Dutchies View Bed & Breakfast

Just returned to Northern Virginia after our third stay at Dutchies. Patrick is a colorful host and the pets are so friendly, especially Tinker Bell. We're now looking to relocate to Patrick County and will hopefully have a view overlooking Woolwine and Dutchies. I highly recommend the area for a weekend getaway and a stay at Dutchies. A lovely, quiet B&B in the foothills of Virginia. Patrick, our host, was very informative about nearby dining and sightseeing opportunities. Patrick is also a great cook, making breakfast "to order" as guests arrived in the dining room. Don't turn down the lemon ginger pancakes if they're on the menu when you're there!

We were travelling along the Blue Ridge Parkway on a trip from the UK. We booked Dutchies from the Uk because it was close to the Parkway. We very much enjoyed our stay. Patrick is a very welcoming and helpful host. Our room was nicely decorated, very clean and everything for our comfort had been thought of.He prepared a full and scrumptious breakfast for us the following morning.Dutchies is in a lovely position with beautiful views and surrounding countryside.

Of the many B&Bs we've used over the years this is 1 of few to which we'd return in a heartbeat. Patrick is a warm, welcoming host. He keeps a comfortable & inviting place. He makes a really nice breakfast. The location was ideal for traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as for exploring the many towns & activities in that area of VA. It was quiet; &, the setting allowed for sipping our mead as we watched sunset against the mountains & for stargazing - we'll bring the telescope next time. The other guests were friendly & interesting. We had a really enjoyable time at Dutchies View.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Dutchies View over the weekend, and had a very positive experience. The breakfast was very good, the rooms were nice, and there was a great view. In particular, Patrick was a very helpful and welcoming host, and made the stay very pleasant. We didn't get a chance to take advantage of all the amenities because we spend most of the weekend at various events, but would like to try the hammocks, bocce-ball, and other things to do outside on a future visit. Good value and recommend it!

I would highly recommend Dutchie's View. The view is very nice and the room we had (the cat room) was very comfortable and nicely decorated. At times the temperature it was a bit cold b/c of the AC configuration, but we were able to close the AC vert and it was much better. Patrick was a wonderful host and accomadated our vegan diet on short notice. I would definitely return.

Patrick was very friendly, helpful, and informative. The view was lovely. The dogs were friendly and hogged the chairs in the tv room.. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this Inn.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay here where the quiet and beautiful views were exceptional! Patrick fixed us delicious breakfasts each of our three mornings there.

I appreciated the "green" policy of not giving out little bars of disposable soaps, etc. The breakfast was excellent, and the owner's pleasant banter made the stay very enjoyable. My only complaint was that the room was quite warm, and there didn't seem to be a way to regulate the temperature (I probably should have gotten up and turned on the overhead fan, or opened the window).

Patrick is a wonderful host and his canine assistants are the sweetest girls. The view is wonderful and it was so wonderful not to be hot for three whole days!

A wonderful place to stay for a romantic getaway. The view is breathtaking, the breakfast outstanding, and we enjoyed the quiet time on the rocking chair on the patio. We will be back for the wine season! Thanks for a great weekend.

Patrick was a wonderful host and made us feel like family. We didn't want to leave and cannot wait till we can comeback and stay again. One of the most relaxing and beautiful places I have seen. Patrick is the Man !!

Needed just a quick getaway for our anniversary. The owners were able to accomodate us with very short notice. Room was very clean and charming. Beds VERY comfortable. Wonderful porches (2) to chose from to sit upon a view the mountains. Very lovely setting. Would love to come back ing the Fall to see the colorful foliage. Dined at Chateau Morrisette for dinner. Wonderful - have their creme brulee! Did not visit the small, charming town of Floyd. But have before, so if you stay all weekend, be sure to visit on a Friday night and go to the Old County Store for music and OddFellas for dinner. Breakfast was delicious!

Patrick was an excellent host! We enjoyed the breakfast, as well as relaxing on the porch taking in the view. The only negative for us, arriving on motorcycles, was the ascending gravel driveway. Overall, though, a very nice stay!

You can't see a road. The breeze was steady over the hammocks, the temperature was great, it was very quiet and Patrick took good care of us. Thank you!

