Bee & Thistle Guest House

1842 Parker Street , Vancouver, BC V5L 2K9 Canada (Show map)

The Bee & Thistle is 1908 heritage house located in the vibrant Commercial Drive area of Vancouver, a short 6 minute drive from the heart of the shopping and business district. The balconies on every level of the house provide views of downtown and the North Shore mountains, as well as distant views of the Lions Gate bridge, Canada Place and the harbor. The house is tastefully decorated to blend antique and vintage character with contemporary luxuries such as net book computers, iPod docking stations, fireplaces, flat screen t.v.s, custom showers, and/or soaker tubs.

You will not be disappointed! The location is great; wonderful restaurants within walking distance; the room is very comfortable.

Great B & B

This is wonderful place to stay. Very clean, quiet and comfortable. Very helpful staff. There is no breakfast here but a kettle, coffee maker and mini fridge which they stock with snacks.. A very quick walk to commercial drive and many many choices for meals including vegan. And the food was really good anywhere we went. We were offered transit cards to get around which the staff managed for us and charged us later which saved us trouble and money. We used transit almost exclusively and loved it. We also walked to the Sky Train (local transit as well) in 20 minutes and got to the waterfront, the ferries to Victoria and to North Vancouver. $12 taxi ride to the main waterfront tourist area. One note, if you are not a walker or good with stairs this might not be the place for you. For us it was perfect and will absolutely stay again.

Bee and Thistle ... Not to be missed!

The category of "Onsite Dining" should have an NA rating for non-applicable, since there are no meals served in the guest house. However, there were snacks and drinks available for our use. Our hosts made every effort to make our stay memorable and easy. They had thought out all of the problems for a visitor, e.g. transportation, and made a Skytrain card available for the visitor's use. The decor in our room was carefully chosen and we enjoyed the space.

Lovely guest house, friendly hosts.

Lovely bed and breakfast, without the breakfast. Closest full breakfast before 9-10 am is about 7 km walk. Quiet and well appointed house and rooms with knowledgeable hosts. About a 1.4 km from train to town. Lots of restaurants in the bustling but safe neighborhood.

Wonderful 5-day stay at Bee & Thistle

Beautiful 1908 house with period details and modern comfort. The staff made every effort to make my 5-day stay enjoyable. A short walk from a bus route, and a slightly longer walk to the Sky Train. Hope to return on a future Vancouver visit.

Really enjoyed our stay!

Excellent location for us - quiet neighborhood with privacy, yet just a few (easily walkable) blocks away from restaurants, grocery stores and boutiques. Very pleasant and friendly hosts. We were well aware that breakfast is no longer served here, so it "met our expectations" on that point. Served as a great base camp for our recent visit to Vancouver. We would return here in a heartbeat!

Highly recommended

The hosts were most helpful and charming. The room was comfortable with all the details thought out. It is a great location for restaurants and transportation.

A beautiful house and room at a very convenient location...

with hosts that really care. If you want to stay a beautiful and quiet house ans still be only two blocks away from bustling Commercial Drive - the Bee & Thstle is it. This form requires a score for for Onsite Dining. As none was offered (and this was clear from the get go) I checked "met my expectations"

A Lovely Stay

We recently returned to the Bee & Thistle for a 2 night stay. Ivey's Room feels like our home away from home. The bed is so comfortable and together with the soft, crisp linens we enjoyed an awesome nights sleep both nights. The thoughtful restoration of this century home is apparent at every turn and the careful selection of amenities is so very much appreciated! Fresh home baked cookies were a delightful surprise upon arrival. Thank you for your gracious hospitality Lynn and Michael! We look forward to our next stay!

Great place to stay in a fun neighborhood

The Bee & Thistle Guest House was a wonderful place to call home during our visit to Vancouver. It was comfortable, welcoming, and an enjoyable place to spend quiet time in a busy city. It was a great home base for exploring the interesting and fun neighborhood of East Vancouver. Lots of dining close by and good coffee! I recommend this guest house to anyone.
