Stayed at the Westby House while in the area visiting family. I had a very pleasant and relaxing stay. It's a beautiful old house. Very clean and the owner could not have been nicer. Delicious breakfast too. I will definitely stay there again while in the area.

I had to attend a conference in Lacrosse and every room in the area was taken; just before I reserved a room on Kayak for a terrible looking hotel in Onalaska, my colleague suggested that I look at Bed and Breakfasts. The Westby Inn is just a 30 min drive to Lacrosse and thankfully they had rooms available. The owner of the house was extremely accomondating and a fantastic cook!! The rooms were very comfortable, each with it's own bathroom, fireplace and wifi! I am so happy my colleague suggested B&Bs, I really enjoyed my stay! Great Supper Club down the road!!! Thank you!

We are a good location for an alternative to La Crosse. The short drive is very well worth just for the scenery. Folks on business can have all the amenities and needs that you will find at hotels. To our guest,we appreciate the wonderful comments and hope your work brings you back to the area.

If you are in need of relaxation, then the Victorianne or Atrium Rooms in the Guest House are perfect! I'd say these guests chose the right room for there getaway. Thank you for the "Elegant" comments.

We stayed in the Tower room, which was a two room suite. Because this was a winter get away we spent a considerable amount of time in the rooms reading etc. The rooms were very sunny and conducive to lingering. They were nicely decorated and spacious. Breakfast was excellent both mornings we ate there. We enjoyed driving through the countryside observing the Amish countryside. Westby is close to Lacross (26 miles) which provided another city to explore. All in all we had a wonderful three day stay and would recommend the Westby House to anyone.

We have stayed at the Westby House numerous times - initially while visiting our son at UWL, then while "just passing through", and in the future just because. Marie and Mike have always made us feel like we are home-away-from-home and always welcome. Marie is a genius in the kitchen with a constant variety of delicious breakfasts featuring fruits, pastries, and a hearty main dish - almost always including cheese or whipped cream from the local dairy. Mike and Marie have recommendations for things to do or see in the area, and they haven't failed us yet. This was a first time visit for my husband and I, and we were VERY impressed. We stayed in the Rose Room, and it was perfect for us. (Always love to see real glass wine glasses!!) The breakfast was gourmet and delectable! :-) We liked the choice of time to eat and what to eat, besides the possibility of coffee BEFORE breakfast. Nice to see lovely white table cloths and sparkling glasses/dinnerware on each table. My husband, who is more quiet and reserved than I, also appreciated the opportunity to eat more privately than at a long table with many strangers. Mike and Marie were excellent hosts, very personable, welcoming, and accommodating. :-) I also enjoyed the gift shop, with several quality items, some locally made. We will definitely be back and will tell our friends of this great value and location! Thanks, Mike and Marie, for all you've done to make this a special bed and breakfast! Attention to room detail seems to be on many guests lists of why they enjoyed there time at the inn. The Viroqua restaurant mentioned is the Driftless Cafe and has been enjoyed by many guests. We dined there just this past Tuesday and we had a great culinary experience. We can make a reservation for you if you like. It is a one of few that concentrate on local foods. Westby is a small quaint town of just over 2000. Several local dinner venues will have local entertainment periodically. Appreciate the kind review.

Weekends in the Driftless Area of Southwest Wisconsin have plenty of things to do which make it a nice getaway. If you stay in either Guest House room you have the option of continental breakfast delivered to the room or join us in the Main Historic House for the full breakfast.

The Westby House is everything that we had hoped it would be. Walk through the doors and you step back 100 years in time to an elegant Victorian residence that has every modern convenience incorporated into it. New tile bathrooms, wi-fi and flat screen TVs are surrounded by Victorian lace curtains, wood fireplaces and grandmas wallpaper to create a sense of slipping back to the future. We happened to stay in the Tower Room and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and elegant getaway. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Westby House Inn - in The Atrium in the Guest House, for 9 nights. We had a family reunion to attend during the week of July 4th and early in April decided we'd like to try the Westby House because we had heard great things about it. So we made reservations. The experience went far beyond our best expectations. Mike & Marie are the perfect host & hostess and made us feel welcome and "at home" every single day. We didn't want to leave! The Atrium has 3 rooms: the comfortable bedroom, cozy sitting room, and lovely bathroom. All rooms were spotlessly clean. Of course we arrived during one of the hottest heatwaves in Wisconsin( with temps during the day in the 3 digits!), but the air conditioner worked fantastic and we were also given a tower fan to help push the cool air around. We also had use of the fully equipped kitchen (also a part of The Atrium), for those days we just wanted to stay inside where it was cool, to have lunch. The breakfasts Marie prepared each morning in the main house, were top notch and delicious. We plan on staying at this fantastic B&B for our future trips to Westby!

I was returning to my hometown of Westby, Wisconsin for a family reunion in early July. The Pinewood Room is located in the Guest Lodge on the property. It is a great spot with lots of great features. It does book up in advance so plan ahead!

A wonderful charming establishment in a beautiful part of the country. If you are in the area I highly recommend staying at the Westby House. The staff was nice and helpful with all aspects of my stay.

