I loved my time at Sonoma Orchid Inn. The owners were warm and welcoming. The rooms (oak and Maple) were the upper level of the Farmhouse and were perfect for my group. Comfortable and clean. Breakfast was amazing. We are looking forward to staying there again next year!

Excellent service and knowledgeable owners make staying at the Orchid Inn a delight. Brian and Dana were never short of recommendations and a funny story that were always spot on and very entertaining. The house itself is exquisite and sipping wine on the veranda while watching the humming birds feed will be one of my enduring memories of my time there.

The Sonoma Orchid in is truly one of the best spots in the Russian River area. The house itself has such a special history and the current decor is a perfect mix of the traditional with touches of modern. We reveled in the jacuzzi with visions of stars and were treated to none other than a customized omelette from Chickens on the property, with seasonal veggies and fruit. They took such great care of us. On top of everything, the owners allowed me use of their personal computer to send that one important work email that had to be sent. I still advise leaving your laptop behind at home in order to truly sink into the fullest indulgent experience here at the Sonoma Orchid Inn. Carolee

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sonoma Orchid Inn. Breakfast was amazing (even though the power went out on the second day, we still had a great breakfast). The owners were very helpful in planning our outings for the days...very knowledgeable about the area! The inn is conveniently located near the Russian River wineries and the ocean. We would certainly stay there again!

Food was exceptioal and the location of the B&B turned out very well for our first visit to Sonoma. Innkeepers were informative about places to see and places to enjoy the food and wine of the area.

Dana and Brian were wonderful. They offered great advice and insiders' tips to maximize the Sonoma experience. Breakfast was a wonderful balance of local gourmet and a hearty start for a day of wine tasting or hiking. The rooms were warm, lovely, and tasteful. We had a wonderful experience.

Quiet, charming B&B away from the hub bub but very close to a multitude of fun activities - redwood trails, beaches, excellent wineries, good food and more. Welcoming hosts, cozy rooms, nice grounds for relaxing and across the road from the Russian River. Loved the guest kitchen. Excellent home made cookies, too.

We stayed one night at the Sonoma Orchid Inn and would definitely recommend it to others. The rooms were comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, and Dana and Brian were as helpful as could be. The common area was also very comfortable and we enjoyed visiting with the other guests there.

Dana and Brian were extremely gracious. They eagerly shared their knowledge of the area. Since space was available, we were given an upgrade on our room. Their four nights for the price of three weekday special made our trip much more affordable. The breakfasts were generous and delicious.

We had the most wonderful time. Dana and Brian are the greatest hosts and such special people. The food was more than amazing and we were felt to feel so welcome and at home. Teased that when we came back, we were moving in..."will work for room & board"! Seriously, a beautiful & magical place. Made that way by nature...and by Dana & Brian. Niceville, FL

Wonderful property - Brian and Dana welcomed us upon arrival and provided the nicest stay. Dana's featherbed eggs were delicious! The room was cozy and beautifully decorated. Enjoyed our stay tremendously.

Our stay was awesome! Brian and Dana made sure every question was answered during check-in and instantly made you feel welcome and at home. We selected the Hawthorn Cottage and were very pleased. The room was large enough for the king sized bed, sitting area, and a gas stove fireplace. The bathroom only has a stall shower, no tub. The patio sitting area provided my wife and I a great place to have cheese and wine while relaxing before we headed out to dinner. We met other guests and enjoyed the company. Breakfast was absolutely outstanding. Both days the meal included fresh fruit, breakfast meat, and a main dish. The meal was prepared exceptionally well. I would highly recommend the Sonoma Orchid Inn to anyone. It was a very resting, delightful, and thoroughly enjoyable stay. When we return to the area, we will definitely stay there again.

