Individual Baked French Toast

  • 1 lb French Bread-cut into 1"cubes
  • 8 Eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups Whole Milk
  • 3/4 cups Heavy Cream
  • 1 tablespoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup Butter
  • 1 1/2 cups Light Brown Sugar
  • 3 tablespoons Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 cup Pecans, chopped (Optional)
  • Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (Optional), Recipe follows


  1. Spray each of 10 6 oz.round or oval ramekins with non-stick vegetable spray. Arrange the cubes of bread in each dish, dividing evenly.
  2. Beat together eggs, milk, cream, vanilla and cinnamon in a large bowl. Pour over the bread in each dish, being sure to moisten all the cubes with the liquid. Cover with plastic film wrap & refrigerate overnight.
  3. The next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup in a small saucepan. Heat until bubbly.
  4. Pour bubbly sugar mixture over bread cubes, distributing evenly. Optional- Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Bake in oven, uncovered for 30-40 minutes. Watch that the edges do not get too browned.If so, loosely place a sheet of aluminum foil on top until fully baked.
  5. Remove from oven & top with fresh berries,or sprinkle with powdered sugar & Serve warm. Optional- top with good quality purchased vanilla ice cream or house-made (recipe follows).
