    Peaceful and Comfortable Stay

    May 01, 2013

Patty and Guntram were such gracious hosts. They stayed up late to accommodate our arrival after 10 PM, chatted with us after breakfast, and gave excellent suggestions for day trips, restaurants, and hikes in the area. Breakfast was delicious and Patty was happy to share her techniques and recipes - she copied out a recipe by hand for me! Our room and private bathroom were impeccably clean, the bed was very soft and comfortable, and the walls were decorated with beautiful paintings done by Patty. The evenings and nights in the house were quiet and peaceful, even though the other guest rooms were occupied. The location is incredible - just a few minutes' walk to the town and college. This was such a memorable and comfortable stay! We look forward to returning in the fall.

    Friendly, Comfortable and Convenient

    April 26, 2012

This B&B, run by Patty and Guntram Herb, is literally steps away from either the Middlebury campus or delightful, Middlebury village center. I was there to attend events in the Wright Theatre and Attwood Commons, and was able to quickly and safely stroll back to my room late at night, without the hassle of driving and finding parking. Meeting my son at a cafe in town required only 5 minutes lead time for walking. There are two bedrooms available, a downstairs room and an upstairs en-suite;I took the upstairs room with it's lovely additional loft for sitting, reading, or relaxing. A separate entry door to the room, loft and bathroom area give a real sense of privacy. Patty is an artist and many of her paintings from her adjacent studio brighten all the rooms of the house. An accommodating hostess, she seeks to meet any dietary needs in the generous portions of her creative breakfast menu. Ella, the small resident dog, greets visitors enthusiastically, and after a hello and a pat on the head, trundles off, satisfied, to her personal cushion. Patty and Guntram are knowledgeable about the town, the art scene, and Middlebury College, where Guntram is a professor. I had a delightful four day stay, and highly recommend a stay at " A Room In The Village"

    great spot

    April 24, 2012

I stayed here last summer. It was perfect! Clean, well-appointed and an easy walk to the College and downtown Middlebury. Patty & Guntram were wonderful hosts, there if I needed them (and you WILL need their four star breakfast!) but not at all intrusive. I especially loved all the art and books, the comfortable family feel even though my room and private bath was completely separate. I didn't need to walk through any family space but felt welcome in the common areas.

    we will definitely go back

    April 22, 2012

Well located B&B in a quiet part of town, short walking distance from town center, restaurants and college area. Close to a variety of hiking trails, nice roads around for cycling. Very welcoming hosts, willing to accomodate for food restrictions and preferences, outstanding breakfasts with fresh food. We experienced the two available rooms: the upstairs suite is just great, sunny, roomy, with a mezzanine, large private bathroom, lots of privacy and intimacy. The downstairs room is small but comfortable and convenient, private bathroom is down the hall but OK, could probably use more storage room for longer stays. Lots of arts and paintings, mostly from the owner, give a charming and lively touch to the place.
