Clean & comfy

We love to stay at B&B's because of the awesome breakfast and historic buildings. Washington House had everything we loved about a Bed & Breakfast Inn. Clean Room, antiques, historic building, wine and cheese in the afternoon, in room hot tub, quiet place, no kids or pets, parking in back, friendly staff and walking distance to antique shops, places to eat and small town atmosphere. Our King size bed was great and all the furnishings were comfortable. We will stay again in another historic room. OUTSTANDING!

We were very pleased with our stay and hope to come back again sometime. The room was perfect and the food was great!

Just returned from a girls getaway/shopping trip. Folks at the inn were welcoming and helpful in providing recommendations for dining. The rooms were as they appear on the website. Beds were very comfortable; breakfast was more than one expects for continental; and, the afternoon wine/cheese reception provided a relaxing break after shopping. I definitely would stay again. The only "less than positive" was the height of the tub (about 20"). While I successfully navigated the getting in and out, it could be a challenge for those with flexibility issues. Overall, it was a great stay in an equally charming town.

Wonderful stay at historic Cedarburg, WI inn. Clean, comfortable, unique room. Delicious breakfast. Helpful, courteous, professional staff.

The staff was very hospitable and the breakfast was very good. I would have given the room a 5 star and though the room was very clean there was a very strong musty/humid odor in the room.

..we love staying at the Washing House Inn! We venture back there every chance we get. The town of Cedarburg WI, is as good as it gets too, with the shops, dining and the movie theater. The only negative is we have to leave.

WashingtonHouse Inn in the center of Cedarburg is a friendly, down to earth B &B. Close to restaurants and shops. Prefer to have sink in the bathroom, not in the bedroom.

Always a pleasure staying at the Washington House Inn. The amenities are fabulous and their care to detail is noted and appreciated. This is one of our favorite go-to places for a mini vacation and we will continue staying there for many years to come!

Beautiful room, Having a photo of each room online helped in making our decision. Nitpicking things: where was the whirlpool switch? (I could have asked). Almost spilled our coffees on our table at breakfast because chair was stuck between the legs of the table and shook the table when I tried to pull it out.

Beautiful room. Great wine & cheese hour and hearty breakfast buffet. You will not be disappointed at this inn.

The Washington House Inn is a great place to stay. This inn is very charming, with lovely decor and friendly staff. The breakfast is plentiful, with lots to choose from, including baked goods made from scratch. A very pleasant experience.

We absolutely loved the food. The Cedar Creek wine paired with cheese and crackers during happy hour, plus everythng at breakfast was wonderful. I especially loved the potato medley. The only problem that I had was that our room was right next to the street, so it was a bit noisy and there was alot of light coming into our room, so didn't get a very good night's sleep.

We don't know if we will make it back again but, we will have those memories at our favorite place!!!!! p.s. The wine and cheese hour and the breakfast is the BEST!!!!

We only stayed for 1 night but it was perfect. Room was comfort and very neat. The blankets and sheets on the bed were super comfortable and made sleeping in the bed enjoyable. The whirlpool tub was a great touch, you only dream about those tubs so it was nice to enjoy it. Staff was very nice and made us feel right at home. Cannot wait to go back!

4.2 on May 05, 2014
Breakfast both days was special and wine and cheese reception in evening very nice. Hostess and all workers very helpful. Loved walking the streets of Cedarburg as well. Bed very comfortable but almost needed a stool to get in and out. Problems with sump pump running and draining outside our room even 24 hours after the rain stopped. Otherwise terrific but would probably ask for another room next time because of the noisy pump.

The Washington House Inn is so nice and CLEAN! The entire place was spotless. The wine hour was great. The wine was delicious. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our only disappointment was the breakfast. My boyfriend was expecting omelets, eggs, bacon, etc. The only items available were mostly muffins and coffee cakes. Other than that, we would definitely stay again!
4.6 on April 18, 2014
This place is always outstanding, with very friendly service and a great breakfast! Rooms have great character and inn has very cozy ambiance. Will stay again! Rooms seem a tad expensive for the size, which makes staying often more difficult, but still a nice treat.

We came for a weekend get-a-way from Chicago and absolutely loved it! The room was super clean, the hot tub in the room was awesome. The fireplace was the perfect thing to relax by and drink some local wine we purchased and had delivered right to our hotel in only a couple hours. The breakfast was much more than just a continental offering with eggs, sausage, biscuits, etc. The wine and cheese hour was so nice with plenty of light food and wine for the full inn. We mingled with other guests and headed to dinner afterwards. Will definitely return! A++!!

My husband & I just need a overnight get-away and this fit the bill. We have stayed here 3 different times and have enjoyed all of them. We stayed in room 102 (1st floor) is was small but so wonderful!! would definatelty get that room on our next stay. Bed was HEAVENLY, not to mention the sheets and pillows. I wanted to take everything home with me!!!! The wine & cheese social hour 5-6 is great, nice wines and cheese spreads/different cheese, crackers & fruit. Then the breakfast......everything you can imagine from cereal, yogurt to hot item.eggs, bacon, homemade pastries and juices. This is a MUST STAY. even if just for 1 night.

This is my husband and my third stay at Washington house. Lovely, comfortable room, friendly staff and delicious food. It was a great weekend getaway! My only complaint is that there was no wifi service for the entire weekend. When we asked the front desk attendant, her response was that they were doing work in the building which resulted in a service outage. It seems like a service call to the network provider could've been contacted immediately to correct the issue. It was very much an inconvenience as we rely on the internet for things like researching local restaurants and things to do.
5 on April 02, 2014
Beautiful room, friendly staff, fabulous wine hour and immense breakfast. Lots of great art and handy parking and so many perfectly wonderful shops to enjoy in town. Always a great get-away! Have stayed here once a year for nine years!

I have stayed many times at the Washington House Inn, and every time has been a nice experience. Despite decidedly chilly weather, my father and I enjoyed a relaxing mid-week getaway. The beds were especially comfy with a memory-foam topper; the breakfast were varied and satisfying (for vegetarian me and Dad who's not). There is nothing like ending a bone-chilling day with a delicious glass of local wine (try the Cedar Springs Bon Vivant if you like a dry white). Of course, we'll be back.

Loved our stay here, the room was just what we needed to help us get away for a night and relax. The whirlpool tub, fireplace and great decor were the perfect escape. Perfectly situated in downtown Cedarburg, great shops and restaurants in the area.

When we stay at Washington House Inn, we always choose a different room because they are all different with there own touch. We especially enjoy the Jacuzzi rooms so we can relax. The Inn is also next to great shops and the winery so we don't have to drive

We have stayed at the Washington House Inn many times, but usually only for one night at a time. This time we were fortunate enough to stay two nights, due to a February special. The room was warm and cozy, despite the single digit temperatures outside. The bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets were awesome. Fireplace and large in room jacuzzi added to the warm feeling of the room. Breakfast is homemade and wonderful, with different items each day, as well as the staples of fruit, yogurt, granola, etc. The late afternoon wine and cheese is a great welcoming touch. As always, we had a great, relaxing getaway at the Washington House Inn! The staff is always very willing to help you and to offer suggestions for dinner or places to visit. We are looking forward to our next visit to Cedarburg and the Washington a House Inn!
4.2 on March 05, 2014
Great job at maintaining the historical feel of the Inn while providing a very comfortable stay. The food was great and always had a variety of delicious selections. Though the temps outside were in the single digits the whirlpool tub and room were warm and cozy. We enjoyed making aquaintance with other guests during the social hour in the dining room. Planning to visit again.

My first stay at a B&B! I found this to be the most wonderful experience. The amenities were outstanding. Housekeeping wonderful...on day I did not need service, they left a basket filled with towels, coffee, soap, bottled water at my door!! Food was wonderful at breakfast, and I liked having the option of it being delivered to my room. I have traveled quite a bit, and usually there is something that isn't up to par...however, I found NOTHING that was not outstanding.

Thank you Washington House for all that you do.

Stayed at Washington House for our 25th anniversary. The room was incredible! Spacious whirlpool, soft linens. The staff was very helpful, letting us look at some vacant rooms we were interested in for future stays. Even though it was 0 degrees out, we didn't care - we didn't want to leave our comfy room. Already booked another stay.

