Room was next to the kitchen and you could hear breakfast preperations. The sink in bathroom was fitted into a corner and mirror was on flat wall next to it, made it awkward for shaving. Overall the room was very nice.

We booked a romantic getaway with my boyfriend in the Concervancy. The canopied bed was breathtaking, room is small (well you expect it in this historic property), but the shower was huge and modern. Nice bedding and impeccable towels. The bath tub in the room is a unique touch, and we really wanted to use it, but it did take miracles of flexibility. The tub is really small even for one person, and if it wasn't for my bf's workouts and my yoga sessions - there is no way that would be possible. Billy is very hospitable and helpful, gives great advice on what to do in town. I would appreciate a little bit more variety at breakfast (one day it was bread pudding as main dish, no eggs, and I don't like to eat sweet things for breakfast, so I was a bit upset). They do provide free parking which is such a huge help! There are great places to eat and shop just across the street. Overall very impressed. My bf said that from now on I will be the one always choosing the hotels for us to stay in, and that says a lot!

Saying that our room overlooks Wm and Mary was a stretch. The hosts are very pleasant and friendly, the B&B is quite comfortable. Overall would recommend.

I booked Fife & Drum for our college tour of William and Mary.. This was a great B&B. The breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. I would stay here again if I am ever in Williamsburg again.

Could not have ask for a more comfortable stay. Room, service and location were excellent. The price was more than reasonable for what we received. Me and my wife would not think about staying anywhere else in Williamsburg. We did not want to leave and can't wait to return.

My husband and I really enjoyed staying at the Fife & Drum Inn. We chose it due to its wonderful location in the Colonial Williamsburg Merchant Square area, but were equally happy with the rooms, breakfast, and helpful & friendly owner, Billy Scruggs. Did I mention how quiet it was?! The Inn is an easy walk to everything....... including the college of William & Mary - witch is a great place to start an early morning walk while waiting for breakfast to be served. The breakfast exceeded my expectations. When I read it would be buffet-style, I imagined slightly warmed, typical breakfast foods........ not so! Very delicious, warm, 'comfort-breakfast foods' like cinnamon bread pudding and frittata, biscuits and fruit awaited us - all very good and hearty! p.s. cookies and lemonade 24/7!

The Fife and Drum is a great place to stay in the heart of Williamsburg. It is clean, the owners are friendly and the breakfast was good. The always available snacks and drinks were a nice touch. We enjoyed our time there and would go back again.

My daughter and I stayed at the Fife & Drum for 2 nights in March 2013. It was our second trip to Williamsburg and our second stay at this lovely inn. The location cannot be beat (for both Colonial Williamsburg and the College of William & Mary) and the owners and staff are so friendly and kind. Very comfortable, attractive inn. We love the Fife & Drum and highly recommend it!

This was my second stay and the Fife & Drum Inn, and it was just as amazing as the first. The location is unbeatable (within walking distance to all Col. Williamsburg attractions) but what really made it special was Billy. He went out of his way to provide good advice and even made all our dinner bookings for us.

My wife and I spent two nights at the F&D and plan on going back. Conveniently located to Colonial Williamsburg and the College of W&M, as well as in the midst of numerous restaurants and shopping, the Inn is very quiet, clean, and enjoyable. No need to worry about parking. The owner was very helpful in terms of restaurant and sightseeing recommendations. The breakfast was fine. There is also a wonderful coffeshop right next door that is open late. We had a great time and plan on returning.

Our stay was so homey! We had all the privacy of a hotel but with the personal hospitality and friendliness of a b&b. perfectly located, perfectly staffed. We felt right at home!

We have stayed at the Fife and Drum dozens of times. WE LOVE IT! It is very quiet and relaxing and the service is excellent. Every time we make reservations to stay there, my husband immediately says "I can't wait to eat their breakfast buffet!". The location could not be better. There are tons of things to do and see right outside the front door. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful little B&B! The rooms were clean, quaint and perfect size. Walking distance to all colonial Williamsburg has to offer. Owner and staff were fantastic and really helped get you around. Great value. Would definitely stay there again.

