We enjoyed a great first visit in the spring, and just this past weekend returned for early fall. We enjoy the privacy of the Loft suite, and it's well appointed and equipped. The view from the upper deck is even better in the fall. Jim and Alex are perfect hosts and prepare a great breakfast. We'll be back again soon. Footnote: Even with the water level of Smith Lake at eleven feet below full, this part of the Lake still looks great, as the rock ledges along the shore simply "grow taller" - you don't get any of the unsightly shallow-sloping exposed dirt flats like you have on other Alabama lakes.

This B&B exceeded our expectations for our 45th anniversary. Although we didn't even get our toes wet, the accommodations were extremely relaxing. Anxious to return for longer stay.

Excellent B&B - It is great for a retreat to get away from the city. They off so much - and even more than a typical B&B. Two resident kitties -Pumpkin and Spooky who greeted us every day! The water is fantastic so jump off from their peer - lounge on their boat dock. They have kayaks, stand up paddle boards and assorted water float toys. Life was wonderful during out stay with my sister and brother-in-law - morning kayak, then afternooon swim then lounge on our deck and drink wine! They have a fridge on the dock with cold drinks and an other fridge in their garage with assorted cold beverages. They offer a 'guest kitchen' in the big house with a single cup coffee machine! The kitchens in the units are much better stocked with supplies then any other we have stayed. They providing assorted seasoning, enough coffee filters for the coffee pots, extra supply of paper towels and trash bags and a special treat - there was a snack basket on our arrival! Alex and Jim are fantastic hosts, they remember special preferences each day and took us for a ride on the lake sharing many interesting tidbits of the lake. And if someone wants to buy a house on Smith Lake, then staying at this B&B is perfect location as Jim and Alex are also realtors If you are thinking there are only 3 rooms so there may only be 6 guests, be aware that each room is capable of holding more than 2 guests each. We were lucky when we arrived that each room was at minimum occupancy. Smith Lake is not a touristy place so there is not much else to do without 45 or so minutes of driving - nor are there restaurants nearby - but you have a fantastic lake with water toys - and a grill - don't leave! Be sure to bring your food and BYOB - it is a dry town and stores are a good distance away

My husband and I booked one night at Smith Lake B&B to celebrate our first anniversary; Not only did we get to enjoy a delicious breakfast on the deck with a beautiful view and relax in our adorable loft suite, we also got to take a boat ride around the lake, paddle board, kayak, and spend time together in such a wonderful setting! By the end of our less-than-24-hour stay, we felt Jim and Alex were already good friends - their hospitality went above and beyond what we expected! Needless to say, we will be back! :)

What a wonderful place to stay. Scenery abounds from the deck of your room while devouring a lovely southern breakfast. As well, enjoying the sunrise and sunset. Jim and Alex Cox are great hosts, to the extent of helping us out with his tractor to get our vehicle back on the road. Our visit included a scenic cruise around the lake, what fun! Can't wait to return to Smith Lake B&B. Orris & Pat Cowgill.

We had a terrific breakfast; other meals are not offered and none were expected. Jim & Alex were terrific hosts and made us feel quite at home. The Loft accommodations were great, and the availability of snacks were nice to have. The stars and the almost full moon were enjoyed from the deck on the boat house. We will plan to go again.

We have stayed at this B&B many times because it is so relaxing and a warm environment. The breakfasts are wonderful. We loved the lake so much that we enlisted Jim and Alex, the innkeepers,to help us find a home of our own at the lake. They are great realtors and very knowledgeable about the lake. They will take you to properties by boat and car which is important when making a decision. We would highly recommend staying at this B&B if you are looking for a great getaway on the water.

What a place! If you are looking to "get away from it all", Smith Lake B&B is the place to go. It is run by some of the nicest folks you could ever hope to meet and the beautifully decorated rooms have everything you could dream of for a weekend (or more) for total rest and relaxation. A fabulous breakfast Is served with love by your gracious host and hostess Jim and Alex. The home is beautifully decorated and the many decks have perfect seating areas (and outdoor firepits) to watch the awe inspiring Smith Lake sunsets. Go, visit, make some new friends and relax. You will love it! Dorothy Chapman Knoxville, Tn

We have stayed at Smith Lake B & B twice now and it's a wonderful place to get away from it all. Very peaceful, private and extremely comfortable. This part of the lake is absolutely beautiful and our innkeepers were the best. Thanks for an awesome stay.

My husband and I stayed here in the Dock Suite for a weekend getaway (2 nights) to unwind and spend time together during a very stressful time for us lately. We had a wonderful time here! It was very comfortable and Jim and Alex have thought of everything! They are very hospitable and Alex cooks an awesome breakfast! We relaxed, swam and floated in the lake (very clean), read, watched movies, and grilled. We definitely plan to come back when we can stay longer and would recommend to anyone.