Westby House Inn is gorgeous. with antique furniture throughout that reflects the Victorian era of the Inn. We were very comfortable in our room and enjoyed the breakfasts and common areas as well. Before the birth of our fourth son, we had the opportunity to get away for a night and enjoy some quiet time. The Westby House was the perfect place for us. It was our first experience of a B & B, and we happened to be surprised by a generous upgrade when we arrived. We had a beautiful weekend stay at the Westby House complete with a.maz.ing gormet breakfasts, thoughtful room details, warm hospitality and even a picnic lunch that we ate while out on a lovely canoe trip on the Kickapoo River. We stayed in the Library Room but had the opportunity to peer into the open doors of the unoccupied rooms so we could really get a feel for the Inn in totality and not just our tiny corner of paradise. With comfortable drives to Amish country, the Vernon Hills Winery, and the canoe launches of Ontario, WI, the Westby House Inn is a fantastic getaway in any season. Fully recommended.

For our wedding anniversary my husband and I had a weekend getaway planned and at the last minute we had to cancel our trip due to storm damage and power outage where we were to go. Th inn does serve well for groups of 3-5 couples. All the rooms in the Main House are on the second floor for ease of visiting. which makes visiting an ease. Our well lit on-property parking lot does give the security guests look for. Vintage cars are always a treat at the inn since Mike is the car-nut of the house! The amenties include things no hotel would give you, or would charge you for dearly, including a full size coffee maker with REAL coffee, complimentary soda and water, and an in-room refrigerator and microwave. Although there are no upscale restaurants within walking distance, there's a lovely coffee house right next door, and the bar across the street serves excellent food (try the Rueben Pizza!) and drinks. The Westby Inn breakfast was delicious and just right. We definitely plan to return!

We stayed in the Pinewood Loft...it was much bigger than the pictures make it out to be. The welcome when we first pulled in was so comforting after a 8 hour journey. Mike was all smiles and Marie went out of her way to give us a tour of the house as well as telling us where to go and where not to go. We have stayed in numerous hotels, motels, resorts and in many different countries...but we can honestly say that the service and the time spent at the Westby house far surpassed anything we have experienced. Plans for a return are already in the works! The bedding arrangement is very comforting. The pillows, sheets, mattress are all reminiscent of "home." The downstairs living area is spacious enough to lay out maps, clothes, bags, junk etc without seeming crowded. The kitchen area has everything a couple on the go can possibly use. The bathroom is perfect, clean and not intimidating like many hotel bathrooms. All in all, a trip to the Westby House is a trip to an ideal home, with two loving caring 'parents', clean rooms, ample space, wonderful food and an experience that makes you feel 'homesick' when you leave!

As described on our web site, the breakfasts for the Pinewood Room and Scandia Room of the Guest Lodge are continental style, which results in the lower-end room rates. Though the rooms have mini-kitchenettes, they do not have stoves to prepare hot foods in them. By offering the continental for the Guest Lodge rooms and a traditional B&B type breakfast for Main House rooms, this allows you, the guest, to choose your breakfast preference. If you prefer a hot breakfast, be Sure to book a room in the Main House or Guest House. Our breakfast room is licensed for these accommodations only. We just stayed with Mike and Marie at the Westby House Inn in Westby, WI, and found it warm, welcoming, and an excellent value. The hosts provide lots of thoughtful touches and think of all the details to make your stay pleasurable. The food at breakfast was really great, too. If you are looking for a place within striking distance of Prairie du Chien, this B&B is definitely worth the short and scenic drive to Westby, and beats Prairie du Chien B&B rates by a long shot. This was the first time my husband and I have stayed at the Westby House Inn. We were very happy with our stay. We enjoyed the remote location and quietness of the house and town. We spent much time visiting the Westby House website prior to making our reservation and found it (the website) very accurate, informative and current! The rooms were just as we expected them. Marie was most helpful. Upon our arrival, we inquired about dining out for dinner and she not only gave us suggestions but offered to call and make reservations for us. The house was impecably clean and the food MOST delicious! I would highly recommend this B&B! We enjoyed being able to sit at our own private table for breakfast as in the past when visiting a couple of other B&Bs, the dining area had 1 large table for all to sit at and we felt that it wasn't a very comfortable situation.