The stay at the Fife and Drum was really fun. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was outstanding. The layout was very unique and very cute. The hall was made to look like a street with doors to individual homes (rooms). The only thing that was a bit of a surprise was that the entire B & B is up a flight of stairs. So, just be ready to take luggage up - but they will assist. Would stay here again in a minute!!!!!

Perfect location for visitors to Colonial Williamsburg. Off-street reserved parking available right around the corner. No need to drive anywhere. The owner, Billy, will be happy to provide suggestions on what to see and do if you ask. The Inn in on the second floor, and stairs are the only way to get up there. However, Billy offered to help my wife and I with our bags when we arrived and when we were leaving, so help will be available for those who might need it. Jamestown room was clean and cozy. Breakfast offerings exceeded expectations, but there are plenty of other places to eat breakfast right outside the door of the Inn if you want to get a more substantial meal. We would definitely stay here again!

Billy had very helpful recommendations and made our stay much better. I would highly recommend staying here.

I would suggest placing a second chair in the room so both of us could sit, drink coffee, etc.

What is not to like? The room was excellent, the breakfast was excellent and the location is outstanding - a quick walk and you are in the thick of it all! Perhaps the best part for us was the graciousness of our hosts - in talking to both of them I realized that our exploration of Williamsburg had already begun as they each would tell us some of the back stories in such a way that you feel you are talking to historians! Anyway, delightful visit and a highly recommend. Grab the room with the gate if you can!

We spent one night at this Bed and Breakfast; it was very relaxing and the staff was top notch!

For anyone visiting the college or the historical district, this B&B is perfect in all respects. They have parking and you won't have to move your car the whole time you're here. The rooms are beautifully furnished, the breakfast is delicious, and the hosts helpful and accommodating. Don't hesitate to book this one.

This is a great B&B in downtown Williamsburg so its walking distance to just about everything. We parked the car and didnt move until we left. Nice breakfast and very accomodating. Highly recommend!

Great little place in the heart of old town and in walking distance to many things. A great escape and a great place by which to do just that. The accomodations where better than expected and the staff were like family. It truest felt like staying at home. Thank you!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our three-day stay at the Fife and Drum. It is situated in the historic area of Williamsburg and is within walking distance of all Colonial Williamsburg events. The breakfasts were very tasty and the proprietors are most knowledgeable about Williamsburg and the surrounding area. I would definitely stay there on a return visit.

Great location, perfect size for a small family! Very friendly and accommodating Inn Keepers, we arrived late because of traffic and they followed their posted late arrival policy to a T. The Drummer's Cottage far exceeded our expectations. The proximity to the Colonial area and Merchant's Square can not be beat. We have stayed at other similar priced hotels on earlier visits to Williamsburg and were never as happy as we were on this trip at the Fife and Drum Inn.

The Fife & Drum is an outstanding B&B with some big hotel amenities without being big. The location is superlative and the service for us was a perfect blend of taking care of us and privacy.

We stayed at the Fife and Drum Inn, specifically in the Drummers Cottage. The location is great - between the colonial area and William and Mary. Walk to everything. The innkeepers are extremely friendly and helpful. The cottage is very clean, and cutely laid out and furnished. The configuration is a beautiful master bedroom with a very comfortable king-size bed, 2 built in bunk beds in an alcove off the hallway, and a main sitting area/entry room with a pull out couch. The bathroom is very clean and roomy, though there is only one - and the shower and toilet are together, so if someone's showering, others may have to 'wait.' The sink, with large vanity, is outside the shower/toilet room. There is not a tub. Visitors in the cottage do not get the 'breakfast' part of the B&B. They deliver pastries each day (we had tiny blueberry muffins, and slices of what seemed like Entennmann's pastry), and there is coffee and tea in the cottage to make, like in a hotel. NOTE: the coffee maker is tiny - like in a hotel...for a party of 5 adult women - this was not enough!. Fortunately, there is a great coffee shop called Aroma's just steps away, that serves good coffee, as well as a selection of breakfast goodies, on up to full breakfast platters. (Aroma's also does lunch and dinner - everything we had there was good). Definitely recommend.

