As we drove up to the house, we were greeted by a variety of beautiful summer flowers. Our upstairs room overlooking Katchemak Bay and the Spit was clean, nicely appointed and comfortable. The living and dining areas were inviting and comfortable and there was so much tourist information available that it seemed like a "mini Visitors Bureau". The view of the mountains across the bay as the sun was setting and the light changed was spectacular and watching the tide come in and go out was fascinating. Both hot and cold breakfasts were available and there were options to meet most dietary needs. One morning Lori cooked sourdough pancakes with wild blueberries they had picked earlier in the summer. YUMMY! We enjoyed our stay in Homer and Bay Avenue and would recommend it without hesitation.

We had a delightful, refreshing stay at Bay Avenue B&B. This was our second visit and we will be going back. Lori and her family were gracious hosts. Lori even went out of her way to help return a lost item to us. The house has great views, comfortable beds and easy access to everything in Home.

Our stay at the Bay Avenue Bed and Breakfast was wonderful. The location was perfect (definitely ask for a room with a view!). The rates were reasonable. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The only small thing I would mention is that the heated breakfast items were sometimes cold when we came down for breakfast and it might help to keep them on warmers.
4.4 on September 08, 2014
The B&B had a really nice layout with a great view of the bay. The additional entrance and small kitchenette for the upstairs rooms was convenient. The rooms had handy storage space, were a good size and clean. Breakfast was the best of our trip. The owner is a ball of energy and a wealth of information yet personable. We would definitely go back.

Our time at Bay Avenue B&B was wonderful. The hospitality couldn't have been better. Lori gave advice about kayaking, hiking, places to eat, etc. I like to run and it's an easy few blocks to get onto the spit and the biking/running trail. Glorious!

I didn't expect too much since it's just B&B, not luxury hotel. But this stay brought me very pleasant feeling. Everything are just perfect, far beyond my expectation.

We were a little concerned about staying in a bed and breakfast but our stay with Bay Avenue B&B was so good we will try B&B's again. We met some very nice and interesting people. The property was so clean and well kept and the hostess, Lori, made you feel right at home. Both mornings we were there, the food was delicious! I cannot say enough good things about our stay.

The place is wonderful, with a gorgeous view on the bay. The landlady is nice, friendly and helpful, the breakfast is plentiful, rooms are clean and comfortable. What could you ask more than this to a B&B? Haven't you reserved yet? What are you waiting for?

This is our second stay at Bay Avenue. We were not disappointed. It is a gem, and we hope the owners and hosts, never decide to retire! They are the warmest people, Lori is a wonderful cook who serves great breakfasts, and makes you feel very comfortable.

The property is located on a bluff overlooking the bay and tidal flats, just by the turnoff to the Spit. It is not on the main road so is very quiet. The house is comfortable and nicely decorated. Breakfasts feature local and organic food and are outstanding. The staff is able to arrange activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding.

Lovely house with very comfortable rooms. Lori was very friendly & welcoming & gave us great suggestions of places to eat & things to do. A good location at the top of the Spit - which we walked down in the evenings- takes around an hour & 15 mins, and central for the rest of Homer - though we drove everywhere else. Loved Homer!

Went to Homer to fish. The location was close to everything. Safeway, the charter boats not to mention the great view from the back porch. If your going to Homer it is well worth your money to stay at this B&B. You will thoroughly enjoy it, the hospitality was wonderful. We stayed in the family suite which has its own kitchen.

Lori, the owner, was incredibly helpful and friendly. She even drove me to my float plane when it was time to leave. The common area is beautiful and overlooks Kachemak Bay. There is coffee, hot chocolate, and tea out at all times for guests, a rocking chair, and a really neat telescope to watch for ocean critters. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I will certainly stay here again on my next trip to Homer!

We stay at a lot of B an B's in the US and Europe. Bay Avenue is one of the nicer experiences we've had. The family is friendly and charming. Our fellow guests were interesting and provided good conversations. The breakfast was very good. A nice selection of dishes. something for any diet. The location was excellent. It's at the entrance to The Spit and very convenient to town center. Common areas are spacious and comfortable. The coffee pot is always on. I would definitely stay again if I am in Homer again.

