What a lovely place!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Northfield Inn. The common rooms were lovely -- we enjoyed sitting in front of the fire and reading our books or chatting. Breakfast was fantastic -- one day we had a beautifully presented and delicious plated breakfast. The next was a lovely buffet with plenty of options. Sharon left yummy baked goods out each evening, willingly packed up some leftover cake from breakfast so we could have treats during the day, and maintained a nice open pantry for coffee, tea and beverages. We were also grateful that she accommodated our daughter (a Carleton student) and another friend at breakfast. She definitely made us feel like welcomed guests in someone's home. We marked the room down a bit because we had a very soft bed in Room #1. And there were also some minor plumbing issues that Sharon addressed as best she could while we were there. If I were to go again, I'd try a different room, as I understand that the others all had more upgraded bathrooms and slightly firmer beds. Overall, though, a great experience.

Wow! Exceeded our expectations!

My husband and I stayed one night and were ready to move in! The property is decorated and renovated so beautifullly - it’s a an interior design nerd’s dream! The bed was comfortable, room was quiet, location wonderful, but the real magic is the innkeeper. She goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect and welcoming. She accommodates weird dietary restrictions with creativity - she’s an excellent cook! I highly recommend staying here.

What a wonderful gem!

Visiting my daughter for a few days in the middle of February..This was everything I wanted and more. Sharon is a perfect hostess. Creative, thoughtful and warm. Shes a wonderful cook as well. She's happy to visit with you if you like or leave you in privacy. I loved the decor - clean and modern but befitting the home. The sitting room was cozy and delightful. I cant wait to get back. Thank you!

Outstanding Northfield Choice

I have been staying in various places in Northfield for the last 4 years to visit my son at Carleton. This is by far the best place I have stayed. I frequently travel and this Inn ranks very highly for all of the places where I stay.

Lovely stay in Northfield

What a wonderful place! I made a last minute reservation to stay at the Northfield Inn when taking my daughters back to school. While my stay was only overnight, I wish I had been there longer to enjoy the lovely accommodations. The Inn is beautifully appointed. The gas fireplace in the sitting room was perfect on a very cold winter night, and everything in my room was perfect and comfortable. Lovely linens, comfortable beds, and sparkling clean. Most importantly, the innkeeper Sharon was gracious and welcoming. She invited my daughters to join me for breakfast before I left and served us a delicious meal. I woke to the smell of breakfast being prepared and came down to find my table set for three. Sharon made us all feel comfortable and welcome - even my daughters who were not guests of the inn. We will definitely be staying at the Inn from now when we visit campus. I couldn't have been happier with my stay.

The Northfield Inn is truly a special place. The Inn is newly renovated and the rooms, bathrooms, beds are lovely. The living room with the fireplace is a delightful place to sit and read or have a drink. Sharon, The Inn Keeper, is wonderful. Breakfast in the morning is a treat.

About the innkeepers

Our lifelong dream has been to own a bed and breakfast in a small, liberal arts college town. For years, we would take annual vacations to Maine, stay at small inns, and dream of buying a B and B in one of the quaint New England towns. As life played out our careers in higher education led us to Minnesota. Over time, we grew to love the people, geography, beauty, and even the weather of Minnesota. We decided, then, to take our best experiences over the years from Maine and create Northfield Inn.
