We recently spent two nights in the Master Bedroom Suite of this inn. I enjoyed the spaciousness of the room, having a table and chairs to play games at, and COMFORTABLE easy chairs (not always the case at historic inns!) The bed was comfortable; sheets were fantastic! Early morning coffee was available in hallway, or we could make it in our room. Bathroom contained a toiletry basket in case anything was left behind- always a good idea so one doesn't need to bother the innkeeper for little things. Bath towels and robes were sooo soft!!! Breakfasts were very good, and served in a pleasant setting with relaxing music playing in the background. Though we didn't take advantage of it, we could have had our breakfast delivered to our room, which was a nice option. Extras such as romantic CD's in the room, battery-operated candles, chocolates, and cookies all added to a wonderful experience. The home is meticulously maintained, and a good value for such a nice place.

Jennifer & Steve thought of everything in making you feel welcome. My wife & I spent our Anniversary there and we were so happy we did. There was a small bottle of wine and two wine glasses in our room along with a small jar of chocolate mints. And freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in a cookie jar at a desk in the hallway with hot coffee or tea for all guests to enjoy.Next to our beautiful new 2 person hot tub we had slippers and bath robes to use after enjoying the hot tub.

This is a beautiful he on Sparta, Wisconsin. There is easy access to the surrounding towns including bike trails and cranberry bogs and wildlife refuges. Jennifer gave a nice history of the home, has decorated the home beautifully and prepares a delicious breakfast. We would definitely stay here again if we are on the area.

Breakfast was fabulous! Out of 3 nights in B&Bs this weekend, my morning at the Franklin is still my favorite. Jennifer was a kind and accommodating host. The house's main floor is very beautiful. I'd absolutely return!

My wife and I stayed at the Franklin Victorian B&B for one night and was very pleased. The property is amazing and meticulously well taken care of. The house is over 100 years old and is a great example of keeping our past alive and well for many generations to come. If you are looking for a great place to relax we highly recommend the Franklin Victorian Andrea and Dan

Excellent accomodation for B&B. Wonderful host and hostess, excellent breakfasts and friendly atmosphere. Recommend to anyone in the midwest portion of the state of Wisconsin. Great Cranberry festival and enjoyed the local bike paths also.

As always we had a lovely stay at the Franklin Victorian Bed & Breakfast. Jennifer does a fantastic job from the time you arrive until the time you leave, we always feel very welcomed. She is also a wonderful cook who makes the best breakfast!

I had an event close by the night before so when making travel plans decided to swing over for a day of biking. This isn't my first stay and I love the house so much - very peaceful. The fireplace and shower jets in the master suite are awesome. Jennifer is an amazing cook as well. I felt bad I just wasn't very hungry and actually next time I will make a note for a small portion - hate that the food was wasted and if I had had some tupperware wiith me would have brought it home.

We stayed in the Franklin Suite. We have been visiting Sparta regularly since 2004 and have stayed at the FVBB many times. All the extra touches are there. The breakfasts are always wonderful. Jennifer is very welcoming and attentive to the needs of her guests. We look forward to our next visit.

We stayed three nights; everything about our stay was perfect.

Everything about the B&B was outstanding from the time you open the door every detail made you feel at home. The home is beautiful, the owner was very helpful and the breakfast was delicious.

Very professionally run B&B in a beautiful home. We stayed in the Master Bedroom Suite. The room was very clean and the hosts have thought of everything. The Franklin offered in-room breakfast in our room, but we chose to eat breakfast in the dining room with the other guests. The breakfast was fantastic, as was the company. Note to motorcycle travelers: We greatly appreciated the use of the shed to store the bike overnight, especially as it rained during our stay. They also offer this space for bicycles for those in town to ride the nearby trails. There were only two very minor issues with our stay: The bed was a bit soft for our tastes (and backs), and there are very few places to dine in Sparta on a Sunday evening. That said, we ended up at a very unique pizza place called 'Slice of Chicago' and were happy with the fare. If we're ever in the area, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Thank you for your review and we are so glad you had an enjoyable stay. We loved having you stay with us over the Labor Day holiday. With many small town restaurants over the holidays or Sundays can be sometimes a challenge, but some will be sure to be open. But eating at the “Slice of Chicago” is one of our highly recommended restaurants all the time and we were glad they were open to serve you. We wish for everyone our mattresses would be the best fit, sometimes that is hard to do, but they are first class and new. When you hop back on your motorcycle, please come back into the Drift less region of Wisconsin, we hope to see you again soon!

We came here for a 3 day bike trip and had a great time. This B&B is delightful. The owners are friendly. The home is immaculate with spacious rooms of authentic period furnishings. Jennifer has done an amazing job of restoring and furnishing this beautiful old home. The Breakfasts are gourmet with beautiful table settings of china, crystal and linens. Beds and bedding are super comfortable and luxurious. We loved the area and will come here again if we get up this way. We have already recommended it to several friends.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice 5-star review of your stay with us. We are glad you got your bike trip in and we are glad the Elroy-Sparta bike trail was a great trail for you. We hope for you to come back soon and we thank you for the referrals.

This B&B was wonderful! It is beautifully restored and is immaculate! The bed was super comfy with the best sheets ever. Every little detail was thought of...cookies and snacks in the afternoon, a fridge stocked with beverages, and early morning coffee. The front porch allowed a great way to enjoy the weather. And the breakfast was divine. Jennifer is a perfect hostess...friendly and welcoming, but not obtrusive. The location is perfect. I highly recommend this to anyone, especially if you're planning on biking.
Thank you for the 5-star review and we are so happy you enjoyed staying with us! We know our guests are on vacation when they stay with us and we want to make sure we are available to you if needed, but you also have your privacy. Our little details are you’re to enjoy and to make your stay with us rememberable. Remember the sheets when you want some of your own to just give us a call and we can help. Thank you so much for the referrals and we look forward to you staying with us again soon!

This was an Oasis for us from driving across country to the west from the east. Wisconsin is beautiful and we wanted to ride the Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail. It is worth every mile we drove to ride the trail and to stay at this B & B. We'd do it again if we go that direction. The food was outstanding, bed very comfy and the time there very relaxing. Great experience.

This is a gorgeous home. The room was very pretty-the bathroom is a bit small but not too small. There was a formal dining table set for breakfast which was generous and delicious. We would love to return.

Our first visit in a B & B and it was absolutely wonderful! Traveled in town for a bike ride on the famous Sparta trail. Jennifer and Steve dropped us off and our bikes down the trail, so we just rode back to the inn. Breakfast was delicious, we couldn't have had a better experience. Before leaving we booked our next years trip!

It was a pleasant surprise to find this place while traveling through Wisconsin. It was close to the interstate in a quiet and very pretty residential neighborhood where you could enjoy an evening walk.My room was nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed and special linens. There were numerous ammenities that made you feel pampered..The breakfast was abundant and delicious.Jennifer made you feel very welcomed and did much to make sure you enjoyed your stay.My only regret was I did not have time to take advantage of everything you could do( like biking) in the area. I hope to return here again someday..
We love when our guests are happy with their stay at our B&B. We want to make all guests feel welcome and have comfort during their stay. We look forward to your return.

We decided to take a last minute trip to Sparta the end of July and were excited to be able to find a bed and breakfast for one of the nights. What a wonderful place. It was beautiful, quiet, clean, and Jennifer was a wonderful hostess. Breakfast was also delicious and we had some wonderful conversation with other guests that had been biking the date before too. We can't wait to go back.
WOW-We are glad you took the time to give us a 5 star review. Thank You so very much!

This was our first time in a bed and breakfast and it was an awesome experience. Steve and Jennifer are wonderful host and they run a very clean business. We will definitely be visiting them again. I would recommend this to anyone.
To the many young guests we host, we love to have newbies! Because we want all our guests to be comfortable from the time they ring our door bell to the time they leave. We want to make sure they think of a B&B for their next stay as they travel and vacation. THANK YOU!

