We have stayed a number of times at the Black Walnut and will likely return. The rooms, hospitality and breakfast are outstanding! Sturgeon Bay is a nice town to stay in and use as the home base as you can explore the other fun towns in Door County.

My husband & I recently visited Door County and chose The Black Walnut Guest House for our accommodations. We enjoyed our stay very much. Our room was very comfortable and decorated beautifully. Really enjoyed having our own private outside space as well. Our delicious breakfast tray arrived at our door promptly every morning at our chosen time. The innkeeper is a wonderful cook and each breakfast exceeded our expectations. She was very helpful with any questions and/or suggestions that we asked of her. The Black Walnut Guest House is within walking distance of the downtown and plenty of yummy restaurants. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again on a return visit to Door Co.

My husband and I stayed at the Black Walnut for 6 nights while visiting Door County in August 2014. We couldn't have been happier with our choice of The Black Walnut Guest House... Geri is very welcoming and has a calm, warm personality. She gives you a tour of the house and goes over parking, entry areas of the home, and breakfast. She personally makes the cookies, granola, and breakfast each morning--And it is delicious! We stayed in the Arts and Crafts room. It is the largest of the rooms. The in-room bathroom is small and contains a sink, toilet, and a small shower. There is a vent in the bathroom so it was quite cool in there when the air was on. It is approximately 75-80% wall height so you can hear, but not see, what is going on in the bathroom. There is an armoire with hangers to store your clothes. On each side of the bed there is a two-drawer nightstand with table lamp. The pillows and bed were very comfortable! There is a double-sided glass fireplace separating the sleeping area from the sitting area. Sitting area also houses the large, deep two-person whirlpool. The room has a 2nd small sink, microwave, TV (with cable), DVD player, and mini fridge. You have access to a semi-private patio as well. Breakfast is NOT communal and is hand-delivered to your room each morning at a time you specify by a gentle knock. The house is quiet and private even though it is located in Sturgeon Bay within walking distance to the marina, shops, bars, and restaurants. This was our first stay at a B&B and we were unsure what to expect. We cannot say enough positive things about The Black Walnut. We will definitely be returning!

The Black Walnut us understated outside while elegant inside. We could not help but simply relax in our room. The breakfasts were unique and exceptional. We strongly recommend the cherry juice when available and the snack cookies in the hall were a delightful treat.

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time at the Black Walnut Guest House. Geri is an exceptionally thoughtful and kind host, and the inn is beautiful. We loved our room, the inn's collection of movies, and the delicious breakfasts that Geri cooked for us! I can't imagine a nicer place to stay.

My husband and I came to Door County for the first time for our anniversary. We had never stayed at a B & B before but decided to try one after hearing Door County was known for them. This B & B seemed to have everything we were looking for and great reviews. Everything was perfect during our 4 night stay at the Black Walnut! We stayed in the cottage room and loved it. Despite probably being one of the smaller rooms, there was a very airy, cozy and charming feel to it and we had our own private balcony. The breakfast trays were so beautiful! They were always color coordinated with fresh flowers. The fresh fruit was so good. Geri also made us special breakfasts including omelettes, an egg scramble with veggies, freshly made smoothies and homemade oatmeal with bananas, coconut and walnuts. That was the best oatmeal I've ever had! Aside from the food, the rooms also had the same attention to detail. The towels and sheets were of very high quality, the bed was comfortable, the soaps were all organic and unique. There was door county cherry soap and lavender bath salts to use in the huge whirlpool tub. The fish tank and candles made for a romantic and unique experience. When we weren't exploring town, it was nice to have games and a wide selection of movies to choose from. Overall, Geri was a very kind hostess and was very knowledgable about the area. She helped us set up and/or find things to do by providing us maps and other information about what was going on during our stay. I can't say one bad thing about this place!

Mike and I enjoy anything to do with the outdoors. We golf and bike, walk and just enjoy spending time outside. We grill out often and like to picnic. My calling was to be in the hospitality business and so I have been my entire working life.