As always, up to the mark!. Beautiful room in the Schroeder House, exemplary service and help from the front desk. We were meeting a couple from Port Washington for Dinner in Mequon, and they joined us for the wine and cheese social hour, at a very reasonable add-on. We love this place, and will be back again. A great break from Chicago city life, and a beautiful setting.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary in the Hattie Wiesler Room at the Washington House Inn. The room was very comfortable, and I gave it 4 stars only because the loveseat cushion was VERY broken in and because we could hear the crosswalk outside frequently during the day. These did not make our stay unpleasant, but they were noticeable. The public areas were comfortable and clean. The staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant, especially Brenda. Our room was cleaned daily during our stay. The breakfast consisted of more offerings than I expected, changing daily, and was very tasty each morning. Four stars only because there was no option for made-to-order - again, not a problem, but that would have made it outstanding. Coffee and other hot drinks were available throughout the day (a definite plus, since we were there in January). The afternoon wine and cheese hour features local wines, which were quite enjoyable, and a selection of cheese spreads and crackers - a nice touch. The nearby shopping is great for people looking for gifts and souvenirs, as well as excellent coffee, candy, and bakery. The caramel- and chocolate-dipped apples at Amy's (next door) are amazing. It was great to have champagne and an apple waiting for us in our room on our arrival (I believe the champagne was an upgrade from the white wine I requested, which was a very nice gesture). Overall, we were very impressed and had a wonderful experience celebrating our anniversary. We definitely plan to go back!

We have stayed at the Washington House Inn on several occasions. The service is excellent, the rooms are nice and always well cleaned. Although it is a bit more on the expensive side, when you throw in the breakfast (7am-10am daily) and wine and cheese hour (5pm - 6pm every day)it's worth it. I recommend the Inn to anyone looking for a nice relaxing getaway in Cedarburg.

We have always stayed at the Stagecoach Inn, but decided this year to try something different and stayed at Washington House. The room was lovely and spacious. The afternoon wine and cheese gathering was very nice. The breakfast in the morning was exceptional with the most delicious bagels I have every tasted. It was quite a bit more expensive than the Stagecoach Inn, but the food offerings were exceptional. We stayed in room 210, which was very nice. We would stay here again.

Was a getaway before Christmas in historic Cedarburg WI for a retired couple. We have stayed the the Washington House Inn several times before. The staff is ready to make you as comfortable as possible but not in your way. Cedarburg is very historic with small shops and the B & B is right downtown where you can walk to any of the little shops. The evening wine and cheese get together is great for making new friends or quiet time to relax.

Although small, the room we stayed in is well appointed and comfortable. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful and the homemade food is excellent. I have no reservations about recommending this charming B&B to anyone who asks (and those who don't).

We love this quaint town of Cedarburg, WI. We first came through a couple of years ago on our way home from celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary at a B&B in Door County, WI. I also read an article in my Midwest Living magazine; I think the November 2012 issue. It talked about how the town was all decorated for the holidays and that they light the town tree on the Monday after Thanksgiving. I decided then that I would make reservations for us to spend a belated anniversary trip. The weather wasn't so great but we didn't let that stop us from walking the streets and visiting the many shops. We also found the covered bridge this trip and it was so worth it. What a beautiful setting and park. We loved it and will go back again someday.

We've been going to the Washington House Inn in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, for over 25 years and have loved it for all that time. Their included breakfast includes delectable muffins, rolls, cakes, quiche, fresh-squeezed orange juice, flavored oatmeals, etc. You'd pay $15-20 each for a breakfast as good as this at any restaurant in town. They also have a wine and cheese hour each evening in their beautiful dining room. Antique tables, fireplace, the works. We alway stay in one of the "country" rooms. These are the best rooms, in my opinion, in order: 222, 104, 220, 216, 214 and 218. They all have huge whirlpool tubs. And the quaint town of Cedarburg is just outside the front door. Traveling north there's the candy/ice cream store, the candy apple store. Tons of great shops, each with their own feel. Then there's the Cedar Creek Settlement, with several shops located inside an old woolen mill. I sit in a chair in the lobby and read a book while my wife shops. Then we get a crepe and soup at the Crepe and Creamery right by the river. There's a new restaurant (5 years or so) in the old blacksmith shop, called the Anvil. Very cool. There are always special weekend happenings, including art fairs and other special events in Cedarburg. The only downside for us is that we only get there once a year! Caution: The rooms are pricey. But if you sign up for Livingsocial.com, there are deals from time to time. We just bought 2 $89 dollar specials (not for the country rooms. They also have nice Victorian rooms, but the tubs are not as big.) The specials include a treat at the ice cream shop and 2 tickets to a movie at the Rivoli (renovated movie theater just next door to the south).

This was our first visit back to the USA after moving to Italy. We have stayed in a fine B&B in Italy literally hanging over the sea that was expensive. Washington House is even higher, but we are glad we splurged. Probably the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in! Cozy on cold winter days. Very pleasant staff.

We had a wonderful overnight stay at the Washington House Inn. The customer service was fantastic! We felt that they cared about our well being and our entire stay. The inn room was rustic, yet distinguished. We ordered wine and truffles that were beautifully displayed as we arrived. The personal touches were evident. The food served at breakfast was homemade and delicious! We were sorry we missed the wine and cheese hour at 5pm the evening before. The inn was beautifully decorated to reflect the upcoming holiday season. We will definitely be coming back again!

We had a terrific experience at the Washington House Inn. Everything was very comfortable. The staff was INCREDIBLE, very accommodating, and very welcoming. The location was great. Cedarburg is a great little town! If you are going to visit, this is a great place to stay. It is right in the middle of town, so pretty much everything is walkable. The problem is that it is one of only a couple of hotels actually in Cedarburg. The price of our room reflected the convenient location and not the actual quality of the room itself. Our room was really small and "tired" looking, which was bizarre considering the level of service and the extra touches. When we had the "do not disturb" sign showing, they left a really nice basket of fresh towels, bottled water, toiletries, and such outside the door with a happy little note. The room service breakfast was outstanding. No, they do not offer hot food to be delivered, but the homemade pastries were to die for-- like worth going back just for the pastries. The sheets were quite luxurious as well-- so much so that they sell them there. And, of course, bathrobes. Always nice to have when traveling.

Room was very nicely furnished and all amenities worked, ie fireplace, whirlpool tub. Very small shower. The room I was in could use a little updating to the fixtures. All in all a little overpriced.

We had a wonderfull stay. We love staying their.

Our room was a bit smaller than expected, it was a bit warm as well with no option to open windows. We would have loved to use the hot tub bit it was sunk in and too low for my husband to get into without steps or a handle to hang onto. Overall great experience but would choose another room for our next stay.

Our first stay at the Washington House Inn was wonderful! Charming rooms, great breakfast, wine and cheese gathering in the afternoon! Staff was very kind and accommodating. Cedarburg shops were amazing, owners all very friendly. And the wine tasting at the winery was fun. Beautiful fall weekend in a great little community. We've made our reservations for next year!

Whirl Pool Tub too difficult to get in for the older folks [that don't exercise daily].

Beautifully renovated inn provides a feel for its 1800s roots while adding modern amenities. Exposed stone walls, gas fireplaces, ultra comfortable sheets, and jacuzzi provides a wonderfully romantic ambiance. Great value.

Breakfast was outstanding! The room was nice but very small. Cable was out all Sunday morning.

My fiance and I returned, about two weeks ago, from a long weekend in Cedarburg, WI, staying at the Washington House Inn. We have a great overall experience. The hotel is very pretty, and I love how they've kept the structure of the old building intact. We stayed in room 108, which was in the back part of the hotel. While we didn't have the best view, we had a convenient private rear entrance, and two comfortable recliners for relaxing and watching TV. The linens on the king-size bed were great, although the bed was a little too soft for my tastes. But I prefer a firmer mattress, and the quality of the mattress itself was high. We also really enjoyed the expanded continental breakfast, which had a lot of options. There were three small things about the Washington House Inn that we didn't like. First, our bathroom was equipped with a one-person whirlpool bath/shower combo. The shower and tub itself were nice, but the tub was DEEP. I'm 5"7 and in my late 20s, and I was nervous getting in and out of the bath. I can't imagine how any older guests or those with mobility issues would be able to manage. Second, our room did not come with a refrigerator, and from what I could tell, there was not a communal one, although I admit I did not ask the front desk. ( I did see that other rooms came with refrigerators, but they were a little out of our price range.) Eating out for dinner, we usually had leftovers, which we had to leave sitting in our room all night, and we ended up just throwing some away. Third, the dining room on Sat or Sun was so crowded it was hard to maneuver around without asking people to move. But, these things did not take away from our overall enjoyment. If we ever travel up to Cedarburg again, we will definitely stay at the Washington House Inn.

It was a wonderful stay, great rooms with their own unique design. It was so hard to choose but had to take one where we could get 3 night stay and we did. It was the smaller room rm 200 but very cozy. Bathroom a little small but a great whirlpool. They all answered any of our questions. Great relaxed town and to get away from hustle and bustle of home. Recommend to others and family and found out my cousin stayed their so we may do it again with the girls or our hubbies!! Thanks very much for making it GRAND!

