Great River Bed & Breakfast

The editors of Midwest Living magazine (June 1998 issue) selected us as one of their personal favorite "special places" in the Upper Midwest.Property is a pioneer Swedish stone cottage built in 1869 by the co-founder of the Village of Stockholm, WI (pop. 89) looking over Lake Pepin (Mississippi River) 60 miles south of Minneapolis/St. Paul. From our large screen porch we offer peace and solitude on 45 acres of lawn, woods and fields. All rooms are beautifully but simply furnished with antiques, period pieces and artwork. The emphasis here is in on low-key relaxation: walking, biking, reading and bird watching (including one of the country's largest eagle populations). One party (1 or 2 persons) has exclusive use of the cottage ensuring absolute privacy. Use of the kitchen is not included. Outstanding cafes for the evening meal are in the immediate area. We return in the morning to prepare and serve breakfast. The pricing below in room rates does not include taxes.