Highly recommend this lovely B&B in the woods. Brian and Dana are great hosts and they cook a mean breakfast. Really enjoyed our stay here. Comfortable rooms, great cookies, and total relaxation. And you are only about 30 minutes from the coast if you care to visit.
5 on April 05, 2012
The common areas of the Inn were plush and cozy and after greeting us, Brian made some dinner suggestions. Tea and fresh cookies are always available so we settled into the relaxing atmosphere at the Inn. We stayed in the Spruce room and found it to be good sized, furnished with some neat pieces appropriate for the period and very comfortable. There's not much of a view as it's facing some woods but we were mainly in the room at night so it wasn't a problem. The breakfasts were very good sized and delicious. Coffee started at 8am and at 9am, breakfast was served family-style at large tables so you could meet the other guests and compare notes for the day's plans. Dana was kind enough to give us one of the recipes when we asked about it, how great is that? We spent the weekend exploring the coast (less than 30 min away), meandering the rural backroads, hiking in the redwoods and stopped at a few wineries. This was a perfect, low-key getaway for us and the fairly rural setting reminded me of how the town of Sonoma used to be when I lived there a decade plus ago. It should be noted that the Inn is located in West Sonoma county, not near the town of Sonoma so if you're planning on hopping over to Napa or Sonoma valleys, there will be a decent amount of driving involved.

They owners of Sonoma Orchid Inn were very helpful from providing directions to providing information about community activities to finding the perfect restaurant. I enjoyed the room and the breakfast and was pleased with the company of the guests and proprietors. It was a very lovely get a way.

My wife and I are medical students in New Orleans and stayed at Sonoma Orchid Inn last June for our anniversary. We had a wonderful time. The accommodations were peaceful, and a great hopping off point to see the Russian River Valley. Our favorite parts: -great breakfast -innkeepers are great guides to local eateries and vineyards. They seemed genuinely interested in talking about the food and wine, and took the time to make sure my wife and I were going to places which would give us a great experience. If this is your first time in the area, I especially would recommend staying here.

great hosts. We returned to this B&B because we had such a great experience the last time we were in the area. On arrival, Brian greeted us and was very helpful with the luggage. He gave us an upgrade to our room which we really appreciated. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Dana also made us a dinner reservation to a great restaurant that we really enjoyed. The delicious breakfast included quiche, fresh fruit, muffins, sausage and coffee. There is lots to do in the area and would take days to explore all of the sights. The area has many wineries and beautiful areas for hiking and exploring. Brian recommended Corks for dinner and the food was terrific. We highly recommend this B&B and hope to return in the near future. Brian and Dana, thanks for another great stay in your B&B. Eileen and Mike Beard

My husband and I chose Sonoma Orchid Inn for our first bed and breakfast experience, and lets just say Brian and Dana set the bar high. We found Sonoma Orchid Inn on the internet, with no personal recommendation. We were impressed with the website and we were never disappointed for the duration of our stay. There is no false advertising going on here! Brian and Dana are very good hosts, as they are friendly and full of ideas on how to plan your day during your stay. We stayed in the spruce room and were very pleased. The room was clean and cozy. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were fantastic! Each morning we were more than satisfied with the breakfast served. We even left with a recipe which Brian and Dana were more than happy to pass on. We would highly recommend this bed and breakfast, and would be thrilled to have the opportunity to stay here again in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights stay at the Sonoma Orchid Inn and would most definitely return there. Dana and Brian make their home feel like you are in your own home and they both are exceptional innkeepers. Their suggestions as to wineries to visit and places to dine were perfect choices for us and they are very knowledgeable about the Sonoma area. More importantly, they were always patient with our (my!) questions and never made us feel like we were bothering them or that they were too busy to talk to us. Dana's breakfasts are fabulous and we always looked forward to what was on that morning's breakfast menu. The living room shared by guests is charming, comfortable and filled with light. We stayed in "Spruce" and were very happy with our choice. The room and adjoining bath were comfortable, clean and we liked it's proximity to the living and dining rooms. Dana and Brian and their wonderful Sonoma Orchid Inn are the reason we love staying at B&B's and they should be proud of the great job they are doing! We sure are grateful!

My husband and I were first time Napa Valley visitors and were not disappointed. The inn keepers were extremely friendly, even offered us an upgrade on our room. Breakfast was decklicious made from fresh ingredients. We even enjoyed a late night hot-tub. We can't wait to go back.

This is- by far- the best B&B I've ever stayed in. Brian and Dana created a real oasis in this charming, romantic, elegant inn. The location is perfect for both a highly romantic stay- with stunning scenic routes, rustic wineries & vineyards and the ocean all within minutes from the inn, or for an active romp in the Russian River. It's very close to downtown Guerneville but far enough to experience the peace, quite and beauty of the country. The rooms are spacious and romantic and the breakfasts are unbelievably good. The best "feature", though, are the incredible hosts who are kind, generous, extremely helpful with planning your days without being pushy or hovering. Highly recommended!!