My wife and I stayed at the Inn on our honeymoon. It is an exceptionally well-cared for residence that deserves the awards and high ratings it received. They did everything they could to make sure we did not want for anything. Jennifer was very pleasant and shared the interesting history of the Inn and the fact that it is now a Historic Building. However, I thought it a little pricey compared to other places that we stayed.
We are glad you had a nice stay and enjoyed our B&B during your honeymoon across Wisconsin. Please guests and future guests keep in mind that different areas have different taxes in their cites and counties which can reflex the total cost. Some are less and some are more when you compare.

We spent one night in Sparta on our way further north, and made reservations at the Franklin Victorian B&B......a VERY nice start to our vacation. A beautifully maintained home and our room was excellent! Jennifer's breakfast the following morning was wonderful too. Again a good way to get us going on our way north. I would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for an outstanding B&B experience. MB

This was my first experience at a bed and breakfast. This restored Victorian home was impeccably decorated! Great attention to details! Enjoyed a good breakfast with 3 other couples who also biked the Elroy-Sparta trail. My boyfriend and I especially appreciated the whirlpool tub in our suite after the ride. Our B&B host had an assortment of sundries, reading materials, music, treats, and games for us. It was a wonderful place to stay and I recommend it highly:)
5 on July 16, 2014
This was our first stay in a bed and breakfast and I can't imagine a better place! The house and yard are beautiful and immaculate, the innkeepers friendly and gracious, and our room was cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and our vegetarian needs were expertly met! Everywhere you turn there is something to nibble on, read, or comfortably sit in. We were planning our next stay there on our drive home. The Franklin may have spoiled us for future stays at other bed and breakfasts.

I've visited quite a few B&Bs and this is the best one I've stayed in yet. This beautiful, historical property is immaculate and full of beautiful antiques. The hosts are helpful and professional. I like that they are adept at taking cues from guests as to how much chit chat guests would like. And the breakfast was like a 5 star restaurant. We booked the last available room and it was the smallest. My husband is a tall guy so we'd choose a bigger room next time. That is not to say that the room wasn't great - it was. Again, very clean and comfortable. There's a fridge, cookies, tea, etc. available for guests to help themselves, and early morning coffee as well. Oh, and the bedding was so luxurious that I ordered all new bedding for our home! I highly recommend Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast! We are already planning our next trip to this Inn.

I spent the weekend at Franklin B&B after researching places to stay closest to Neilsville, WI (about ~50min drive north) to visit Levis-Trow Mound mountain biking trail system. I'm very pleased with my decision to stay here despite the drive. Very bicycle friendly due to proximity to the Sparta-Elroy trail, clean/quiet/comfortable rooms and common spaces, breakfast is fantastic and health-conscious. The beds/bedding are extremely comfortable- be prepared to purchase a set of the sheets for home from the innkeeper. Definitely will be back and would absolutely recommend to family and friends.

Nice informational desk in foyer with activities in area, places to eat etc. Had a nice storage garage for bikes with a pump for tires. All in all, we would definitely stay here again.
5 on July 02, 2014
We stayed here for a night after a long day of biking. We had the Franklin Suite which included a luxurious queen size bed and an adjoining e suite bathroom with sitting area. We relaxed in the jetted tub and enjoyed the complimentary wine, cookies and sodas from the refrigerator in the hallway. We had the option of using cotton robes afterwards and were greeted with comfortable bedding. The house itself was gorgeous and we loved hearing about the history. The breakfast the following morning was very elegant and delicious. We had strawberry soup, egg bake, fresh fruit, bacon and mini blueberry muffin loaves. Overall the innkeepers did a great job.

We will certainly be back to this beautiful historic B&B! The house itself is absolutely amazing and our room was beautifully adorned. We stayed at this lovely inn for the second time and were not disappointed. We were remembered by the hostess from when we stayed there last year. Our room was comfortable, clean and inviting. We used the sound machine to go to sleep. The breakfasts each day were delicious and filling. My husband even tried some things out of his normal comfort zone! The other guests were friendly and we had nice conversations. I gave the hostess a couple handmade dishcloths that I made and she was very appreciative. When we left she told us they'd love to have us back again... I think we'd love that!
Hello- Thank you so much for taking time when you are busy to write a nice review. We always love seeing you guys during the Tomah Tractor Pull. We welcome you anytime for an event or just a get-a-way! Love the gifts and we appreciate your kindness! Till we see you again at the Inn, Take Care!

My husband and I wanted a long weekend to get some biking in and to relax. We couldn't have picked a better place! The rooms are very comfortable and stocked with anything and everything you may need. The breakfast was amazing. Jennifer thinks of everything, including the option to be shuttled to the far end of the elroy/sparta trail so you can bike the entire trail. We will be back in the future!
Thank you so much for the kind thoughts and kind review. We look forward again to hosting you when in the area.

We could not have enjoyed our stay in Sparta more. The Franklin Victorian Inn was both beautiful and comfortable. Its location, close to the Elroy-Sparta bike trail was definitely a plus. The shuttle service the innkeepers provide is wonderful. We highly recommend staying here if you are in Sparta.

The purpose of our trip was to take a vacation from stressful jobs and ride the bike trails near Sparta. We stayed four nights at the Franklin B & B and will enthusiastically recommend it to friends and family. Being able to keep our bikes locked up each night in the Franklin's "Bike Barn" was huge; having the innkeeper load our bikes and shuttle us 32 miles to the next trail-head was above & beyond! The breakfasts tasted as delectable as they look in the photos and the room was pristine-clean, cozy, and oh, so comfortable. It was a treat to be within walking distance of several delightful restaurants, and we ended each day reading and relaxing on the front porch. We are glad we still have one section of the trail to ride, because now we have to go back! (Dean & Ann)
Bed...Bike..& Beyond! We are so happy when the guests who are biking write kind reviews and take the time to let others know how wonderful their trip was! We enjoy our guests and we are happy they relax and bike when in this beautiful area of Wisconsin!

Lucky for us, LaCrosse was packed when we tried to plan our February family weekend. That's how we ended up with the last 2 rooms at the wonderful B & B! I was a little hesitant, being a newbie to this type of lodging, but we were all pleasantly surprised! Let me hit on the negatives; none. Not one. Positives - too many to mention, but I'll list the best of the best. The beds were amazing - so comfortable. My sister said it was like sleeping in a cloud. The breakfast experience was above and beyond - ate like royalty, and definitely felt pampered. The house is beautiful, unique, historic. The extras took us all by surprise - from the morning coffee served right outside our door to the fresh cookies and chocolates made available 24/7. We WILL return!

6 of us drive in from Minneapolis and Chicago and meet halfway for a Thursday to Sunday weaving and crafting weekend. The past 2 years have been at the Franklin Victorian B&B in Sparta. We rent the whole house so that we can set up looms and other crafting gear. (We have a lot!) Jennifer made plenty of space available: This year, she placed her furnishings in the back room against the wall, remembering that we did so last year. She handled every request we made - from iron and ironing board to dietary considerations, recommendations, information, and directions. We love walking to downtown Sparta - one cafe after another, a yarn shop, and a quilt shop. We include an afternoon at the nearby Cura Spa, and new this year: a trip down to Avalanche to visit Avalanche Weavers. How did we find out about them? Jennifer wrote us an Email a few weeks prior to our visit. Loved this scenic side trip. As others have called out, Jennifer and Steve are wonderful hosts. Thoughtful amenities, lovely, comfortable bedding. A variety of bath configurations from a claw foot tub to showers with full body sprays to a whirlpool. Jennifer makes lovely breakfasts with beautiful presentations. She creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere, making us feel at home. How did my sister summarize it? "This place has it all."
To my Weaving ladies- THANK YOU!

