What a fun and great place to stay. The hosts were thrilled to see us, and made us feel very special. One of the best places we have ever stayed. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Carol and Bogdan went out of their way to make my stay, with my pooch, delightful. The B&B was immaculately clean, even with pets allowed. The breakfasts were wonderful and varied. And it's nice that they give 'singles' a discount. I would highly recommend their B&B and plan to return there myself this summer.

Carol and Bogdan were very personable and accommodating. Carol went out of her way to cook breakfasts that fit my diet, even though she continued to prepare separate meals the rest of the guests. They were also both very easy to talk to and gave us great hints on places to see/things to do on Orcas.

Had an enjoyable stay at Blue Heron. The innkeepers were very friendly and offered us maps and recommendations for activities around the island. Cute spot, close to the ferry, and short drive to East Sound. Recommended!

We stayed at the Blue Heron the weekend of the Orcas 25km. What a fabulous home to spend relaxation time in! Very comfortable and spacious room (Pelican). Water view from the bed. Nice location away from the tourist route. Carol, Bogdan and Pulaski pup were relaxing to be around. Ask for Carols morning egg dish and afternoon cookies! Great place to balance out a Rainshadow Running 25/50km trail run at Moran State Park.

As a pet owner, I hate travelling without bringing my four-legged children in tow. Luckily, Bogdan and Carol run a fantastic B&B that allows pets! The house is so relaxing and on a great side of the island. Make sure you stop by the Blue Heron as you won't be disappoint. I'm sure your pups won't be either!

Blue Heron provided a comfortable stay for our short trip to Orcas Island. Location on the scenic West Sound Bay was conveniently close to the ferry and we got help from our host with finding other locations on the island. The older house is interesting and well maintained. We stayed in the Egret Room where we could go out on the deck to see the (almost) full moon.

We made a few special requests while staying here and Carol supplied us with everything we needed, going above and beyond the normal expectations of a bed and breakfast host. Thank you!

I truly enjoyed my birthday weekend at the Blue Heron Bed and Breakfast. Carol, the hostess, was very friendly and provided very useful information on Orcas Island. The room was beautiful and contained provisions for my dog. I would love to come back here and stay longer next time :-)

We looked up the B&B and made reservations on the Friday before veteran's day weekend and we were very pleased that there was a room available! The room was a bit small, but we were pleased that we could bring our dog and the accommodations were comfortable.

Carol & Bogdan were wonderful hosts, warm, friendly and helpful. They were especially accommodating when my wife and I caught colds. They are charming and engaging, sharing the history of the building and about themselves. The B&B is warmly decorated in a nautical theme with historic photos of the area and their families. Breakfasts were delicious, unique and varied each morning. We had a wonderful visit and look forward to returning in the future.

We enjoyed our stay at the Blue Heron. It was a relief to find a terrific place to stay that also welcomed our Boston Terrier.

I chose this B&B because they accept dogs. The Owners as well as the other guests truly welcomed my pets. It was an ideal situation for them and in turn made me so happy. Bogdan waited on us well the whole time we were there but especially at breakfast. Carol made us a delicious breakfast. When she found out I didn't eat white flour she made me waffles with whole wheat flour and they were yummy. This is a great place to stay with a beautiful view of the water.

This was our first experience at a bed and breakfast. We were pleased with the fiendliness of out hosts, and the other guests. It was a welcome change from the impersonal, large motels, hotels. We will look forward to trying another bed and breakfast in our future travels. Thank you, Blue Heron, for a pleasant, inviting experience.

My husband and I spent 4 days at the Blue Heron for our honeymoon. Carol and Bogdan were very welcoming and made amazing breakfasts. The view from our room was spectacular, and the fresh baked cookies every night was a sweet touch. I would love to come back in the future!

My husband and I were on the island to visit my sister. We stayed at the Blue Heron and enjoyed every minute of it. The view from our room was incredible, and we LOVED the little balcony overlooking the water. We spent time there just soaking up the island. The owners could not have been nicer. A wonderful place to stay!

The Blue Heron B&B was such a lovely place to stay in a serene environment. I only wish that I had had more time to stay there. I really enjoyed just sitting on the porch swing overlooking the beautiful landscape and harbor of West Sound. The owners are friendly and have lots of recommendations for what to do on the island. If I get the opportunity to go back to Orcas, I would definitely stay here again.

This is the second time in three years we have stayed at the Blue Heron and always look forward to coming back here when we visit the San Juan Islands. Carol and Bogden are wonderful hosts and take care to the needs of each of their guests. Carol's homemade breakfasts are delicious; her menus are available to take home, and both she and Bogden provide great tips on things to do on Orcas Island, great restaurants, and places to visit that are not in the usual travel guides. This is a pet-friendly B&B, which is very unusual in the San Juans - and they really care about your pup here, providing a fenced -yard for it to play in, treats, and special bedding just to accommodate your favorite pet. Don't miss the opportunity to stay here. It's a great experience!

