The perfect gift for every occasion

  • Historic Victorian Oaklawn Inn, your Bed & Breakfast offers a rural setting, yet only minutes from downtown Menomonie.
Tiger: This room serves up the morning sunrise and the warm glow of an afternoon sun. Before renovation it sported orange and black tiger wallpaper. With Queen sized bed, private bath (shower), flourishing plants, artwork and shades of sage and rose, you can escape the jungle in this calming retreat.
Reflections: Overlooking a pond and walkway, with windows that offer an opportunity to just sit and gaze. This bright sunny room with Queen sized bed, comfy chair and private bath (shower), offers a vantage point for sunset viewing. Pull up a chair and indulge yourself in a few minutes of doing nothing.
Trillium: In May the woods outside the house are awash with Trilliums, Snowdrops and wild Violets. You'll be entertained anytime by songbirds and squirrels in the evergreens near by. Cuddle up with a good book and enjoy a comfortable and restful visit.
Oaklawn has stood watch over the surrounding fields for over 120 years. Originally, a stockfarm for trotters. Now, hosting guests. Ten minutes on the porch is guaranteed to erase the stresses of the week.
The morning porch. Filtered sunlight, a hot cup of coffee and wrens that just can't stop singing. What a way to start your day. You may have to duck for the humming birds. Hostas and other perennials add a colorful border.
The Sisters room. Named to acknowledge Menomonie's Sister City relationship and Fanny and Mabel Tainter, sisters, and the daughters of Andrew Tainter, lumberbaron.
Remember the throws on grandma's beds? Oaklawn still has them. Find a comfortable chair, read that book you've been carrying with you, mute the cell phone and recharge your own batteries.

This Victorian farmhouse, located in western WI was once the focal point of a 518 acre horse farm, owned by a lumber baron. A century ago trotters circled the oval tracks at Oaklawn Stock Farm. Today, stay and be enveloped by the quiet comforts of another time. We provide the amenities, including wi-fi, refreshments and accommodation for special diets, to make your visit with us effortless. Come for business, UW-Stout, family, biking the Red Cedar Trail or a show at the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts. Enjoy the peaceful screened porch, birds, walking paths, the stillness of a brilliant sunset and the warmth and hospitality that is the true character of such a grand old house.

    Going Back in Time

    April 30, 2013

We stayed one night in early spring and were delighted with the historic home where you can imagine all that must have transpired there over the last 100 years. Maggie has renovated and decorated so it is charming without being stuffy. Comfortable bed, wonderful food, gracious and friendly hostess. We loved the walking trails, screen porch, and bird songs.

    An Oasis in Menomonie

    April 24, 2013

Oaklawn Inn is a lovely, stately building built in the late 1800's. The rooms are very comfortable and the common areas are large and relaxing. The highlight of this B&B is the large, enclosed porch with a view to the grounds and wonderful sunsets. The owner is a gracious and knowledgeable hostess who makes a great breakfast. You cannot go wrong with this accomodation.

    Best of the Best!

    April 15, 2013

Lovely and comfortable accommodations, delicious and filling breakfast! Maggie is the epitome of a gracious host! We have stayed at B&Bs and rented vacation homes all over, so we were delighted to find the Oaklawn Inn where our son is a Freshman at the UW-Stout. We had stayed at area hotels during our initial visits to campus, but now that we've found the Oaklawn Inn, it will be our first choice!

Inn with History, Comfort, and Hospitality

    October 18, 2012

After many hours on the road all you want is a comfy and cozy place that feels like home to rest your mind, body, and soul. Oaklawn Inn is that place. Maggie, the Inn Keeper, is so accommodating and understanding. Our arrival time was late into the night but Maggie made it work. Our room was very comfortable, very nicely and tastefully decorated, and even had a view of the vast grounds surrounding the home. I highly recommend Maggie and the Oaklawn Inn.

    Perfect New Years Eve

    February 22, 2011

We had 3 couples and were the only guests that night. We went to the Mabel Tainter for music, had dinner downtown and when we got back she had our champagne on ice and champagne flutes set out for us. We played games at her dining room table until late. She was extremely accommodating and very hospitable. We felt very comfortable and "at home". One of the guys with us had not been keen on the idea of a bed & breakfast, but he loved it and wants to do it again. I am really glad we started him off at Oaklawn. There was a bath in every bedroom, the beds were comfortable, the decor was welcoming. All in all a Great Time!