The home was beautiful, the history provided was great, but my husband felt as if we weren't really welcome. There seemed to be something strained with the innkeeper, and he said he didn't feel as if we should have been there.
We wish you would have talked with us personally than noting in a review. We take our guests care and our business very seriously and we are sorry you had felt this way. We have never had this and I would hope others will always feel welcome to talk with us in person to make sure we get the issue or concerns corrected. Thank you for taking the time to write and we wish we would have known while you were here to correct with you.

Love getting away for a day or two and coming to Jennifer & Steve's to be pampered after a great time on the bike trails. Met some great folks from three states as well and had a good time getting to know them and the experiences they've had. Looking forward to our next visit

We can't imagine a more lovely and lovingly cared for place to stay than the Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast Inn in Sparta. It was an opportunity to step back in time one hundred years and enjoy a type of gracious living long forgotten in today's hectic world. The Inn is a treasure we shall remember as a place to which we will return again.

We spent 2 nights at the FV B&B with our son and his wife. We drove up from Chicago with little preplanning. Jennifer provided us with a warm welcome and helpful information about the trails, local restaurants & the house itself but left us alone to enjoy the amenities. Coffee was available before breakfast was served & cold drinks were available 24/7. Both breakfasts were beautifully presented & delicious. The house itself is a gem & the location allowed us to ride a different trail each day. Jennifer & Steve presented the right balance of hospitality and professionalism, very respectful of our privacy yet friendly.
Sometimes the short planned and out of the blue get a ways are the best and we are happy to help you plan and make your trip and stay with us the best it can be!

Lodging: 113 year old pristine Victorian with good times to be had on the front porch. Food: Amazing breakfasts in Victorian dining room; makes you feel like royalty! Fun: Bike trails galore. Extra Mile: After returning home we received a call from the owner saying that a sun hat had been left behind and would be mailed to us the following day! That's definitely going the extra mile!
Our extra mile is your extra mile and we are happy to do whatever it maybe for you during and after your stay.

My husband and I did a five day bike tour staying at various B & B's along the way, with the Franklin Victorian being one of them. Jennifer made us feel very welcomed and Jennifer and Steve have obviously put a lot of effort into doing everything they can to provide guests with all of the comforts of home and making them feel pampered. We truly enjoyed our stay and have already started talking to our adult kids about going here together some weekend and making a biking and B&B family weekend of it!
Our home is your home and we want everyone who comes and visit us and stay with us to feel comfortable and have a wonderful time! We pride our B&B and want you to feel pampered when you stay.

Check out the Franklin Victorian Bed & Breakfast. This is an elegant, cozy and beautiful Queen Ann right in the heart of Sparta Wisconsin. It is gorgeous inside and out. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. And wait until you see the rooms- spacious, extremely comfortable, lovely experience top to bottom. We can't wait to stay there again.
Best Kept and thank you for taking the time to write and we are so happy you had a wonderful time and a great experience.

This beautiful Victorian house has amazing woodwork detail. The breakfast was above our expectations. We appreciated the car shuttle service to allow a one-way bike trip on the Sparta-Elroy trail. Less indoor deodorizing would be appreciated.

What stands out about the Franklin Victorian Bed & Breakfast is their attention to detail. Jennifer understands that the most important detail to providing a great stay for her guests is warm hospitality. Everything she does shows her anticipation of her guests' needs and her desire for them to feel at home while staying there. The Inn is immaculate and has an interesting history. It is beautifully decorated. The rooms are spacious and have everything a guest needs. Yet, there is so much more that makes this B & B so special - outstanding breakfasts, early morning coffee available on second floor, a refrigerator for guests to use, snacks and beverages readily accessible for guests, great advice on the Elroy-Sparta Bike Trails, good recommendations for local restaurants, locked bike storage and Jennifer's genuine interest in her guests. We have stayed at a variety of Bed & Breakfast Inns - but never have we felt so at home as at the Franklin Victorian Bed & Breakfast. We will go back again. Jerry and Barb
Jerry and Barb, Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day and to write a very nice review that we so much appreciate. We enjoy what we do and we enjoy all our guests. It makes me love what I do daily, because our guest are the most important part of my job! We want to make you feel special and we want you to have the best customer service during your stay. We look forward to your return stay and seeing and talking with you again! Till the next time we fluff your pillows... :)

What a fantastic B&B. Jennifer was warm and welcomed us with a tour and history of the Franklin House. Our room was beautiful, with so many comforting "extra touches". My husband enjoyed the cookies and candy left for guests. I appreciated the coffee brought up at 7:30 before breakfast. Jennifer even gave us the weather reports for the day. The strawberry soup and blueberry French toast was so yummy. Jennifer helped us with recommendations for dining out and was just so nice to visit with. I will be recommending the Franklin House to my friends.
There is nothing else better to wake up to and get a great cup of coffee and relax and enjoy your morning here at the B&B. Thank you for your kind remarks and we are so glad you had a wonderful stay and we will see you again. Thank you

The home is beautiful with carved oak and stained glass. The room (The Master Suite) was gorgeous with the most comfortable king bed and wonderful linen. The room was so quiet, no creaks or hot water pipes banging as sometimes with a older home. A small refrigerator is available just outside your door and early morning coffee set out with a gourmet breakfast soon to follow. Home made cookies in the jar for whenever. We both slept so well there. We brought our bikes up to take advantage of the world class bike trails and stored them safely in their garage. Steve shuttled us 18 miles out so our ride was one way and slightly downhill. That was great! Steve and Jennifer are both very gracious and are doing what they were born to do. When you add this to the beauty of the driftless area, the hiking, biking, verdent farms, friendly people-well, you know we're going back. Book it!
Thank you so much for all the wonderful and kind words in your review. It was wonderful to be your hostess.

This was our third trip to Sparta and our third stay at the Franklin Victorian~we brought some friends who loved it and met some other guests that quickly became new friends as well! We enjoyed lounging on the beautiful front porch relaxing and spending time with friends. Jennifer & Steve do an outstanding job at hosting you in a truly beautiful gem of a home. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and every consideration has been made to make your stay comfortable. The home is gorgous with all original woodwork, charm and beautiful craftmanship. That is why we will go back again and again! The breakfast was amazing as usual and Jennifer really knows how to fill you up for your day of biking! The shuttle service is a great perk so you can enjoy the entire trail. This is truly a wonderful place to stay and we look forward to going back again! My husband and I celebrated our 28th anniversary here and had a wonderful time. From the moment we stepped onto the front porch and were greeted by the other guests it felt very welcoming! Jennifer came out to meet us and took us in and gave us a history tour of the house. The original woodwork is in perfect shape, simply beautiful. We stayed in the Frankilin room and loved it, every thing was imaculate and comfy, especially those bed sheets...felt like silk! The breakfasts were phenomenal! The attention and service given to us by Jennifer and Steve was perfect, they were available when needed yet you didn't feel like you were in someone else's house. We will definitely stay again! The friends we met made our anniversary unforgettable! Thanks for the memories!
First time at a B&B can be a unique experience and we are so happy you had a wonderful time. It is the only way to travel and I am sure you are hooked on B&B's forever. We look forward to seeing you again soon in Sparta, WI.

My husband & I have stayed at many B&B's in the US. The Franklin St. Inn was comfortable, was a good location, and Jennifer was a perfect hostess giving us a tour, and answering our questions, but not being around too much. Our room was spacious and had a wonderful couch for sitting and reading on. The bed linens are awesome and the bed was soooo comfortable. We'll definitely stay here again!
We are do happy we are one of the top B&B's you have stay at. We are thankful for you staying with us, and we are so happy to meet you and look forward to you coming back. It was great to be your hostess!

This inn is undoubtedly one of the nicest original Victorian homes we have encountered. We especially appreciated Jennifer's attention to our comfort. She also encouraged us to enjoy the main floor rooms in the house (-the cosy fireplace welcomed us as we recovered from a snowy drive). Breakfast was fabulous. Loved the baked grapefruit and cranberry muffin. The Franklin Victorian Is certainly recommended for B&B lovers!

