks much!

charm and comfort

5 on May 02, 2016

I stayed 2 nights in the cozy Sea Urchin Room, which was spotlessly clean and tastefully and comfortably furnished. Having breakfast delivered to my door was a treat, and I especially enjoyed the fresh fruit and yogurt and the delicious egg puff. Jim and Ayla are excellent innkeepers -- when I phoned to make a reservation, Ayla was so pleasant and helped me decide which room was best for me. When I arrived, she had a hiking map of the area ready for me, based on our phone conversation. The gardens are gorgeous, even if it was too windy to sit outside during my visit. Mendocino is lovely, and the Sea Gull Inn an ideal accommodation.

Charming B&B Close to Everything

5 on April 27, 2016

Stayed at the Sea Gull Inn for two nights. This historic B & B has many rooms to choose from and all are very clean, charming, and cosy. We started out on the second floor in the Abalone Room, which was comfortable and quiet, but due to some painting being done in the hallway, which created quite a pungent odor, the innkeeper, Ayla, offered to move us down to one of the first floor rooms at no extra charge the next night because we were the only guests staying there so early in the season. This was greatly appreciated and we chose the Lookout-Two Room just off the front garden. This turned out to be more spacious, with a larger bed, two armchairs, and a small desk where we could work. Breakfast consisted of tea and coffee, (huge) freshly baked muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, and orange juice, all delivered to our door at the time of our choosing. The first morning we ate on the deck just next to the office and the beautiful front garden that was just perfect, as was Sophie, the resident inn-cat who joined us to lie in the sun while we ate and checked our email. Our second meal we took in our room because it was raining, but we had a wonderful view of the garden again, so that can't be beat. We will definitely keep The Sea Gull Inn in mind the next time we find ourselves in the neighborhood.

Great place. Highly recommend it!

A Quick Trip North...

5 on March 26, 2016

My wife Marilyn and I came up to Mendo to support a dear friend giving a class...we were extremely pleased with the comfort of the room we had and the breakfast was outstanding. But unfortunately, my wife has an artificial hip and knee and severe arthritis in the other knee so the stairs were an issue for us. Not having on site parking was a deciding factor for whether to come back here or not. Wonderful place and super hosts...highly recommended if you do not have the issues we are dealing with.

A wonderful place to stay in Mendocino

5 on March 21, 2016

We had a most wonderful stay at the Sea Gull Inn when we were back in town after 25 years! Jim and Ayla are excellent hosts, and the room and grounds were very beautiful and relaxing. With perfect weather, we were able to have our fantastic breakfast on the deck by our room. This will be our home base for future coast visits

Peaceful and pleasant

We has a Bed and Breakfast gift card and looked up lodgings in Mendocino that accepted it. We found the Seagull Inn and booked on line. It is a beautiful Inn with a tranquil garden and a great location for walking. Near to market, coffee shop, St. Anthony's Catholic Church, restaurants. Jim and Ayla were gracious hosts and provided an elegant breakfast served in the room. We stayed in the driftwood room which was comfortable with a fireplace which we used. The bathroom was excellent and well provided. We will stay here when we visit the North Coast again from our home in Texas.

On a trip down the coast I spent the night in the "Garden Shed" room. It was just as charming as described and shown on the Inn's website. Really wish I wasn't just passing through as I could easily have spent several more nights at the Seagull Inn. Breakfast was really nice as well. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

This is a charming and affordable B&B in the heart of Mendocino. My wife and I stayed for two nights, last week and 24 yrs. before that. The owners are sweet and helpful, there is a beautiful garden and cat, and it couldn't be in a better spot.

LOVE the Sea Gull Inn!!

5 on September 21, 2015

Upon arrival, Jim the owner was there to greet us, he was super nice, checked us in, gave us a map of the area & told us good places to eat :) .......then showed us to our room, which was the "shed".......looked exactly like the pictures online!! CUTE!!! the bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was roomy......loved the fact that there was always a little shelf or a little table to set your necessities on :) They served a continental breakfast each morning and it was yummy!!!.....consisted of coffee, juice, warm homemade muffins, fresh fruit, & yogurt....all delicious!! They also provided umbrellas in the front office......for those of you who forgot to travel with an umbrella (which we did!!).... The Sea Gull Inn was perfect for us and we would definitely stay there again!!!

This is the perfect place to stay if you are out and about in Mendocino. Lovely little rooms and really friendly staff. I would definitely come back!

Great find

4.4 on September 03, 2015

We enjoyed our stay at the Sea Gull Inn. Right in the center of town where you can walk to all kinds of restaurants and bars. Lovely staff and a sweet kitty named Sophie, who greets all the guests. We stayed in the room called the "shed". It was a bit smelly like moldy, musty but this could be due to it being attached to the laundry room. Would stay in a different room next time but will definitely return.

A lovely adventure!

4.8 on August 30, 2015

We were greeted by the very pleasant and helpful proprietor and shown to our lovely room. Everything was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the room was quiet. After a lovely night's sleep, we enjoyed our breakfast and fresh coffee in-room. It is an excellent value for location and comfort.

Great stay in Mendocino B&B

4.0 on August 16, 2015

Great room with very little noise from upstairs guests. Comfortable bed, small bath with shower; had everything one needs for a hotel/B&B. Outstanding service from staff, who were able to get me an earlier breakfast due to an early checkout. I really appreciated that! Amazing breakfast: OJ, hot chocolate, fresh fruit and a large muffin with cream cheese.

