The Mountaineer Inn is a traditional mountain lodge located at the base of the Mount Snow resort in Southern Vermont. The Inn remains a quiet mountain retreat with friendly attentive service and home cooked meals. The Inn is family owned and operated. While we have many outstanding features, a particular favorite is that we are conveniently located at the base of Mount Snow. This allows Mountaineer Inn guests to walk to all Mount Snow events and it's skiing, hiking and mountain biking trails. The Inn sits on a beautiful 10-acre meadow bordered by two brooks. The entire Inn is non-smoking, BYOB and all guest rooms have private baths and each is individually decorated. While there are no TVs in the guestrooms we have 2 large screen TVs in the lounges. Our 14-person outdoor hot tub is always a popular place to gather after a day on the mountain.

In early June we attended an Elderhostel on the topic of Gilbert and Sullivan at the Mountaineer Inn. This was a wonderful Elderhostel--facilities and everything. Royal & Ned were very gracious hosts and helped us whenever we asked. The food was excellent, varied and the best meals of all the Elderhostels we've attended. We had read some negative reviews of the Inn. We found that these reviews were completely unjustified. The facilities and the staff were excellent. We would come back again. The only complaint was that the food portions were too large.