We have never been to a B&B so this was our first experience. We were pretty impressed and will return. The only drawback was not knowing what was on the breakfast menu the next day. They do give you a card and ask if there are any dietary restrictions. We misunderstood what they were asking exactly if it was either allergies or stuff we just did not like. My hubby is a meat and potatoes kind of guy. There was yogurt and cream cheese filling on one of the pastries to which he is unable to eat any of it. However we will remember for next time to put that down. The tour and history of the B&B was amazing! just great history and the inn keeper was wonderful and very respectful of privacy. We really enjoyed ourselves!

My husband and I decided we wanted to do something fun with our siblings and we found out that the Franklin Victorian B&B offered a Murder Mystery night. Jennifer made the experience fun and the dinner she cooked for us was excellent. The beds were wonderful, food was great and a good time was had by all. We look forward to coming back again. If you want a fun evening with family or friends I would suggest the Murder Mystery night.

We are long-time fans of the Wisconsin Bed and Breakfast system, and we almost always head for a Wisconsin B & B for our short get-aways. We chose the Franklin Victorian in Sparta this time because of the bike trails and bike rentals--which worked for us even though we were off-season. We knew the B&B would be good, but we didn't expect it to be so perfect. Our hostess, Jennifer, is a pro. Everything from the luxurious sheets, to the supply of games, to early coffee outside the room, to suggestions about activities and places to go, to snuggly robes--it was just so welcoming and comfortable that we were sorry, after three nights, when we had to leave. I'm pretty sure we'll return, probably with relatives in tow. This is a terrific get-away spot--great value, attractive surroundings, friendly town. I miss it now as I'm writing about it!

Very warm, relaxing, and inviting atmosphere! Amenities aplenty and so greatly appreciated the hospitality of the hosts in answering questions & guiding us to recommended places in the area! Love the close-ness to the downtown Sparta, as well! A definite return to in the future, I hope!

My husband and I have been to a lot of bed and breakfasts over the years. This is one of my favorites. It's a beautiful home with lots of wonderful woodwork, very well kept up and beautifully decorated. Very homey and comfy. And there were so many extra touches - robes and slippers provided, candles (flameless) , some snacks left in the room for us as well as a snack/drink area for the guests with drinks, coffee and all the fixings, wine glasses and other glasses we could use, even some essentials in the bathroom in case you forget your own. Just a lot of little details that we appreciated. We stayed in the Master Bedroom because we wanted a fireplace. Our room was very nice with a comfortable king size bed. We took a peak at the other rooms also and they all were very nice. Breakfasts were great too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway.

We visit the Franklin Victorian B & B often and always experience the same great service and friendly welcome. We recommend it to all who come to Sparta to enjoy biking, the quaint downtown, dining and many other features. Carol and George
5 on October 16, 2012
This B&B has so many extras for the reasonable price you pay. Available 24 hours are tea, candy, cookies, coffee, hot chocolate, hot and cold water, soda and juice and much more. The breakfast was awesome and we deeded a container to go because of the amount of food served. WE WILL BE BACK.
5 on October 14, 2012
Three brothers and their wives have been exploring B&B's once a year for 20 years. We have many experiences to compare. Jennifer's welcome was warm and genuine. She gave us a tour through the entire house, explaining some of it's history. The rooms were nicely decorated (not overcrowded with knick knacks). The sheets and coverings were quite wonderful. She gave us a good recommendation for dinner, which we thouroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately, it was raining the whole time we were there, but we still were able to go for a short walk. The breakfast was delicious and beautiful...fresh fruit w/hot almond flavored cereal, wild rice quiche, sausage, and banana muffins w/ sliced bananas and caramel sauce, juice, and coffee/tea. Her husband, Steve, was an efficient and friendly server. I would recommend the Franklin Victorian Bed & Breakfast for a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

My wife and I stayed three nights at the Franklin Victorian in Sparta on our grand daughter's recommendation. It is less than a block from her home, so location was very important to us. The house is a gorgeous Victorian and the rooms are very comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing, and we enjoyed meeting and visiting with the bicyclists. We will definitely stay again when in Sparta.

This historic home has all of the qualities of a great b&b. Our stay in the Master Suite was only one night but we wished we could've stayed longer. All the touches of home were there--lotions & bath amenities, two soft chairs, table & chairs for eating in-room, wine accessories, coffee & tea accessories, chocolates, games, reading material & the best bed & sheets ever. Jennifer is an excellent cook & hostess and gave us much helpful & informative information about the region. We stay in many b&b's and this is one of our new favorites. Bill & Molly Alward

We so enjoyed our stay at the Franklin B and B last weekend. The home is beautifuly restored, with original woodwork and stained glass windows. The owners pay close attention to every detail to make you feel welcome from extra ammentities to games to candy dishes, to providing assistance with finding local bicycle trails. The breakfasts were so artfully displayed and delicious. I would highly recommend this B and B to anyone!

An all-around wonderful inn! Beautiful home, very clean, close to downtown, fantastic breakfast, and beds with wonderful sheets. We especially enjoyed sitting on the large front porch in the wicker rocking chairs, sipping our morning coffee and tea. The innkeepers invited us to put our motorcycles in the garage, out of the overnight rain. And if you are a chocolate lover, this place is for you...little bowls of it sprinkled around the entire home. :)

A beautiful , historic home in the established center of the city only a few blocks from downtown shopping and very good restaurants. A peaceful place and easy to find, they cater to bikers with storage and shuttle rides but the best part is the amazing breakfasts customized to your desires. Highly recommentded.

The woodwork and general interior of the Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast are the most beautiful of any inn where we have stayed. The food and all amenities are exquisite. We highly recommend the Franklin Victorian.

Our stay at the Franklin Victorian B&B was on the last night of our 2-week vacation. During these 2 weeks, we had stayed at 2 other B&Bs and 8 different hotels. My husband surprised me with roses and strawberries waiting for our arrival! Jennifer was great with sharing details of the house and history of various pieces of furniture. Breakfast was filling and very yummy! They also host Murder Mysteries of which we hope to experience. I especially liked the accessibility and privacy as we had a key to our room and also the entrance to come and go as needed.
5 on July 15, 2012
Everything about the Franklin Victorian Bed & Breakfast is top notch. The house has been wonderfully maintained and is impeccably clean. The woodwork is beautiful. Jennifer has obviously spent some time with the intricate details of the decorations in the house as well as in the landscaping surrounding the property. The breakfasts were wonderful, especially liked the wild rice quiche. Yum! The love of her home and her business is apparent. Jennifer is a great hostess. The B&B is located less than one mile from the bike trail. Jennifer also has a huge library of other entertainment options as well as restaurant menus to satisfy every taste or whim. You won't be disappointed with your stay at this B&B.

A perfectly maintained historical home, inviting, relaxing, convenient location, amiable hosts. Charming historical town set in lovely countryside. Great coffee shop nearby, stroll through tree-lined neighborhood, inspect varied architecture of the town. Makes an extremely pleasant get-away with tons of local activities and sights, and the best option for lodging if you're visiting relatives in the area like we were!!
We are always happy when families can share time together. We all need to slow down and take time for family and other who are special in our lives. Glad you had a nice time and we look forward to see you again.

We loved our stay at the Franklin Victorian B&B. Our room had a whirlpool bathtub and we certainly used it! Only draw back was the full bed - a queen would have been nicer since we're used to sleeping on a king and we're not tiny people. Our hostess answered our e-mails promptly, drove us to Kendall for our 32 mile bike ride, answered all questions! We'd stay there again.

Need a couple days of R&R (riding the rail trail) or just regular rest & relaxing ? Look no further than here. A pure delight to stay, every comfort Jennifer has thought of so you feel pampered and well cared for. Our first B&B stay ever and so happy to have done it.