Sea Gull in Mendocino

3.4 on August 16, 2015

The Sea Gull Inn couldn't be better situated. Park your car and forget it. Walk everywhere, views are spectacular. If you are looking for the typical Parlor type B&B where you gather for breakfast with others to share experiences the Sea Gull doesn't have that but your breakfast is served directly to your room.

4.8 on August 13, 2015

The bed was very comfortable, and the room was quiet. Each morning a delicious breakfast was brought to our door. The muffins were absolutely the best I've had, but the coffee was week. We stayed in Lookout one so we had a porch to sit and read on. It would have been nice to have a small blanket for the cool nights and mornings. Staff was excellent.

Wonderful Anniversary Visit

4.8 on August 06, 2015

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Sea Gull Inn for our first wedding anniversary. We stayed in the shad, and were very pleased with the room. We loved that it was a bit separate from the house to give a little privacy. We also loved the gardens, and took full advantage of them - enjoying a glass of wine out there at night was amazing! Breakfast was also delicious; we also enjoyed the garden during breakfast. It was awesome to have a home cooked pastry and fruit every morning - it was a great start to the day!

A Fine Stay

3.0 on July 29, 2015

We enjoyed our stay in our little room in the shed. We were told it would have an "earthy" smell and I wonder if I'd have noticed if that suggestion hadn't been planted in my brain! The breakfast was simple but tasty, brought to our room. I actually would have preferred being able to have it delivered earlier than was allowed so we could head out and investigate the area, but we dealt fine with it. The people running the B&B were friendly when we encountered them, but of course it's not the sort of place where you sit around in a room together and chat. It's more of a private sort of stay place.

Very Pleasant, Close to Everything

4.6 on July 25, 2015

We stated two nights and felt right at home. Comfortable room and excellent breakfasts, which we enjoyed on the porch. Laura, Jim and Ayla were exceptionally accommodating and helpful. Walking distance to anything you'd want to visit in the area. It was built some time ago and as has the feel of an old-world New England Inn. We'll stay there again next time we visit.

The Seagull Inn is a great Value

4.8 on March 27, 2015

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Seagull Inn, and, as usual, had a marvelous time. The room is lovely and affordable and perfectly situated on the edge of town. The owners - Jim and Ayla, are friendly and helpful, sharing information about what to see and where to eat. They serve a delicious breakfast at your room for no additional cost. The gardens at the Seagull are quite beautiful and a good place to sit and enjoy a good book or a quiet snooze. I think you'll find it as enjoyable a place to stay as we have for these many years. Our Anniversary outing

4.0 on March 12, 2015

The atmosphere was quite peaceful and quaint. We enjoyed the beauty from our porch and the awesome scenery on the grounds. Just a short walk to the shops and the eateries The Mendocino Cafe right next door and Patterson's. Our favorite part was breakfast with a berry yogurt muffin and lots of good coffee. This stay far exceeded our expectations in every way. All I can say as the words of the governator "I'll be back".

Wonderful B&B

3.4 on March 09, 2015

The Sea Gull Inn was a great place to stay in Mendocino. The location is perfect. It is close to everything. It was relaxing and quiet. Breakfast was delicious and couldn't be more convenient served directly to the room. The only caveat is if you are looking for a B&B with common areas this would not be your place.

Close to town

3.2 on March 08, 2015

Located right in town, it was a pleasant walk everywhere and any where you wanted to go. Our room, Outlook 1 - There was one hanger in the closet (for two people to share?). The bathroom was small with no shelving or place to put any toiletries except on the toilet seat. It was also a bit tatty. - dry rot, musty smell. Towels were like sandpaper. Shower stall was VERY small with no water pressure at all and the nozzle was permanently affixed so that what spray there was, was aimed at the corner. I must have hit my arm on the wall 50 times. Continental breakfast was very good and delivered to our room (no common dining area). Garbage trucks came at 7:30am, 8:00am and another one a bit after that. Don't plan on sleeping in! Even after we told the maid we'd be gone on 15 minutes, she still knocked on our door three times. Nothing like starting the day feeling rushed. Innkeeper was friendly and animated and welcoming. Bed was very comfortable and the room had plenty of beautiful natural light. Perfect place over the walled-up fireplace (non-working) for a flat screen TV but alas, no TV. Deck outside had two comfortable rocking chairs with a commanding view of the ocean. The garden was partially in bloom and absolutely gorgeous. Might stay here again in a different room.

Innkeeper Response
We would like to thank the guest for taking the time to provide a review, and thank them for the positive aspects. We do wish they would have let us know that there were missing hangers or if they would prefer one of our available rooms that had a television. Unfortunately, despite our efforts over 8 years, we are unable to affect the timing of the weekly trash pick-up. While none of the staff on duty this particular day remembers multiple trips to the room, we regret that we apparently made the guest feel rushed when we were looking to remove the breakfast tray. Prior staff who made guests feel rushed have been dismissed, and current staff normally excel at making the guest feel comfortable. We will endeavor to ensure the guest is not rushed.

A weekend in Mendocino

3.4 on February 05, 2015

Everything was lovely, except the mattress was too soft.