This was our third stay at the Fife and Drum Inn, and we will return next time we're in Williamsburg. Owners Billy and Sharon are a wealth of information about both "old" and "new" Williamsburg, having both grown up here, and their appreciation for the history of the town and its restoration is infectious. The Inn is located within walking distance of the restored area, the College of William and Mary, and lots of great shopping, and its location is the reason we keep going back. The rooms are nice and well decorated, and the common area/dining room is spacious and beautiful. The Fife and Drum Inn is a great place to stay in Colonial Williamsburg!

This B&B is so close to Colonial Williamsburg and Market Square we were able to park our car on Sunday and didn't need it again until packing up to head home. The innkeeper, Billy, always has lots of great hints of where to eat and ideas of what to see if you are looking for something a little different. Breakfast was always warm and yummy with plenty of coffee. I also recommend the lemonade (available all day) and a game of checkers in the common area. Lots of little touches made it a nice place to stay.

The Fife and Drum is ideally located near Colonial Williamsburg. We arrived on Friday, parked in their lot , and did not have to drive again until we left on Sunday. The rooms are very comfortably furnished and the breakfast is quite good. Their coffee could be a bit stronger to suit our taste, but a small negative for a very pleasant and well loctaed establishment..

This was our first Bed and Breakfast experience. We were pleasantly surprised by the welcoming staff and clean rooms, however, the rooms are starting to show wear and tear. Our bed post had a post topper missing, the candle stick light fixture on the wall was cracked and dangling in need of simple repair. The amenities were delightful but not restocked after our first night, which was annoying since we packed light for a quick two night stay. The location of the Fife and Drum can't be beat! It was so nice to make a quick run back to our rooms to change or drop off shopping bags without trying to negotiate parking and wasting time traveling to a hotel. If we return to Williamsburg and I can find a deal on this Inn again, we will stay there .

The central location of Fife & Drum in Williamsburg can't be beat...and the owners are very helpful and interested making their clients' visit rewarding.

We met two other couples who we had not seen for 20 years at the Fife and Drum. It was the perfect place. Within walking distance of wonderful restaurants and the historical district. The staff accommodated us in every way which made our stay and our reunion better than we could have expected. We already knew it had wonderful character and history with each room decorated in a unique way. To my surprise, the rooms were very quiet even with the traffic nearby. There was easy loading and unloading of luggage and assigned parking for guests. There are several steps to go up and down at the entry so if you have special needs I would call ahead.

The Fife and Drum Inn was everything it should be - friendly, welcoming, clean, and comfortable. It's located in a prime area of downtown Williamsburg, and I would stay there again if I wanted to be close to downtown.

The Fife and Drum was beautiful, comfortable, quiet, convenient, and the staff was wonderful! Rhonda kept the place very clean and provided delicious breakfasts. Billy was a gracious, genteel host, very helpful, and always ready to provide recommendations and suggestions for sites and restaurants. We would definitely go back!

The location, just off the Williamsburg Historic area, was super. We enjoy walking to the attractions. The owners recommended restaurants nearby in Merchants Square, rather than in the Historic area. We agree, Berrets, The Trellis, Mad Dog, and Seasons, were a cut above our single meal in the Historic Area. Based upon the location, cost, and rooms, we will return again.

Excellent bed and breakfast with a location that cannot be beat!

We loved the Fife and Drum Inn. The location is absolutely perfect, but the owners go above and beyond to meet their guests needs. The rooms are lovely with decent sized bathrooms for a b & b. Breakfast was only served from 8am-9am each day, but it was a very limited buffet. A hot casserole, fruit salad, bacon and wonderful biscuits. I do have a few suggestions. The pillows in our room were rather limp and there was only a nightstand and lamp on one side of the bed. Finally there was limited space in the bathroom to set your toiletries. We loved the inn and will return when we are next in town. It was so nice to park our car in the Fife and Drum lot and easily walk to Colonial Williamsburg and to the College of William and Mary. We went to the wonderful Farmers Market Saturday morning and easily take our purchases back to our room. We had dinner at the Trellis, again so convenient.