We did not have much time to actually be at Dutchies View due to other commitments in the area, but would definitely come again if we get the chance. We only got to meet Patrick this trip, but he made us feel very comfortable and he is a great cook! The food was great, the room was great, the view was beautiful!

Dutchies View Bed and Breakfast was a great place to spend the weekend. The room was spacious and immaculate. Towels were thick and the bed was extra comfortable. Patrick was a great host and very helpful with sites in the area. Breakfast meals were good and on time. All in all it was a great experience.

The host at Dutchies made our visit PHENOMENAL! He obviously loves what he does and does what he loves, I highly recommend this bed and breakfast, the views are awesome! Good attractions close by, the mountains are beautiful.

Beautiful, large, covered porch with great rockers overlooking a gorgeous mountain view. Excellent breakfast of home baked breads, homemade jams, eggs made to order, gourmet pancakes and bacon. A sweet welcoming committee of one short dog, one tall dog and one mischievous cat that attacks the unsuspecting dogs. Beautifully decorated room with a comfortable bed.

Dutchies view Bed and breakfast is a comfortable warm and inviting place. Patrick, Crystal, Dutchie, Daisy and Tinkerbell are all friendly and outgoing and we felt like we were staying with family rather than innkeepers. The French toast was delicious! We didn't have enough time to enjoy everything there is to do in the area. We look forward to a return visit.

This was our first experience at a b&b and we fully enjoyed ourselves. The host, Patrick greeted us upon our arrival and was extremely gracious and friendly. There are 2 adorable dogs who live on my property and they are very friendly and use to people. The rooms were great, bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. We will definitely be back!

We stayed at Dutchies over Labor Day Weekend and loved our experience. Crystal and Patrick are very friendly and knowledgable about the area, the rooms are clean and more than sufficient, and the views...amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back.

Patrick and Crystal are excellent hosts, always ready to chat and very attentive to the needs of their guests. Our room was clean, cozy and quiet. Breakfast fare was typical, but very good and plentiful. The two dogs are very friendly and gentle and add to the homey feeling of the inn. The view is fantastic! Don't be discouraged by foggy mornings; hang around until the fog dissipates.. the wait is worth it.

We stayed here on our way home from Tennessee after we decided to stop half way and hit some wineries. The room was very nice and homey. I really enjoyed the homecooked breakfast, the unlimited tea and variety of tea, and the gorgeous view. The only suggestion I would make is probably finding a way to do a little soundproofing. There was never any loud noise, but I did hear when people walked past our door, but it was very minimal. I would definitely stay here again and tell my friends about.

Wonderful hospitality, gorgeous view, and cozy rooms, plus a killer breakfast for a great value. If you don't know the area the host will fill you in on local attractions. Definately worth it.

A absolutely wonderful place to stay! The host is extremely accomidating, the view fantastic. Pure comfort and relaxation. We enjoyed sitting on the Porch, watching nature and talking with the Host(s) - yes, the two dogs were every bit a part of the comfort!

Innkeepers were incredibly friendly and hospitable. The food, both dessert and breakfast, was some of the best we've had at a bed and breakfast and the grounds were beautiful. It was a beautiful and relaxing stay.

The view is truly wonderful, Dutchie, the dog, is friendly and sweet, and the owners were very nice and helpful. A nice, quiet, laid-back get-a-way near Floyd, Va. and Fairy Stone State Park. We would definitely stay there again.

Dutchie's View is a warm, inviting, clean little property in a beautiful setting; but that isn't what makes this a "must stay" in my opinion. Crystal & Patrick make the experience. They really "get it" when it comes to making their guests feel at home. The property & setting make Dutchie's View worth the stop. The hospitality of the owners makes it a place to return time and time again, whenever possible!

I was pleasantly surprised by the location, the view—and especially, the innkeepers. Patrick and Crystal were wonderful. I felt like I was a guest in their home not a customer.... It started the moment I got the confirmation email asking if there were any special dietary needs/concerns. I am on a gluten-free diet (which can be very difficult, especially at a B&B), and Crystal was more than accommodating to my needs. How wonderful!