A nice small room with steam shower. Wine and Cheese/Snacks is a huge hit for us from 5-6pm. Also, the location in downtown cedarburg and also 2 blocks from a trail we could run on. A perfect one night getaway from the kids and city(milwaukee).

The rooms at the Washington House Inn are great - they're charming without dripping in Victorian florals like so many B&Bs. The sheets are to die for as well. I never wanted to get out of bed. When we arrived we were greeted with complimentary cheese and wine, and then in the morning there was a great breakfast spread as well. Cedarburg is a great little town, with a lot of shops, a sweet little winery, and a few pretty good restaurants. We'll be back for sure!

This is the second time I have stayed at Washington House. It will definitely not be last! Wendy is a warm and very welcoming person, and the staff is wonderful. The breakfast is delicious and I always enjoy "wine hour" when you can mingle and get to know other guests.
5 on October 25, 2013
The Washington House Inn is my favorite get away spot. The staff is welcoming and treat you like you are someone very special. The rooms are comfortable and charming. And the brunch is the best I've ever had, the evening social hour tops off the day. I wish everyone could experience Washington House Inn.

We have stayed at the Washington House Inn several years ago, we forgot how beautiful and elegant the Inn and Cedarburg was. We enjoy the wine and cheese hour both nights, not being pushed out because the hour was up and being able to just mingle around and take in the history of the Inn. The room was fantastic and bed comfortable like home. The history of the little town walking around enjoying the shops and scenery and the Cedarburg Winery has not changed always something to look and buy at Cedarburg. We are planning to go back more often than just for our anniversary. Thank you Washington House Inn for making it a great weekend. We will be back.

We took advantage of a $50 off coupon for Washington Inn and had a wonderful overnight in Cedarburg. It is all decked out for fall as I write this in October, and really delightful. The renovated theatre next-door is such fun to go to, manned entirely by volunteers who had a part in the renovation to its original art deco state. The Cedar Creek Winery tour is amazing...and so it their wine. And you can get wonderful candy at the other Bed and Breakfast in town that has a Beernsten's Candy store...or go to Cafe Du Monde and hope that it is a brownie day...they have the best brownies we have ever tasted! The Inn itself is cozy and so pretty, offers a wonderful wine and cheese hour from 5-6 (with Cedar Creek wine!) and delicious breakfast, both of which are part of the room fee. (Softest, most comfortable sheets we have ever slept on, too!)
3.4 on October 21, 2013
The Washington House is beautifully decorated and the people are wonderful. Breakfast was excellent for a buffet-style. Unfortunately our room was very small and the bathroom needed some updating - appearing a little tired and worn. The mattress was very uncomfortable and the pillows awful.
4.2 on October 19, 2013
We really enjoyed our time in this beautiful bed and breakfast. The staff is very friendly and helpful, which does a lot to make you feel at home. The food is wonderful with the wine and cheese in the evening and a fresh hot breakfast available in the morning. You won't be disappointed if you decide to stay at this charming old historic bed and breakfast. It is such a lovely place!

My daughter and I stayed for the weekend we had a wonderful time. The bed was very comfortable, breakfast and evening treats were excellent!
4.2 on October 18, 2013
The Inn had a very nice (better than expected) breakfast service as well as a "wine & Cheese" happy hour the evening prior that was far better than we ever expected and our room (The Gertrude Schroeder) was absolutely what anyone would expect if they were to picture a quaint Bed & Breakfast! Though I must admit the room amenities were what one would expect in a four star hotel (very nice and updated).
5 on October 18, 2013
My husband and I experienced a great room, food, service and attention to detail. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms on the first floor right off the lobby, but it was comfortable and quiet. Free wifi, flat screen, and whirlpool tub made our stay an exceptional value. The parking lot is small, but there is another lot around the corner. We will definitely return!

I have stayed at the Washington House before and I always enjoy my time there. The rooms are very nice and the breakfast in the morning is great! I always look forward to the homemade coffee cakes and muffins...every time they are different but always SO awesome!

We stayed mid-week in late September at the Washington House. It was very comfortable, quiet and the breakfast was fantastic.
5 on October 13, 2013
I loved every thing about it. Staff looks happy working there. I how they restored the place. The sheets felt like butter not to mention the amazing mattress pad. I love the free water where most places charge an arm and leg if you drink the water on the dresser. The wine and cheese hour was priceless I ended up going down to the winery and buying some favorites. The only other suggestion that would be nice for some people is to have some tasting of the Silver creek brewery for the beer drinkers. The breakfast was beyond words. I even was given the egg casserole recipe that was fantastic. The shopping and, whole area was the icing on the cake. Please dont change a thing. I have recommended your place to so many people. Thank you for everything guys.

We booked this room for our one year wedding anniversary. Stayed in room 210. Loved it! The room was clean, beautiful and decorated so gorgeously. The staff was very helpful, even when we asked where to get ice cream at 8:45 PM. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful vintage hotel and quaint little town and plan on returning soon. Makes for a great short getaway. Fell in love with the duvet cover so much I looked at the tag and will be purchasing it from Pottery Barn this week. The sheets are amazing on the bed and you can purchase them through WHI if you'd like too! They do have rooms with tempurpedic and we didn't request one, which I think we will next time. Although the bed we had was far superior to most hotel mattresses we do sleep on a tempurpedic at home and would probably be more comfortable. The breakfast was amazing just like the reviews said and we even enjoyed hot biscuits and gravy on our second morning. Best hotel breakfast we've ever had. The wine and cheese hour each night was perfect timing because in this town the shops close around five and we usually don't go to dinner until about 7. So this time gave us a chance to reflect on our day and decide where dinner would be that night. I had read in reviews previous to our visit that the tub/shower was hard to get into because it is a whirlpool tub with high walls. I would agree with this but the height is necessary to operate the whirlpool option of the bath. But if you are elderly or handicap this may make showering hard. We loved every minute of our stay and cannot wait to return!

Outstanding breakfasts more than exceeded our expectations. Everyone was friendly, courteous and helpful. Thought (from the website) we'd have a fridge in our room but didn't & were mildly disappointed. Great location, in the heart of downtown Cedarburg--very close to all the shops. We would come again in a heartbeat.

Checked in early and to our surprise our room was available. Wine and cheese reception was a refreshing break on a very hot day. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Wendy and the kitchen staff were outstanding and I enjoyed our friendly chat. Also took home recipes which my family enjoyed. Can't wait to return!

Our experience exceeded our expectations in every way...from the quaint, Victorian atmosphere with beautiful antiques...to the friendly and efficient customer service... to the excellent food. The Continental Breakfast is much more than what anyone could expect in a "Continental Breakfast".....a combination of gourmet dining and downhome mouthwatering homecooking/baking...everything was delicious...to the wine and cheese in the evening..Will definately recommend the hotel and Cedarburg for a wonderful & relaxing get-a-way...and will certainly return for another stay....William Kettlewell

Last week, my husband and I stayed in the Schroeder House - Rm. 1. The room was very inviting and romantic yet home like. My only complaint is that the mattress was way too soft. The food in the dining room was so filling - there was no need to eat lunch anywhere. Love it!!!!!

My husband and I chose the Washington House as the place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and we are glad that we did. There was an issue with the room that we reserved, so the WH upgraded us to a bigger and better room. Room 212 was large and beautifully decorated with a very comfortable king size bed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The WH was very clean and the breakfasts were wonderful. Home made hot dishes and bakery items, plenty of juice, fruit, and breads. The other great part of the WH is that everything that you could want is within walking distance of the Inn, so we did not use our car for two days. More shops and places to eat than we had time or energy to visit, and lovely parks close by to walk through! We highly recommend the WH!

A wonderful evening for a special day. We celebrated our wedding night in room 222. Gorgeous, clean, very large and decorated beautifully! 24 hr front desk service. The night was quiet with no interruptions and we felt very relaxed and "at home". Breakfast was great. Only suggestion would be to request after hours room service available. Spectacular memory!!

Spent 2 nights in the Washington House Inn and enjoyed it very much. Located right in the middle of Cedarburg within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Most pleasant part of stay was morning breakfast and evening wine and cheese served in spacious, comfortable dining room. Selections at each were of exceptional quantity and quality.

We have tried many BandB's over the years and now continue to visit the Washington House Inn every July. They have the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. The room is always incredibly clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. A step back into the past without the discomfort of being in someones home. A quaint old time Inn well worth the $ and repeated visits. All private rooms, quiet halls, nice social and breakfast. Original old stonewalls and beams, all around great place to visit.