We came to the Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast for a mini vacation after the end of tax season for my husband and to try biking on the Elroy Sparta Trail. We were a little too early for the trail, but the experience at the Franklin made up for it. We cannot say enough about this Bed and Breakfast. Jennifer is an awesome host, the room was so very nice and the breakfasts were amazing. A little piece of heaven on this earth!! We definitely will be back and whether we can bike or not it does not matter, we will come just to stay here again. Keep up the great work Jennifer, although it seems for you this isn't "work", you enjoy what you do and it shows in every little detail...

My husband and I were looking for a quick, overnight date-- just looking for some quiet alone-together time away from the kids and hustle and bustle of daily life. Franklin Victorian B&B was a perfect choice! It started as soon as we walked into the house, met by Jennifer, ready for a quick (interesting) tour of this beautiful home. She was also ready with several ideas for restaurant choices and things to do. If you're going out for dinner, Angelini's IS the place to go! A nice, quiet town--the perfect place to relax and refuel! Jennifer & Steve were wonderful hosts!

I can't say enough about the wonderful experience we had at Franklin Inn. We spent two very relaxing and nostalgic days at this inn. The food was delicious, the coffee wonderful and the hostess and host were present but definitely not imposing. We sat on the front porch and visited with friends each morning and evening and filled the remainder of the day with bike riding in the immediate area. It was a relaxing weekend for two very busy people. Thank you for making it so pleasant!
Relaxing in History is a wonderful thing to do. It takes you back to a simple time when life was not so rushed. We want all out guests to relax and have a wonderful stay. We are so happy we completed that for you and we look forward to your return stay.

This B & B is wonderful. It is within walking distance to the local restaraunts. The Inn is beautiful and a lot of thought and effort has gone into making sure the little things are there to add warmth and a homey feeling to your stay. She has warm homemade cookies, dishes of chocolates scattered about, and drinks both hot and cold available for your needs. The breakfast is our favorite. The food is homemade and absolutely delicious. We feel like royalty when we stay at the Franklin Victorian. And the hostess is social when you want her to be, and informative of her communities happenings. We absolutely love staying here, and am sure we will be back again and again.
I am so happy you had a nice time and a perfect getaway. Thank you for taking the time to complete the reveiw and we would forward to see you again soon.

We were celebrating our 35th Anniversary and we were not disappointed. The Franklin Victorian B&B is a very romantic place to stay. The little things mean alot...robes and slippers, chocolates, fireplace, games, table for two in the room, luxurious linens and an MP3 player. We had a wonderful stay, but much too short...we were whisked away....we will be returning next year! The breakfast....picture perfect and wonderfully delicious. Thank you Jennifer and Steve!!!
Happy Anniversary again and we are so happy it was a memorable one, while staying here with us at our B&B. We are happy you had a nice time in Sparta and will be returning next year. We look forward to seeing you again.

We arrived too early and made ourselves at home on the porch. While eating our lunch, the innkeeper returned home but did not greet us. We thought she could have greeted us, even if she did not think her dress was appropriate. Her references for dinner were great and her breakfasts were superb, everything about the inn was very nice.
Thank you for taking the time and I am sorry you did not hear me say Hello. It was Noon and I had returned from shopping to find people eating on our porch was quite a surprise but was just fine. I want to prepare all things for our guests so when they arrive at check in time we are completly ready for their arrival and ready to serve and help your guests. We are very happy you had a nice time biking, staying with us and our area. We look forward to your return to the area.

We had a wonderful stay at the Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast. It was beautifully decorated and had a warm feel after a long day of biking. The innkeeper was welcoming and helpful with our questions. One of the highlights was the bedding. Those sheets are awesome and as previously described very "creamy". I couldn't resist getting a set for myself. We will definitely return for another stay.
Everyone needs Summer Get A Ways and we are happy you had a nice time while here in Sparta at our B&B. We get many descriptions of creamy, buttery, super soft of our wonderful sheets. We are happy to make sure our guests can take a little memory home with them. We look forward to your return and we hope you are enjoying your sheets! Let us know when you need more.

We wanted to do something extra special to celebrate our 10th anniversary, and choosing the Franklin Victorian B&B as well as the Sparta area really met our expectations. The home is beyond beautiful…all of the special touches throughout are just intriguing (the details are spectacular). I could easily run out of positive adjectives to describe this B&B! Jen is a sweet hostess and it’s obvious that she appreciates the beauty and history of her home. It was very nice to have a choice to eat breakfast in our room, simply because we wanted this to be a laid-back weekend without the need to be up and dressed by a certain time, etc. The breakfasts were scrumptious, as were the chocolate chip cookies that were baked fresh every night (oh, and the chocolate candies that were set out in little baskets throughout the home were super yummy too)! Saturday morning we biked on the Elroy-Sparta trail to Norwalk and back. We were pleasantly surprised that the trail wasn’t very busy at all! We really enjoyed meeting the owner and bartender at “Lil’s” in Norwalk (where we stopped for a cold drink before heading back to Sparta) and the small chats we had with some of the other bikers on the trail. Overall, the weather was gorgeous, the hospitality amazing, the bike ride was peaceful, the accommodations were wonderful, and the food was delicious! We had a really great time….it was a perfect anniversary!! Thanks, Jen! John and Sheri, Mankato, MN.
Thank you John and Sheri, Happy 10th we look forward to your 11th when we hope you will return to stay with us again. We are very happy you had a wonderful stay.

What a great bed and breakfast! Jennifer was wonderful and shared with us her house and the history of the bed and breakfast. The room was perfect and everything you could think of was there for us to use...very thoughtful! Breakfast was awesome and we left with full stomaches for the bike trail! Thanks for the wonderful vacation! We will definitely be back! Phil and Sharon

I stayed at this B&B in 1994. I was ecstatic to come back in 2011 to discover it is still airy, immaculate, beautiful, quiet, and safe!
We were not the owners of property in 1994 but have made many new friends and have been able to host many new guests. We are happy you came back to Sparta for a visit and had a wonderful time.

Jennifer is a gracious hostess, sharing information about the home and the area. Everything is glistening-clean, and there are "extra touches" at every turn. To top it off, the breakfast is superb.

I thoroughly enjoyed the visit with my sisters back to the "big house". It brought back some wonderful memories of my younger years. It was a pleasure to meet Jen Dunn, and see what she had done to the house. A truly wonderful experience to sleep in my bedroom of the 60's. Thanks Jen for your exceptional hospitality. Great time! Elda (Dutton) Hinch.
I was so happy that you shared your pictures and family stories about living in this house when you were young. It is a piece of my puzzle I feel I know about more about with the history of the property. It was truly wonderful to meet you all. Thank you again for sharing and look forward to your next visit.

We had an amazing time. The Franklin was very clean and cozy. Very quiet and relaxing after a long day of biking the Elroy-Sparta trail. Breakfast was great both days and we would recommend this to everyone.
Riding the Elroy-Sparta bike trail is a highlight of the area recreation and we are so happy that you came. After the long ride we know that NAPS are very important, so we love providing you the privacy and a cozy place to be. Thank you and look forward to your return stay.

Quick trip to the area to bike the trail from Elroy to Sparta. The Inn is conveniently located within walking distance to an assortment of dining options, perfect for evening stroll. Jennifer was ever so helpful helping us find a local winery to visit on our way back home. Breakfast was fabulous.
So happy you were able to fit in a stop at the Winery on your way home from staying with us. Glad to be of help and look forward to your visit to the SW Hidden Vallies area again.

Each year we go on a biking weekend with three other couples, so the Franklin B&B was perfect for us. Jennifer is great and even provided plates and silverware for our hors d'oeuvres. The breakfasts were delicious. We loved sitting on the front porch. The Inn is very cozy & comfortable. Great location. We plan to go back. John & Judy

The Franklin Victorian B&B was a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. The historic site has been beautifully maintained, the room was great, and the sheets were really soft. Jennifer was very welcoming and even willing to accommodate my special dietary requests for breakfast. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
Yes, our guests love our soft sheets and they can even get some to purchase so they can take home with them. We are glad you had a wonderful time staying with us and it was great to meet you and we look forward to your stay with us again and we are happy you took the time to give a review for us and and our future guests. We stayed at the Franklin B&B while in the area to run a half marathon. It was quiet and the bed was super comfy so we slept well. Jennifer prepared a special brown bag breakfast for us early in the morning to have ready for our run and even thought of packing Gatorade. There are many 24/7 amenities available and lots of thoughtful extras. We will stay again for next year's half marathon.
We take pride in our B&B and making our guests and future guest feel special and all our special touches are for you! Thank you and we look forward to your return stay with us.