Our room was an unusual shape and as such it was not well set out as the other rooms. The Inn was quiet on our last night and we were able to look at the other romms that were beautifully set out. The breakfast was disappointing. There was no toast nor an egg in any guise to be seen. But what we were given which was probably traditional to that part of the country was well prepared.

If one is considering a visit to historic Williamsburg one could not find a more convenient location to stay than the Fife & Drum Inn. Located directly behind Market Square and just minutes off the main historic street, the Fife & Drum is a perfect location. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast served is more than adequate to provide energy for a morning's historic adventure. We are pleased that we discovered the Fife & Drum and look forward to other stays while exploring Williamsburg. Mike & Linda McGraw

We did not spend a lot of time in the room, so its little deficiencies (no place to leave one's towels to hang and dry; no bedside table on one side of the queen bed; not enough space for three people's toiletries in the bath) were insignificant compared to the wonderful owners, the great breakfasts, the common room where our families (9 of us total) could meet, gab, etc. The young man handling most of the breakfast service even moved up the time at which coffee appeared, when he noticed two of us looking for it earlier in the morning than originally expected. Do not hesitate to stay here!

Wonderful stay - had the Cedars Suite. Very relaxing. Breakfast is always something to look forward to at the Fife and Drum.

Excellent location, within walking distance of the historical district and William and Mary. A short drive to Jamestown and Yorktown. The room was very clean and comfy. It was also a short two block walk to my favorite store, Barnes and Noble. I enjoyed reading there and having my Chai Tea Latte. My wife and I were very pleased.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights over Labor Day weekend. We arrived after check-in, so our key cards were in an envelope marked with our names and taped to the door. Also in the envelope was a welcome letter including directions to our room and instructions about parking our car. We were able to explore the house (including all but one of the other rooms, which was occupied at the time.) The rooms and hallways were decorated very nicely in a colonial style (including having the TVs hidden in a "birdhouse" - so cute) The bathroom areas included a separate room each for the toilet, sink, and stone-tile shower. Very convenient and also decorated nicely. In the morning, we met the owner, who was super friendly and offered us help with planning our visit. The breakfast offered was simple, but delicious (bisquits and fresh fruit, as well as bacon, a quiche-like selection, a variety of cereals, and milk, orange juice, and coffee). There were chocolate chip cookies and lemonade available in the common room 24/7 (scrumptious!!). In the common room, there were the dining tables, a sofa and chairs, books and pamphlets about the area, history, and attractions, a flat-screen TV, and a checkers board. There were umbrellas available, also (which we were very thankful for on our last night, because it was pouring when we had to leave to walk to dinner at a local tavern). There was an ice machine and a back porch to sit on. It was also an extremely convenient location - only one block over from the Duke of Gloucester Street, which is the main street for the colonial events and buildings. Overall, we LOVED our stay at the Fife and Drum and plan to visit again. I said we need to come every year and stay in a different room each time until we experience them all!

Located right on the edge of Merchants' Square, adjacent to the WIlliam and mary campass and within a block of the restored area, the inn was perfect. We left our car in the hotel lot for the duration of our stay and easily walked everywhere. The host has lived in Williamsburg forever and so is a good guide to where to begin. Our room was very comfortable, quiet and COOL, with a lovely deep bath tub. The only caveat is that the inn is upstairs in a retail block so make sure your suitcase isn't too heavy!

Wonderful B&B and a marvelous staff. This was me and my Wifes 30th Anniversay so I wanted the weekend to be special- The Fife and Drum did not let me down. Billy provided a personalized stay with dinner reservations, wine and flowers in the room, etc. His superlative descriptions of what to do and see made the weekend complete. We go to Williamsburg frequently for short getaway's and we still saw and learned things we didn't know about the area. I recomend the Fife and Drum to anyone looking for a quiet private place to getaway to and relax.

Extremely well situated for exploring Williamsburg and close to very smart shops and food outlets. Although we arrived within the designated check in times of 3 to 5pm there were no staff to greet us- an envelope stuck on the door had keys. We only found tea and coffee making facilities and general information via another guest. We also found the owner rather patronising to women (mother and daughter travelling together). Having said that, location and quality of rooms means I would thoroughly recommend it and would stay there again.

