The T.V.was very small and with us being in our 70"s it was hard to see. We would of loved to had another chair because with two people in the room it is hard sitting on the bed when you retire for the evening at our age. Other then these two things we enjoyed our stay. Thanks!!!
3.8 out of 5Memorial Weekend Visit
June 09, 2013
During our recent visit, we stayed in the Richneck room. The room was on the small side, but it was a lovely weekend with so much to do, so we didn’t spend much time in the room. The location of the Inn is in the historic old town and is perfect if you are visiting either the Market Square shops or Colonial Williamsburg. The lemonade and cookies in the common area are a nice touch after a couple of hours of sightseeing. The room had nice comfy robes, lots of fresh towels, and a great breakfast. The room was quiet for its location near the common room, but we did hear the staff setting up for breakfast in the morning. Not a lot of guests showed up for breakfast so there appeared to be plenty of food. We had no complaints with our recent stay, but some recommendations. The vents in the rooms and common areas should be cleaned. There was noticeable dirt and grime around the vents. The only seating chair in the room appeared dirty perhaps from use as a luggage rack. Another sturdy chest for luggage and a smaller, more comfortable chair for seating would improve the room. The TVs are creatively located in hand-made bird houses, but they are dated, small and difficult to view from the bed. The bathroom mirror is mounted very high which is fine if you’re tall, but not so great if you’re not. Maybe a mirror that swivels up and down would accommodate all guests (including children). The ice machine was broken and there is no staff on duty after 4pm to report it to. We were going to use the Fife & Drum parking lot, but the concrete parking stops were all askew making parking difficult in an already overflowing lot. Our visit was on a Sunday and Monday, which was a holiday, so parking on the street was not an issue. We like this Inn for its location. We will visit again.

We stayed for two nights in the Hitchens room at the Fife and Drum Inn. We would have stayed longer if rooms would have been available. Everything about our stay was wonderful. The owner was very accommodating and helpful. He helped us carry our luggage in, made dinner reservations for us and spent time helping us to decide which attractions to see and when to see them. The breakfasts that were served had a very nice variety and were hot and delicious. The coffee was great!! Our room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet. The Inn is located on the perimeter of Colonial Williamsburg so we were able to walk wherever we wanted to go. I would highly recommend the Fife and Drum Inn. You will be glad that you stayed there.
4.8 out of 5Bacon every day...
May 31, 2013
We came down from Wash, DC by train and walked to the Bed & Breakfast. It was easy to find and right by all the shops/restaurants. The purpose of our trip was for my girlfriend's birthday & ultimately, engagement. The B&B reps had flowers and champagne on the ready for us. They even went out of their way to take use through the map of Williamsburg of where to go & when to go there (avoid crowds). And I have to mention, they even booked us at the 2 best restaurants in town a month before we arrived (our favorite ... Fat Canary). Highly recommend "the Conservatory" room with the little clawed tub in middle of the room. Oh, and she said, "Yes!"

The William and Mary Room features a luxurious fully draped queen size four-poster bed and hand-painted floor. Maybe you were lucky enough to grow up in a place rich with history. If so, you can understand how the children of Williamsburg often feel like they are in a Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys adventure. Their woodland explorations can yield artifacts, perhaps leading to the discovery of a long-lost historic site. The Richneck Room features a display of 17th, 18th and 19th century artifacts from just such a childhood expedition, resulting in the location and excavation of the 17th century Richneck Plantation. The Plantation was founded by settlers who broke away from the original Jamestown colony, but o

5 out of 5Fall in Line Behind the Fife and Drum
May 27, 2013
In addition to the best location in Williamburg (in Merchant's Square, steps away from Colonial Williamsburg in one direction and the College of William and Mary in the other) this fine establishment boasts modern rooms with colonial furnishings and a friendly and accommodating staff. We have stayed here numerous times during our son's career at the College, and it always has been a delight!
3.6 out of 5Great location
May 26, 2013
Fife and Drum is within walking distance to all the attractions of Colonial Williamsburg, restaurants, and shopping. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Breakfast consisted of a hot casserole, biscuits with ham or bacon and granola along with fruit, coffee, tea, etc. Not quite as lavish as some of the other inns we have visited but delicious nonetheless. Would have appreciated more interaction with owners as to their recommendations for tours, dinners, etc. We were shown to our room and then left to our own devices. The next morning we again had breakfast and left to find our own way. Not a big problem but we always enjoy chatting with the owners and hearing their recommendations since they ususally know the area so well.
4.8 out of 5Lovely B&B in central location
May 20, 2013
This is a charming B&B in a great location, you are literally steps from Colonial Williamsburg. The room we had was the George Washington, it was immaculately clean with a mega comfortable king size bed and a massive shower. Billy the owner made us feel very welcome right down to the help yourself cookies. Breakfast was fine. I would recommend anyone thinking of a stay in Williamsburg to stop here. PS try the Dog Street Pub for lunch or dinner & drinks.
