Inn Details

Our 1908 Craftsman style home is located at the edge of downtown Olympia. You can ditch your car and enjoy Oly on foot. People call Fertile Ground an "oasis" because we're surrounded by greenery in the midst of the concrete around us. With mature fruit and nut trees and a large garden, you'll think you're out in the country. Children love it here. Our toy boxes are stocked and the outdoors holds much to be discovered and eaten.
Our mission is to demonstrate urban sustainability. If you're already familiar with common environmental practices like recycling, composting and eating organic food, you'll feel right at home here. If not, we'd be happy to explain their importance, as well as our use of organic bedding, biodegradable detergents and energy saving appliances.
We are demonstrating ways to reduce consumption and waste. We love sharing what we know and learning more from our guests.

    Photo Album

Queen size bed with pillow-top mattress in the South Room. This quiet and spacious room is ideal for snuggling, contemplation and replenishment. Filtered southern light comes through the walnut tree. You can't believe you're downtown! The West Room is on the main floor, making it ideal for guests avoiding stairs. The decor favors Latin America. There's an adjacent private bathroom with a shower. Light pours in from the west through kiwi vines. Queen size bed, ceiling fan, roll-top desk.
The North room is the sunniest of all, with no trees blocking the sunlight. It pours across the Puget Sound, through downtown and straight into your large windows. The extra day bed can be made up for your extra guest. Large closet, ceiling fan, queen bed. Our large flower and veggie garden spreads over the entire lot next door. We strive to put something on your plate from our garden every day.
We've had the pleasure of hosting many exciting guests. Pictured here is one of our heroes, Amy Goodman from Democracy Now! When she understood our mission she said "I call people like you Do-All-ogists."