The B&B was so cute, SO clean, Billy was so helpful, and the location was great. 2 minute walk to Campus restaurants and Merchant's Square was right outside your door. Loved it.

This was our second visit to Fife and Drum. We love the quiteness,cleaniness and the convience to shopping and dining. Our out of town quest with us loved how the rooms were decorated. We would recommend Fife and Drum to others.

Our family (which consists of 2 college aged daughters, a 12 year old son, plus mom & dad) wanted to have a quick get away before the girls headed back to college. We decided to try something different. While my husband & I have stayed in numerous B&B's, it was all new for the kids! What a wonderful four days we had in the warm setting of this beautifully appointed inn. Sharon & Billy were wonderful and steered us to a perfect setting for our family. We stayed in two rooms across the hall from each other & it was PERFECT! During the day, we could keep the doors open and it felt like a rather large suite. We started each morning with a delicious breakfast with a good variety of items offered. You definitely got a great start to your day. Then, Billy & Sharon helped us make plans for the day. Being from Williamsburg themselves, they definitely know the highlights to hit, based on how many days your stay will include. We had fun filled days & evenings --- thanks to their advice. How wonderful it was to return to the inn after a long day at either Colonial Williamsburg or Busch Gardens to fresh baked cookies & lemonade each night! Not a single things was not well thought out and geared towards making the guests at the inn feel at home during their stay. We will definitely return to our "home away from home" in Colonial Williamsburg each time we travel to the area!

We live only 25 miles away but wanted to take a brief getaway for our anniversary. We were greeted cordially by our host, offered refreshments, and given information about local activities for the day, Then we were shown to our room. It was spacious, comfortable, and clean. The bath area was very well set up with a powerful shower, which was great after a hot day. Breakfast the next morning was delicious with many offerings. We'll stay here again, soon!

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely old B&B in Williamsburg. The location is the number one attribute. We just walked right out on the street of this lovely, historical old city. The Fife&Drum's decor matches the historically matches its city. We enjoyed the breakfasts and the warm welcome from Rhonda. Cookies and lemonade were offered as well as the loan of much needed umbrellas the weekend we were there. If we visit Williamsburg again, we will stay at the Fife&Drum.

The Fife and Drum Inn is in a great location-- walking distance to all of the Williamsburg attractions, shopping, and dining. Billy and Sharon, the innkeepers, were very helpful with suggestions for our visit-- things to see and do, dining options ,etc... Breakfast was great each morning-- a sweet or savory casserole that changed each day, fresh fruit , biscuits with Virginia ham, jam, granola, orange juice, coffee/ tea/ milk. Cookies, bagged chips, crackers, and lemonade available in the afternoons and evenings. We enjoyed our stay very much and would return to the Fife and Drum Inn.

Exactly as we expected! Passing through the Jamestown/Yorktown,Williamsburg areas, this B & B is in a very convenient central Williamsburg location. Easy to find, precise instructions regarding (local) off-site parking lot, very good restaurants steps from the front door, perfect for a stroll around the centre of this very pleasant town. Room, breakfast and hospitality were extremely good for our one night stay, would choose to stay again if ever in the area.

We had another enjoyable stay at The Fife and Drum. the staff is friendly and courteous. We felt like old friends on our arrival. Good, clean room; delightful ambience.

The Fife and Drum is now our most favorite B&B/Hotel (and we have stayed at quite a few!). Ideal historic location, very friendly and helpful, delicious food. The inn itself is cosy, clean, and beautifully restored. Our family (including my young son) really enjoyed it. We can't wait to go back!