We stayed for two nights in the main house and were very happy with our choice. Peaceful, comfortable, clean, great water pressure in the shower... The breakfast was just as great as all reviewers had said, and certainly a highlight of our stay. Dana and Brian were excellent hosts, and their restaurant recommendations were also spot-on!

Beautiful house, chocolate chip cookies, comfortable rooms, best breakfast I have ever had, (feta cheese eggs, homemade jam, biscuits, apple sausage, fruit, juice...) and very helpful owners. We sat down and mapped out our wine tasting day. The house smells nice like a farmhouse and has so much character and comfort.

My wife and I just finished 3 wonderful nights at this wonderful inn in the Russian River wine region. We had a huge room, complimentary internet service, a fireplace, refrigerator & microwave. The innkeepers were great...provided great suggestions on things to do, places to visit, etc. The breakfasts are outstanding. We highly recommend a stay here.

Friendly, helpful hosts Brian & Dana did everything they could to insure a pleasant stay at their B&B, and offered suggestions, maps, and recommendations for things to do, places to dine in the Russian River Valley. We enjoyed the delicious breakfasts for 6 mornings in a row, each one was unique and fabulous. The country setting was lovely and relaxed, rooms were clean and very comfortable. If we are back in the area, we will certainly stay again.

The owners first greeted us as we drove up and welcomed us warmly to the main house and our cottage. If you want a getaway with charm, but no hovering with a wonderful complimentary breakfast, this is the place. Add to this the charm and relaxing atmosphere of the main house living area, the clean rooms, pet-friendly and warm hospitality, you will remember this spot and come back time and time again. We will most certainly.

We had an awesome stay at this warm and inviting inn. We spent one night at a different place in town and it was not satisfactory. When we first saw this beautiful house and our very nice cottage, we knew we had made the right choice. Our cottage room was clean, spacious and nicely appointed. The bath was large and almost new. The main house is charming. We enjoyed visiting with our friends in the living room and had a great breakfast in the main dining room. Quiet and relaxing-we will come back! Brian and Dana are very attentive, and make you feel immediately welcomed but give you space at the same time.

This is our absolute favorite B&B and our go-to place to stay whenever we go to the Russian River, Dry Creek Valley or Alexander Valley. Comfortable, peaceful, relaxing, homey yet elegant with hosts Dana and Brian that are absolutely best-in class. This place is a gem!!

We were in the Sonoma and Napa area for a week and the Sonoma Orchid Inn was by far the most enjoyable place to stay. The Innkeepers are very nice and friendly and made us feel like we were old friends. The breakfasts were FABULOUS and the portions were enough to fill us up and then some. Dana and Brian were very helpful as far as making reservations for activities and suggesting local wineries to visit. We were very impressed with their recommendations and they made our trip a success. We will definately stay with them again and highly recommend it.

We booked 3 nights at the Inn last August as part of our tour of North California. I was really looking forward to the stay and we certainly weren't disappointed! Brian and Dana are very kind and attentive hosts. Despite arriving late, we were shown to the place and to our room on the night we arrive and the talk of the gourmet breakfast made my taste buds tingle in anticipation. Every morning we were served a delicious and hearty breakfast, with different dishes everyday. Brian and Dana patiently shared some tips with us on what to see and do. They are passionate about the area and that shows. They will even book a restaurant for you. The guest kitchen is a very nice touch and the chunky chocolate cookies a delight!! We would highly recommend the Inn to anybody, but essentially for a special occasion as it is so plush yet homely and romantic. Well done Brian and Dana, the Sonoma Orchid Inn is a rare find and a true gem.

Brian and Dana were great!! I was looking for a relaxing weekend away from everything that would be accomodating for myself, my girlfriend, and our dog. I did some resesarch and found the Sonoma Orchid Inn. From the website, everything looked great and I decided that I should call them to make sure they were indeed dog friendly. I spoke with Brian on the phone and he assured me that they were. I too his word for it and booked the Sequoia room. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Brian who showed us around the property and common areas. He walked us through the great room and we stopped in the common kitchen where they had fresh baked cookies on the kitchen table. That was our first taste of the delicious cooking that we would experience each morning :) They have a large book with all the local restaurants with directions and maps printed for each one. They offered to help us choose and make reservations. We are pretty self sufficient, but they were there for us whenever we needed anything. Overall, the customer service was top notch and I would definitely visit them again. I will be reccomending them to all of my friends and family.

