About

We are setting the new standard for the American Bed and Breakfast Inn. We cater to the new generation of B&B guests who want something more than doilies, egg bakes, and cheap sherry. With no televisions in the rooms, we choose to be counter-cultural and encourage our guests to disconnect from the world in order to reconnect to each other. This is not an inn for traditional B&B people. We are attracting the next generation who want great food for breakfast, well beyond the traditional omelets, frittatas, and egg bakes of old. This is where you get to experience a chef’s creative innovation each morning, one of his 125 recipes for breakfast, such as Corndog Omelets, Tomato and Egg Soup with Grilled Cheese Croutons, or S’mores French Toast with house made Marshmallows. And, YES, WiFi is available for those who feel they must stay connected to the outside world, but our hope is that you will learn to leave all that aside to enjoy great Napa hospitality here at the inn and at the wineries. We are in the heart of downtown historic Napa with access to 400 plus wineries in the valley, and Sonoma is just a 15-minute drive away.

Amazing B&B

5 on July 11, 2017

Our stay was fantastic. Everyone was so friendly and incidentals for wine country exploring such as water bottles and even a backpack to enjoy during the visit were available. The breakfasts were delicious and fresh, along with fresh juice. Each morning was another different but fabulous meal! We highly recommend it!!!

Fantastic B&B

5 on May 15, 2017

I don't think I could say enough good things about this place or the couple who runs it that would do it justice. Jim and Jamie are so accommodating and on top of things and their B&B is so clean, relaxing and beautiful. The breakfasts we ate were outstanding and so different. Jim makes them fresh each morning. The breakfast area is very peaceful with running water and delicious scones/pastries to munch on as you wait for your breakfast to be served. Both Jim and Jamie made it a point to ensure we had a great experience outside the B&B as well. They recommended touring companies, restaurants, and things to do around Napa. They even called into a restaurant that's tough to get reservations for and got us a table for that night. This really was an incredible place that I would recommend to anyone staying in Napa. Thanks Jim, Jamie and your adorable pups for making it an unforgettable trip for us.

Innkeeper Response

Great reviews convince us

5 on May 10, 2017

This was my first visit to Napa. It consisted of a short two nigh stay, we squeezed in a day of wine tasting and a day of exploring the downtown Napa area. Our friends recommended the wineries and restaurants but couldn't provide any positive feedback on a place to stay. I researched various online sights and luckily stumbled across "The Inn on First". Since I did not want to drink and drive, we also decided to use their car driving service. At the end of our trip, we couldn't have been happier with our decision. The BnB was was very well maintained, the room was immaculate, the owners were extremely accommodating and the daily breakfast was fantastic. One of the owners is a professionally trained chef, he is on site and either oversees or cooks each plate served. The other owner was our personal driver for the wine tasting experience. From he day we booked our stay, he was attentive to our needs and full of great recommendations. I definitely recommend using the driving service. The BnB was full of great surprises; the friendliness of the staff, the decor, the cleanliness and the location was so perfectly located near downtown. We did the easy walk each night to different restaurants or in the early morning for a coffee. Really no need for the morning stroll since the BnB had everything we needed but I enjoy the morning walks. The constant positive reviews concerning this location are well-deserved and we will return. The owners are good people who provide a great oasis to remember be me why we need our little get-aways every so often. We left refreshed and happier than when we arrived. A big thank you to both of them for their efforts!

We are lucky to be located in an opportune location, on 1st Street, and we are happy to know you took full advantage of evening and morning strolls to town. Favorite B&B so far

5 on May 09, 2017

Elegant yet comfortable. The owner's were very helpful with letting us know some of the great places to visit according to our style, as well as arranging some of the activities for us and giving us maps of the places. And the food was amazing! Also received probably the best massage ever and had it in my room.

Innkeeper Response

Wonderful Home with Amazing Food

5 on April 30, 2017

My husband and I went to Napa to celebrate my birthday. We received a warm welcome from Jim upon arrival. The room was fantastic, bed was comfy and they had everything you needed from make up remover wipes to hairdryers. The breakfast each morning was amazing. Most of the days we didn't need to eat until dinner it was so filling and yummy! Sitting outside listening to the waterfall drinking coffee and eating breakfast was a nice treat. We highly recommend this place.

Innkeeper Response

Our favorite vacation spot!

5 on April 28, 2017

We LOVE the Inn on First. We have been four times now and have have never been disappointed. Jim and Jamie are the best - Jamie is amazing at helping you plan your stay (dinner reservations and wine tours and drives you if you wish) and Jim's breakfasts are fantastic!! The inn is so cute and cozy - it feels like a home away from home! I couldn't recommend it more strongly. It is hands down our favorite vacation spot!

Highly Recommend The Inn on First!!

5 on April 26, 2017

Pure delight. The ambience was classic & charming. The grounds were immaculate & the room was enchanting & the bedding & pillows were top quality. The breakfasts were creative, delicious & the group atmosphere with our fellow travelers was festive. I would stay here again if we are lucky enough to return to Napa in the future. The owners were energetic, helpful in their advice & run this business like they love what they do.

Innkeeper Response

Will be back again...

5 on April 17, 2017

This was our second stay at The Inn on First, and it was as amazing as we remembered. Jim and Jamie are fantastic hosts... welcoming, warm, accommodating and full of helpful advice. We have now stayed in the main and back building, and both times the rooms were beautifully appointed, cozy and comfortable. I discovered some new music thanks to Jamie's playlists! No review would be complete without mentioning how fantastic the food is. Jim outdoes himself each morning with the delicious breakfast creations, and my husband ate his weight in those chocolate chip cookies! If you are looking for a b&b experience that's far from ordinary, you won't be disappointed. We hope to be back in another few years!

Lovely Experience All Around

5 on April 10, 2017

This is my second stay at The Inn on First. The first time I stayed at Sweet Reserve in the Mansion. This time I stayed at Vintage Reserve which is one of the two honey moon suites. Vintage Reserve is my favorite. The location is quiet with plenty privacy. I love Jim and Jamie's gourmet breakfast and chocolate chip cookies. They also provide 20+ whole tea leaves selections. Walking into the living room, you find books, magazine, baby grand piano, chess board game and sherry. :) They also provide water bottle in case you need to stay hydrate through out the day while tasting wine. You can also find a picnic basket in your room in case the place you visit permitting on-site picnic. Just stop by Oakville Grocery or Oxbow Public Market for wide variety of picnic choices. I love staying there... it feels like a home away from home.

Innkeeper Response

Signature Dish

Corndog Omelet
Take an open faced omelet. Fill it with spinach, prosciutto, and pepper jack cheese. Roll it up into a long cigar shape. Cut it in half, dip it in corndog batter and deep-fry until golden brown. Served with mustard, this dish brings together the smoky, sweet, spicy goodness of breakfast in every bite.