Returning to Cedarburg is very special since I grew up in Grafton. The Washington House is full of history as is all of Cedarburg. Great location, close to Milwaukee and golfing in Kohler. Breakfast was absolutely delicious! Front desk was helpful with restaurant recommendations and directions. We will return!

Our stay at the Washington House Inn was just fine. The only thing I didn't care for was the noise from the street that kept me up late into the night! You may have a nicer stay if you request a room on the back side of the building.

We all met in Cedarburg for a "Sisters Weekend". We came from Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. We haven't been able to get together for a sisters weekend in years. I took my friend on a surprise birthday present to this B&B. I thought the pricing was about right for a place like this. I thought the service was a little below average considering the cost of the room. I has taken advantage of some of their promotions for my friend as part of her surprise but has also requested that they call me; the did not. I called them a few days before our arrival because they didn't call me. The person that answered the phone acted like what I had already arranged was enough and acted confused that I would want to do more for my friend...I thought THAT was very strange. I probably won't be back. I have stayed at much nicer and more personable B&B's in Vermont and Colorado.

My husband and I will definitely return to the Washington House Inn. Wonderful customer service. The beds are divine. Yes, I bought the sheets. Did not partake of the happy hour but breakfast was outstanding. Please share the oatmeal cake recipe with me! Our beautiful room was right on the street. Great view for people watching. Everything closes early even in high season so it was quiet as a mouse after 9 p.m. The only caveat is that the tub/shower combo was a little tricky to maneuver for this baby boomer.
5 on July 29, 2013
Even though we live in Cedarburg, we celebrated our anniversary at the Washington House Inn. It's a wonderful B&B. The ambiance is perfect. Not too "country". The rooms are decorated very upscale and tastefully. The linens are amazing! All of the breakfast items are home made and very delicious. We highly recommend this B&B and will continue to go back!

Washington House Inn is definitely one of our favorite getaways! Living just a few hours away, we try to get to the inn several times a year. The location is ideal. We park our car and walk about the historic downtown. No need to start the car again until it is time to head home. In the summer we try for Friday evenings so that we may walk to the park for Summer Sounds. Our time is spent browsing shops, making new friends and a cold beverage at Silver Creek Brewery. Of course we can't leave for home before stopping at the bakery across the street and Amy's for some of the best chocolate around. Staying at the inn feels like staying with family. The rooms are beautiful and extremely comfortable. I can hardly wait for our next stay!

Our stay was very pleasant. Stayed for one night. Lovely wine and cheese social hour and very good breakfast. Of course, the main attraction is the inn itself, historic and cozy. We stayed on one of the more rustic rooms, the Leopold Jochem room, which we very much enjoyed. Rustic in decor, but with central HVAC and a ceiling fan, not too mention the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. We're very much looking forward to staying at the Washington House Inn again.

Nice wine and cheese reception in the evening and good breakfast in the mornings. Would definitely go back.

Breakfast includes elaborate pastries prepared by the Inn's baker and are delicious. 5-6 every day they provide complimentary wine from the local winery and cheese and sausage. Dining room is beautiful with tin ceiling. Great value, with spacious rooms with whirplools. Every member of the staff is friendly and helpful with directions, reservations, and info on things to do.

This was my first time in Cedarburg and it certainly will not be my last. The Washington House Inn is the place to stay. The staff are extremely friendly. The Inn is very homey and welcoming. The room we stayed in was great and the best part is the air conditioning works great. The weekend we stayed was very hot and humid and after many hours of walking and sweltering in the sun we came back to our room and cooled down. It did not take long because the air conditioning is awesome. We plan to go back a bit later in the year and stay in another room. I rate this 5 stars!!

The Washington House Inn was highly recommended to us, and it did not disappoint. We were looking for a charming and unique anniversary experience. We chose one of the larger 2 story suites and we found it quite enjoyable. Our bottle of champagne that we ordered when we reserved the room was chilled and waiting for us upon our arrival. When we reserved this suite, we were able to get a discount because we were from out of state. This was a nice treat as well. The welcoming Wisconsin hospitality did not disappoint. I highly recommend this Inn. Can't wait to return, when the weather turns cooler so we can take advantage of the two fireplaces. Kudos on a job well done and thanks for making this anniversary to memorable.

We stayed over Strawberry Fest weekend. The room was what we expected, was clean, and comfortable. We did not anticipate problems parking. Even though the lots had signs posted for Washington Inn customers, no one enforced parking restrictions. There we were checking in and had to haul luggage from two lots over. Also found out when we arrived if we had found parking the Schroeder House lot we would be blocked in for the entire festival.

We were so excited to return to the Washington House Inn. We came last year for the wedding of our neice and we were so happy with the accomdations, service and outstanding breakfasts! When we had the opportunity to come back this year we jumped at the chance and brought my parents with us! We all enjoyed our getaway and are looking forward to returning again. It is an awesome place to relax and recharge with plenty of things to do and see nearby. Thank you for your great detail to service, cleanliness and comfort!!

The only way to visit Cedarburg, WI is by staying at the Washington House Inn. It is in the center of town, so everything is within walking distance. The old elegance of the Inn is intact and is blended perfectly with modern amenities. Everyone connected with the Inn was courteous and helpful. The breakfast offering was amazing with many tasty choices that were unlimited in quantity, and the afternoon social was also wonderful and fun. I look forward to returning to the Inn in the future!

I recently stayed at the Washington House Inn in Cedarburg to attend a high school reunion. Cedarburg is always a fun place to be and the Inn is quaint and the people there are helpful and friendly. I especially like the fact that the dining room is available at all hours and often with free food. Some friends and I were able to gather there in the afternoon and look at old yearbooks, while drinking wine and munching on cheese and crackers.

This was our second stay and we will return in about a month for a couple more days. THe rooms are beautiful and comfortable, and the shower was incredible! The breakfast buffet is filled with delights.

This was my second time here. Love the decor, the staff was very friendly, informative and helpful. The afternoon wine and cheese get together was delightful. The wines were good and the snacks tasty. A great way to start out our evening. The morning breakfast was delicious. Will definitely be returning in the future.

The Washington House Inn just does everything right. We have stayed there many times and we're always impressed.
5 on June 03, 2013
We received a gift certificate to the Washington House as a Christmas gift. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Was surprised at the size of the property. We were expecting an old house that had been turned into a B&B. Breakfast was so good and we had plenty of time to sit and relax in the dining room while reading and enjoying our coffee after breakfast.

We've stayed at the Inn many times and never have I found ONE thing to complain about!! Not one! It's perfection! Comfortable, quiet, quaint, warm, friendly, Don't miss it...go and stay 'just because!'

In the fall of 2012 and again in May, 2013, I thoroughly enjoyed my stays at the Washington House Inn in Cedarburg, WI. The Inn is lovely, with period furnishings and details, offering high-end, comfort in bedding and bath. The Innkeeper and her staff are knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and - just plain 'nice'. Add to that the great early evening social hour and 'fantabulous', homemade breakfasts and you have a winning experience. Situated smack-dab in the middle of one of the most-coveted places to live in suburban Milwaukee, Cedarburg is a treasure trove of interesting shops, restaurants, coffee houses and entertainment. I look forward to my next stay...

We are repeat visitors to the Washington House Inn & for the last few times have stayed in the Edward Blank room. We like the jacuzzi tub & the nice soft robes. The people are very nice & helpful & the wine & cheese get together is great. Totally recommend.

Staying in the Gertrude Schroeder room was pure joy! The sun room was a wonderful place to relax in the morning with a cup of coffee or in the evening after soaking in the whirlpool. The staff at Washington House Inn made us feel like a part of their family. Thank you for giving us some very nice memories.

Excellent, professional and friendly service in an authentic, historic inn. Unusual and historic room with exposed brick work, exposed beams and strong old wood floors. Windows in room openable with screens. Nice dining room with lots of tables so you can sit with your own party. Wine/snack hour with local wines. Hot and cold serve-yourself breakfast to have at your convenience during a 3-hour time slot. Very friendly and professional staff. Coffee/tea and yummy water with fruit slices available all day. Loved our stay in this inn and this lovely, historic town. Our only suggestion is to request a room facing the front---since we opened our windows, it was noisy in our room facing the back due to a mechanical unit cycling on and off all night and trash being dumped (?) into bins just below our windows.

This was our second visit to the Washington House Inn, and we were once again thrilled with the entire experience. We stayed in Schroeder #3 and were very pleased with the jetted tub and fireplace next to the bed. The room was so comfortable, we had to force ourselves to leave in order to explore the town. We had dinner at the Anvil, and a late night snack at the ice cream shop next door (both were fantastic). We highly recommend Washington House and will return again in the future!