This was our second year of reserving the Orchid Inn for our Machine Knitting club retreat. Between great meals, restful rooms and the great outdoors (including a yummy hot tub) I know this will be an annual event that we all will look forward to again. Dana and Brian go the extra mile to make a stay at the Orchid Inn, a true experience to be remembered! Claudia

You really must try this cozy quiet retreat, tucked away from the road and within walking (or stumbling)distance to wine tasting at Korbel. That is if you feel compelled to leave your room. I love this place! My hardest decision is which beautifully decorated room to select and when I can return. The breakfast is also wonderful.

Two years in a row our knitting guild has rented rooms at the Inn for a fabulous weekend. Brian and Dana are warm, accomodating and fabulous cooks. The Inn is charming, clean and has lovely comfortable grounds. There are plenty of chairs and places to relax outside. Brian and Dana are only too happy to give you a tour of the chicken coop (fresh eggs for breakfast) and point you on a delightful ten minute walk through the countryside to sample the wines at Korbel winery tasting room. They will make you reservations for dinner wherever you wish. Breakfast is absolutely top notch, and their trademark souffle and French Toast casserole are both gourmet taste treats. Sit in the hot tub after dinner and gaze at the stars. How could life get better? Brian and Dana provide a guest kitchen where you can use the refrigerator, make your own drinks, coffee and tea, and grab a corkscrew and wine glass to enjoy the wines you may have bought at nearby wineries. The living room of the house is for the use of guests and you have available a piano, games, different seating areas and plenty of space to get together with your friends or relatives. Last year we made a suggestion as to how to improve our room, and when we arrived this year, it was done. This year the toilet began draining slowly, but was fixed within a couple of hours of our mentioning it. I highly recommend this Inn for both a personal get away, or for a larger group gathering. The combination of the inkeepers' warmth, hospitality and culinary skills and the lovely old farmhouse are unbeatable.

I've stayed at this inn now several times, and found each room more charming than the last. The proprietors' cooking is both plentiful and delightful (and the cookies are out of this world!) Brian and Dana are so welcoming, I always feel like I've arrived home at my getaway destination.

I am the president of a Bay Area knitting group. For the second year in a row, we held our annual retreat at the Sonoma Orchid Inn. What a perfect place to spend time as a group. We rented the entire B&B and our hosts, Dana and Brian, accommodated us in every way possible. We were able to spread out in the cozy living room or lounge in the sun on the lawn. The rooms had great natural light; but as soon as the sun went down, our hosts were quick to offer us extra lamps so we could knit and chat as late as we wanted. The meals were superb. For an entire year our group has been craving Dana's oatmeal soufflé. It was even better than we remembered. We just got back and we are already looking forward to next year's visit. I highly recommend this place for groups. It's a winner.

The innkeepers at The Sonoma Orchid Inn were made to do what they do. The food was done so well. Dana cooks in an amazing style. He shares much of the bay area food philosophy of chef Alice Waters. Did I mention the cookies? The best cookies ever! Our room was very comfortable, and well furnished, with space for us to spread out. My wife and I slept so well in our accommodations. The bedding was so plush... Not only are the beds comfortable, and the breakfast superb, the innkeepers really know the area. Brain pointed us towards local hikes, wineries, and restaurants that we would have not found on our own. All we did was book a room and show up. Once we showed up, they literally helped us with finding points of interest in Sonoma County . The Russian River runs into the Pacific just down the road 15 or so minutes. We just loved being so close to the sea. Our time at the inn was very restful and nourishing. It's the only place my wife and I want to stay when visiting wine country in Northern California.

My honey and I love the Sonoma Orchid Inn. We've been there twice now and find it simply delightful. The innkeepers are very helpful and make a wonderful breakfast. They even took into special consideration my "South Beach" diet request. The inn's appointments are the right mix of elegant and country with beautiful orchid plants on display throughout. There is a lovely common sitting room/living room also with a nice selection of books and games.