The Fife and Drum was a perfect check for us in Williamsburg. It is literally a few steps from colonial Williamsburg. Restaurants, coffee shop, retail, are also on the same block. The room was large, clean and the bed comfortable. We were in the George Washington room and had a little noise from the adjacent stairway but really not a problem. As the rooms are on the second floor you do need to carry your bags up the stairs. Don't know how this would be with children but it was perfect for us, a 50 something couple, no kids with us. Innkeepers welcoming and kind. We will recommend Fife and Drum to our friends

My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary in Williamsburg, VA. We chose the Fife and Drum Inn because of the amazingly inexpensive room prices. I must say, that even though we didn't spend much money on our room, it looked and felt as if we spent $1,000 for a full week's vacation! The ammenities were great and the owners of the Inn were very friendly and made us feel at home. The only issue I had with the Fife and Drum Inn was their buffet breakfast they served in the morning. I believed the food selection wasn't quite to my liking. My husband, on the other hand, was a very big fan of the buffet. I think this criticiam is mostly one of personal taste in breakfast food and shouldn't reflect poorly on the Inn. Overall, the Fife and Drum Inn is a wonderful place to stay if you are seeking an intimate, money-saving place to stay in Williamsburg, VA. I highly recommend it to anyone and I hope other customers enjoy their stay as much as my husband and I did!

My husband had never taken an overnight trip away from our 2 year old triplets. We love Williamsburg and so we decided to sneak away for a night to celebrate our anniversary. There were a lot of hotels to choose from but Fife and Drum Inn was the best location. We had, had a terrible experience with a different Bed & Breakfast so were very weary. As soon as we walked in we felt relaxed and relieved! It was quaint and extremely clean! The staff is very sweet and accommodating! We did not have the opportunity to eat there however it smelled delicious! Highly recommend!

We stayed at The Fife & Drum Inn on our honeymoon & loved it so much, we came back when we celebrated our 1 year anniversary! It's in a great little area, just a short walk to anywhere in Colonial Williamsburg. It's always clean, cozy & romantic! Great customer service! Breakfast is always delicious! If you need to know anything just ask- Billy & Sharon can answer you! They know so much of the history of the area & just wonderful people to talk to! More amenities in the room than most 5-star hotels! My husband and I stopped at the Williamsburg Winery for a wine tasting on our way up & bought a small bottle of wine. The rooms have an ice bucket and 2 small drinking glasses in the room already, so that's what we used for our wine. We didn't finish it all our first night and when room service came & cleaned our room the next day they left us 2 wine glasses in addition to the 2 new regular drinking glasses usually in the room!! Just an example of the personal service they give you & the little things that make such a big difference!! If you're looking to stay somewhere in Williamsburg- look no further!

This was our third B&B experience. The room was nice but a bit sparsely furnished. We understand this is in keeping with the colonial era, but having two night stands, for instance, would've been nice. Also, a bit more lighting would have been helpful. The shower consisted of the hand-held style -- not really to our liking. The mirror in the bathroom was hung so high, it was impossible to apply make-up -- had to use the full-length mirror in the bedroom (which is where extra lighting would've been nice!). The room was nice and clean, though, as was all of the B&B! The service was excellent and ALL of the staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable! It was also nice to know that, no matter how many times we went somewhere in our car, we had a parking spot to come back to. Honestly, the only rather disappointing feature of our experience was the food. We were there for three breakfasts and the same thing was served two days in a row. The food was tasty -- it's just that the other B&B's we've visited served something new and different each day and that's what we were expecting. Fortunately, we liked the dishes that were served (they were "O.K."). If we hadn't, we would've gone without. Overall, it was a nice B&B and we enjoyed our stay. The location, right where "all the action is", is perfect! You can walk to oodles of attractions, shops and restaurants!

The Fife & Drum is right in downtown Williamsburg, steps from the historic park. It is convenient to some fine restaurants and pleasant coffee shops. My room was spacious and comfortable. The host was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. I would stay again.

Very helpful owner who sent us to the BEST place for dinner, and told us about other important events. The location was perfect, so that was a big, big plus. We could walk everywhere. The breakfast biscuits were very disappointing, especially for a "southern" experience.

Very warm and friendly people run this bed and breakfast. The breakfast was excellent with a special dish prepared each day. Cleanliness is outstanding. Rooms (at least the Washington) and bathroom is a little small but acceptable. The TV in the room is ancient and about a 12" with, of all things, a VIDEO TAPE recorder/player. Subscription to a variety of channels., although one does not spend a great deal of time in the room. Access to the Colonial area is within walking distance as well as bus stops. The bus is free. If we visit Williamsburg again, will we stay at the Fife and Drum. YES!

