Relaxing time with friends and family

5 on September 02, 2014

Lost Forest Bed and Breakfast was the perfect getaway location for our labor day weekend. It was clean, peaceful, and comfortable. The place was better than I expected from the pictures. I went with two of my friends and their baby. The innkeeper was an excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed. West Virginia is beautiful. Tips: - The innkeeper will offer internet service but try to go "unplugged" for a vacation from your devices. - Paying extra for dinner is well worth it. The innkeeper is a great cook and the home-cooked meals were tasty. - Don't plan to do a lot of activities. The location is great for relaxing and enjoying nature. There are fun board games and a variety of movies if you get bored. There is a state park close by if you want to do horseback riding, swimming, or other activities. - If you are coming from Washington, D.C., make a stop at Woodbine Farm Market.

Clean, modern, AMAZING

5 on September 02, 2014

My family and I stayed here for labor day weekend. I picked this place because I wanted to relax and get away from Northern Virginia. When I drove up to this place I thought it looked like a cute rustic cabin. However, when I went in, this place was all modern with an open floor plan. The upstairs hall acted as a loft to the dining room. The dining room, kitchen and living room were all opened up. There was recessed lighting everywhere, and the place was very clean. The living room was beautiful: large floor space, high ceilings, lots of windows, comfy couches, bar area with mini fridge, flat screen tv w/ surround sound, board games, and a telescope for night time star gazing. We stayed in the master bedroom. The bathroom had a large soaking tub, a separate shower, a his and hers sink, and all the amenities we needed. The bedroom and bathroom were decorated very well. There was a nice walk-in closet and everything was VERY clean. We paid for two dinners. Both dinners were good. The first night we had bbq chicken from the grill, fresh tomatoes from the garden with mozerella and balsamic, mashed potatoes, and cooked squash. The second night we had ground beef wrapped in cabbage covered in Marinara sauce with the same side dishes as the previous day. For breakfast we had bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, fruit, French toast, with coffee and orange juice. The Inn Keeper also baked complimentary cookies during the day for the guests, which were amazing. I recommend the food here. Activities: We did exactly what we came to do, and that is relax. We went on a short hike on the property, hungout on the porch with drinks, read, and played some of their board games. We played Risk for the first time: fun game, but very long. All-in-all, great vacation. I highly recommend this place.

A great place to go and relax

4.2 on August 10, 2014

Found this place to be a great place to get away and relax. Was hoping for some much needed R&R, but found so much more. The new innkeeper was a warm and friendly guy who catered to our needs. The meals were appealing and very filling. We loved the rural setting and the time to just enjoy nature. A quick ride to the Lost River State Park. BUT don't expect to use your cell phone. And your GPS may take you on some strange roads. Come prepared with a good old fashioned map & this will be a delightful getaway!!!

a great forest and great place to stay

5 on October 13, 2013

Signed up to stay here because lowest price, and will come back because it really is in a remote (but easy to get to) beautiful spot. It's actually inside the George Washington National forest. Step outside the B&B and in less than a block, you're in the forest. And its a remote part of it; hundreds of acres of land you can walk and not see any one else--just lots of wildlife. Good food and hospitality. A great B&B, but the forest, trails, mountains are the big plus.

wonderful mountain/forest retreat not too far from DC

5 on October 03, 2013

As promised, a great place to stay to enjoy nature, but a short drive to Washington DC. Easy to find, but once there, only thing you see is forests and mountains and wildlife; very remote. Quiet, good nights sleep, great breakfast. Less expensive than a motel for a much better experience. Try to arrive in afternoon so time to go hiking in George Washington National Forest which is a block from the house.
