  • Inn Details

Conveniently located in Central Vermont, Maplecroft B&B allows you to experience Vermont from its heart. Maplecroft is a grand 1887 Victorian home built by Scottish immigrant and granite entrepreneur George Mackie, and features a circular tower, carved wood trim, high ceilings and antique furnishings. Lovingly renovated, Mackie's "Scottish castle" is the perfect place from which to enjoy the Barre-Montpelier area and Central Vermont with all its beauty and history. Maplecroft offers three double-occupancy guestrooms and two suites with TV's, one with a full kitchen. All rooms have either a king or queen bed and a private bath, and both suites have an additional queen-size sleeper sofa. Common areas include a period parlor, dining room and music room with grand piano, as well as a comfortable den with a TV and a wraparound porch.

Dan and Yasunari were most welcoming and made us feel at home. We slept very well on the comfortable mattress and breakfast was delicious. Hope Cemetary is a must to visit and the master granite carvers skill is awesome. Don't be afraid to ask for directions as the residents are very friendly. One lady actually told us to follow her in her yellow VW bug and drove us directly to the cemetary. Unbelievable! Will be sure to return.

    Lovely!

We spent one night at Maplecroft. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Yasunari and their delightful Westie, Barney. We stayed in the Tower Room, which although small, was well appointed and had the most heavenly cloud-like bed. Our private bathroom was just across the hall. It was chockfull of lovely Vermont made soaps, shampoo, and conditioner. We took a leisurely stroll down Main Street and came back to a treat of hearing Yasunari practicing classic piano on a baby grand. We slept like babies and in the morning got to meet Dan, and had one of the best meals of our entire trip! A delectable breakfast of broccoli, egg and cheese casserole, thick bacon, roasted mushrooms and tomatoes, zucchini bread and fresh fruit salad. YUM. All of the guests were enjoying their stay so much. It was an awesome experience. The only downside is we would have liked to have more attractions within walking distance.
