About

Our goal is to provide you the VERY BEST B&B experience you will ever have!! Check TripAdvisor for detailed reviews from guests who say we meet that goal. One guest wrote that the Alaska Heritage House "must be the most beautiful home in Alaska." No B&B in Alaska has a more interesting history. We are conveniently located downtown near a bus stop. Built in 1916, we are on the National Historic Registry and the house was fully restored to museum quality with period antiques in 2008. We are a living museum with all the modern conveniences, including new plumbing, DirecTV, free laundry and WiFi. We serve a full two-course delicious breakfast each day.

My second stay here was a good as the first: clean rooms, historic eye for detail and decor, easy walking to downtown shop and restaurants. The perfect Fairbanks lodging.

Best B&B I have ever stayed in

4.6 on March 23, 2018

I stayed in two different rooms since my trip was broken by a 2 night stay in Chena Hot Springs. My personal favorite was the The Blanche Cascaden Room. I loved the tub and would take two soaking/reading baths a day. I am also a bit of the princess and the pea gal and loved the sleep number type air mattress. The floor was always warm. I am not sure if it has radiant heating or some other type of system that kept the floor warm. The rooms come with all the amenities you expect from a hotel: refrigerator, coffee maker, TV, etc. I also stayed in the The Georgia Lee Boudoir. The room was lovely but I thought I would love this tub more. I did not. It is really a two small people or tall person bath. If i relaxed too much, I would slide to the middle of the tub and drown. The breakfasts were all fresh and filling. I could usually not able to finish all my food. You meet Telsie at breakfast and she is a good resource for advice about the goings on. The only reason I gave service a 3 is that, and you would expect this at a B&B, you manage your own luggage. For me, as a 64 year old woman with 3 pieces of luggage, it meant 3 trips up and down the stairs with 3 corresponding trips to the car. I am not sure how this would be fixed so just be aware that 3 rooms are on the second floor.

The Northern Lights, Five Feet of Snow, and Thirty Below

I spent a wonderful week in the middle of winter inside this warm, welcoming turn of the century Fairbanks landmark. I was surprised how many other Borealis enthusiasts had found their way here from all over the world, including a lovely French couple and a group of ladies from California. Hobnobbing in the morning around the beautifully laid antique dining table was a rare experience. Breakfast was always deliciously prepared by the professionally attired staff and always included a colorful melange of fruit somehow worked into the meal, either atop the french toast or pancakes, or on the side in a goblet. And because the house is so carefully preserved and appointed, it truly felt like I was living in another time - Fairbanks a century or more ago. I loved everything about staying at the Heritage House, and even extended my stay twice, though for personal reasons, but at the same time liking the idea of being there a little bit longer.

Best B&B in Fairbanks

The Heritage House is awesome. This 1916 home has so much character. The owner was a gracious host. Nikki cooked breakfast every morning and it was wonderful. I want to pick up the house and Nikki and move them to Wasilla. I can not wait to go back.

Fantastic & Charming place to stay

4.4 on February 10, 2018

We spent 4 nights here in December and loved it. Our room had a small kitchen area, dining nook, bathroom with a claw-foot tub and many charming antiques. Breakfast was made fresh each morning we arrived in the main dining room. No room service while we were there and we did need to request fresh towels but I'm sure they are happy to assist with any of your needs if you ask. Very cozy and charming.

Could have been the best experience.

My mom and I were super excited to go to Alaska for the first time. I had made several calls and emails before we got there to ensure that there was a washer or dryer. Finally a day before we were to arrive, the host called apologizing and explaining that she had been ill. Totally understand. We arrived and BEAUTIFUL place. The next morning we had an amazing breakfast. The next day, our cable when out and our room started to get chilly. We called the number left for the host and no answer. The next two days, the fire alarm went off twice and I was greeting guests and showing them to their rooms because the host was MIA. Our rooms were never cleaned. It's a shame. It could have been amazing.

Royal thematic rooms with fresh healthy breakfast everyday

I wish i could give all stars to the chef Niki who makes breakfast in Alaska Heritage House. I was bored, frustrated with boring continental breakfasts in hotels. I chose this place because of the reviews it had for awesome breakfast and i wasn't disappointed. We stayed for 3 nights and had a comfortable stay. The rooms are very nice and i loved the decor of the whole house. It was very antique and ethnic. I felt i'm in some palace. Chef Niki is very sweet and cooks so silently that you will not notice what miracles she's creating in her kitchen. This place is highly recommended to anyone traveling to Fairbanks.

Could not have asked for a better stay

We loved our stay, and the breakfast was wonderful. The house is much larger than it looks on the outside and very charming!!

A Walk Back in Time

If you are interested in enjoying the beauty of a well preserved building from Fairbanks' early days, then stay here! The historical record of the early 20th century is everywhere. If you're interested in helping your children see what it was like to live a hundred years ago in Fairbanks, stay here. The food is great. The service is exceptional. The location, perfect. Easy walking distance to the Chena River and to downtown.

Absolutely Wonderful!!!

The house was beautiful, clean and very "old time". What a great stay. Will definitely stay again!