If you are traveling down the Blue Ridge or anywhere in the vicinity of Floyd, this is a must stop. Great views. Great hosts. Superb breakfast. Don't pass this one by.

On a recent trip via The beautiful Blue Ridge Pkwy (NC & VA) we wanted a nice, reasonably priced,comfortable place to "hang our hat" overnight that was close to the Pkwy.. We were more than pleasantly surprised by the gracious, private & lovely accommodations provided by Patrick & Crystal Powell..The hosts were so warm & concerned with making our stay just perfect...even for one night,. The spacious rooms are gorgeously & luxuriously furnished ,delightful in appearance, extremely clean with wonderfully comfortable beds & linens & clean full bathrooms with thick, fluffy towels & a variety of personal grooming needs..The dining room is just beautiful & invites "getting to know you" meals with other guests...The food is delicious,plentiful,& freshly & expertly prepared with personal attention from the hostess Crystal. The day we were there we had a bountiful & yummy breakfast with great coffee (that they have blended esp. for their inn) fresh juices, fruits, cereals, tasty freshly baked muffins & breads, fresh eggs & thick flavorful bacon, amongst other delectable choices...prepared just "as you like it"!!! We were full & happy! The living room was comfy & encouraged relaxation & the porch chairs outside that just invited rocking & taking in the wonderful mountain views...Dutchie is a friendly dog that really makes you feel right at home along with their other little one.. An extra bonus is their close location to the little town of Floyd, that is chock full of wonderful shops,art galleries,a great old-fashioned Mercantile store & an old -fashioned General Store where live Bluegrass music just invites you to "sit a spell".. All in all, we certainly had a wonderful time at Dutchies & we're quite sure you'll find it weel worth stopping by for good old fashioned hosptality & a great night's sleep! As our first experience with a B&B, we found the owners eager to help with all our needs and questions. Breakfast was excellent and the atmosphere was great. The room were all clean and comfortable. The only thing that was needed was a better enterance for guest that have a hard time with steps. The first step wa a little to high, but not excessively so. Surrounded by beautiful mountains. Only 10 minutes away from an amazing Italian restaurant. Extremely clean but home feeling at the same time. Incredible breakfast. I can't say anything bad about it!

Was disappointed that our room did not have a TV. Loved the dogs, but people who are allergic or who don't want to live with dogs could be uncomfortable. Host and hostess were extremely helpful and hospitable, couldn't ask for better service. Room was nicely decorated and very clean, but no closet space for clothes. Needed another chair in the room . . . only one place to sit down. Breakfast room was beautiful and inviting, very comfortable with delicious breakfast served with professional presentation and charm. VIEW WAS BEAUTIFUL FROM EVERY WINDOW!

A wonderful gem of a B & B. The hosts are fantastic and make you feel as if you were in your own home--except that they are doing the work and you are just relaxing and enjoying the serenity, the scenery, the fabulous and unending breakfast, and the great company. This was our second visit and we are looking forward to a third!

The food is great, best breakfast ever! Nice rooms with comfortable beds and upscale linens. Very quiet and secluded, but easy to find. If you need modern conveniences, there is WiFi, satellite TV and good cellular reception at the inn. Patrick and Crystal are wonderful hosts and animal lovers. Two well-behaved dogs and a little cat are often in the common areas, never near the bedrooms. We'd definitely go again.