We only stayed one night, but that was enough to know what great hosts Bogdan and Carol were. They took care of reservations for us for dinner, made us feel very welcome, and did a nice job of introducing all the guests at breakfast the next morning. Carol's manner is very casual and easy - makes you feel like a friend you just met!

The host and hostess are very friendly and make an effort to be helpful. The breakfast is delicious. The furnishings are comfortable and cozy - like going to grandma's. Potential guests might wish to know that the knicknacks and wall art are expressive of the owner's Christian faith. I was surprised to see that in a locale where beautiful gardena grow and bloom profusely, this house had no landscaping. The yard was just dirt and a bit weedy. Also they do not leave a notice telling you that they are not going to make up the room or bring fresh towels so that guests can request those things if they would like them, or at least know they ought to keep the towels hung up so they will dry out and be fit to reuse. The best thing about the rooms is the decks with views of the bay, however I would suggest they install curtains or shutters on the side of each deck that faces the one next door, as they are too close together for a sense of comfortable privacy if the guests in both rooms are out on the decks at the same time.

We had a wonderful stay at the Blue Heron. We chose the private room, with private entry in back since we stayed four days. Really comfortable. Only frustration was there was no closet or chest of drawers, so we couldn't "unpack". But the room was quaint, clean, and comfortable bed. The service was terrific and we plan to return.

My husband and I recently stayed on Orcas Island to celebrate our two year anniversary. It was a wonderful experience. The main house is beautiful, the room was perfect. You have a spectacular view from the main deck. The hospitality of Carol and her husband was remarkable. We gave a long list of items we couldn't eat for breakfast and they served us up a great meal! The Blue Heron is very dog friendly. I had read that on the website, but opted to leave our pup at home. Once we got there and saw all the pups other guests had brought, I was wishing we had brought ours! Next time! I am already looking forward to another adventure on Orcas Island and staying at the Blue Heron.

We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during our trip to Orcas. Our hosts were gracious and informative. The breakfast that was served was hearty, healthy, and delicious. On the morning that we left, our ferry departed quite early, so our hosts packed us a brown bag filled with goodies to enjoy on our ride back to Anacortes. Our rooms, as well as the bath were spotless and well supplied. I would wholeheartedly recommend The Blue Heron.

The hosts are awesome and the house is in a beautiful location. Great and filling breakfasts at a reasonably priced B and B.

When we travel we usually stay in Hampton Inns or something similar because we know what to expect in accomodations. A b&b is a risk for us because each is so individual, but this one is top notch. We stayed in the Egret room which we found comfortable and clean. The location of the B&B we found was ideal. It was easy to get to the various villages. Each breakfast was unique and delicious. Our hosts were friendly. For your stay on Orcas, we are confident in recommending the Blue Heron.

This was one of the best B&B's I've ever experienced. My room was cozy and very comfortable. Would have enjoyed a little more counter space in the bathroom however. The hosts were outstanding and very accommodating. Breakfast was fantastic.

Owners are extremely pleasant and made you feel so welcomed. The breakfasts were the highlight. Absolutely amazing meals, which included good nutrition. Room was alittle small for 2. Needs a bigger floor length mirror. Altogether had a wonderful 2 night stay.

I stayed two nights at this B&B and enjoyed it immensely. Carol and Bogdan are delightful people and made me feel welcome. Carol gave me maps and ideas as to what to do on Orcas island. The breakfast was wonderful and the room cozy, comfortable, and homey...nothing like an impersonal hotel room. If I ever return to this island, I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. I would recommend anyone to book here!

Great spot for a B & B right on the water and yet a quiet location. Orcas is a great island to explore and the Blue Heron was a great base to launch from. Breakfast was wonderful and the conversation with the hosts and other guests was very fun. Thanks!

The Inn was fabulous and was very comfortable. The owners were great and very accomodating. The view from our balcony was marvelous. I would recommend this to any wanting a quite and peacefull stay on Orcas.

My husband and I had a wedding to attend on one of the busiest weekends in July. We found this B&B, with one of the cheapest rates on the island for summer, and was in awe at what we got. Awesome service! The water is literally across street and can be seen from our deck off the room. Breakfast was delish and the loved the community tablescape. Plus, since we were staying in the Walrus Room the bathrobes were received with thanksgiving since our bathroom is across the hall. Nothing is too far from this place since Eastsound is only 6 miles away and the ferry is maybe a mile. (Blue Heron is technically located in Westsound but no map online will tell you that.) We loved our time here and will definitely stay here again, if we ever make our way back!
5 on July 22, 2012
This B&B is perfect for an off-the-beaten path place to stay with great views and very welcoming hosts. The house is right across the road from the water, so you may wake up to sounds of boats or lots of fog. If you're looking for a quiet retreat away from the busier towns of the islands, this is it! There's a nicer restaurant less than a block away for a quiet, water-side lunch or dinner outside. Breakfast each morning was delicious, not to mention nutritious and well-balanced, and we even got a 'to-go' bag when we had to leave early one morning for the ferry. Thanks for a fabulous stay, Bogdan and Carol!