Washington House Inn greatly impressed us, with its character, diversity of rooms, creativity. We went for roughly a week, were able to have a wonderful set of two meals, especially the breakfast and evening wine and cheese. The artistic nature of Cedarburg showed in the staff, as well as in the historic decor of the Inn. I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone as a fantastic deal.

We were only able to stay one night at the Inn, but it was a very nice experience. The wine social hour was great and the breakfast was fantastic! My girlfriend and I had visited Cedarburg, WI a couple of times and had longed to stay at the beautiful Washington House Inn, as we are both very much into historic Americana. Our chance finally came recently when one of her friends was having a wedding reception not far from Cedarburg. We were more than pleasantly surprised at the beauty of our room (and the entirety of the inn), the friendliness of the staff, and the size and variety of items offered at the continental breakfast - even after having high hopes for the inn to start. We definitely hope to stay again.

We have been frequenting WHI for about 25 years. It is definitely our favorite getaway place. Wendy and her staff are very accommodating and are always there to help. This isn't your typical B&B...if you haven't been there, give it a try - we're sure you will enjoy it. Bill and Sue

We enjoyed a wonderful stay, comfy and cozy during the snow storm. Room was immaculet, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast was superb! Wine and cheese hour in the gathering room was delightful after a day of walking around town. So convenient to everything. We parked our car when we arrived and walked everywhere we wanted to go.

Our first scheduled stay at the Washington House had to be cancelled due to the weather with only a 12 hr. notice but despite the policy for 48 hrs. the innkeeper was very understanding and cancelled our stay ww/o charge. We rescheduled 2 weeks later, this time for 2 nights. It was a grand experience! The rooms are old, of course but very clean. The staff, without exception, were so friendly and helpful. The wine and cheese social hour was great fun with delicious wine & cheeses. And the breakfasts, served "hidden" buffet style were wonderful-homemade everything. The buffet was nestled among the antiques in various locations in the dining area. All in all, it was a fantastic experience and we will go back and recommend it highly!

My wife and I were doing remodeling at our home. On short notice the contractors indicated we would have to find other lodging to complete their work. We registered at the inn in one of the ;large suites. It was very luxurious,The size of a small apartment. It was very romantic and homey with 2 fireplaces.. The breakfasts were excellent and plentiful. The wine and cheese servings in the evening was very nice and and relaxing.

My wife and I were upgraded to a larger suite at no extra cost due to damage to our reserved room. It made for a comfortable stay during some nasty weather in Cedarburg. The staff was friendly and breakfast was wonderful. Our only concern was the somewhat cramped parking.
4.4 on February 08, 2013
A wonderful place to get away from the city. Well located for outdoors stuff, such as biking or x-country skiing, with an interesting town to wander too. Dinning options are what you would hope to find in Wisconsin, with a nice variety. Hotel breakfast is a good start to the day, lunch & dinner within easy walking distance. A wonderful place in its own right, and well located too.

Everyone is so nice, beds are comfortable, rooms relaxing, very clean, feel very pampered. Wine and Cheese at night is awesome - nice to try some different wines in the area. Breakfast is always outstanding. We have been coming here for 7 years and love it and we are always looking forward to our next stay in Cedarburg.

We stayed on a weekend when the Washington House was sold out of rooms. You wouldn't have known it by the minimal traffic in the hallways or common areas. The most comfortable beds I have slept in and so QUIET! We didn't hear anyone when we were in our room or when we were sleeping and I am a VERY light sleeper. The only reason I knew the weekend was was sold out was because I tried to book a room for my sister online and there were no more rooms available. The continental breakfast was delicious with some unique items and a good variety. Accommodating and friendly service even when we checked in at 10:00 at night.

We stayed for one night as a late anniversary celebration. We have stayed here several times in different rooms and have always enjoyed our time there. The rooms are always spotless and welcoming. The variety and uniqueness of each room is really nice. The breakfast is delicious especially the breakfast casserole!

We had been to the Washington House Inn before, but it has been a few years. It was delightful to be back, from the friendly greeting when we arrived, the relaxed time with wine and cheese and a delicious breakfast. But best of all, of course, was the room. Comfortable, with character, a warm place on a cold night. It was just what we were looking for. Phil Haslanger & Ellen Reuter

We spent our weddingnight at the Inn in 1985 and hadn't been back since so decided it was time. We found the accomodations to be excellent and the evening wine and cheese gathering as well as the breakfast to be superior. We were not disappointed in the least even though we expected to be in the main building and found ourselves in the SH. It was very quiet and had excellent accomodations.

This is a very charming inn in a pretty, historic, small town just north of Milwaukee. The shops are unique and interesting and the buildings are well maintained with original stone. There are several places to eat including an excellent bakery, wonderful coffee shops, candy stores, cafes and restaurants. My husband and I had a wonderful stay and plan to return soon.

Everything about The Washington House was wonderful! It is the second time we have stayed there. The special Fireplace Promotion made this weekend affordable and possible. Our only complaints happen to be beyond The Washington House's control...The town of Cedarburg has installed loud beepers or recordings on the traffic lights at crosswalks which can be heard in the rooms facing the road as ours was. It was disturbing and we hope the town will reconsider their use. The other was that the local restaurants seem to be closed on Sunday and Monday which made eating out difficult. We called a friend who lives in Milwaukee and got a recommendation for a great restaurant that fortunately was worth the drive into the city. Other than that, Cedarburg is a lovely town which we enjoy and The Washington house is "Top Notch"!

This was our 2nd time at the Washington House Inn, and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. The wine and cheese hour is a great way to unwind while deciding where to go for dinner. The breakfast is delicious with many choices; fruit, cereal, croissants, egg and sausage casserole, yogurt parfait, coffee, tea, juice. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The linens are outstanding, the beds very comfortable. Located in a quaint, historic town with a winery, shops, theater, and several restaurants.

We have been going to the Washington House for the last several years and once again we had a great stay. We love the wine and cheeze in the afternoon and the breakfeast in the morning is wonderful.

We stayed here to ceIebrate our 27th anniversary and really enjoyed ourselves. The Quade room was exactly as it was depicted in the picture. It has a separate entrance and you have to go outside from the lobby to reach it, which was a bit inconvenient due to the inclement weather. It is an old building and you could easily hear the people upstairs walking around, but the room was beautiful and didn't at all reflect the age of the building. The wine and cheese was very enjoyable in the afternoon. And the breakfast was outstanding - very generous, a lot of homemade selections, all of them very tasty! We are from California and my wife left a prescription behind. When we arrived home, we received a phone call from the Inn that they found the prescription and they offered to promptly mail it home to us.

great b&b. couple of small criticisms: - the hallways have a very weird must/old/food smell - the rooms dont have any climate control whatsoever. it was pretty warm in ours, and the suggestion was to simply turn off the fan that blows the central heat and hope for the best. other than that, beautiful, wonderful trip!

The atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming. The food was tasty and very well made. The room was cozy with a great view. The only problem was the lack of air flow throughout the room. One shower heated up the room quite a bit, and it stayed that way. Definitely will go back again!

Was happy with the room upstairs and downstairs. The bathroom could be more updated. Offering bottled water was a very nice touch as we were parched after a long drive. For the price, it would have been nice to have a hot breakfast included. We ended up having to go to a restaurant instead as the offerings were not anything impressive. We were very happy they were able to check us in early as the room was available. I would have also liked to be given more info about the town and a map. They weren't very aware about the Oktoberfest.

Our kids gave us a gift certificate to the Washington House Inn last Christmas. We decided fall would be a good time to go . . . and it was fabulous! We stayed 3 nights and had a wonderful weekend. Our only complaint was the dining room breakfast service. The room is very cramed with tables and chairs and hard to move around to get back and forth to the buffet. It would help if the servers came around to pour coffee refills. The noise from the kitchen was very distracting because the door is open and right outside the dinning room. Clanging and banging noises from kitchen clean-up went on throughout the breakfast hour. I asked one of the staff to close off the door and received a very sour response. Other than that, the food was good. Still did not enjoy paying over $200.00 a night for a noisy banging breakfast. Our room was lovely and quiet.
4.4 on October 08, 2012
The very best thing about the Washington House (yes, even better than the quaint surroundings, the gorgeous but comfortable room, and the reasonable price) is the option to have a (delightful, filling—and included in the room rate) breakfast tray delivered to your door. If you love the romance and warmth of a B&B but loathe making small talk with strangers at 8 in the morning, this is the place for you.
3.4 on October 04, 2012
The hotel was nice and friendly, and where they offered food, it was good - wine and cheese hour and breakfast, but overall it was way over priced for what it was. Maybe we just are not into the half rustic half modern look. The rooms were quiet and very clean, but window closings didn't work. The room should have been priced at 1/2 of what it was to get all 5's from us. The options in Cedarburg seem to be limited.