We were given a gift certificate by our children & decided it was time to use it. We couldn't have been happier with their choice. The owner of the Fife & Drum greeted us very warmly & even took our bags to our room. Parking is provided for their patrons in a lot around the corner. We loved our room....clean, historic and very comfortable. Breakfast was provided but we decided to "sleep in" during our stay and eat breakfast at one of the variious restaurants. We were very glad that everything was located within walking distance of the inn....and if it was not, we could use the buses provided throughout town. We firmly believe that when you start out in a good mood your vacation seems to stay that way. Thanks to our beginning at the Fife & Drum we had an extroadinary vacation. They are to be complemented. Fife & Drum Inn has the added advantage of providing dedicated parking for guests. Our room was very quiet. Access both to the Inn and the rooms is by card-swipe. The Inn's hospitality was truly superb!

The owners know the area inside-out and can easily recommend what to do in the area and the best way to go about doing it. They also possess a great knowledge of the local restaurants and where/when to go. Strongly recommend this place.

Billy is a great host, he knows what is happening around Williamsburg and will help make reservations or arrangments that will enhace your time in Williamsburg. The Fife & Drum is a nice facility that is close to Colonial Williamsburg, parking it tough.

We recently stayed at the Fife and Drum Inn while we visited Williamsburg and our daughter who is a student at William and Mary. Our room and the common room felt very homey. It allowed us space to visit with our daughter and relax while we enjoyed the colonial area. The location could not be more perfect! The breakfasts were delicious, the beds were very comfortable, and the hospitality by Billy and the staff was very warm for us, and our daughter. We would definitely stay here again!

This B&B is probably the best we have ever stayed in. The owners and staff were warm and welcoming as well as being very professional. The inn and rooms were large for a B&B, extremely clean and the attention to detail from check-in to room decorations was amazing. We will definately be back.

Perfect location for sightseeing Colonial Williamsburg and visiting the College of Wm & Mary, without the need for a car or taxi, each within a short 2 block walk. Room was very clean, well appointed with period furnishings. Breakfast was hot and filling. Proprietors were very knowledgable about local sightseeing options and college visits. Only concern was B&B signage is small and difficult to find. Would definitely stay here again.

This Inn was a great find. Excellent location, superbly clean rooms, and an excellent staff. The only thing that was lacking was the breakfast. Don't get me wrong, the food WAS really good (the coffee was really good too), but let me explain it like this. My wife and I love big breakfasts, and it was just lacking in choice/value. We ate there the first morning, but the second morning we ducked out to the diner next door. We weren't the only people staying at the inn to do that too. It really just comes down to your preference. Other than that, I'd recommend this place, if for anything else, for it's LOCATION. Excellent location compared to the shops/restaurants and historic location.

We have been going there foe about 5 years now. We try to go at least once a year and always stay at the Fife and Drum. It's very convenient to Colonial Williamsburg and many restaurants. The service is great and they are VERY accommodating, we've had to change reservations a couple of times. The breakfast the next morning is outstanding and more than you'd expect. We would recommend it to anyone and everyone!!!

We stayed three nights and had a fantastic time. Billy and Sharon were extremely helpful and got us reservations for the things we wanted to do. Their reccomendations were right on.

My wife and I have been staying at other B&B's in Williamsburg for several years. Most of them have put huge dents in our budgets. At Fife & Drum for a little more than half of what we would have spent at another B&B, we had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back. Service and Value are outstanding. Room was small and tv could have been a little bigger. While the room was very clean when we checked in after we took our showers the first night, a heavy mildew smell tended to come from the bathroom. Everything looked clean so I don't know if it was the pipes or not enough ventalation in the bathroom. It was not terrible but was not pleasant either. For the breakfast, some people probably love it, but my wife and I have dietary restrictions and could not eat very much of it but cannot penalize them for that. What we were able to eat it was ok but not spectacular by any means. Overall though, we can afford to stay there two times longer than other places for the same money so we will most definitely be back!

Absolute best place to stay in Williamsburg. Location can't be beat. right in the middle of Colonial Willimasburg and the College of William and Mary. Each room is unique and spacious. Billy and Sharon are quick with Williamsburg history or great recommendations. I'll be back as soon as I can.

