A Bungalow & Hideaway on the Bluff

Enjoyed our stay even though there was a big storm passing through. Eveerything was up to standards except for the terrible wi-fi connection and ancient TV. Wanted to stream a movie and the internet died every couple of minutes, must be an old DSL connection plus I couldn't hook up my tablet or laptop to the old TV, no HDMI. Otherwise, it was so close to everything in downtown PT, very clean and comfortable. Guess if technology isn't important to you, it's a great place to stay. Note, that no breakfast is included as it's more of a vacation rental - private home.

Superb view, very clean and private, comfortable bed, huge nice bathroom. Would stay here again.

The Hideaway was like staying in your own little house. You enter through your own private entrance to a full kitchen, living room, separate bath and bedroom. With the beautiful view from the living area and the charming decor it was quite relaxing. They no longer serve breakfast but had a coffee maker set up with some blueberry muffins and juice. We will definitely will stay again!

A more modern place than most of the Victorian B&B's in PT. Townsend, but extremely nice, well appointed large studio room. Lovely view of the water and ferry dock and a cute electric fireplace. Huge bathroom with jet tub. We never saw the caretakers, they came and went before we arrived. Breakfast was meager, bottled OJ and a large muffin, but apparently they have no way to accomodate anything else. I would recommend the bungalow, even though it seems a bit pricey.

No interaction withowner which was what we wanted. Just Muffin and OJ in fridge for Breakfast, also ok for us.

I was a bit surprised how small the place was for the price. It has a really nice view, but it is easy to forget that people walking by could see in the huge picture window. I'd go back during nice weather so I could take advantage of sitting outside.

WE had recieved a gift certificate for Christmas from our adult children for a night at the Bungalow and the Bungalow was unavailable, so we opted for the Hidaway and we were very pleased. We had most of the front of the place to ourselves and view was spectacular, so--- we had to park on the street out front--no big deal, no issues with that-- lovely walk way to the hideaway. No meals were provided but there was coffee, tea, blueberry muffins, and juice and water bottles provided. It was so quiet and peaceful, no noise from the road. We loved the fact we could walk all over town, everything was close. Making the arrangements were easy and Marilou was so nice and accomdating. My only suggestion was the bed was a little soft and the mattress probably should be replaced--but that really isn't a complaint, just an observation. Loved the decor, I highly recommend this "no children" Hideaway.

We loved our stay at this b&b; clean comfortable and an ideal location to explore Port Townsend, but away from the busy street allowing for a wonderful view over the bluff.

We did not realize thiads was not a B&B even though listed under same ob web search. We had some cleanliness issues but property management service rectified! Great view but look elsewhere if you want Port Townsend B&B experience.

Very nice place to stay, but Pt Townsend could use one good place to eat--definitely not the dining capital of the world or even the state for that matter. A lovely place to relax.

I liked everything about this bungalow except for the sharp step in the bathroom. I hurt my foot late at night trying to go to the bathroom. We even had our own deers in the garden. You need to put bubble bath in the bathroom if you are going to have that big tub.

The room was nice, clean and with a beautiful view. We got upgraded from the hideaway to the bungalow at no extra charge due to prior guests wanting to stay longer. Nice walking distance into town to dine as there were only muffins & juice for breakfast on only the first morning. I can't really call this a B&B, but it was a more than satisfactory place to stay. Had wi-fi. Watched the fawns nurse in the back yard.

Only stayed one night as it was a quick trip. Very comfortable bed and clean. We were disappointed that we could here the neighbours TV and music and faint conversation. Seemed less private because of that.

When we arrived at the Bungalow on the Bluff, we were greeted at the door by a doe and her fawn. They hung around most of the time we were there. We really enjoyed having their company. The Bungalow was clean, quiet and had a great view. Our stay was short but we enjoyed it. We would stay there again and recommend it to friends.

The Bungalow and it's location are better than we had imagined, it was like we had our own little house just blocks from all the great shops and restaraunts in PT. Next time we will be staying longer!

When we arrived at the bungalow, we had to dial a phonenumber to get a code of four numbers, which made it possible to enter the bungalow. We are coming from the netherlands, europe, and for us it is rather expensive to use our cellphone for this occasion. It would be much better if we are getting the code, by example, by email.