I will definitely return here if I am in the region

4.2 on January 30, 2015

I had reserved only for 1 night but the next day I decided immediately to extend my stay at the Sea Gull Inn and it became my home while visiting this county. My first room was the Look-out-one room which has a nice sitting porch which is the ideal place to take your breakfast. My second room was the Sand-Dollar Room and has a very nice view with a spot on the ocean. The best thing of the Sea Gull Inn, beside the very nice hosts and very comfortable beds, is that you fall asleep with the sound of the ocean and a frog concerto (January) and that you wake up again with the sound of the ocean but this time combined with the singing of the birds and if you are lucky, the sun shining brightly into your room (both my rooms) It was definitely one of the most charming places I have ever stayed and as a Dutch/Swiss I am a big traveler and looking for quality PS: although I had to give a review on the dining, there is no dinner served, but very good restaurants around. The hosts will definitely give you suggestions as per your wants

Absolutely the Best Romantic Getaway Bed & Breakfast

5 on January 29, 2015

We have ventured to other B&B's "just to try it out" that were more expensive and huge disappointments compared to the Sea Gull Inn. We will never stray again! The rooms are super clean and the beds are INSANELY comfortable. My fiance (official from our Mendocino trip last weekend!) has a sensitive back and the bed can make or break the trip. To be honest, part of the excitement of a mendocino getaway for us IS the bed at the Sea Gull Inn. A wonderful night's sleep. The owners are incredibly nice and always seem to remember us which makes me feel very special. They are welcoming and the breakfasts they make are absolutely wonderful. Warm large muffins and fresh fruit and orange juice and yogurt and coffee! Mmmmm! You can walk everywhere - it's right IN town and if you stay anywhere else you've made a mistake. (Just don't be in my favorite room when I try to go! LOL) I know this is a rave review but I honestly cannot think of ANYTHING they could improve upon. :)

I felt lucky to find a room on Nwe Years day with short notice. Checkin wa simple as the reservation was made via Internet. Room was clean and cozy. Bathroom is small, but it was ok for us. Just what we needed!

5 on November 28, 2014

Our four day stay in the Sand Dollar room at the Sea Gull Inn was just what we needed. Mom and I had planned a goodbye trip with a friend of ours who as it turned out was too ill to travel. Jim and Ayla were very accomodating and understanding with our last minute change of reservations. Once there, the warm and cozy room, the comfortable beds, and the delicious breakfast brought to us every morning, were just what we needed. We usully didn't get up and dressed and out of our room until around 2:00 every day. When we finally did venture out, the whimsical garden reserved hidden delights in every corner. The town of Mendocino is charming, and we came home rested, renewed, and refreshed.

The Sea Gull Inn is a Perfect Place to Stay

5 on November 06, 2014

We had spent 3 weeks traveling in California and had stayed a various places including several B&Bs. We were very pleased with the Sea Gull Inn. The owners are gracious and informative, the room was very comfortable and very clean, and the breakfast was delicious! It is located within Mendocino, with a short walk to downtown and the surrounding park with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean

3.6 on October 31, 2014

The SeaGull Inn is conveniently located in Mendocino, within walking distance of the major in-town areas. The rooms are of varying sizes and shapes, but all are comfortably outfitted. Our room had a stove and heater in the basement to supplement for the cooler evenings. There is no AC. The breakfast was generous and served in room, since there is no communal dining area. The grounds have a variety of seating areas and some interesting plant life and artwork. A pleasant space to stay in Mendocino town.

Great location, charming rooms

3.2 on October 14, 2014

We stayed here for a single night, in a very pleasant room that opened onto a garden courtyard. Our only complaint about our experience was that the management disturbed us multiple times in the morning about the breakfast tray, and rushed us at checkout, coming by to get the keys. Other than that it was a nice and very comfortable room in a great location right in town.

Innkeeper Response
Ayla and I, Jim, (the owners) would like the reviewer to know how much we regret that our staff disturbed and rushed them. This is not how we wish our guests to be treated and it is not how we have trained our staff. However, the situation has given us pause and opportunity for re-education with a renewed focus on our customer service. Since reading this review the day it was posted, we have gone back and rewritten our training guidelines and sat down with each of our staff members to emphasize what Ayla and I expect of staff, that being: the happiness, comfort and well being of our guests from the moment they arrive to the moment they depart.

I decided to take a last minute weekend trip to Mendocino for some R&R. I could not find a place to stay. So I found the last room at the SG B&B. Great price and location. Oh my gosh it is an awesome place to stay. The beach was across the street and restaurants and walking distance. I stayed for 2 nights and I loved it. The room was gorgeous and so clean. The bed was heavenly! I can't believe that breakfast was included and delivered to my room. I would definitely recommend the Sea Gull B&B. The Inn keepers are so nice and helpful. I give this place 4 stars!!! Thank you Jim and Ayla! MO

Usually I'm not a fan of Bed and Breakfast Inns, that said, we were surprised and very happy to find that we were wrong in this instance. The Sea Gull Inn from start to finish is a class act. Our room was exquisitely decorated and super clean and the bed gave us the best sleep ever. Breakfast was delivered to our room and was perfect. The hostess is casual friendly but not pushy. I would say that if we are going to Mendocino again we will definitely stay at the Sea Gull Inn.

