The Tyn-y-Groes serves excellent food utilising Welsh products wherever possible and serving fine cask ales where everyone from locals to city folk will feel at home with the warm welcome provided by the family and dedicated staff. After a hard day riding the bike trails or walking the undulating terrain within this part of the Snowdonia National Park or maybe resting from your travels, warm your feet by a log burning fire during the winter or sun yourself in the secluded beer garden during the summer away from the toils of life and travelling. Whether you’re after a quick snack or a weekday lunch or a traditional pub meal with family and friends in the evening there is some serious eating to be done here with wonderful fresh Welsh produce and unusual twists to homemade favourites which can be selected from our main menu or specials board. Our dining rooms have recently been adjoined and refurbished to allow for larger parties or sectioned off to create a private dining area but still retaining the charm and atmosphere that is characteristic of the “Tyny” as its known locally. Although the name calls it a hotel there is none of the formality normally associated with hotels, its been called a hotel for over 500 years and we are hardly about to break that tradition , as it was built to serve the travelling public in the days of the Royal Mail as a resting post and mail drop point. Latterly as an infamous hunting, shooting, fishing lodge for the gentry in the days of yore, now long passed except for the fishing, which is still allowed on the Mawddach, 1.25 miles of permitted angling on the best fishing tract for salmon and sea trout on the whole river. We are a three star tavern/ coaching inn as classified by the Welsh Tourist Board.