We had another great time staying at A Bungalow on the Bluff. We come here to visit friends and family at least 3 times a year, and have stayed many places. We love this one as it is really very nice, well located, and has the best view! We can walk everywhere and often bring our bikes. We love the Fountain Cafe, just down the street, and Siren's Pub.

Beautiful setting for an anniversary getaway. The bungalow is quaint and located in a prime location. Due to the thin walls between the two units, bungalow and hideaway, our first day/night's stay was not the best due to our neighbors. I could hear every word of their conversations until we finally turned on the radio to drown out the noise. Oh well, they must have left the next day:)

My partner and I loved the Hideaway. Perfect size and how could the location be better? You look out the front window at the sound and watch the ferries come and go! A minutes walk and you are in the heart of old Port Townsend. The setting was lovely, the amenities are plenty and all I need (cable, wifi, semi-kitchen). Great place to stay!

The room was very quaint and decorated nicely. The location was very close to downtown with a short walk which was also nice. Jetted tub was a nice bonus, as well as the heated tile floors. It was convenient to have some silverware, glassware, and flatware there in the room, as well as a fridge and microwave.The walls are thin and could hear the TV next door and people talking very clearly.

We were pleasantly surprised with the Hideaway. The only thing I could suggest is to improve the water pressure with an inline pump or something. Taking a shower was not very satisfying. Awesome place at a great price.

The view, furnishings and bathroom were beautiful. It is not a bed and breakfast in that no one is on site, but orange juice, coffee and muffins were available. The adorable town of Port Townsend is within walking distance, so dining opportunities are no problem. Great place.

Our stay at the Bungalow on the Bluffs was magical. So magical that our first evening in the Bungalow my fellow asked for my hand in marriage. He proposed as we gazed at the lovely view. My answer was yes. As for our two night stay, it was devine. Marilou, the manager, had the place spotless and there were yummies in the refridgerator. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom very gracious. Everything was wonderful. I have told many of my friends about the Bungalow and advised them to stay there when in Port Townsend. Thank you for a magical stay.

The huge picture window looked out over action without noise. The ferry, birds, neighboring islands, and the garden filled our view. The best part was the huge soaking tub. And we were pleased to see the treats in store in the little kitchen. Great bed with good reading lights too. And all within walking distance of both uptown and downtown.

We spent one night here for our anniversary and, despite the grey skies and intermittent rain, we had a wonderfully relaxing stay. The room is light-filled, spacious and beautifully furnished, and the view from the bluff overlooking the Port Townsend waterfront is spectacular. It's withing walking distance of a fabulous selection of restaurants, from a good coffee house to a five-star dinner. The perfect place to spend a close-to-home weekend.

We rented a Hideaway on the bluff for a romantic winter weekend away. The condo was everything I expected, and more :-) We LOVED the heated floors, full kitchen, and comfortable living area. We are not used to having cable, so cuddling up with the fireplace and watching movies was SUCH A TREAT! The fireplace is so romantic, and you can turn it on and off with the touch of a button. The rooms were lovely. Cozy, quiet and welcoming, convenient to restaurants and shopping, and with a fantastic view. A perfect romantic spot.

We stayed at Bungalow for a romantic get-away to celebrate our third year together dating. As we began to exit our car in the parking spot in the garden area behind the bungalow, we noticed a deer bedded down approximately 15 feet from the car. My girlfriend was so excited and began taking pictures from the car. We got out of the car to walk up the walkway to the entry door of the bungalow and found another deer bedded down in the yard 10 feet from the walkway, turned around and found a third deer!!! It was a great way to start off the weekend during our first trip to port townsend!! The room was very clean and has a great view from the couch and even bed! Staying there was like having our own condo at PT. I took my girlfriend for dinner at Manresa Castle "Castle Key" restraunt and proposed before dinner, SHE SAID YES!! We Spend the rest of the weekend walking through the great shops in PT and enjoyed a real Strawberry Soda at the Pharmacy! The last night we decided to stay in the bungalow and watch movies and enjoy the scenery from the couch. I will definately be returning to the bungalow as we have many things that we would still like to see in PT!! We also enjoyed the bunkers at Fort Worder State Park!! Take a flashlight!! :)

My wife and I had a great 2 1/2 days in Port Townsend at this facility. We recommend it highly.

Magnificent views, very clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable, quiet. It is a perfect getaway for a relaxing time together. We brought our own food/beverages for a lovely picnic on the well-manicured lawn. Highly recommended.