I treated my companion to weekend at The Westby House. It was part of her birthday celebration. As others have noted, Mike and Marie could not have been more welcoming and codial. We stayed in the Tower Suite, a spacious, sunny, and absolutely spotless room. Of all the rooms we viewed, the was our favorite. Our breakfast the first morning was fantastic. My significant other is a wonderful cook and she raved about our tasty breakfast. Breakfast the morning of our second day was even better. Marie is truly a wonderful cook and hostess. The Westby House is a great base to use when one wishes to explore both the Mississippi and Kickapoo Valleys, some of the finest scenery in Wisconsin. My husband and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at The Westby House. We stayed in the Victorianne Suite, which was perfect for a romantic getaway. We love the Westby House and have turned it into an annual get-away weekend! Mike and Marie have thought of every detail for the rooms. Nothing that you may need will be overlooked. They are also familiar with local activities and dining and always have great suggestions for day trips or dinners out. My husband and I had such a wonderful experience. The Inkeepers Maria and Mike made you feel like one of the family right from the start and I know we will always be friends across the miles. Our friends gave us a 40th Anniversary gift getaway to the Westby House. It was outstanding! We loved the Victorian home, with it's beautiful antiques & very comfortable 4 poster bed. The area is very scenic, and rich in Norwegian history. The breakfasts were truly remarkable, and fresh baked cookies were always available. When I arrived, it was a Friday evening and just before 6:00 PM. My daughter would be joining me, but was running late and would not arrive until around 8:00 PM. I was greeted, made comfortable and enjoyed a wonderful chat while we waited for my daughter. Because there was construction on the road, my daughter was taking longer than she had anticipated, so they made up a cheese and fruit tray for when she arrived. I was also given directions and the name of a restaurant that would be open and still serving dinner. The weather was lovey for October and I went outside to sit on the veranda. How wonderful it was to hear the music and cheers from the high school game just a block away. This was my second experience with the Westby House and I can't thank them enough for their hospitality. If you are in the area, you must give them a visit, they even serve lunch during the week.

October is one of the best times to come to the Driftless Area of Southwest Wisconsin. Colorful hillsides and inviting fall nights on the wrap-around porch. Providing our level of hospitality is always a top goal of ours.

My best friend and I decided to do an overnight road trip, so we stayed at the Westby House Inn. It's nestled in a quaint American Norwegian village with lots of unique shops and restaraunts. We stayed in the "Victorian" suite, which was beautifully decorated, and had a gas fireplace and two person jacuzzi. Our hostess had our room warm and inviting for us with the fireplace lit and a few lights on when we came in. We had a nice tv with cable channels and video's to use, and Magazines to read. The bed was very comfy, and when we turned off the lights, the stars came out on the ceiling which was fun to look at. Our breakfast was very good, and Marie and Mike were very accomodating. My coffee cup was always full. They were friendly and welcoming. I would definitely go there again.

We stayed for one night in October on a weekend. We liked the service and found it to be cozy in the Scandiva Room. It had a rustic feel to it. The continental breakfast was good. The room was clean and was fair. We would definatley book a stay there again.

The Scandia Room is just that, Cozy! Happy you enjoyed your stay. The Guest Lodge rooms (Pinewood and Scandia) are available April through October and do offer a feel of rustic. The in-room continental breakfast gives you a great chance to sleep-in and enjoy when you want!

My husband surprised me with a 2-night stay at the Westby House for our 5 year wedding anniversary. This was the PERFECT destination. Not only is the house impeccable, but the rooms were large, clean, and VERY comfortable. So many little details! Marie and Mike are amazing hosts... so accommodating and helpful. And the breakfasts! We stayed in a different room from the ones we've stayed in so far. We've probably stayed at Westby House around seven times. The room this time was accommodating and beautiful as have been all of the others. Breakfast is always elegant and delicious. Usually there's a new interesting taste included, so Marie is always developing the menu. Another thing that people don't always think about is the extent of the interaction between owners and patrons (we've stayed in many different B&B's). At Westby House, this exchange is always just right, helpful and friendly.

The separate entrance of the Guest Lodge rooms is just another level of an amenity we offer, which some folks like! Looking for privacy, then the Pinewood or Scandia Rooms will meet that desire. Thank you for sharing your "Own little private cottage" experience.

Every year my family picks a Wisconsin based Bed & Breakfast for a little retreat. Unfortunately, we were all very disappointed in our two night experience at the Westby. The beds were very uncomfortable, but far worse were the flat 3” pillows. We did ask for fluffy pillows the next day as we had a terrible time sleeping and we were directed to the extra pillows in our dresser. Well, the extra pillows were exactly the same! My parents had the same flat pillows in there room and no extras to be found. Small details like no tissues in the tissue box and no robes in the room the first night added to the disappointment. Breakfast the first morning was ok. It was a cornflake French toast with sausage. The coffee was hot the first cut but on cup two it was luke warm each morning. We requested to have a full breakfast again on day two but asked if we could have some scrambled eggs on the side. Well, we ended up getting scrambled eggs, two orders brown and rubbery, with toast that was overdone and a small piece of thin ham that was also over cooked and dry. As far as the house goes, it was a very pretty Victorian and everything seemed clean and organized. One thing that was missing was a common area inside the home to visit or sit besides your room. They used all the space on the main level for their restaurant. As far as our hosts were concerned they were rarely around and the only time we saw Marie was when she made breakfast. Mike seemed friendly but we only saw him once upon check in. Marie was not very friendly and when we left and gave her a check for payment she didn’t even say thank you or hope you enjoyed your stay or anything. The reason we enjoy staying at Bed & Breakfasts is to visit with the owners and hear about the fun and interesting things in their town and maybe visit with other guests. We can’t understand the good reviews on Trip Advisor. Perhaps these people have not stayed in B&B’s previously or they want a more hotel feel.