Our stay at the Washington House Inn was lovely! The best parts of the stay were the cute rooms, large whirlpool bath, wine and cheese social hour, fireplace, and the breakfast in bed. It was a perfect place to stay for my husband and I on our first anniversary. We hope to come stay again soon...the downtown area is so wonderful to be close to. We love the fall weather and strolling around with a coffee, and the cedar creek winery tour.
3.4 on September 25, 2012
We stayed in one of the more expensive rooms, a beautiful one at that. However, the price just wasn't warranted and next time we would stay in one of the lower priced rooms. All in all it was a pleasant stay except for the fact that it dropped into the thirties at night and there was no heat. The room was chilly and not very comfortable. I inquired at the desk and was told that they don't turn on the heat until the daytime temperature is below 50 because the hotel heats up and becomes uncomfortable. So, if you do say during the fall be prepared for a chilly room. You can however request a space heater, something we didn't know about. The breakfast was substandard, I liken it to a deluxe Holiday Inn Express buffet. No kidding, they could do better and should. There was one hot item, a egg casserole. Other than that it was the usual continental breakfast - cold cereal, pastries, bread, bagels, and fruit. Hot oatmeal would have been welcome along with other hot entrees. I mean this is a Bed and Breakfast, right? So do it up a bit for breakfast. All in all though it is a fine establishment with great service in a charming town with a bike path close by. Just go for the less expensive rooms and don't expect much of a breakfast. And remember the space heater.

I went to Cedarburg to do the Volksmarch that begins there and thought staying at the same place would be convenient. It is was more than convenient -- it was wonderful. I enjoyed everything about the bed and breakfast. All staff work to make everyone's stay pleasant. My room was lovely and the view outside was great. I enjoyed both the breakfast in the morning -- good food and very nice variety -- and the social hour in the evening.

Really enjoyable stay including the alteration in breakfast arrangements when the inn was having the carpets cleaned in the dining room. We sat outside at the bistro tables by the entrance and under the cover of the entry overhang. The staff, even in the midst of cleaning all chairs and tables and furniture in the dining room , took very good care of us!

My now-husband and I stayed at the Washington House Inn the night of our wedding, which was a few miles away in Cedarburg. We arrived quite late after the reception, but the person working at the desk was lovely and helpful. Check in was smooth and easy, and he brought us some toothrushes and other items we'd forgotten. The room itself was lovely, clean and beautiful. We left relatively early the next morning since we had a brunch to get to--didn't have breakfast at the Inn so can't comment on the food. Check out was also very easy. All in all, it was delightful.

My friends and I came up to Cedarburg for a 'girls weekend' and we were utterly charmed by the Washington House. Although we arrived after the 'wine and cheese hour' was scheduled, they kept it open for us. The quality of the offerings was lovely, and the room was bigger and more comfortable than I had expected for four people. In the morning, breakfast was well enjoyed by all of us, and we are somewhat picky. When we stayed at a namebrand hotel we opted not to eat their breakfast even tho it was free. The Washington House exceeded expectations in every way. As soon as we arrived I was texting my husband that we need to plan a weekend for ourselves to go there, soon.

Lots of shops to walk through, but less restaurants than the last time we stayed. Still a wonderful area to visit. The whirlpool in our room was awesome.

My wife and I stayed in a 2-room suite #218. The rooms were rustic, yet clean. The king size bed was very comforable the two nights we stayed. The morning breakfast served was one of the best we have ever had...especially where breakfasts are included! The staff was very courtious and pleasant. The central location in downtown Cedarburg was not only convient, but also made one feel a part of the "Cedarburg experience". I would recommend staying at the Washington House Inn if you are looking for a place with the rustic charm of days gone by.

This restored brick building is a splendid B & B. Each room is unique and loaded with amenities. The Hattie Wiesler room on the second floor was very quiet. Furnishings included a double whirlpool tub and a fireplace. No view from the window but walking trips around the town lead us to interesting shopping and wonderful sightseeing. Breakfast buffet and snacks with complimentary wine were especially nice.

The Washington House inn is a lovely inn in a quaint and charming town. The wine and cheese social hour and buffet breakfast were wonderful! Our group appreciated having a place to visit at leisure in a warm and cozy environment.

The Washington House was a pleasant surprise from every aspect. Rooms are unique with an old school elegance. Staff friendly and helpful with recommending a place for dinner. Always had coffee, tea, and pastries out for guests. Wine and cheese sampling hour provided, a nice, laid back pre-dinner activity. Very much looking forward to visiting again.

Our stay at the Washington House Inn exceeded our expectations! It was a last minute decision on where to celebrate our anniversary and was one of the best decisions ever. The online booking was extremely easy upon arrival the Inn was even better than the website photos suggested. The whirlpool and fireplace were fantastic for our romantic getaway and we thoroughly loved our stay. The staff were outstanding and the Inn's location in Cedarburg makes it THE place to stay. We'll definitely be back!

My wife and I went to The Washington House Inn to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. We could not have choen a better place! From the comfort and decor of our room and the common areas of the inn to the fabulous breakfast every morning and the helpful/serving staff we were very pleased all the way around. We also loved the Cedarburg atmosphere. Not too big but with enough dining choices, etc., and so close to Milwaukee We will return for another visit, without a doubt!

We were very surprised to have been given an upgrade to a room with a hot tub. It was great fun.
4.8 on August 12, 2012
The breakfast is a FULL breakfast as we were expecting the usual Motel 6 continental type. Close to our favorite bar in all of Packerland. One problem is that it is too close to an ice cream and taffy apple shop. Employees were outstanding.

The Washington House Inn is a charming, beautiful B & B. It is a relaxing retreat with beautiful rooms many of which have large whirlpool baths. The wine and cheese reception in the evening is such a nice little extra allowing you to unwind and relax. The morning continental breakfast provides delicious homemade breads, cakes and other tasty offerings. The staff are inviting and friendly and always available to offer assistance. It's an annual retreat for me and husband. We just love it!

We stayed in the Schroeder Guest House at Washington House Inn. The room was nicely laid out, beautifully decorated, very clean and mostly very quiet. It was located in the main street side of the building which meant there were a few late Saturday night motorcyclist who woke my husband but not me. The breakfast in the Washington House Inn had a very nice selection of food set out buffet style. We would definitely stay here again.

This was a wonderful bed and breakfast. The package deal that they offered was out of this world! It made our anniversary wonderful!!

Room was outstanding - best bed and sheets EVER! Room was spacious and very clean. Had asked for extra sheets for the sofa bed and housekeeping provided above and beyond ample towels, sheets, pillows, blankets. Service at reception was good - nothing exceptional but nothing negative. Breakfast was tasty and fresh - nice selection of pastries. Over all a very pleasant stay at the Washington House Inn.

Beds were extremely comfortable, service was perfect. Bathroom could have been cleaner, but otherwise a pleasant stay. Loved the scones!
3.8 on July 23, 2012
We were very happy with Washington house. Loved the room, it was unique, very clean, smelled wonderful, whirlpool was spotless which is always a concern of mine. We enjoyed meeting the other guests, the breakfast and the staff were all very friendly. The town is delightful to explore. The entire weekend package could not have been better with one minor exception. We ordered the champaigne option and just as they promised it was waiting and chilled when we arrived which was fantastic, however neither of us finished even our first glass as we didn't care for their choice of champaign at all. It puckered the face : ). We would recommend this for anyone looking for a get away and have in fact already recommneded it to many friends!
5 on July 23, 2012
The Washington Inn was fabulous!!! The room was beautiful and cozy. But the most wonderful part of our stay ws the staff. We checked in with Kate, and the room we had booked wasn't going to work for us, Kate went above and beyond to make sure we got into a room that fit our needs. She was fantastic to us! The breakfast was beyond what we expected. I would stay here in a minute, and probably will. If there was one draw back it was the street noise, as our room was right along Washington Ave..
5 on July 22, 2012
I grew up in Cedarburg but never stepped foot in the Washington House Inn. On a recent trip back I chose this Inn for my wife and I. It was fantastic! The room was charming and romantic, the service was great, and the food was excellent. What makes this especially worth the while is it is located in the center of town. There is no need to drive anywhere, which comes in handy late at night.... We will stay at the Washington House Inn on our visits from now on!
3.4 on July 21, 2012
From the moment we arrived, I felt a sense of peace because Cedarburg is such a beautiful town. I feel as though I've stepped back in time. A time when life was much more simple, there wasn't all the hustle and bustle. But then, we opened our door to enter the John Roth suite and it took my breath away. It was more beautiful than the pictures we had seen online. I would reccomend this room to anyone, it was simply beautiful. Great job!