What a pleasant surprise to arrive in Homer and be welcomed to a beautiful and comfortable room with a view of the Homer Spit. Our gracious host Lori made us feel right at home and cooked the most delightful breakfast. Accommodations included artistic effects from local Alaskan artists that made for a true Alaskan stay. We even got a great view of a mother moose and her 2 calves right in the backyard. You will enjoy this fine hospitality from a woman who commercial fished the area for many years. Accommodations and hospitality made for a gem in our Alaskan road trip. We will never forget our time spent here! Hope to return again!

Bay Avenue B&B was wonderful! The bedroom was immaculate, comfortable and private, just like home. The kitchen and common area were large and open, with a fully stocked gourmet kitchen available for our use. We cooked ourselves up an amazing seafood dinner. Laurie is a gracious host who prepares a beautiful hot breakfast in the morning! It was so great!

Bay Avenue Bed and Breakfast is amazing!! Our room was clean, neatly organized, and well decorated -- great TV and wifi, but of course the VIEW was the best part. Lori made sure we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay including an upstairs fridge where we could store our extra food from being on the road. Breakfast each morning was to die for and the conversation at her big table in the mornings was something to look forward to each am. Best of all, Lori actually performed our WEDDING ceremony in her backyard!! My husband and I were married there last weekend and with less than a week's notice, Lori became a marriage commissioner! She did an incredible job with the actual conducting of the ceremony and she and her two daughters even provided an intimate, little celebration afterward for us. She really made the evening so special for my husband and we can't thank her enough. If you're coming to Homer, this is the place to stay!

We recently spent two nights at the Bay Avenue Bed and Breakfast. We were slightly apprehensive not knowing what it would be like. It was fantastic. The convenient location is between the Spit and downtown and the views from the back yard were incredible. Lori is a gracious host and a wonderful cook. I would highly recommend staying here during your visit to Homer. K&M - Loveland, CO

You how it is with B&Bs: you never really know what you are getting until you stay there... Bay Ave did not disappoint. Not only is the price more than fair for the level of comfort and cleanliness, but the amenities were much more than we anticipated. Not only did Lori let us use her kitchen to cook a home-made dinner which we had not had in a while being on the road, but she also hung out and shared a tone of info on the area's culture and history, and helped us plan activities for the rest of our trip. The rooms are modern, clean and the entire place is super cute and super comfortable. We originally planned to stay one night but are now going to extend our stay. Loving it!

We enjoyed two nights at Bay Avenue Bed and Breakfast, in our room overlooking the Homer Spit and Kachemak Bay. The purpose-built B&B is in a quiet spot convenient to various points of interest, it has a great view and well-appointed common areas, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Lori and her breakfast "helpers" gave us good advice about Homer restaurants, things to do in Homer, and where to park on our visits to the spit.

We stayed at Bay Ave B&B in July 11'. We called the night before arriving. This B&B has every moder commodity you can ask for, flat screen Tv's, comfortable beds, spectacular kitchen, beautiful views, a lovely staff and the food was absolutely delicious. My only regret is not having booked this B&B for a few extra nights. I've already recommended this place to a lot of our friends and plan to go back. Our best to Lori and her family!

We enjoyed our recent stay at this remodeled B&B. They recently had a devastating fire, and the rebuilt property is new and fresh. They allow use of the kitchen and barbecue grill for preparing your own meals (or freshly caught halibut). We didn't use this option, but some other guests were doing this, and it looked like great fun. Lori was also flexible with breakfast. We had to leave really early one morning for a deep-sea fishing trip, so she left out things for us to prepare our own breakfast before we left. Overall, we'd definitely stay there again, but this would be a particularly good property for several couples traveling together, a large family, or a family reunion.

We made last minute plans to come to Homer and needed a reasonably-priced place to stay with friends from the Lower 48. We were delighted to discover Lori and Mark Mikols' Bay Avenue Bed and Breakfast. It had just been remodeled and was clean, charming and very comfortable. Lori made a great breakfast the next day and we met lots of nice people from all over the world who were staying there. If you are going to Homer and looking for a B&B, reserve early for the Bay Avenue B&B. We will be staying there every time we come to Homer, but we will have to plan ahead because it is sure to be in great demand.