During our stay at Dutchies View Bed & Breakfast we were greeted with such friendliness and helpfulness. Even their dogs greeted us like they were telling us "Welcome!" Our room was just outstanding and clean. The breakfasts were delicious which included homemade breads and jams. The view was fantastic and the other guests were friendly too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dutchies View B&B. We selected this B&B based on their love of puppy dogs and close proximity to where we wanted to go. We couldn't have selected a better B&B, especially for the price! Crystal and Patrick were wonderful hosts, and we enjoyed their two pups, Daisy and Dutchies. We also enjoyed meeting other guests. This was a very pleasant experience, the room was perfect, the view is spectacular, and the surrounding area is wonderful! In visiting rural southwest Virginia, my fiancee and I stayed for two nights at the rustic and charming Dutchies View Bed & Breakfast in the tiny town of Woolwine. Dutchies View Bed & Breakfast is a special, single-story ranch-style inn that offers exceptional value, clean and comfortable lodging, delicious breakfasts, and genuine "down-home" hospitality. Its setting provides a fantastic panoramic view of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. There are two Adirondack chairs facing the mountain, hammocks under shady trees behind the inn for you to enjoy, and rocking chairs on the front porch. The inn's owners, Patrick and Crystal, are excellent hosts who make you feel "right at home" and take good care of you. They have two dogs, Dutchie and Daisy, who are very friendly - just like their owners. Breakfast is served each morning from 8 to 10 a.m. (a flexible time frame that was much appreciated), and we were asked how we would like our eggs cooked. If the weather is good, the dining room opens up to a breathtaking view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is a small refrigerator containing soft drinks in the dining room, and you can make coffee and tea. The Celestial Slumber Room was very cozy with its king-sized beds, air conditioning, TV, and private bath - an excellent choice. Dutchies View Bed & Breakfast is a terrific launching pad for exploring the neighboring towns (particularly Floyd with its unique shops, pavilion, and general country store - check it out on a Friday evening when there is a jamboree night), the Blue Ridge Parkway (less than 10 miles away), parks, and wineries. From Floyd, it is a 12 mile journey to Dutchies View along a well-paved road (Route 8) that twists and turns along farmland and wooded areas. The signage for the inn is clear, and there is a short gravel road that leads to the inn. Dutchies View Bed & Breakfast is a great escape and highly recommended!

Nice rooms, very quiet on farm like setting overlooking the mountains. Rural. Not alot of places to go to eat or shop, but the host was more than charming and helpful. Breakfast was bountiful. Close to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Our room was great and having an ensuite bathroom was even better. We have stayed in many B&B's, and Dutchies definitely ranks as a favorite. You couldn't ask for a better host and hostess than Patrick and Crystal. They were very accommodating. The breakfast was outstanding -- they are both wonderful cooks. We can't wait to visit again. The views would be wonderful any time of year.

The perfect place for me. I felt cared-for, at home, and all around were the quiet mountains of my youth and an inn embraced by natural harmony. I enjoyed every aspect, including the graciousness of the innkeeper and the soft fur and tail wagging of the guest services personnel (Dutchie and the Couch Potato.) Until I return -- and I certainly will -- thank you Patrick, for all you did.

I just looked at the website pictures and decided to give this B&B a try. Wow, was it a great discovery! Crystal & Patrick were so friendly and made us feel like we were old friends within minutes. The view is beautiful.. the breakfast was delicious. It was cooked to order, when you wanted it and exactly how you liked it. You could eat with the other guests or at your own time. The homemade bread and jams were delicious! We loved it!

Our visit was a combination late Birthday/Thanksgiving celebration. From the time that we entered the inn we felt immediately welcomed and comfortable. A speciality package had been ordered for my birthday and I emphasis the word special....from the beautiful roses and gift basket in my room to the wealth of information and recommendations of what to see and where to eat only added more to a wonderful weekend. Visiting Innkeepers Patrick and Crystal is like being with old friends and we look forward to another trip in the future.

Dutchies View B&B provides all of the elements of an outstanding, memorable Bed and Breakfast experience..whether you are there for 1 night or 2 weeks! It is not just the fabulous view, the comfort of the rooms, the cozy sitting room/porches, the great breakfast options or the friendliness of the hosts (Crystal and Patrick) - but when you combine them all into one package.....it is a winner. We highly recommend this location along your B&B travels!

We had a group trip to Woolwine, in Oct. The weather turned out to be very cold, but we had a great adventure. This was possible due to the hospitality and location of the Dutchies View B&B. The owners are wonderful, Breakfast was excellent, and the location and view was unreal. The road to the B&B was the best motorcycle road of the weekend and made the BRP look like a straight away. Thanks again, and we would look forward to staying again....

Wonderful hosts; like family…great views; a great porch for afternoon lemonade...delicious food…beautiful rooms…a great get-away but lots to do in the surrounding area…we wouldn’t change a thing!