My wife and I spent one night at The Washington House Inn last weekend. It is a charming and quiet spot in downtown Cedarburg. We felt welcome and the staff was helpful in finding our way around town and planning dinner. We stayed in room 305 and we liked the king bed and double headed shower. We were right next to the elevator, but we never heard it. The bed and sheets were really comfortable. We both had a great night of sleep. We wandered Cedarburg and enjoyed tasting wine at the winery and poking through some of the shops downtown. There is easily a day's worth of stuff to see, wine to drink and food to eat in downtown Cedarburg. The Inn's wine and cheese happy hour was a nice way to start the evening. While the breakfast cakes and muffins were good, we needed something a bit more hearty and headed to a diner just two blocks away. The only thing to make us hesitate to return was the price of the room. Our room was $215 plus $20 in taxes. While we originally bought an online deal through Living Social, we didn't use the deal before it expired and ended up paying the full price for a room. While we might head back to The Washington House Inn someday, we might alternatively decide to save money and stay in downtown Milwaukee next time. In summary, I highly recommend The Washington House Inn, but I felt that it was a little bit expensive.
5 on July 08, 2012
Wonderful breakfast includes 4 - 6 homemade bakery items, hot dish, cereal, fruit, bread, juices, yogurt, hard boiled eggs. Plenty to fill anyone up. The Wine and Cheese hour includes many wines, crackers, cheeses, grapes, and other munchies. Very nice stay, great town, relaxing with many things to do. Recommend Cedarburg and the Washington House Inn to anyone.

We have had the pleasure of visiting many Inns over the years and when we need a quick retreat Washington House Inn has become one of our favorites! All the breakfast selections are very tasty and homemade. One of my biggest complaints when visiting an Inn is that the breakfasts are too large. Having this bountiful buffet is much to our liking being able to take the right portion that suits your needs. The rooms are always comfortable and you are not lacking of any needs within your room. Staff is always attentive and willing to make your stay a memorable one. Please give the Inn a chance on your next visit! You won't be disappointed with this gem!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for the Memorial Day Weekend, and had the most wonderful time. We rode our bikes to Port Washington on the Interurban Trail, walked around the Maxwell Street Days market, toured the Pioneer Museum, visited the local Cedarburg shops, became locals at the great sandwich place next door, and even got to see the Memorial Day Parade (which passed right in front of the inn!). The breakfast was fresh, ample and delicious, and the room was spacious, yet cozy and romantic. It was a perfect way to get the warmth of a B&B and the lovely small town environment while still having modern and luxurious amenities. Come visit the Washington Inn House. You will not be disappointed. We will certainly be back!

Washington House Inn has been a favorite of ours for many years. It's always comfy & cozy. The staff are warm and helpful with any questions you might have. The cleanliness has always been spot on, which matters to me if I'm going to be sitting in an in-room whirlpool bath. The rooms we've stayed in have been maintained quite well. However, the single whirlpool bath in this room did show a quite bit of wear to the finish on the metal parts. Over all it was still a very relaxing visit.
4.8 on May 23, 2012
My wife and I chose the Washington House Inn to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary and what we found was amazing. The room was quaint, relaxing and inviting. The location was great for seeing beautiful downtown Cedarburg by foot. The cuisine both at the wine and cheese pre-dinner snack and the morning brunch had that home-made deliciousness unlike anything offered by a hotel.
2.2 on May 21, 2012
The Washington House Inn was beautifully decorated and the staff was great. It was also a great location. The bed was extremely hard which made our backs hurt until we used some decorative pillows the second night. If you stay on the 1st or 2nd floors, you will hear the guests above you with every step they take. If you are a light sleeper like me you will not be able to sleep well. The jets in the whirlpool tub appeared rusty so we did not use it. The tub is so deep so if you are shorter than 5'5", good luck stepping into it. I am that height and I was fearful of falling. There was lime build up on the bathroom faucet as well. The cheese and wine social hour was nice but they only had cheese spread. I was hoping for actual cheese being in Wisconsin! For our experience it was not worth the money we spent. We did have a fabulous time n Cedarburg though!
4.4 on May 15, 2012
A well maintained historic building with modern amenities. Well appointed decor and special touches, All the staff were friendly and helpful. A great location to see the historic parts and shops of Cedarburg. The rooms with the exposed brick walls were very cool. Loved our one night stay there, would stay again if need to be in Cedarburg.
4.6 on May 07, 2012
Rooms - Our room was extremely comfortable, the bed was more large enough for my tall husband and gave me room to stretch out as well. The hot tub felt wonderful after a day of shopping in Milwaukee and wine tasting. We have stayed in this room before but still a pleasure and very enjoyable. Service - Very friendly and even though the credit card machine had troubles when we left I had no doubt in my mind knowing that everything would be taken care of. Value - Because my husband and I come back year after year we knew what to expect, the price is always fair and we plan on returning again and again. Cleanliness - Exceptionally clean, it's like mom has been there! Dining - Breakfast is awesome! It is one of my favorite things about staying at the Washington House. The wine and cheese in the afternoon, just an added bonus and wonderful touch! Thank you again for another wonderful stay! See you next year!

a great place! The breakfast was better than most continental breakfasts at other locations.
4.8 on April 07, 2012
Although some of the rooms can be rather small, the decorum and style of the building fit into the small town experience that we fell in love with! We opted for one of the suites that had a jacuzzi tub and living space, and high vaulted ceilings. The wonderful check-in host gave us suggestions for later evening dining, and the breakfast was worth staying at the b&b most of the morning. We will most definitely stay here again!

Our tow day stay was a joy for us. On arrival we were met by the friendly staff who were more than helpful. We forgot our toothbrushes and they were kind enough to gives us two from their supply closet in addition to letting us polish off a bottle of wine from the complimentary cheese and wine social that takes place every night. The guest house was charming and reminded me of England. The decor was not tacky or twee but very in-keeping with the tradition of the building. The room was superb; a great size, clean and warm. The sheets were unbelievable and it was a nice touch to be able to buy them. Most places have scratchy sheets but these were perfect. My wife and enjoyed the free dvd library and took advantage of the amenities. We would recommend the Anvil as the place to eat; cheap but delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere. The gem of our time was the discovery of a micro brewery around the corner from the Inn. We went in and were met with a goldmine of a pub. We were there for an hour and when we left we were met with 4 inches of snow - a perfect night. All in all it was a great couple of days away. Reasonably priced, comfortable, pleasant, heartily recommended!

From the moment you arrive at the Washington House Inn you know it's going to be a wonderful experience. From the vintage decor to the friendly staff it's five star all the way. Be sure to attend the wine and cheese social in the evening, and sample some local wine and share your day's adventure with other guests. While they will bring breakfast to you in your room, I HIGHLY recommend having it in the gathering room, not only is the selection better, but it adds to the experience. The breakfast is all home made right there in the kitchen and is just like grandma used to make!

This was our second stay at the Washington Inn. We bought a nice package thru living social that included movie tickets, winery tour and a gourmet taffy apple. The movie tickets and winery tour tickets do not expire so we will be using those during a future visit as I am sure we will return. We love the wine and cheese tasting hour and their breakfast is always like going to Grandma's after church. My on wish is that they would offer a vegetarian egg dish. Always an enjoyable and relaxing experience.

Second stay for us. The first stay we used a Groupon and enjoyed it enough to come back. Enjoyed the wine & cheese evening and the unusually good dining room breakfast in the morning. Plus, our room on the lower floor had an exit on one side that led outside to within a few steps of the dining area, and an exit on the other side to the parking and street areas. Very cozy, very happy.

