Great B&B

4.6 on April 27, 2018

Heather and Bud are awesome host, from start to finish. They greeted us with warmth. Heather explains all the details you need to know about the property for your stay. Parking is easily access. Grounds are nice and well kept. Home is clean. There is a nice big balcony to sit and chat with other guest from different parts of the world. especially at night next to the fireplace. Heather and Bud are very helpful in providing info on things to do on the Island. Buds breakfast is to die for :0) no really he provides a nice spread home made. We stayed in the Mermaid room and we loved it, cosy and comfy. Everything you would want from a B&B you will find it here at Mermaid Dreams.

An oasis on the big island!

What a lovely experience! Heather and Bud were so friendly and hospitable and really made us feel like family for the duration of our stay. Upon arrival to the lush landscape of Mermaid Dreams, we felt like we were in a tropical paradise. The grounds are filled with palm trees, beautiful flowers, and even fruit producing trees that can get incorporated into breakfast when ripe and ready to be plucked. We snagged a last-minute flight deal and had to book our room only a month out so we split our stay between two rooms - the mermaid room and the moonlight hideaway. For our first two nights, we stayed in the mermaid room that was cozy and felt very private. We left the windows open all night to allow for a refreshing breeze while we fell asleep to the soothing calls of the coqui frogs. For the remaining two nights, we stayed upstairs in the moonlight hideaway which felt so inviting thanks to the warm wood finishes and giant windows. In addition to waking up to the sounds and sights of nature in either room, we looked forward to breakfast every single day. To be honest, it was our always our favorite meal of the day. From homemade waffles and pancakes to fresh eggs and quiche, Bud surprised us with a different delicious feature every day in addition to a wide spread of breads, pastries, honeys, jams, and insta-ready fruit cups. Heather also made sure to add even more nutrition with a smoothie or juice (my favorite was a green smoothie that tasted like ice cream thanks to the smooth consistency and hint of Heather's homemade vanilla). I really can't say enough great things about Mermaid Dreams. It is a tranquil place that gives you a unique experience that is perfect for when you want to steer clear of resorts and find an authentic experience that you share with other guests from all over the globe. If you're looking for a quiet spot tucked away in an oasis of nature, you've found it!

I so anticipated my stay at Mermaid Dreams and was not disappointed. The hosts had thought of everything. The decor was beautiful and fun. The breakfast was a five star dining experience, everything was fresh and well prepared. Being a mermaid at heart I was in my element. We will definitely come back and spend much more time next time. Heather and Bud were wonderful hosts and very helpful.

An unforgettable respite place of beauty!

Bud and heather truly made this a memorable experience for us, by providing the most relaxing, and welcoming atmosphere! Their very presence and genuine care for their guests extends beyond professional duty, and truly exemplifies the "Aloha" and "Ohana" culture of Hawaii! I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast for any future travelers!!!

This B & B is the best. It is a very relaxing atmosphere. Bud and Heather ,the hosts, are warm and fun to spend time with. The food is prepared by Bud with a 5 star presentation each morning. The over all theme of the sea and mermaids is whimsical and fun. We spent our nights in the mermaid room with a private bath and covered porch Beautiful property with a large variety of lush and flowering plants. didn't want to leave

Wonderful Experience!

As soon as you walk in the front door it's clear you've found the perfect home base for a Big Island stay. The open kitchen with adjoining dining and lounging decks were a great place to relax, a private jungle oasis. Heather and Bud were amazing, gracious hosts. Their morning conversation was as welcoming as the delicious breakfast. They also had excellent recommendations for swimming with dolphins, snorkeling, hiking, and Kona dining. We highly recommend a visit to Mermaid Dreams.