Based on the glowing reviews of this B&B that I read here I booked a 4-night stay over the Labour Day Weekend during my 2-week tour of the spectacular Blue Ridge Parkway. I have to say that I agree with everything positive that has been said...and then some! You could not ask for two better hosts than Patrick and Crystal...along with their sometime helpers, Dutchie and Daisy :-) The rooms are clean, cozy, and comfortable; the breakfasts are tasty and filling; and the view is truly to die for. The atmosphere is always relaxed, and conversations with the hosts and other guests a joy. If you're travelling the Blue Ridge Parkway (or even if you aren't) then don't by-pass this hidden gem. Highly recommended!

We stayed at Dutchie's View during FloydFest weekend. The innkeepers are warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. They were also flexible by letting us store a birthday treat in the inn's kitchen! We enjoyed our room, the stunning scenery, and the breakfast each morning was a delight. I took some friends to the Winery and stayed with Patrick and Crystal, what a fantastic weekend. We had a blast and have never felt more at home in a B&B. I am looking forward to my next visit with them.

We had an excellent stay at Dutchies. There is a pretty view of the mountains and rolling hillsides. The room we stayed in had a king-sized bed which was very comfortable and very clean. All in all, no complaints whatsoever. Also, the breakfasts were delicious and the hosts are so nice. We would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in the country.

My wife and I were looking for a nice quiet get away plus the ability to do a little site seeing. The picture of the B&B on the website does not do it justice. The inn itself is a horseshoe with the rooms at one end the setting rooms (2) in the middle and the dinning and kitchen at the other. Attached to the dinning area is a deck that over sees a very green area, line with trees. The inn was full while we were there, so the deck was being used for social activities as well as relaxing. Within the horseshoe is a full covered porch, extending from one end to the other. On the porch were at least 6 rocking chairs with small side tables. To the left back of the inn are 2 chairs which over look the mountains (where the wife and I enjoyed a couple of quiet moments). When we arrived we were greeted by Dutchies one of the inn's dogs. She then walked us back to the inn where we meet Patrick and Crystal the owners. They were very out going and helpful. Breakfast was very pleasant, and the table settings were first class. To cap off our stay (July 3 and 4), Patrick put on a great fireworks show, lasting about 30 minutes, of course this was a special event and not a usual weekend event. Over all, if your looking for a quiet getaway, as well as a place to socialize, great food, very nice rooms, outstanding views and of course innkeepers(s) that enjoy what they do, this is the place. Looking forward to going back soon.

Over the past two years my wife and I have had the unique pleasure of staying at “Dutchies” on three occasions and each time it was a real treat. The Inn has a wonderful front porch, beautiful mountain vistas, lovely rooms and a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The innkeepers - Patrick and Crystal - are knowledgeable on local attractions, great cooks, and just plain fun to be around. Give “Dutchies" a try – you’ll be glad you did!

My Husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Dutchies View B&B. I have always worried about staying at a Bed and Breakfast since I have an allergy to gluten, but Patrick and Crystal prepared gluten free pancakes and waffles for me. Crystal even told me about a place in Floyd where I could get gluten free foods. The view is beautiful. I can’t wait to go back!

We stayed here while on vacation and we were a little taken back by the lack of upkeep on the property. Lots of over growth from weeds. The flower beds, sides of drive and outdoor rec areas all had weeding that needed attention. Daisy & Dutchies (inn keepers dogs) both greeted us when we arrived. However taking us both by surprise with raised back hair but after getting to know us a little better they warmed up completely. I'm sure they were just protecting Crystal as she was the only one there at the time. The inn and rooms were absolutely stunning. The bed, linens and bath towels were the softest I've felt in a long time....softer than ours at home! Dessert was soooo yummy. Homemade apple pie and vanilla ice cream! Breakfast was absolutely delicious and made from scratch when we came to the dinning area. Fresh fruit, lemon ginger pancakes, eggs, bacon and freshly brewed coffee. All in all a pleasant experience just watch for doggy surprise in the yards.

We were very sorry that the grounds maintenance was not up to par of what is normally well kept. It has since had a lot of maintenance as we were able to spend more time there due to cooler weather. I am not sure in reference to cleanliness rating being so low as there were no specifics however we always keep a really clean Inn, and make sure that things are as well maintained as possible. As for the dogs, they do bark and Dutchie can look a little intimidating however they are as docile as a cat and love to have visitors. We try and maintain a very cozy atmosphere as well as comfortable lodging for an affordable price, and feel we accomplish just that.