The online reservation was pleasantly easy, no maze of pop up windows or endless number of boxes with pull down menu options. The confirmation was quick and the followup e-mail instructions we equally simple and reliable. The grounds were exceptionally well kept, the view worthy of a easy chair gaze and the neighborhood was very clean and quiet yet only three blocks from the action. Plenty of room in the evening to host a small gathering of people if an ad hoc assembly spot was needed. One point to note for folks who are over 6' tall, the bed while very comfortable is a bit short and you will dangle toes. Absolutely the best deal to be found in town! Only a short walk to the waterfront & shopping. The comforts of a B&B with the privacy of a hotel. Simple registration & no-hassle check in or out. We will be repeat guests for certain.

My husband and I love the Bungalow. We stayed here on our honeymoon and again on two anniversaries. We usually park our car for the weekend which we just love, since we both have traveling jobs and spend way too much time in a car. The staff here keep everything spotless, the gardens are all immaculate. We highly recommend!

Wow! We had a wonderful stay and are already looking forward to coming back! The rooms are all beautifully decorated in unique styles, staff was helpful in planning our meals, activities, and avoiding ferry problems! Breakfast was amazing and delicious. My husband was always trying to jockey for another scone. We loved sitting on the front porch enjoying a glass of wine, and the beautiful view of this amazing town. This is a hidden gem of a place. I am so glad we found it!

We just had a great weekend at The James House! It has a fabulous location and a warm and relaxing atmosphere. Our room was lovely (we stayed in a big suite-like room downstairs). I loved the charming decor and loved having a big sitting area, bedroom, and separate entrance. The view of the water, sailboats, and ferry boats was amazing. The scones are the best we've ever had, loved the souffle', and chocolate chip cookies. I only wish we could have stayed longer!

My partner and I spent three nights at The James House this past month and were so pleased that we just had to write a review to let others know about this inn. It has a great location where you can just park your car and walk, and we really appreciated that aspect. The views are amazing from the inn and the whole place is amazingly and lovingly maintained. We had a wonderful breakfast, and had a chance to meet some really nice folks from all over the country! The nice thing about this inn is that if you want privacy...you can have all you want. If you want to be social, there is opportunity for that. We liked having the balance between the two. The James House feels very upscale without being stuffy and cold. Quite the contrary, we found it to be very inviting and comfortable. We felt that it was a very good value and we will highly recommend it to our friends.

A friend and I (a couple of old ladies) stayed in the Gardener's Cottage and were delighted. We don't climb stairs well any more, and this provided a good way to avoid them, with a flat pathway to the separate building, which also had a covered outside patio. Breakfast was sumptuous, very good, and generously and willingly packaged to go. Highly recommended.

Our rooms were in the basement (living room and bedroom - both huge), and had a separate ground level entrance. What is lacked in view it more than made up for in space and comfort. There is a selection of movies and our room had a TV with a built-in VCR (the TV was small). At breakfast we were given no choice, but the quiches served on the two mornings were tremendous. One of the staff chased down a dinner reservation for us one evening and also provided a great recommendation for a second meal. We will stay there again.

My husband and I stayed in the Bridal Suite at the James House Bed and Breakfast for two nights during the Port Townsend Victorian Festival. We loved the authentic old fashioned atmosphere very, very much! We couldn't believe how lovely the views of the bay were from the many windows in our room and our separate sitting room! We could see the pretty gardens from our room with the many daffodils, hyacinths and camelias in bloom. Our own fireplace kept us cozy at all times. My husband enjoyed reading while reclining on the chaise lounge by the window. The two breakfasts that we had were very delicious and filling! The friendly innkeeper is a fantastic cook and gave us excellent service. She told us many stories about Mr. James and his house. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the James House and can't wait to return! Port Townsend is a darling Victorian town and very welcoming to tourists. I recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone wishing to enjoy peace and quiet, great food, comfy rooms and lovely antique surroundings!

Outstanding in every way. Port Townsend is a great place to spend time and this is the place to stay. I have stayed in many places in Port Townsend as this is my favorite getaway spot, and The James House is by far my favorite place to stay. Great views, it is within walking distance of everything, and it is impeccibly maintained. The staff is warm, helpful, and very professional. The breakfast is delicious and something I look forward to every time I come. It is just a great experience in every way!
