Arbor House, An Environmental Inn

  • Inn Details

Arbor House, An Environmental Inn is one of Madison's oldest existing homes located across from the UW-Arboretum (1280 acres of nature). Originally built as a tavern and stagecoach stop, this 1800's landmark is evolving into a model for urban ecology. The Arbor House Annex is an award-winning structure housing a timber-framed great room and three incredible guest rooms. The inn is perfect for a business retreat or reunion with friends or family. Our gift certificates make wonderful gifts.

We were dropping off our youngest daughter at UW-Madison and wanted to explore the Madison, Wisconsin Campus area. We wanted to bike around the beautiful city and our friends recommended Arbor House (http://www.arbor-house.com) as a great place to stay. Rooms were spacious, quiet, friendly staff, and a great location for upcoming Badger games and visits. You feel like family when you stay at Arbor House and would recommend again. The arboretum is directly across the street, and quaint shopping is just a few blocks away. This video captures everything we were looking for. Grret time and we will stay here again.

I stayed at the Arbor House for a Girlfriends' weekend away. We had a very clean room with excellent service. The smell of fresh baked brownies is what we arrived to. All the natural/organic products were a plus. The walks around the area were beautiful and it was always quiet/relaxing. The best part was how accommodating they were with my Gluten-Free diet. Not only was I able to enjoy the desserts, meals and snacks that the rest of the guests were able to eat, but the Gluten-Free version was absolutely delicious! My next visit to Madison will include a stay at the Arbor House. I thank them very much for the comfort and the service.

Spent three nights at Arbor House, an urban oasis not far from the University. Great walks in the area, beautiful rooms, a sauna, and attentive service.

    Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Very much appreciated the bicycling facilities, excellent way to see around Madison. Lovely company at breakfast. Remarkably quiet despite proximity to main road. (visitors from Austalia).

My husband and I stayed two nights for a couple's get away in June. We loved our room, the Inn, and the location. The only problem we encountered was at the cocktail hour and breakfast. There was never enough food, glasses or plates for the number of guests staying (around 8 each night). The guests who arrived a little later during the service were stuck hunting down someone to replenish the food and service items. Seems like they could either put out enough at the beginning or check back to see how it is going during the service instead of disappearing completely.