July 4th Weekend

4.2 on July 07, 2014

Our second stay at the Seagull Inn. We have not stayed in the main house because we enjoy the separate cottages called the Shed and the Barn. Both are nice and extremely comfortable. Both have televisions with cable channels. The staff has always been welcoming with a satisfying breakfast delivered promptly to the room. The gardens are what I truly appreciate which are beautifully maintained. Having breakfast in the garden on one of several outdoor tables is truly enjoyable. The inn location is great, close to the Main Street businesses. Moody's coffee shop is a short walk for a morning latte. My only request would be a source for hot water for evening tea. Access to a microwave or water dispenser would be nice. We would highly recommend the Seagull Inn

Honeymoon Under A Blood Moon

4.8 on April 26, 2014

With such beautiful surroundings you wouldn’t think a Bed & Breakfast would make a difference. We came for our honeymoon expecting to have a very pleasant stay in this classic Northern California town. But it was the Seagull Inn’s quaint, impeccable, and unique (all the rooms are different) room; its comfortable and attractive sitting garden; and its very friendly and well informed proprietors (gardeners and cooks!) , Jim and Ayla, that turned our stay into a memorable experience. The Inn is unpretentious and very affordable; offers a secure WiFi connection; and provides a tasty room-served multi-item gluten-free breakfast. It is walking distance from the Mendocino shops and restaurants and the Mendocino Headland trail (a nature trail from which you can observe much of the local plant and animal wildlife (check out our room’s guestbook for a list of species we saw), and if you are lucky, a whale or two). If you want good shopping, great food, and spectacular views—we were lucky enough to view a full lunar eclipse from our room’s veranda—consider Mendocino. If you appreciate enhancing your visit with accommodations that are cozy, quiet, considerate, and attractive, choose Mendocino’s Sea Gull Inn.

Very friendly hosts. Due to circumstances beyond our control (work and illness) we had to twice cancel our reservations. The hosts took this in stride and held our deposit on file until we were finally able to make it. This historic and beautiful inn was just what we were looking for in Mendocino; excellent breakfasts, comfortable and warm room, cozy bed, and shopping/eating within easy walking distance. If we ever get a chance to go back, this is where we'll stay.

Valentine's Day getaway

5 on March 13, 2014

My husband and I have stayed here 4 times now. Each time, Jim and Ayla are very helpful hosts. This stay Ayla recommended a film showing the town was putting on day after Valentine's Day, which we attended and enjoyed very much. The breakfasts are always lovely. This was our first stay in the Geranium Room, our usual rooms choice is/was Lookout 1 or 2, but the Geranium Room was larger and actually fit our needs better, will be our fist choice now. Would recommend this B&B as a lovely place to stay. You can park your car once and walk the entire town, as they are close to everything.

Best Value in Mendocino

This may be the oldest of the Inns of Mendocino but this place is by far the best. From the sheets to the towels, the breakfast the well done rooms and location is walking distance to everything you need to enjoy in town. We had a most pleasant stay at the Seagull B&B recently and would be happy to recommend it. The owners, Jim & Ayla, are very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are furnished with a variety of antiques and more modern items which make it all very homey and inviting. The beds are extremely comfy, and the breakfasts are delivered to your room in the morning at a convenient time and feature homemade muffins, fresh-cut fruit and lots of delicious coffee, complete with fresh flowers. I understand there's an egg dish on Saturdays...we'll have to include that with our next visit. A very cozy place for your Mendocino Coast getaway.

4.6 on December 01, 2013

This is our second stay at this beautifully and lovingly maintained historic home and garden. The owners Ayla and Jim, along with their staff, could not be more accommodating; they were always available for any questions we had about the area. They also offer the perfect balance to privacy and interaction. After our three-night stay, it was a challenge to move on after such tranquility and pampering. Our light-filled comfy room was just the right size for the two of us, typically small in an older structure. I felt like a princess in our sumptuous bed, enveloped in luxurious linens. Without the delicious breakfast of homemade muffins and scones, fresh fruit and steaming coffee brought to our room at our prescribed breakfast time, I'm not sure I would have made it out of our snuggly bed for our morning walks along the beach and bluffs. We preferred not having to drive after out evening meal and drinks so the Sea Gull Inn was the perfect location at the edge of the small town, only a few minutes walk from any of the local restaurants. Each room has a different character at the Sea Gull so do ask about the differences when seeking accommodations. We stayed in Lookout Two, which has a room above it. One early morning we were awakened by guests moving about but this was a result of the lack of insulation in the floors of the old building. Nonetheless, we look forward to returning to the comfortable Sea Gull Inn for another pleasant stay.

Great location to town

4.0 on November 03, 2013

The room we booked initially (the Shed) was smaller than we had hoped for so the innkeeper gave us a larger room (Driftwood) which was perfect. Large sunny room with a nice size vintage bathroom.

A Very Relaxing Stay

4.8 on August 18, 2013

It was our first visit to Northern CA and it was worth it. Staying at the Sea Gull B&B was a great choice. Jim and Ayla were super hosts. The location, our room , and breakfast were all great. We found our hosts to very friendly and both made us feel at home. We stayed 3 nights and if we had time would had stayed longer. One thing you need to do is to walk down to the beach. The sight of the river, ocean and cliffs coming together is just beautiful. And it is only a short walk from the Sea Gull. Till this day my wife and i still talk about breakfast and the beauty of Northern CA.

