This was our first experience with a B&B so we were going on recommendations from others. The inn was as promised on the website while the service was exceptional. The breakfast times were adjusted to meet our schedule and the meals were superb. We hope to return next year.

We had a very pleasant stay. We had the Study which was warm and relaxing. We found out about a unique tree that has interesting fruit that the squires love and it looks like brains. The town is nice place to take walks and the people are very friendly. The Inn is some place that I would recommend and would stay there again if I that way again. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

    Innkeeper Response
yes, we have a beautiful 200-year-old Osage Orange tree in the Inn yard, and everyone is fascinated by it. The fruits are called hedge apples and kids call them "monkey brains". Our guests love to relax in the yard or on the garden terrace spring through fall.

Stayed at the Inn several weekends ago, beautiful house, could use some TLC, proprietors were very nice and presented us with a wonderful breakfast the next day, breakfast hours could be extended, currently 8:30 to 9:30. Room was beautiful with period furniture and a lovely private balcony, large enough to have several guests over for wine. We utilized the fire place, which was a lovely source of heat and romance, however, after 2 hours of having a fire without incident, the room, and the whole upstairs area of the house filled with smoke, soliciting guests out of their rooms at 1:15 AM, the entire Winchester FD showed up, WOW, what an exciting evening, finally was able to jump into bed at approx. 2:40 AM. Big shock was that upon checkout we were charged the full amount for the room, no discount offered, no offer of a discounted rate for future visits, etc. Given the fact that we did NOTHING to initiate the smoke, turned out to be the heavy winds, you would have thought that Top Notch Customer Service would include a discount on checkout or a discounted future stay, oh well, will most likely not visit this location again, entirely because of this customer service flaw.

    Innkeeper Response
We appreciate very much the positive comments about the Inn, and we're sorry that these guests were not completely satisfied. Excessively high winds caused a back draft to occur in the chimney, which then caused a lot of smoke to pour into the room and upstairs hallway. This set off the fire alarm, which are connected to the fire department. After the initial chaos and noise the fireman arrived within minutes and the alarms were silenced. 4 firemen came into the house, while the rest checked the chimney from the outside. This couple had gone into the sunroom, so we took their glasses of wine into them, and they seemed to be taking it in stride. We then offered to move them to another room, where they would not have had the smoke smell and they could unwind in private and relax, or go to bed. They turned down this offer. The 4 firemen who did the clean up were courteous and made minimal disturbance, and the other couple staying with us told us the next morning that they were able to go back to sleep once the alarms were turned off. This incident was very distressing to us, because we strive to make our guests as comfortable as possible, but we felt offering this couple another room would have minimized their discomfort. We also did tell them to come to breakfast the next day as late as they wanted to. We hope future guests will understand that when something is in our control, or if we are negligent in any way, we certainly offer compensation to our guests. For the past 7 years we have built our business on providing superior customer service and attention, which the following reviews attest to (as well as the reviews on Tripadvisor)