I randomly picked this B and B off the internet because it was the perfect distance from my home to stop on a driving trip to bring my son to college and it was a cozy and charming experience! The rooms were sweet and old fashioned yet impeccably neat. There were so many interesting things to look at all around, and so thoughtfully furnished. The service was perfect and very accommodating. All in all, it was a fabulous place to stay and I will be back for sure.
We are happy you stayed with us because we to have a daughter in college and know how the moving of our kids to college can be stressful. We are happy you were able to relax and a cozy stay here before your next day of travel to college with your son, we hope all things went well.

Jennifer is a great hostess. Her attention to all sorts of details is very impressive. We have stayed at many B&B's and I must say that those little touches created a comfortable, even nurturing environment - more so than most any place that we have stayed. The B&B is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay in spite of the fact that my husband got sick while we were there. Jennifer couldn't have been more helpful in stepping up and doing more than what we would have expected to compensate for the glitch in our vacation.
Yes, I started my morning takening my guest to emergancy because he was not felling well from the day before travels. They were traveling by motorcycle. I was able to drop everything take him in my car and get him and his wife there for help. It was a very windy day with warnings, so for them to travel to their next B&B was not recommended either and I wanted him to feel better and just rest for the day at the B&B, and they agreed. He started feeling better and they were able to travel the next day. We always want our guests to be at the top of care and I was glad to step in and help.

Located in a very quite neighborhood, they had a large garage to store our bikes. The rooms were very vintage and the house was loaded with beautiful wood work and a fantastic stain glass window. Great food, cookies and hospitality. Lots of restaurants in the immediate area.
Spata is about small town of about 9000 people. We are just two blocks from the downtown area of shops and nice places to eat. We are happy your stay with us was nice and exceeded!

Beautiful B&B. We stayed in the Franklin Suite. The bedroom and bed were very comfortable. My husband loved the soft sheet! Our bathroom was large with a spa tub and rain shower. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. This B & B had everything one could ask for - games, books, DVD, wireless access, local information, etc. Appreciated the innkeepers attention to details in the room.
Thank you for your nice review. We are happy you enjoyed our creamy/soft...sheets and were able to relax on what the Franklin Suite has to offer. Just remember if you like our sheets you are always welcome to order some from us at anytime, just send us an email.

My wife and I were exhausted after a tough couple of weeks and drove 3.5 hours to get to Sparta. As soon as we stepped into the fantastic inn and saw our beautiful room we began feeling calm and refreshed, this is not hypebole. The service was perfect, gracious but in no way intrusive. The Franklin Victorian in Sparta, WI is absolutely charming, well-preserved and obviously lovingly cared for. We found the proprietress to be rather too strict, which is understandable given this is her home, but she was strict to the point of being inflexible and not as accommodating as an innkeeper should be.
I have never heard this before in all my years of inn keeping. We are not "strict" innkeepers and we are very flexible and accommodating to our guests needs. They can come and go as they please, we give them their privacy. We always tell our guest is there anything we can do for them, get them, make their stay better; WE want to know and are very open people. We take great care and pride in our B&B. Thank you for giving us your feedback, we wish we would have known your feelings or concerns before this review and knew more. Thank you.

I have never been to a B&B that had as many details (small touches) as the FVBB. From cookies, coffee in the early morning, candy dishes everywhere..wine and cheese tasting, just to mention a few. We found everything we could need or use for our stay and then some. Things I forgot or wouldn't have thought of to bring along were in baskets in our room. The sheets they use were wonderful! And the food, outstanding! I think they go the extra mile to make it a warm, inviting place to visit.
We love it when our guests are WOW-ed! We make sure their stay with us at our B&B is a great experieince from the candy and cookies to the full breakfast, coffee in the morning. We go the extra mile for everyone and we look forward to your return stay. Thank you for the review.

Planned a 2 day trip on the Elroy-Sparta trail biking with an overnight at the Franklin House. Well, rain shortened the biking to one day but the visit to the Franklin House and guidance from innkeeper Jen, saved the day as we had a wonderful visit and were informed of some great alternative activities in the Sparta area, from antique shopping to dining to the Deke Slayton (astronaut)-Bicycling Museum.
Guests, we always hope that the weather is perfect for biking on the Sparta-Elroy trail but sometimes that does not happen. I am glad we were able to have other things to do and visit her in the area. We have many things to do for all guests enjoyment. We are please that you had a nice stay and look forward to your return for biking and hope for blue sky.

We loved our first B&B experience. Everything from when we walk in the door, to our room, amenities, inside bike storage and an awesome breakfast that Jennifer cooked were all Outstanding! Their website was very easy to use; make a reservation, see what is available in the area from activities to restaurants. We rode the Elroy-Sparta bike trail and were able to ride to the trail from the B&B. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the extra care Jennifer and Steve give to their guests is awesome. They know the area and have many great suggestions. We watched movies in the room on the DVD player they provide, played games, listening to cd’s and read books on the wonderful front porch. We felt well rested during our stay, and it was hard to leave. We will definitely be back next year to ride more trails and see Jennifer and Steve at the B&B.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy lives and write a great review of the time you experience here with us. You are Welcome!

The cleanliness of the room was second rate and the food for an inn thought to be an elegant place to enjoy an evening and with a opportunity to dine in a stately yet beautiful victorian home and also to look forward to an elegant yet outstandinmg breakfast meal was just plain and simple both days. I would have thought the cook/check would have been more creative. Eggs with potatoes both mornings and no less cooked sausage with different items added each day and a bit of fruit on the side, quit bland to say the least when compared to the advertising and stature of the residence.
For 8 years, we are an award-winning bed and breakfast. Reviews for our B&B have been highly complimented in cleanliness and breakfasts by so many. We understand our clients most which are wanting a smaller, healthy and hearty breakfast because of the sports they are taking part in while here. (Reviewers, we do only provide breakfast with our licensing). We only have one recipe with potatoes and we show a sample menu http://www.franklinvictorianbb.com/samplemenu.php for all guests to view on our website. Guests want our recipes and see them on our website and can’t wait to make themselves. Many guests do not want a lot for breakfast (smaller proportion) they tell us because many of the guests don't usually even eat breakfast, so they enjoy what we serve and they don't even have to cook. We have a beautiful Victorian B&B and we hope everyone has a wonderful experience and as you can see by our other reviews guests, enjoy their stay. So, come be our guests and enjoy biking, canoeing, Amish and many other things that this area has to offer.

We stayed in the Master Bedroom and I found it a little too cluttered. The dark wallpaper made me a little claustrophobic. The porch was nice, but the seat cushions on the wicker furniture not very comfortable. We loved the inn's accessibility to the Elroy-Sparta trail and appreciated the dining recommendation of Angelini's. Saturday morning breakfast was superb!
Thank you for taking time for a review. To have personal options on Interior design, what is clutter and softness of cushions is all personal preferences’ and we value yours. With so many guests annually we try to provide them a great experience, it is hard to be custom to all personal preferences’ of our guests, but we sure do try. We are glad you enjoyed your bike trip and breakfast. We hope you can stay again longer next time and thank you.

No detail was too small. It was quite obvious that lots of thought and attention was put into creating a wonderful retreat from the world. This is a wifi connection and computer available if one doesn't want to be too disconnected, though I preferred being completely unplugged for my visit. Definitely recommend this B&B! All the accolades are on the money. And the scrumptious breakfast will keep you going until dinner time.
We love Happy Guests! Hospitality is planning and meeting guests expectations. Thank you for the wonderful review and we will look forward to your next stay.