The hosts, Carol and Bogdan, make the Blue Heron what it is. They go above and beyond to ensure your stay on Orcas Island is like being at home. From accommodating diet needs to outlining activities, they set the standard. The rooms are cozy with everything you need, and there is a wonderful front porch that overlooks the water. Highly recommend Blue Heron as your "home base" when you visit Orcas Island.

We loved our stay with Carol and Bogdan at the Blue Heron B and B. We are kayakers and their B and B is just a block away from a beautiful county dock for putting in our boat. The food was fantastic and the company was better. We would stay there again!! Bruce and Janice

Blue Heron is such a warmly hospitable place to stay I don't feel the need to go elsewhere. The owners are friendly and helpful to reccommend places to see on the island. I've been there several times now, and it is always clean and the breakfasts are delicious! I just feel at home and like I'm family. I highly reccommend it!!!!

My wife and I have never stayed at a Bed & Breakfast before so we weren't sure what to expect. We were so thankful for the hospitality provided at the Blue Heron. We stopped in the night before to make sure we had the right place. No one was staying in the room we had reserved so they let us take a quick tour before we headed to our campsite for one more night. It rained on us all night. We showed up at the Blue Heron looking as though we had just been drug out of the rain and at 8:30am they allowed us to check in early, settle in and take a nap to get rejuvenated for the day's activities. Thank you! Additionally, the room was great, the view was great, the breakfast was outstanding and they were such warm and gracious hosts. We highly recommend the Blue Heron!

Bogden and Carol were the ideal hosts for this lake-front property. The Pelican Room was spacious enough for a family of 4, the breakfast was delicious and the views from the room made you want to sit on the private patio all day. They also helped us get a quick seat at a local restaurant on the very busy 4th of July. Would definitely stay here again!
5 on July 08, 2012
Everything about the Blue Heron was excellent. It started with their understanding of our plight as the ferries were backed up for hours due to holiday traffic to the awesome food. With only four rooms, you don't feel crowded and it's not noisy, allowing for quiet time to relax and enjoy yourself. Bogdan and Carol were very gracious and made us feel welcomed while we stayed. Highly recommended.

We loved our stay at Blue Heron B&B! The room was charming, spotless, and had a gorgeous view of the bay. This B&B is located in a quiet, quaint spot on Orcas; it was rather nice to get away from the hustle and bustle in Friday Harbor. It was so serene. In fact, one morning when we went out to sit on our private deck, we saw a young bald eagle perched in a tree nearby! Bogdan & Carol were wonderful hosts. Carol found us a map of San Juan Island when she discovered we didn't have one. The breakfasts were scrumptious and filling - just what we needed to begin a day of exploring (ok, and shopping). Great coffee, Bogdan! We can't wait to go back. Highly, highly recommended. Dan & Kathleen

I have dietary needs and they were able to work with that and even used some of my Almond cheese for my egg dish. We would again for sure.

We stayed one night at the Blue Heron. We would definitely go back there. Bogdan and Carol are wonderful hosts. We could not have asked for more. The facilities and the food were excellent. Even the weather was good!
5 on February 25, 2012
We chose the Blue Heron because it was the most reasonably priced on San Juan or Orcas islands, but did not sacrifice anything in terms of quality. The Egret Room was cozy, with an outdoor deck with a breathtaking view of the water. Breakfast was delightful, with the staff cheerfully accommodating my low-carb-yet-meatless diet. Speaking of the staff, they were bright and friendly throughout the stay. Lovely downstairs area with a fireplace in each room. As an added touch, they surprised me with a balloon on the door when they found out it was my birthday. They were also extremely knowledgeable about restaurants and locations on the island, and were more than happy to give us suggestions on where to go for our first trip here. When we come back to the islands in the future, we will definitely be staying here again.

Over all a great place to stay. Carol and Bogdan were wonderful, helpful hosts, the house was beautifully clean and we felt very welcome. Our gang could have used more breakfast and the beds were a bit soft, but we enjoyed our stay in the Blue House.

My wife and I spent 6 wonderful days at the Blue Heron in the care of hosts Bogdan, Carole and of course Pulaski. The views from the B&B are beautiful and made me nostalgic for the coast of Maine where I grew up.It is centrally located within minutes of restaurants, kayaking, hiking, biking, etc. Caole and Bogdan were helpful with tips on adventures and reservations. September was wonderful for Orca whale watching and the weather was perfect. We stayed in the Walrus room which, tho small (other rooms are larger), was clean, comfortable and charming. Carole is a creative chef and the breakfasts kept us going into early afternoon. I highly recommend the Blue Heron and our hosts as a base for adventure or just a cozy place to relax.

The view from the balcony of our room was amazing, out over a peaceful harbor. The innkeepers had placed a tall table and chairs there so we could enjoy the view comfortably. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated, the breakfast was delicious, and afternoon cookies scrumtious. There's a very comfortable, laid back atmosphere- perfect for a relaxing getaway. We took an early ferry, and the innkeepers even made us a sack breakfast to take with us. I highly recommend the Blue Hereon.