My home away from home

4.2 on August 10, 2013

I've been staying at the Sea Gull for upwards of 30 years, and it just gets better every time I come here for a bit of a "get-away". The rooms are lovely and very clean, in a beautiful, quaint garden setting; great breakfasts served in-room, and charming & helpful hosts. What more can I say? I look forward to each and every visit.

Honeymoon bliss!

5 on August 06, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Seagull. From the comfy beds and lightly lavender scented sheets to the inn's beautiful gardens and scenery of the nearby town and bay, we loved this quaint historic inn with friendly and accommodating innkeepers. We stayed in Lookout 1, from which we could see trees, people arriving for the music festival, and waves crashing on the far-off cliffs. We also enjoyed the two big white rocking chairs on the porch. The breakfast was so delicious and served to our room, warm sundried tomato and artichoke heart quiche, with fresh local organic fruit, yogurt, pot of coffee, tea, and orange juice. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing and charming honeymoon stay!

Beautiful spot, well located

3.0 on August 03, 2013

Our first visit to California and we had travelled from a lovely hotel in San Francisco. The location was excellent within easy walking distance of the beach and the cafes and shops. Our room was very comfortable with an excellent bed. Our only disappointment was the breakfast. It is served in your room which is fine if you aren't sociable in the morning (we missed meeting other guests) but was quite small. One muffin, a small bowl of fruit and an egg cup of yogurt was not what we had expected for the such a high price.

Nice place

My wife and I loved the stay so much we thought of staying longer or returning soon. Thanks for a delightful stay. R. Luna

Perfect for a Quick Getaway

4.0 on July 05, 2013

The Sea Gull Inn turned out to be the perfect place for a quick getaway. Our room was cozy and comfortable and the location of the inn can hardly be beat. All the fun of Mendocino Village is right out your door, including the shops, great restaurants, and the beautiful ocean scenery. Breakfast was just the right start to our day, and we were well taken care of the whole time. And, by the way, the rates are very reasonable! Thanks to innkeepers Jim and Ayla for a great stay!

Lovely, lovely, lovely

5 on April 11, 2013

Just spent 3 nights at The Seagull and enjoyed the room, breakfast, gardens, Sophie the cat, the host, and hostess. I was sad to leave. I hope to come back one day.

.The Seagull Inn in Mendocino

5 on February 27, 2013

My husband and I enjoyed three nights at the Sea Gull Inn in Mendocino. We loved our room, The Shed. It was charming, clean and had everything we needed. The Inn keepers and staff were friendly and helpful when asked for resturants.etc.The flat screen was nice for watching TV or DVD's. The most appreciated part of staying at the Sea Gll Inn was the location. We left our car parked at the Inn and walked everywhere. We plan to return and are sharing our experience with our friends.

A weekend at Sea Gull Inn

Great B&B

Great place to stay

5 on July 19, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Sea Gull Inn 2 years ago and loved it. This month my mother and I were driving up the coast and all she wanted to do was stay at the Sea Gull. Both my husband and I had talked about how wonderful and homey it was. It was just as great as I remembered. Jim and Ayala are so welcoming and make you feel like special from the time you check in. Then there is the breakfast! I have stayed at many B&Bs and find this one of the best breakfasts I have had. I would recommend that anyone that wnats a wonderful experience with a great B&B you should stay at the Sea Gull Inn. Anytime of the year is great!

A Peacful, Comfortable Retreat

4.0 on July 18, 2012

The lovely photos and reviews I saw of this inn before my arrival did not prepare me for how enchanting, peaceful, and comfortable my stay would be. No ground line phones in the rooms and the bare minimum of needed services made this a true retreat. I could get what I needed and then withdraw into the cozy room or blooming garden. Everything from the luxurious king-size bed to the wood stove made the Driftwood room most inviting. The breakfast tray, delivered directly to the room each morning, was always a meal to look forward to. Mellow hosts, artistic cooks, considerate maids, a beautiful setting, and Sofia the cat greeting guests on the front porch. I'll be going back.

Heavan on Earth

Oh yes, steps to town and a tasty Organic breakfast on top of it all THIS IS THE PLACE FOLKS ARE LOOKING FOR...WE'LL BE BACK !!!

Great place to spend the weekend in Mendocino

4.4 on June 12, 2012

My husband and I spent the weekend in Mendocino in June. We stayed at the Geranium room which is on the 1st floor. Nice room; very clean and comfy. Breakfast was great...all organic and very tasty and freshly baked. Jim and Ayla are very nice. We also met Sandy and Consolacion when we checked out... both nice and sweet ladies. I will recommend this B&B. Very good value for your money. Danny & Connie G

A Keeper

4.4 on May 09, 2012

This was the first time in years my son and daughter had time off from their student schedules at the same time. We went to San Francisco and Mendocino to celebrate. Loved staying at “ the Barn “ with its loft, its double-Dutch doors, its rustic feel and its privacy from all the other rooms. The gardens were gorgeous, the inn-keepers so helpful and friendly, and the breakfast, which was served in our living room was great! The central location was a real plus as well. Highly recommend it.

A night in Mendocino

Will stay there again if we can - this time for longer if possible.

Charming...simply charming.

5 on April 15, 2012

My daughter and I stayed at the Sea Gull Inn for two evenings recently and everything about the stay was absolutely charming. It can be difficult to please a teenager, but Jim and Ayla took such good care of us, and the room was sooo accommodating and beautiful and comfortable that we both were like happy little pups the entire length of our stay. Even the stormy weather was wonderful when coupled with this charming room. Thank you- we will be back.

