Located in the Valley of the Moon in California’s Sonoma County, the Kenwood Inn and Spa is designed in the spirit of a Mediterranean Villa. Each of the Inn’s 29 guestrooms are appointed with fireplaces, featherbeds, Italian linens and luxurious robes. The intimate hideaway offers a wine bar exclusively for guests of the Inn, spa featuring results-oriented products and vinotherapy treatments, two outdoor heated saline pools, sunning terraces, a steam room and hot tub. Wake up each morning with a complimentary signature breakfast that includes a daily feature like eggs over grilled farm bread with asparagus and tomato basil cream sauce.

We were only there one night. Our room — above the lobby, I think the room number was 24, Kenwood King category — was huge and beautiful, with a huge and beautiful bathroom (shower for two with double shower heads, soaking tub, two sinks). We were not impressed with the breakfast selections; most places at this price point offer more options (not just ham, but a cheese platter; more fruit options; more than one hot dish). Neither the grumpy chef nor her helper monitored the buffet table or coffee carafes to provide refills. I had to ask the chef (who had a view of the buffet) if she had more of the little quiches, and I had to ask the helper to refill the coffee carafe (it gave me only a few drops). The manager heard me complaining about breakfast and the grumpy chef when I checked out. She came forward and offered to take off “resort fee” charge off my bill. I appreciated that. One more thing: when we checked in, we were offered a glass of sparking wine. It was prosecco — please, either offer something decent (preferably local) or nothing at all.

I have been al over he world and the Kenwood is now my top two places to stay. Italy is a bit far so this Tuscan delight in Sonoma is like being there. From the moment we arrived the tranquil and beautifully landscaped property welcomed us with serene beauty. The staff is trained to provide world class hospitality like the old days at the Ritz but the quaintness of a bed and breakfast making you feel like your home in a private retreat. 29 rooms but at the most part I saw 8 about the main pool or at lunch. A full time cabana host and bar it has the privacy you want but the perks too. Greeted with a glass of bubbly The staff is personable. You can also mingle and taste wine and cheese by the pool or have a cordial nightcap. Breakfast is healthy and efficient on the patio or dining room but it would be nice to have this area as a happy hour option too. The spa is under renovation but the spa treatments are relaxing and amazing. I am eager to return for the grand reopening. Landscaping is charming with fruit trees, roses and fountains Location has some of the best views of the Valley of the Moon and driving or biking distance to local wineries. I highly recommend VJB for the continued Italian experience serving up great Italian style wine, brick oven pizza and gelato too! Romantic, serene and dreamy. Donatella

We are locals from San Francisco but had a function to attend in Kenwood and this was a perfect place to stay. We stayed on property all Saturday and had one of their wonderful pizzas by the pool. Their breakfasts are quite good. We had a basic ground floor room which was more than wonderful. The staff, however, really makes the place a delightful place to stay.

I've stayed at Kenwood 7 times in the last 10 years and always had a wonderful, relaxing time. Currently without the on-site dining you must leave the grounds to get a proper meal and for me that was one of the pleasures of staying at the inn - to order lunch or a snack poolside and to have a delicious dinner in the evening. The breakfast was at the level of a Courtyard Suite - terrible and the wine bar is only open two nights a week so there is no where to get a drink except at the one hour daily wine tasting. Front desk staff were young women who were not trained or courteous. I had called in advance of my stay to schedule a massage and it was a disorganized and inefficient process. The changes to the room so far - I believe they are still in process - were not consistent with the style of the Inn - stark white paint and a sense of austerity vs. the warm tones, art and touches that made you feel like you were staying in an Italian villa. Very disappointing.

We miss the restaurant Completely closed) and the spa (effectively closed). The rooms are still very nice and the service good, but the prices are higher. The breakfast was a little on the skimpy side (too healthy).

Rarely have a stayed in a space where I truly just wanted to hangout all the time. From the reception to the beauty of the property and the design of the rooms, the KIS was lovely, charming, restful and elegant. The local wine pours and cheese by the pool each night was a great bonus, and served in their beautiful surroundings. There used to be a restaurant on the property, but it is no longer there which is unfortunate, they do however give you good recommendations for a dinner out. The KIS does serve a breakfast (which was wonderful each morning.) We will definately be back. Monty Wright

The property is charming! We loved its old world uniqueness and the fact that it is away from the crowded tourist areas. It was wonderful to walk out each day and see the beautiful vineyards and rolling hills. The breakfast and daily wine and cheese tastings were definitely a plus! The fireplaces in the rooms and around the courtyard were nice on chilly mornings and evenings. Although we didn't use either of the pools, they were both beautiful areas to relax, read, sun, or simply have a cocktail. We will certainly come back!

Very nice room and stay. Past reviews talked about the great food but I think the breakfast was good but nothing special. Room service food was very average as well. From what I hear there use to be a great restuarant onsite maybe last years fires caused the restuarant to close.