We have been around several B&B's all around Wisconsin over the years, and this one ranks among the top three in the state in our opinion. The rooms are wonderful, decorated with taste. The property has only 4 rooms, and is maintained with a meticulous attention to details. We especially appreciated the air-jet bath, and the garage to store our bikes overnight, before heading to the Elroy-Sparta trail in the morning.
Captivating memories is a source of pure refreshment. Now you have new memories of staying at the Franklin Victorian. We enjoyed having you as our guests and look forward to recapping many more great times.

We stayed one night at the Franklin Victorian B&B and will likely return during the summer to try out the bike trails. The B&B is exceptionally clean and quiet and the service is wonderful. We stayed in the Master Suite, which was warm and inviting. Breakfast was very good and enough to hold us for a good part of the day. If there is a downside, it is that there is no TV in the room, but depending on your perspective, that could be an upside as well! The innkeepers do a superb job at making sure all your needs are met. I would highly recommend this B&B.
Thank you for sharing your review. We try to make your experience special and away from noise of TV's and thing you do daily. We always look forward to guests helping us meet guests expectations. The overall rating is very much appreciated.

It's been years since we have stayed at a b and b but we quickly remembered why we used to enjoy these stays so much. Everything was wonderful; the ONLY complaint is that the mattress was a bit saggy (I am used to a firm mattress). Very clean, fabulous service, would like to return some day.
Yes, we have had a cooler October but the Fall Color is wonderful on the roads and bike trails. We are so happy you had a nice stay with us. (Yes, if we could have mattress for all likes that would be wonderful). We are happy for your review and we look forward to your return.

We don't normally stay at B & B's, but our wonderful experience at Franklin Victorian has changed our minds. The lovely decor was very comfortable with so many little details that made us feel at home. It was the perfect place to relax after a long day of biking on the Sparta-Elroy trail. Transportation to the trail, storage for our bikes, walking distance to good dining establishments, delicious breakfasts, variety of beverages available 24/7, computer, TV, and comfortable beds were just a few of the amenities of Franklin Victorian. Best of all, innkeeper, Jennifer, was genuinuely, friendly and accommodating. Jeanne & Bill

The Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast was one of the best places I have ever stayed at. The house was charming and the Mater Room was so comfortable. I really enjoyed the king sized bed. I had not slept that well in months! There was a tone of info in the room about the town we were in and previous guests left suggestions and that was very helpful when it came time to find a place to eat. I would strongly recommend the Franklin as a great place to stay. The breakfast in the morning was so delicious and the conversation with the other guests was a great way to start off your day. Plus, the chocolate around the house was a nice treat!!
We are SOOOO happy you had a great nights sleep and stay with us. Thank you

We had spent five nights in northern Wisconsin at a friends lake house. We were only seven hours away from home, but wanted to continue our relaxing week, so we choose to stop about half way home and stay at the Franklin Vistorian Bed & Breakfast in Sparta. This B&B was warm, welcoming, and more than was advertised. We also got to meet 3 other wonderful couples and enjoyed talking with them during the wine and cheese tasing in the evening, after dinner, and during the delicious breakfast that was served. Jennifer and Steve are delightful host.
Our guests are wonderful and many friendships are made during their stays. Thank you

It was our first stay in a bed and breakfast. We had recieved a gift card for a wedding gift and didn't get around to using it until a year later. When we were getting ready to go, my biggest concern was lack of privacy. We just wanted to get away and spend quiet time with each other. The Franklin House is so wonderful. The only time we really saw the other guests was at breakfast. It was very nice to hear the experiences the others have had with other B & B's. The guests gave suggestions too on what to do in the area as we hadn't ever been to Sparta. We never got bored or ran out out of things to do. The porch was AWESOME, sitting and listening to the birds and having a cup of coffee to start the day. We were so impressed that we will definitely plan another trip back. Jennifer was a most enjoyable host, she made us feel very comfortable and was available whenever we needed her. It made us believe we can enjoy another B & B. We have decided that we would rather stay at a B & B instead of a hotel/motel anytime. Thank you so much Jennifer for everything.

From taking us to a bike shop to buy an extra tube (we were plagued with flats on our weekend visit) to offering helpful hints about restaurants and directions, we were well taken care of during our visit at the Franklin Victorian B&B. Lovely home, gracious hosts.

We had a great stay at The Franklin Victorian. It was nice to receive the shuttle to the Elroy Sparta trail and suggestions of where to stop along the way. All of the extras were fun too - candy dishes with candy, pop in the fridge and cookies at night. They thought of everything - robes, games, movies, many choices of drinks available at any time. The front porch is a fun place to sit and relax.

I had the pleasure of staying here on a business trip recently. I had driven 9 and a half hours to get to Sparta and was well in need of recharging my batteries. The house is gorgeous, the accommodations were pleasant and inviting and the service was impeccable. The peacefulness of this house gave me the necessary respite to continue by journey. Far better than staying at a chain hotel. Highly recommended. Kevin
Thank you Kevin and we hope you will stay with us again on your business trip to Sparta.

My husband and I spent 2 days and nights in Sparta for a fun, romantic getaway. One day we biked nearly 60 miles, then canoed lazily down the Kickapoo River the next. We felt spoiled to be able to come back to our B&B each evening to relax and unwind. We especially enjoyed rocking on the front porch and joining in with the small town pace of Sparta.
We are happy you were able to enjoy the many silent sports that our area has to offer. Many bike the trails and roads but there is many more things to do for everyone in the area. Thank you.

This B&B is absolutely fantastic! Trust me - there won't be enough room to truly rate this facility! The Innkeepers (Steve & Jennifer Dunn) go out of their way to make you feel at home and with our visit, they succeeded! The facility is spotless, beautiful & so cozy! The food is out of this world! I've even gone so far as to print some of their recipes to enjoy them at home. I just can't say enough good about the Franklin Victorian B&B. Franklin B&B is a beautiful old house in Sparta, Wis., known as the “Biking Capital of the World.” This B&B offers so many amenities – spring water, coffee, tea, snacks, toiletries, board games, magazines, CD player and CDs – that we felt pampered and very well taken care of. Jennifer, the innkeeper, prepared special breakfasts with our food allergies and special diets in mind – for which we are grateful. Tourist information, including bike trail books and brochures, was plentiful and appreciated. The room was comfortable, quiet and spotless. Karen & Rich

We stayed 1 night at FVBB in the Master Suite. The room was very comfortable with lots of little touches. I was very impressed with these as this was the most attention to detail we've seen at a B and B. However given that, there were a few negatives that if improved would make the inn topnotch. The first is their beverage/snack area in the second floor hallway. Just about everything was thought of and included but pop and bottled water were offered for a fee on an honor basis. These costs are so insignificant, they should be included in the room rate. I thought it very unusual to offer so many other complimentary beverages but not these. The next item was the shower. It's very nice, has different shower heads, but was at times burning hot and others lukewarm at best. Depended on time of day. Was difficult to get a nice temperature. The last item that could be better was how breakfast is served in room. We would much rather prefer a basket or tray placed outside our door. The innkeeper actually comes in to set the table with the first course and comes back again with the main course. Our idea of a private in-room breakfast does not involve having the innkeepers enter our room. Overall this inn is beautiful, peaceful, and they've thought of many details but with a few improvements, it could be absolutely outstanding.
"Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback. We are always seeking ways to improve our services and it was kind of you to take time from your busy schedule to give us a candid review. We welcome ideas from our customers and will certainly review your suggestions carefully."

We had a wonderful stay in your B&B. The home itself is absolutely gorgeous. I have stayed in many B&B's but have never stayed in one so well appointed. I can't think of a single thing missing but I could go on to mention many, many things present in the rooms that I've not seen in other B&B's (i.e.,great books, magazines, games, chocolate, teas, white noise machines, DVD players, etc.). I can't conclude without noting the phenomenal breakfast. I truly shouldn't have eaten it all but it was far too good to pass up. I don't think one could top the apple dumplings!

