Mid-June brought the roses into full bloom and a plein air painter captured them on canvas! We are hoping the roses are still beautiful this Friday when a public television film crew stops by to include Port Washington Inn in an episode focusing on Port Washington. While daffodils bloomed, a writer for Midwest Living visited. Port Washington Inn continues to receive great reviews from guests. Good things are happening!
Port Washington Inn's Door County Cherry Bread Pudding took top honors at the 2010 WBBA Cook-Off where this photo was taken. Early morning coffee (or tea) is one of the delights of a stay at PWI and helps to bring guests to the dining room with smiles on their faces! Upon arrival in the dining room, guests are greeted by a wide variety of options on our breakfast buffet. Always included are our oven toasted wholewheat bread made with freshly ground wheat, our granola, home cultured yogurt, meat (served separately), eggs which may be a frittata, an omelet (or even eggs to order upon occasion), fruit which may be fresh, baked, or a sauce, breakfast breads, scones, crepes, or bread pudding! Add freshly brewed robust coffee and your choice of juice and you can imagine one of our winning breakfast combinations! It is delicious, tasty fare that settles well and energizes you for your day. Breakfast brings people back to PWI!
In 2010 Port Washington Inn received a brand new look with new siding, trim, and paint! What a glorious day it was when, painting accomplished and flowers in bloom, the inn no longer looked like a (re)construction site! Now the beauty of the exterior matches the beauty of the interior. Those of you who are into restoration know the rewards!
Entertaining family and friends was dear to the hearts of the Blessings and their home was designed with that in mind. Now the common area available to guests, the double parlors are a serene place to enjoy time together or to make new friends.
Buit in 1903 by George & Eva Blessing, this house was designed to impress visitors when they arrived at the front door. Guests of the Port Washington Inn enjoy off street parking to the back of the inn which has dictated that the back door is the door of preference for its ease of access. The fleur de lis design within the beveled glass of the front door was chosen by Eva Blessing who hailed from Alsace Lorraine. She was quick to claim equal German heritage as her husband who liked to tease her about being French!
Dorothy's Room, like the dining room, enjoys morning sun and overlooks the grounds of the inn. It's view of Lake Michigan is enhanced when leaves are off the trees for the season and it basks in the shade of our trees spring, summer, and fall.
Throughout the inn, you are likely to find the decor to be a soothing combination of function and design. Dave and Aaron have custom made many fine furniture pieces for the inn, often antique reproductions. Throughout, the decor of the inn attempts to be in keeping with its original vintage and style while behind the scenes the inn has been updated to be highly efficient as is reflected in our Travel Green Wisconsin certification. We are "hands on" innkeepers who own, operate, create, and maintain our inn. That inclination spills over into the food we serve which is created from scratch with the finest ingredients.
Generous hospitality is a theme at Port Washington Inn and breakfast, served buffet style in our formal dining room, will satisfy your appetite with a variety of sweet and savory options, coffee brewed to perfection, and flavor derived from the best ingredients prepared from scratch in the inn kitchen
The Top of the World Suite is a welcoming and versatile space accommodating 2-4 people. This is the sitting room portion and the dormer to the left offers views of Lake Michigan. The couches shown are able to be configured as sofas, chaises, twin beds, or a king bed. The desk in the dormer to the right is perfect for accommodating a laptop and wi-fi throughout the building allows you to take care of the necessities online during your stay.

Port Washington's location along the shores of Lake Michigan and half an hour or less from Milwaukee, Kohler, Sheboygan, and West Bend makes it a popular destination. History, picturesque charm, a lighthouse museum,an art deco lighthouse, the Interurban bike trail, the marina with parks at both ends, and beach with improved access are treasures much appreciated in the very walkable historic district of downtown Port Washington. Harrington Beach State Park, Riveredge Nature Center, and Historic Cedarburg are all within 10 miles. Let us help make your visit to our area a pleasant one. Here's what recent guests wrote about their stay: "We sincerely and completely enjoyed every aspect of our stay here and we have the two of you to thank for that. Not only have you been excellent innkeepers (this place is stunning!), but you have also been tour guides, culinary experts, historians, storytellers, conversationalists, baristas, and so much more. This has been a weekend to remember, and we hope to make our visits on a regular basis. Thank you again for making our getaway weekend so special."

5 out of 5Port Washington Inn Stay
September 19, 2012
Probably the most enjoyable stay we have had at a B&B ever. The hosts were very personable, they knew just when to see if we needed anything and when to stay away, the inn itself is amazing and the breakfast was just great. One of the most relaxing times my wife and I have had while away from home. If you are looking for a great place to spend your time, and a great surrounding community, you really won't find a better place to rest your head. Mike and Lyn Russell

5 out of 5Best Bed & Breakfast to relax and re-charge!
June 24, 2012
My fiance and I stayed at the Port Washington Inn for 4 lovely nights. This charming inn was clean, cozy and beautiful. Each morning we woke to fresh coffee and a wonderful breakfast of eggs, breakfast meats, home made yogurt and more. Each day we had a baked treat waiting for us in our room. The grounds were spectacular and the walk to the lake and marina was so enjoyable. I really did not want to leave. Thanks to Dave & Rita, the Inn keepers for such a memorable vacation. - Melissa M. 5 out of 5Wonderful!
June 23, 2012
My wife and I just spent three wonderful nights at the Port Washington Inn. We highly recommend you stay here if you are seeking accomadations anywhere in the area. Here is a list of our favorite details: 1. The views, the landscaping and the inn are all spectacular to the eye 2. The comfortable beds and overall cleanliness 3. Attention to all details by the Inn-keepers 4. The proximity to the lake 5. The food prepared is incredible 6. Total privacy 7. Friendliness of the Inn-keepers I could go on and on but all you need to know is that you couldn't find nicer owners, you probably won't want ever be in a hurry to leave this great B & B and the comfort is incredible. They culture their own yogurt, grind their own wheat for homemade bread and present to you a breakfast you won't soon forget. Rita and Dave, thank you for giving us a chance to rest and recharge at your lovely spot on the hill overlooking Lake Michigan. Hope to see you again!

May 16, 2012
We just came back from a two night stay at this lovely inn. It was so peaceful, the food was so delicious and the inn keepers so nice to visit with that I just booked a return visit for three nights in the fall. There is so much to see and do in the area and this is just the place to stay while you are there! If you are lucky enough to try the award winning bread pudding or their delicious light and fluffy omelets you will find your self looking forward to the next day's breakfast with relish! Relax, Refresh, Restore at the Port Washington Inn with this gracious family.