As we drove away from the Washington House Inn, my wife started to fill out the Inn's comment card and asked me about the first item. I interrupted her and said "just rate every category Excellent". That's the best way to describe our stay at the Washington House Inn: "excellent in every way".

we have stayed at the washington house, a bunch of times, and will continue to do so, but.......when we came down for breakfast at approx. 9:30, any hot food that had been served was gone, and no one offered to make more. also, when we walked back through the lobby an hour or so, later, many of the staff were sitting in the dining room eating what i think should have been my breakfast.
We regret that we ran out of a breakfast item prior to the end of our breakfast service. We do hope you enjoyed the other selections on our "expanded continental breakfast buffet" that morning. Those included: Banana Cake, Crumb Cake, Maple Scones, Cranberry Scones, yogurts, organic hard boiled eggs, fresh strawberries and pineapple, a selection of artisan breads for toasting, an assortment of cereals, and granolas, fresh squeezed orange juice, as well as tomato and cranberry juice, and of course our coffee and tea choices. We do extend an invitation to our staff to enjoy any items that remain after our guests have been served, and our breakfast (7AM-10AM) ends. We are delighted you have stayed with us prior to your past visit, and plan to stay with us again in the future. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Staying at the Washington Inn has become a tradition for my wife and I during the Christmas holiday. It provides a chance for us to get a little time by ourselves during the hustle and bussle of the holiday season. Cedarburg has a lot to offer during the holidays and the Washington Inn really makes the experience special. The historical character of the Inn is great and festive. The rooms are impecably maintained and provide everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The evening wine and cheese party and the hearty breakfast offer a nice upgrade over most B&Bs. The rooms at Washington House Inn are genuinely old but nicely appointed, with a soft terry robe, thirsty towels, sumptuous pillows and thick bed coverings. I especially enjoyed the steam shower (what a treat after a chilly day)! I expected an excellent breakfast, and it was- look out for the yummy souffles. Wine and cheese in the evening is an extra bonus, and the Vidalia dip is not to be passed on. Last but not least is the local shopping, with fair prices and a nice selection in many small shops. Cedarburg rocks!

We wanted to celebrate our wedding night somewhere special and different. We certainly found our place!! Our room was very clean and beautiful. We enjoyed the wine tasting hour and the breakfast was wonderful too! Cedarburg is a lovely town to explore and the shopping is great. A very positive experience for our first visit to a B&B! Already planning the next trip and this time we are hoping to bring friends! Thanks for making such a special day even more memorable!!

Breakfast was spectacular. We stayed at the Schroeder Guest House in Room 1. We found our room to be spacious, clean, and comfortable. The whirlpool bath tub was delightful. We plan on staying there during future trips to Milwaukee.

What a fabulous place to stay! We chose the Gertrude Schroeder room (SH1) which is part of the Guest House. The 'private' (not really, but it felt private to us) garden right out side our door was a great place to relax and have a glass of wine. The room was absolutly charming with a modern whirlpool tub and stand up shower. I only wish we had more time to stay!

We have been staying at the Washington House for quite a number of years and they only seem to get better. The facility and rooms are consistently clean and everything is so well maintained - fresh paint and clean tile in evidence everywhere. Room #212 is extremely nice for a special or longer stay. They breakfast has improved over the last couple of years due to them consistenly offer more protein food options. As always, everything is homemade and delicious. We highly recommend a stay or many stays at the Washington House.

My husband and I took a mini-honeymoon here for three days and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! The service was inpectable-very timely and considerate. The dining was fantastic, an arrray of options at every breakfast! Washington House Inn was extremely clean and the staff were very helpful in whatever we needed. We would recommmend this bed and breakfast to anyone!

The W.H.I. has been my husband's and my retreat for 19 years now. Each time we come it's like the first time. The Inn is quaint with each room having it's own special uniqueness. The staff is so welcoming it feels like we're family. Breakfast is so good and fresh and even delivered to your room if you so choose! The Inn is in the middle of town where you can walk to so many interesting shops. There is an old movie theatre next door, a wonderful little bar down the block with excellent dinners, a nice park with a creek to sit by and just relax (maybe with a bottle of wine and cheese, etc)....what fun and romance can be had here!! Walk to the Cedarburg winery/shops. The Inn offers rooms with a fireplace, jacuzzis and even lofts (we like the room with the loft...where we have our breakfast)!! This is one, if not the best B&B we have stayed at. Give it a try and I'll bet you'll want to come back over and over again. It is like a little slice of heaven!!!

We were pleased to take advantage of the special April room rate received via email, that got us $30 off of our room in the Schroeder Guest House. This is our 3rd stay at the Washington House Inn, and we will definitely be returning in the Fall. This time we stayed in room #3, Adeline Lehman. The room size was good, but having stayed previously in #4, Ida Kuether, I prefer #4. The door to the room in #3 is fairly close to the bed, and I think there is less privacy because of that. #4 was much more open and private. The over-sized hot tub fits two very nicely, and the bathroom was ample in size and spotlessly clean. The staff, as usual, was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. 5-6 is a free wine and appetizer hour, which we always take advantage of, and the breakfast is fantastic. Great, fresh, home-cooked meals, a variety of delicious baked goods, fresh juices, yogurts, etc. make it something we look forward to. I recommend this fine establishment whole-heartedly.

Very inviting lobby- loved the wine and cheese get together in the afternoon. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable about the surrounding area and very accommodating. The room was beautiful- loved the antiques, the fireplace was so inviting, as was the jacuzzi. Missed breakfast but was able to sample some of their breads- which were delicious. Fantastic night- would definitly return.

What a charming historic place to stay, conveniently located within walking distance to many interesting places. The staff exceeds expectations to take care of your wants and needs! Breakfasts are delicious, nutritious and offer something appealing to everyone. The wine and cheese hour is the "frosting on the cake" to a wonderful mini-vacation.

My wife and I had a great time at the Washington House Inn. We stayed in the King sweet which was fantastic. The place as an old style charm, but it is all very clean and nice. I wasn't too impressed with breakfast. It was good, but they do a buffet and it is not as good as some places where you get your own made to order meal.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay in our Deluxe King Suite. I wanted to respond to your breakfast comments. We refer to our breakfast as an "expanded continental breakfast buffet". Although not "made to order" we do offer our guests a wonderful selection. Each morning we feature a different hot entree, our freshly baked goods, seasonal fruit, selection of juices, and many protein items as requested by our guests. Please visit our website where we proudly display our award winning Cherry Pecan Scone with Maple Butter recipe. We also post a requested recipe each month in our newsletter, and again on our Facebook page. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

It's like going back in time, but still having all the amenities of today. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Rooms are each different and charming. Breakfasts are yummy with home baked good and lots of fresh fruit. I have been coming here for 20 years and always look forward to my next visit.

We have been guests at the Washington House Inn for over 20 years and each stay is more delightful than the last. Every room has its own unique personality. The entire Inn is small, the staff is personal and the entire stay is a little bit of heaven.

We were looking for a historic place to stay, so the inn was just our style. The wine and cheese bar was very nice and so was the morning breakfast offering.

Although we live within 5 miles, we wanted to try the WHI. What a treat for one day! The WHI was very comfortable and enjoyable with a friendly and helpful staff. Myriad dining opportunities; a beautifully restored movie theatre next door; a local winery to visit; exploring and shopping to your heart's content were just a few of the many attractions...and all within walking distance! Time well spent.

My husband and I visited the Washington House Inn for the weekend and we had a great time. The room was smaller than I expected, but it was very nice. The steam shower was wonderful, and the cleanliness of the inn was outstanding. The breakfasts were very nice - - more than I expected for a continental style breakfast, and the wine and cheese service in the afternoon was wonderful. We definitely plan on coming back to the Washington House Inn. There are some good restaurants and shops, and the town is very quaint and pretty. It snowed very heavily one of the days we were there, and it felt like we stepped into a Thomas Kinkaid painting. Just beautiful!

This was our second stay of two nights at the Washington Bed and Breakfast. We enjoyed both stays very much because the staff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms are decorated very tastefully and comfortable. Some of the rooms are larger than others because in the hotel itself they are smaller and if you want to spend alot of time in them ask for a room in the ajoining building where the rooms are a bit larger. Downtown Cederberg is a historic city near Milwaukee.

I visited the B/B in Cedarburg Wi. and stayed at the Washington Inn, and I must say the service and the rooms exceeded my expectations. They had great customer service and the food was outstanding. They were very clean and the value was worh it. You can find some cheaper, but I would strongly recommend this one. They had several cable stations to choose from, unlike many hotel rooms. All in all excellent place to stay.

The atmosphere is so old fashion, we love it. The wine and cheese hour is relaxing and allows you to meet other guests. Unfortunately with the price increase this year we wont be able to come as often.

We've been visiting over the past 10+ years and have never been disappointed! We stayed for 2 nights on our last visit, and wanted to stay in the Deluxe King Suite. Since it was only available for our second night, we thought that we would just stay in a different room the first night. To our surprise (and delight!) the staff got us in the Deluxe King Suite for BOTH nights! We WILL be back!!!

Very nice room at Schroeder House, though a bit pricey for the little time we spent there. Excellent service, clean room and grounds, cozy wine hour and breakfast. Caution: Washington Street, right outside our window is very noisy on a Saturday night. Will return often: although in a cheaper room - WAY too much to do in Cedarburg than sit a room!