Cozy and Inviting....

5 on March 12, 2012

My husband and I spent 2 very wonderfully relaxing days at the Sea Gull Inn last week. We really enjoyed the cozy and quiet room, and the breakfasts were absolutely marvelous! Jim and Ayla are wonderfully attentive innkeepers and make you feel very welcome in their lovely little town of Mendocino. Will definitley be returning to the Sea Gull Inn in the future!

Lovely inviting Inn, room was nicely decorated. Inn had a garden that enticed you to lounge.

5 on March 11, 2012

Innkeepers Ayla and Jim were friendly and attentive. Felt like I was at a friend's home, yet privacy was special while napping in the room. Looking forward to staying next trip for longer! This is a special Inn right in Mendocino with the convenience of being able to walk everywhere. A true find!

Peace & Tranquility and great Scones

4.2 on March 03, 2012

Great getaway from the busy city life. Flew in from outer state and loved the quietness and small community. One of the best things is their scones yum!!! The rooms are nice & cozy the owners told us of gret places to taste wine & eat, i.e; Toulouse Winery, Great Garlic Fries & Food in Fort Bragg and LePetite Riv in Mendocino. The owners, Ayla & Jim are very nice and accommodating people. One of the most relaxing things was having no phone, newspaper, or tv, just sitting in the garden and reading hearing the Pacific Ocean in the distance. One day we would love to go during Whale watching season.

Wonderful Getaway!

5 on January 05, 2012

We lover our stay. All the rooms in this historic house have their own character. The service was great, the breakfasts were delicious, we had a room with a view of the ocean! This was our second stay and we are looking forward to our third! Thank you Ayla, Jim, & Sparky!

Perfect in every way!

Last time we stayed at the Sea Gull Inn was wonderful, and this time it was even better! We had 3 relaxing days at the Inn to celebrate our anniversary, and our stay was perfect in every way. Jim and Ayla, the owners, were kind, thoughtful, helpful, and extremely friendly, as always. Their beautiful breakfasts are consistently tasty, and lovingly presented. It’s definitely a treat to stay at the charming Sea Gull Inn. Highly recommended!!

Christmas Day at the Seagull Inn

4.2 on December 31, 2011

My girlfriend and I had never been to Mendocino so we decided we'd take a quick trip for an overnight stay for Christmas. We were pleasantly surprised at the quaintness of the "shed" that we stayed in. The property owners were very pleasant and accommodating and were a wealth of information. Very cool downtown with lots of shops to check out. Ocean trails, biking and views were awesome. We will definitely be back in 2012.

A Nice Break

5 on December 28, 2011

This was my second time staying at the Seagull Inn and as before it was a wonderful experience. I stayed in "The Shed" and it was like having my own private retreat. Jim and Ayla both make you feel right at home. I can't wait to go back.

Cozy and Cute

5 on October 13, 2011

My husband and I rented the Shed for one night on 9/25-9/26. Could it be any cuter? That door with the stain glass window is just gorgeous! We were in love with this place! So cozy and the bed so comfortable. Ayla was super sweet and we had the most simple delicious breakfast brought to our room in the morning. Clear blue skies, warm weather and no fog made this the perfect side trip from our CA vacation! John & Colleen Stewart-- Bristol, WI

Mendocino Delight

4.6 on September 15, 2011

Our stay at Sea Gull Inn was wonderful. We loved the little Shed Room. It was cozy and very comfortable. The location couldn’t be better - within walking distance to shopping, dining, etc. The owners were so personable and very helpful with restaurant suggestions. We enjoyed walking along the bluff overlooking the Pacific. Great little town, great B & B.

Most Wonderful B&B - Loved See Gull Inn! Will Definitely Go Back!

5 on September 12, 2011

Ayla & Jim - the hosts and owners were extremely kind, helpful, sweet and caring. They made sure we had everything we wanted or needed, they made a difficult reservation for us at 955 Ukiah restaurant (delicious), made sure we knew how to get everywhere, showed us all the special things about our charming room, gave us names of their colorful exotic plants that surround the Inn (really magical sitting areas amongst the most beautiful gardens), provided us with the most incredible breakfasts (special egg dish, fresh fruit, OJ, yogurt, good coffee - Sat & homemade pastry with everything else on Sun) that arrived right on time, and they were just the nicest couple you ever wish to meet. We could not have been more pleased with our way too short stay - we can't wait to go back!

Beautiful B&B - Wonderful Hosts

4.2 on August 14, 2011

We only had one night at the Sea Gull, and I wish it had been a week! The owners were very warm, and our rooms were gorgeous. With fanciful driftwood art dotting the garden, the grounds are a nice place to explore, too. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Whether you're a carnivore or vegetarian, the owners gladly accommodate your dietary requests. This would be a great place to stay while you explore the area around Mendocino.

Fantastic place to stay!

4.6 on July 27, 2011

We loved every minute of our stay at Sea Gull Inn. We booked it for 2 nights, and what a fantastic 3 days we had... The amenities, the service, the room - everything was wonderful. We would love to return and highly recommend this place.

