Great stay!

Enjoyed the unique historic nature of the house and delicious breakfast. The costumers eat with the owner every morning. It was different but nice.

My first time at a B&B

4.4 on October 12, 2016

Everyone was extremely accommodating and helpful. The room was very nice but the decorative items were a bit dusty. I would definitely stay again.

Southern Belle at Hassinger Daniels

5 on October 02, 2016

Stayed in the Hassinger Daniels Mansion B and B, Southern Belle room. The room was well appointed and the wonderful dresses and dolls were like staying in the V&A in London. Owner was very gracious and helped me with some travel directions.

Innkeeper Response
HASSINGER DANIELS MANSION BB. SOUTHERN BELLE SUITE. So glad you liked the suite! It has a queen bed and a double bed in separate sleeping area, sitting area, private balcony overlooking the Gazebo and Garden with table and chairs, its large bath has one of the restored 1898 footed claw tubs with shower and shower ring above. It is often reserved by families, Brides and brides maids for special occasions, Wedding parties, and groups of friends. Special guests enjoy this room. So glad you liked it! Please come again. Sheila

What an upgrade!

5 on October 01, 2016

We originally asked to stay at the Cobb Lane location, but the innkeeper called and asked if she could move us to her other property into a room that was an upgrade from our original. We were pleased with the upgrade and enjoyed the historic property. Inkeeper great hostess!

Innkeeper Response
HASSINGER DANIELS MANSION BB. We're glad you enjoyed our 2nd property, located 2 blocks from Cobb Lane BB. Both are Victorian Mansions on the National Historic Registry, built in 1898. We offer a full hot cooked breakfast in the formal dining room, daily maid service, cookies in the parlor, complimentary beverages, free high speed wireless internet access, and free on-site parking. Within a 3 block walkable area are 41 restaurants and evening entertainment venues. Thank you for coming!

Wonderful Host and Beautiful rooms

5 on September 28, 2016

The rooms were very well furnished, very comfortable, awesome photos, beautiful antiques and quiet for downtown. The antique game is a great way to learn about odd objects from the very knowledgeable host! I would recommend this B&B to any one who wants to stay in downtown Birmingham, Alabama.

Innkeeper Response
HASSINGER DANIELS MANSION BB -- VICTORIAN PARLOR GAME. We're glad you enjoyed playing our voluntary game. A guest can potentially win a 25% discount, 50% discount, or even free return night if they can identify objects from 1898. A Victorian lady or gentleman would know what they are, but we modern folks may or may not know what they are. Please come again when you're in Birmingham again! Best Regards, Sheila Chaffin

Birthday trip of a lifetime with my 80 year old mother.

5 on September 25, 2016

I cannot say enough about how kind and gracious Sheila Chaffin was to accommodate my sweet Southern Belle of a mother! The Hassinger-Daniels mansion is a beautiful work of art in whose rooms I could just spend hours soaking up all of the history and beauty. It is in a place like this that one feels all of the nostalgia of memories made, and makes ones own memories as well. Each room is wonderful; not sure I could pick a favorite! The cool use of space in this jewel of an estate is very creative! I took Mother to the recommended Highland Grill right behind the mansion for the start of our trip. Noted chef Frank Stitts created a wonderful expletive for us from soup to dessert. We were going to Destin, Florida and didn't have reservations for our return trip as i thought would be doing a straight 8 hour drive. But my mother was so enchanted by this place that she asked to leave Florida one day early just to stay here. Luckily Sheila was able to accommodate our last minute decision and we ate at Frank Stitts sister restaurant right next to Highland Grill called Chex Fonfon. More casual, but great servers and best burger I think I've ever had. But I must give kudos to the best breakfast! Sheila and her staff create an ornate and delicious dining table experience that makes one want to stay and converse with the other guests! My mother was in Heaven getting to talk with people from other states and countries. She can hold court with delightful and interesting conversation, and this is the neat kind of entertainment and hospitality you can count on her at Sheila's divine bed and breakfast! Thank you Sheila, for making your home so welcome to my sweet Mother, and God bless you for allowing all of us to experience a place like this!

Innkeeper Response
HASINGER DANIELS MANSION BED AND BREAKFAST. This is the nicest and most comprehensive review we've ever received! It was our pleasure to meet you both and we hope you'll come back each year at your Mother's Birthday time or some other special occasion. We're glad you found Chef Frank Stitt's special restaurants, our next door neighbors. THANK YOU. Sheila

Very nice BnB. Great value, Sheila and her assistant were great. Food was even better. Only complaint was a shelf in the shower was cracked and had sharp edges and should be repaired. Very close to downtown area.

Innkeeper Response
COBB LANE BED AND BREAKFAST. Thank you for compliments about your stay. Regarding the shower soap dish, we discovered this and it is being taken care of. Please come again! Sheila

impressive antiques!!

5 on September 21, 2016

We ended up being upgraded to Hassinger Daniels Mansion! We arrived after dark -- the house was all lit up and looked like an enchanted castle from the outside. It is beautifully restored and filled with antiques, fresh flowers, and various mementos of old times. It exudes a blend of opulence and cuteness -- true to the Victorian spirit. My son especially loved the antique toys -- a collection of carousels, rocking horse, dollhouse. We stayed in "Enchanted Turret" -- two comfortable beds, satin sheets, lovely leather furniture, amazing crystal chandelier, stucco decorations on the ceiling, a meticulously clean bathroom. Windows did not have curtains though and the door to the hallway had a window pane at the very top letting light in -- so this room might not be for you if you like sleeping in a dark room.

Innkeeper Response
HASSINGER DANIELS MANSION BB. ENCHANTING TURRET "Honeymoon Suite". This was a professional woman guest with her young son. We loved the descriptive comments and that the Mansion looked "like an enchanted castle from the outside". All praise is appreciated, we'll tell our housekeeping staff. One note--there are pull down shades on the window, perhaps we didn't explain that to the guests. There are clerestory windows at top of hall doors but we turn off the crystal chandelier near this door each night and keep our lights on the stairwells up for safety reasons. We hope they'll come again. THANK YOU for taking the time to write a review! Sheila

Girls' Weekend

5 on September 21, 2016

Great get-away with friends. We stayed at Hassinger-Daniels Mansion and really enjoyed it. Convenient to many restaurants, great front porch for just 'sitting and visiting", exceptionally clean and Shelia was a great hostess.

Innkeeper Response
HASSINGER DANIELS MANSION BB. This group of traveling friends for a Reunion were a delight. They went on outtings and explored the region, sampled the many tastes and beverages in our surrounding historic district's 41 restaurants, and sat out on the wrap-around Victorian porch catching the evening breeze. We're so glad we met you. Please come again! Sheila

Nice b & b

I was given an upgrade to the H-D mansion so this review is about that property. The service was great. Breakfast was just okay, and some of the angels-and-unicorns decor was a little creepy. Don't stay here unless you really like pink.

Innkeeper Response
HASSINGER DANIELS MANSION BB. Probably SERAFIM ROOM. We don't have unicorns but there are some carved Serafims (angels in literature) in the Serafim Room and it has a pink décor. There are other rooms with differing colors, decors and features. All rooms sleep 2 guests, some sleep 3 guests (Vulcan Vista, Blue Serenity) and some sleep 4 guests (Southern Belle and Enchanting Turret. Breakfast is hot full breakfast served in the beautiful dining room under a crystal chandelier on fine china with crystal goblets. Guests often comment this is their favorite part of the stay compared to other hotels. Thank you for being our guest.
