Silver Star B&B Country Inn

The Silver Star B&B Inn can be described as elegant but casual and is without a doubt interesting and out of the ordinary. Located on a bucolic 340 acre estate, it is perfect for a quiet getaway, intimate wedding, reunions, retreats, or to simply connect with nature.

The "silver" in the name Silver Star represents silver halide - the chemical compound of silver with a halogen (for example, silver iodide, silver bromide or silver chloride). These compounds are responsible for recording a visual image on a photographic emulsion as a result of exposure to light. Each guestroom is named after an individual or organization that influenced the history of photography.

Other than ten very special guest rooms with private baths the inn offers pleasantries such as original high quality fine art, massive fieldstone fireplace, wraparound porch, entertaining hummingbirds, lovingly prepared breakfast and dinner specials, perfect star gazing, hiking trails and bluff views.

The inn is located only a few minutes from major area attractions such as Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin, American Players Theatre, House on the Rock, river canoeing, fine art galleries.

Our side porch is where you may enjoy a sunny morning breakfast, the picnic you brought, the dinner we prepared or be mezmorized by the multitude of hummingbirds we feed. One year we counted 37 hummingbirds!
The deck is a place to rest, relax, read or gather with friends. A popular spot for wedding ceremonies, wedding dances, and outdoor buffet receptions. Room #1, The Stieglits/Steichen, is our largest room with foyer entrance, sitting area, antique writing desk, and whirlpool tub. It may accomodate four with the comfortable pull out sleeper sofa.
Room #5,The Brady, with twin beds is perfect for those more comfortable with having their own private bed. It was named in honor of Mathew B. Brady and all other Civil War Photographers.
Our special pastry and cakes make every occasion uniquly memorable. Our chocolate fudge cake, pictured here, is as as good as it gets.
Our side porch breakfast is the perfect start of any day. After 13 years the inn has naturally darkened to a rich patina. Located in an isolated country setting, guests may hike and explore the properties bucolic surroundings.
Room #6, The FSA, is named in honor of Roy Stryker and the Farm Security Administration
photographers and is a bright and sunny room facing the front gardens.