FVBB was by far the most beautiful place I'd ever stayed in. The breakfast was delicious, the home was immaculate, the hosts knew who wanted to chat and who wanted to be left secluded, and everything was very relaxing and wonderful. Highly recommended!

The Franklin Victorian is a beautiful old home with a great deal of history. The inn keepers have done a fantastic job with creating a step back in time feel, and all the extras and special touches provided made for a very enjoyable stay.
Thank you, we are happy you had a nice time.

My wife and stayed at the inn for our first anniversary and loved everything about it. The breakfast was excellent both days we stayed. The second day we stayed, the power was out but Jennifer went out of her way to prepare a wonderful fruit bowl to tide us over until the power had been restored. Even after the power came back on, she tool the time to prepare a full meal for all of us. That's dedication! And it was greatly appreciated by all of us. The Franklin (the room we had) was very spacious and had distinct separation between the bedroom and the sitting area/bathroom. It was all very quaint and exactly what we love about B&B's. Plus the prices are great! Others B&B's I had looked at on this site were higher priced and not close to the Elroy-Sparta trail. If you're in the Sparta area looking for a place to stay while biking in the area or if you're just looking for a weekend retreat away from the city where you actually CAN see stars, you definitely can't go wrong staying at the Franklin.

My husband & I needed some time away and some friends of ours stayed at the Franklin Victorian B & B this past summer and recommended it. My husband’s passion is biking so this was a perfect choice for both our liking. Not having stayed in a B & B prior to this I was not sure what to expect. The home was beautiful; our room The Master Bedroom provided enough room and atmosphere for great one on one time. My only issue would be no space to store clothing. THE FOOD WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. Jennifer's cooking is amazing...who knew strawberry soup could taste so fantastic. We spent time reading from the library and played a game of "Some Enchanted Evening" which took us back 20 years in romantic memories and we hope our laughter didn’t annoy anyone. Jennifer kept the cookie jar outside our room filled with the best homemade cookies (We think every guest there was sneaking out every so often to have “Just One More”) and there was plenty of healthy snacks and drinks available as well. Our time spent on the Sprata-Elroy bike trail was one we wont soon forget. The scenery was breathtaking & we had a great lunch at one of the trailside stops. We were able to keep our bikes safe in the garage and Jennifer unlocked it bright and early for my husband who likes to get a few 25 miles in before 7 am. I would most certainly recommend the Franklin Victorian B & B to anyone looking to relax and maybe even fall in love all over again. Thanks Jennifer & Steve for a great time!! Thanks to my husband too!!

The Dunns pay particular attention to details in the comforts that they provide their guests. We are impressed with their affiliations with being a green environment and meeting national standards. It is fascinating to look at the history of the home they provide as well as the carefully thought out reading and touring materials available.

We loved our visit to Franklin Victorian B&B. Jennifer was so kind and helpful, with good suggestions about what to do, where to eat, and what to see. The house and gardens are beautiful and she and Steve keep everything so nice. After a day of biking the massage shower was oh-so-wonderful. And porch sitting in the evenings was the frosting on the cake. We turned our two night stay into three...just didn't want to leave. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Was a very nice B&B....we were pleased....very efficiently run...my only suggestion is the home was quite historic and had many beautiful antiques and some of the furnishings ie curtains/valances etc were a bit "cheap" which took away from the charm in my opinion...and too many nicknack's made for clutter...otherwise i was pleasantly surprised at how lovely the experience was.
Many of us have subjective opinions of others decor & what maybe consided clutter. When you do not know what was the cost is others unfair opinions. When people typically stay at prime motels there is not a comfortable home feeling which we provide and the majority of our guests and reviews please love the experiece of our B&B.

My girlfriend and I were in Sparta for a surprise birthday party for my sister and decided to stay at the Franklin. We couldn't have made a better choice. The innkeepers are extremely nice and friendly and the service was really outstanding. This is a beautiful B & B. Steve and Jennifer really make you feel wecome and comfortable with lots of treats, a white noise machine in each room, CD player in each room, plush robes and slippers, and great food. The one thing our room didn't have was a jacuzzi tub for two, but that was hardly a negative. One doesn't always need a whirlpool to soak in and set the mood. The furnishings and ambience of this turn of the century home do indeed take one back to a quieter time when life wasn't nearly as frantic and frenzied as today. We will be going back, and soon.
We are so happy the Birthday Surprise was a great time. Thank you for the kind words and we are so happy you were about to relax and we hope for you to come again.

The room (Bethany) was lovely and the bathroom perfect - claw tub and shower. The breakfasts in the perfectly period diningroom were a combination of wonderful food and friendly conversation with the other guests. I was travelling on business to Sparta but could not find a nationally know chain hotel after a quick internet search. This was to my benefit as I found the Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast and decided to give it a try. The property, both inside and out, is immaculate. The feeling of walking back in time to the Victorian age in America is tangible. My room was clean and comfortable and the private bath unexpectedly large. "Bethany's Room" was very nice but if I have a chance to return, I will reserve one of the other more "masculine" rooms. The common rooms were beautifully furnished with both historic and modern ammenities. I was glad to see there was a computer terminal and wireless throughout the inn. Jennifer Dunn was a fantastic hostess. She gave a nice introductory tour and was available to answer all of my questions. She prepared an unexpectedly delicious breakfast which I won't soon forget. I hope to return to Sparta with my wife so she can also enjoy a relaxing stay at the Franklin Victorian.
Thank you for coming to us during your business travel and we look forward to being you Midwest choice soon.

We stayed one night in the Master bedroom. Nicely decorated. There seemed to be lots of signs indicating what you could and couldn't do (e.g., don't use white towels for removing make-up, etc). However, the innkeepers did think of all kinds of little things to make sure that guests are comfortable. Food was great.
We provide quality and an experience for all our guests. Really just one reminder sign for our guests to help in providing a quality product for the next.

My first experience at a B&B was a great one. The rooms were immaculate and beautifully decorated. The food was beyond delicious and Steve and Jennifer were accomodating beyond necessity. The murder mystery my seven friends and I participated in was so much fun. Myself and seven of my friends stayed at the Franklin Victorian B&B for a Murder Mystery slumber party. It was one of the best trips and experiences that I have had in a long time. The food was to die for and we all loved playing the Murder Mystery game. It really was a great way for us to step out of our comfort zone, dress up into a costume and then try and figure out who the murderer was among us. We had a lot of laughs and we all agreed we would definitely stay here again. The rooms were also magical. The decorations and feel to each room was more than impressive. Each bedroom had its own bathroom which I thought was a major plus since this was my first time staying at a B&B and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Kuddo’s to Jennifer and Steve for running a top notch establishment!! Thanks for the wonderful memory!!!!!!! Jackie Burkhardt

We were given a night's stay as a gift from our children and it was a fabulous excursion. The hosts were great, especially considering we rode our bikes 20 miles in the rain to get to the inn. The host let us wash off our bikes and provided dry storage for the bikes and plastic bags for our wet clothes. The decor of the inn is unbelieveable. The woodwork is the original from 1900 and looks magnificient. The rooms are very spacious with lots of treats and amenities to make for a great stay. Breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend this AWESOME B & B! My husband and I have stayed at numerous B & B's and the Franklin Victorian is truly one of the BEST! We were fortunate to enjoy the Franklin Suite. From the moment you drive up to this 6000 square foot Victorian Home to the closing of the double solid oak front doors our stay exceeded all expectations. The entire home is absolutely immaculate, Jennifer was very helpful, our suite was very relaxing and beautifully decorated, the breakfast was the best we have ever had at a B & B, the location is also excellent to access the bike trail and some excellent restaurants. You can tell the Dunn's love their job and it truly shows in how much pride they take in sharing this one of a kind home with others and seeing that your stay is memorable.