Lovely Inn and Owner

5 on July 21, 2011

The service was great. Ayla greeted us warmly; she really loves operating this inn! My mother and I stayed in the Sand Dollar room. It was very cute, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast tray was wonderful and as beautiful as the pictures on their web site; we sat outside on the sunny deck enjoying eating and chatting with other guests. I would love to go back and stay there again!

Such a wonderful place to stay.

4.8 on July 16, 2011

We came on 30th June and Ayla and one room was only available for one night at first. We wanted to stay in Mendocino for two nights and in some way it was solved and that we do not regret. We just love Mendocino and the Sea Gull Inn. Thanks Jim and Ayla for making our stay so wonderful! /Bo-Ivan & Zoi Stockholm, Sweden

My Favorite Mendocino B&B

5 on July 09, 2011

Jim and Ayla do such a great job making their cosy B&B a warm, welcoming place. The breakfasts are fresh and delicious, the location is perfect and easy to walk to from anywhere in Mendocino. The decor is clean and sweet. Prices are reasonable. I am looking forward to my next visit. Teri from San Francisco

Best Mothers Day treat

5 on May 09, 2011

My 5 year old daughter and I stayed over night in Lookout one and had a fabulous time! It wasn't our first time at Sea Gull...I've been staying there off and on for 10 years...Great place! Great people, very clean comfortable rooms and great breakfast. We'll be back!

What a weekend!

5 on April 26, 2011

I love Mendocino and wanted to introduce it to a college friend who is a historic preservationist. We stayed in the Sand Dollar room and loved every minute of our visit! The inn is cosy and old fashioned, clean and cheery. The owners greeted us on our arrival and gave us a wealth of information about the inn and the town. After a restful night we were presented with a gorgeous breakfast tray in our room - coffee, fresh fruit, yogurt and huge raspberry muffins, still warm from the oven. It was a beautiful, quiet oasis from an otherwise hectic trip. We'd love to come again.

Perfect Birthday Getaway

4.6 on March 28, 2011

My birthday treat from my wife, two nights at the Sea Gull Inn in Mendocino, couldn't have been more enjoyable. Even the weather was a Spring respite from the raging winter we left behind in Sacramento. Having stayed at the Sea Gull Inn more than 30 years before, I was impressed at how it had become downright elegant, when once it was at best funky chic. The friendliness of the Innkeepers and staff, including Sophie the Cat, really contributed to the comfort of our stay. The delicious breakfasts were the perfect compliment to my perfect birthday dinner at the nearby Cafe Beaujolais. We will return and recommend to our friends and family.

Delightful, quiet, and great location.

4.8 on November 27, 2010

The Sea Gull Inn is delightful and charming. The location is great. We stayed in the "Barn" room and enjoyed the quiet and peacefulness of the space. We appreciate the privacy of the Inn, and enjoy the breakfast brought to us in our room. Really fabulous restaurants are only a two minute walk away. We have already made our reservations for next year, and look forward to the stay.

A Charming B&B in the heart of Mendocino

3.8 on October 21, 2010

My husband and I had a wonderful 3 night stay. Our room was cozy and clean, the bed was comfortable and we slept like babies. Jim and Ayla are gracious, kind and eager to please. The breakfast is above and beyond the typical B&B fare.

Great place for visiting the Mendocino coast!

4.6 on October 12, 2010

We wanted a comfortable, cozy, and special place to stay for 2 nights in Mendocino. We were so happy with the Sea Gull Inn, the innkeepers and the location, we've decided to give our son and daughter-in-law a two night stay for their 10 year anniversary. In addition to being a lovely place to stay with a delightful breakfast in our room, we received excellent recommendations for places to eat and things to see, including the Botanical Gardens and just the right place to view the sunset! We will return.

Charming and delightful

5 on October 02, 2010

My partner and I had a wonderful experience here which made our whole weekend special. They serve breakfast in your room and there are many places, on the grounds, for an afternoon picnic or enjoy your morning breakfast. The innkeepers are very gracious and happy to help with restaurant reservations or provide beach access instructions.

very good service; clean place

4.2 on September 29, 2010

Enjoyed everything about Seagull Inn but had the following observations you may want to be aware of: 1) walls are thin and 2) no TV. Otherwise, very cute place that is kept clean. Towels are extremely clean. We will stay here again.

Great Spring Break

5 on August 18, 2010

My wife & I really enjoyed the room as well as the perfect Mendocino location. We would highly recommend.

What a wonderful anniversary!

5 on June 22, 2010

38 year anniversary and we spent at Sea Gull Inn. It was our first time at a bed and breakfast. It was wonderful and hope to go back in the near future. I only wish they served lunch or dinner, because the breakfast was great! My husband said the coffee there was better than the coffee in town. We hated to leave and come back home. Thanks Sandy, Alya, and Jim for a wonderful stay. Say Hi to Sophia. She a sweet cat! Janice And Dave Silvera

5 on May 29, 2010

The Sea Gull Inn is by far our favorite B&B ANYWHERE!!! Jim and Ayla (and Sophie the cat) are wonderful hosts, and have created paradise. Our favorite room, Lookout 1, is beautful, warm and inviting, the breakfast was so delicious with generous portions, and just walking into the garden gives a sense of beauty and peacefulness. We can't wait to return, to re-live the experience of being pampered!

I would stay here again.