Due to the death of my sister in law from Ferrum, my family and I stayed at Dutchies View. The warmth and hospitality of Crystal and Patrick made a sad event easier for us all. Everyone's room (5 rooms total) was attractive, comfortable and clean. I was especially happy with the king sized 4 poster bed in my room, and the view was spectacular!! The food was excellent! They have a wonderful house coffee that everyone enjoyed along with our evening deserts. Everyone remarked on how much Dutchies View felt like home. Before we left, Crystal took a picture of us all, and she printed copies for each of us. I'm looking forward to my next stay in the fall when the festival is on at Ferrum College. Thanks again Crystal and Patrick for everything you did for us!

Stayed there last weekend (March 15) and had a great visit. Very clean rooms, 2 sweet dogs to play with, and great food! The view is amazing!!! There are also some neat places close by to eat and visit. Patrick and Crystal are great innkeepers!

This was our first experience with a B&B. We are now hooked, thanks to Crystal & Patrick! We came to Dutchie's on a quick, unplanned getaway! We acutally found them on a getaway package offered by Chateau Morrisette, a local vineyard. They were able to accomodate us on a short notice, which was great! Crystal was most helpful with anything that we asked, including directions to our dinner reservations at the vineyard. They made everything so simple and easy from even before check in to past check out! Crystal & Patrick have thought of everything that a guest would need in thier inn. It seemed that we were houseguests instead of staying in a business! They had everything taken care of .....including a (complementary) fully stocked guest fridge. The sheets were so soft it was hard to get out of bed! The wonderful breakfast (cooked to order pancakes, eggs & bacon) that Patrick prepared made up for that!! We wish that we had more time because the view was absolutely wonderful!!! Also, it is worth mentioning that check out is at 11 but they allow you to stay and soak up the view until you can pry yourself away..which is REALLY hard to do!! We WILL be back!! Twelve of us reserved a wine/tour package and chose Dutchies View as our B&B. Thank goodness we did! The rooms were clean & beautiful, food was delicious and we cannot say enough about Crystal & Patrick. They went above & beyond to make us comfortable. We are already planning our next stay.

We went to Dutchies View for Thanksgiving. We had a great couple of days and a fine dinner with all the trimmings. Patrick and Crystal were great hosts.

This past weekend was my second stay at Dutchies View. Crystal and Patrick are the nicest innkeepers I have ever met. It is very easy to feel right at home. We went to the Floyd Country Store on Friday night and the music was great! We will be back soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dutchies View. The area is wonderful the the Wineries are a must visit. Patrick and Crystal are very nice and take good care of their guests. Thanks for a great weekend!

We've been staying at Dutchies View for many years, however this was our first vist with Crystal and Patrick. They proved to be wonderful, gracious hosts. The rooms are chaming and breakfast both days was delicious. Daisy and Dutchie (the inn's dogs) are friendly and fun to watch and play with. We'll be back!

As my dad's health continues to fail he wanted to see the area around Stuart. Dutchies B&B was recommend, and was a wonderful choice. The view from different area's on the grounds, and Crystal and Patrick were very caring and very helpful in keeping the whole trip a surprise for my dad. He had a WONDERFUL time, and all our pictures and memories are smiles and treasures. Crystal and Patrick's special touch in their homemade meals and their effort to make anything you need possible was just what we wanted and received!!!!!!!!!!!

I have stayed at numerous Bed and Breakfast and this one was the best. We celebrated my girlfriends Birthday and had a very enjoyable time. I will definately be back for a visit. Food was great and the rooms were spotless and the service was outstanding.

We enjoyed the friendlyness and congenial atmasphere. The area is very beautiful. Hope to return.

Innkeepers' hospitality was warm and friendly. Food was delicious. Scenery is fantastic. All of our needs and requests were taken care of immediately. We will stay there again!

We had a great time. The innkeepers are so nice. We stayed there on a Friday night and went up the road to the Floyd Country Store and enjoyed the Friday nite bluegrass music with several hundred others. It was a blast!

Extremely friendly host, delicious food. Nice clean rooms.