3.4 on April 23, 2010

A single traveler, I spent 2 nights at the Sea Gull Inn. The first night, which was in The Shed was mixed. The decor was charming and comfortable, but several sowbugs from the garden kept finding their way in and proceeded to crawl around the bathroom floor and up the walls in the main room. They aren't dangerous, and it wasn't a hoard of them, but it was a bit annoying. One even managed to make its way into my computer case. At night in The Shed, two racoons crawled up on the roof and reminded me that I wasn't in the city any more. They do make a lot a noise. I couldn't get the bathroom window to close completely either, so I stuffed a towel in it. This also helped cut down on the draftiness. However, the heater worked very well. The second night I was in The Abalone Room. This room had nice views of the garden and had better natural light than the shed. No sowbugs here, but when the wind picked up the bathroom window rattled enough to interfere with my sleep. Not to worry, I stuck a handy item between the window and the sill--it worked! The breakfasts were delicious, and it was wonderful to have them delivered to the door. The people were very nice and friendly. I would stay here again. I felt it was good value for the money, and most of my complaints are simply a result of the Inn being in an old house which doesn't fit together as tightly as it once did.

April in Mendocino

3.8 on April 21, 2010

My husband and I spent a long weekend in the Lookout room. The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was nice, loved that it was delivered to our room. My husband would go over to the coffee place (Moodys) for a cap for him and a latte for me while we waited for breakfast. Very nice to be right in the center of Mendocino, walking to anywhere was so easy. We did have nice weather for a day and half, then on Sunday, when we were leaving, a very strong rain storm came in, in the process of packing the car and trying to keep dry, my husband forgot a bag that I had a couple things that I had bought in town. When we realized our mistake, I called and talked to the manager to see if he could find it, he did, it was right where we left it, I asked him if I sent some money, could he mail it....he said "no money was necessary" and he mailed it to us! We got it in about 3 days, I was so thankful for him doing that. We only live in Santa Rosa but a drive back to Mendocino would not have been our choice to retrieve our treasure. All in all, we loved our weekend (even with the rain), am planning on going again maybe for our anniversary in July.

Great Experience

4.2 on April 16, 2010

My wife and I had a wonderful time in Mendocino staying at the Sea Gull Inn. The housekeeper was very warm and welcoming. The family cat was very friendly too:-) We stayed in the Lookout Room with Ocean View. It is a nicely decorated room with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was with fresh organic ingredients and was delicious. The innkeeper was very knowledgeable about the area and gave us useful tips about the local attractions. We would recommend this place without hesitation.

Cozy escape

5 on April 06, 2010

My wife and I really enjoyed two nights in the newly remodeled room. The fireplace was perfect for the escape that we needed. We haven't enjoyed the rain this much in a long time. We overslept then sat by the fire a read until the sun came out. Then we walked around the bluffs and the village. Breakfasts were great, hosts are great, location and room was great. Thank you Jim and Ayala. Looking forward to our next stay.

Wonderful Romantic Getaway

5 on April 03, 2010

My girlfriend and spent two nights at the Sea Gull Inn in April 2010. We stayed in the Lookout 2 room, which actually has two beds, a nice couch, and a bit of extra space for relaxing. If you're looking for a comfy, homely bed and breakfast then this is the perfect place. The owners were tremendously nice, offering suggestions and responding quickly to any issues. We actually heard a sound from a smoke detector which had a dying battery in the middle of the night. I called the landlord and he was there to swap it out in minutes. Great response! The breakfast isn't much, but it was way better than we expected. Freshly baked coffee cake, fresh fruit and berries with some organic yogurt, and coffee. They'll bring extra coffee if you want, though we tended to go over to the Organic Coffee shop one block away which always had 4-5 types of coffee brewing. Mendocino is fantastic. We had a wonderful picnic, and we also went wine tasting in Anderson Valley. Also we went on many lovely walks. I highly recommend the Sea Gull Inn and we hope to return soon.

A Lovely Place to Stay

The best part was being in adjoining rooms (Lookout 1 & 2)--and TWO beds in one room--nearly unheard-of in the B&B world. We will definitely come back. Lovely, convenient, affordable--with delicious breakfasts and hosts willing to work with dietary restrictions. And the cat was the perfect homey touch.

We had a fabulous time at the Sea Gull Inn. The Innkeepers, Jim & Ayla were very friendly and helpful in providing us with tips on how to get the most out of our visit in Medocino. They also provided excellent service, wonderful & healthy breakfast in a tranquil environment. We brought our bicycles, and I pointed out other Inns to my daughters as we rode through the community and each time both of my daughters said, "We like where we are at better, at the Seagull Inn." We would happily stay there again. Julie, Amber and Madison Loredo

Our stay at the Sea Gull Inn was fantastic! It was definitely a new experience and a most pleasant one at that. Despite the rain, our mood was kept uplifted by the adorable paintings and the warm cozy setting. Falling asleep in the Sea Gull Inn with the sound of the storm outside made us feel safe. And waking up in the morning to a divine breakfast delivered personally to our door added to its perfection. Thanks for a very memorable stay.

My wife and I seem to get up to the charming village of Mendocino atleast once a month lately do to my work. Now that we have found the Sea Gull Inn, we have no desire to stay anywhere else. The rooms are clean and so wonderfully styled, each with it's own special twist. The host's, Jim and Ayla, are such sincere and sweet folks that just to start off the visit by seeing their friendly faces, makes for a refreasing experience. The food and price are what tops it all off with quality and reasonability. THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY!!