Have stayed at Fife and Drum 4 or 5 times now. Would never consider staying anyplace else in Williamsburg. The location alone is simply the best in town. The rooms, friendly service, homey feel, proximity to Colonial Wmsburg/Merchant Square/Wm & Mary College, and the great breakfast just add to the appeal. This is the THE place to stay.

We stayed in the Restoration Suite and loved it. Clean room and modern bathroom. Located right on the edge of the shopping and historic areas. Just park your car and enjoy.

Lovely Inn with wonderful rooms. Ideally located in the historic district and most restaurants with in a very short walk. The Inkeeper and staff were so friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back if in the area. Wonderful way to ring in the New Year with all the activities close by!!! The only down was the breakfasts served. Have been going to B&B's for over 30 years. I love to see how creative the Innkeepers are with breakfasts. Would have liked to see something more than a baked french toast that was not that good. It would have been nice to have something appropriate to the Colonial Williamsburg theme, spoon bread, Virgina ham omelet, hearty muffins such as pumpkin, carrot for some examples.

Stayed 1st week in Jan - had the place almost to ourselves - very convenient to return to around mid-day to warm up. Room was very quiet. Breakfasts very good. 'Aroma' cafe 30 feet away was excellent value.

The Fife and Drum was as comfortable as being with family. We were met at the door by Billy Scruggs who help us to our room and eagerly made reservations for dinner for both nights there. The location is perfect and within walking distance to great restaurants and the historic village. Billy and Sharon know the area well and have great suggestions for how to spend a day. We also took advantage of visiting both Jamestown and Yorktown in addition to Williamsburg. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the beds were great. We look forward to returning.

We spent 2 nights at the Fife & Drum B&B and would highly recommend it. The location is excellent, the owner was extremely helpful and very pleasant. The rooms were clean and fresh. The only disadvantage is that if stairs are a problem the B&B is upstairs on the 1st floor and there is no elevator. Breakfast was not great which was a surprise considering how good everything else was. We would definitely go back.

We went to Williamsburg for the first time New Year's Eve. I selected the Fife and Drum due to its proximity to the Historic and Merchants Square Areas. We like to be able to park the car and walk everywhere. The Inn was very nice, private and quiet. The Conservancy Room was beautiful and well appointed. I especially liked the footed tub! The staff were friendly and helpful. Rhonda was wonderful, kind and helpful! The breakfasts were all homemade on site with fresh fruit every day. I would highly recommend this Inn!

Clean, attractive rooms. Rooms on second floor and wouldn't be accessible for handicapped. Excellent location for reaching historic area and restaurants by walking. Breakfast only average. I would definitely stay again.

The Jamestown room was clean and well--appointed. Bathroom with shower adequate but lacking shelf space. Christmas morning breakfast was continental style - inderstandable since it was a holiday. Had an issue with room being too hot but proprietor remedied that by adjusting from another location. Very quiet and relaxing. Enjoyed the sitting area and coffee bar.

Excellent accommodations and service. Recommendations for activities to do (fife and drum evening march) and restaurants to visit were spot-on. Even suggestions of specific menu items were followed and appreciated.

This is our second visit to the Fife & Drum. And it was as wonderful as the last. The location can't be beat ... we park the car and don't have to drive anywhere to see all that Colonial Williamsburg has to offer. Billy and Sharon were great hosts... offering suggestions for dining and providing wonderful information about the area. The rooms are clean and comfortable with modern bath facilities. Rhonda keeps everything clean & tidy. We enjoyed having the breakfast available to start the day off right. This year we brought ourfriends with us and we'll most likely be back next year as well.

The room was charming and the service was good. The breakfast was fine. I suspect if you stayed more than a couple of days the bread pudding for breakfast would get a bit boring but for the two mornings we were there it was fine.

The Fife & Drum Inn is the best place to stay when visiting historic Williamsburg and/or William & Mary College. All attractions are within a few blocks of the Inn and it's in the middle of some great shops and places to eat.

My family of three have stayed at the Fife & Drum Inn a half dozen times, usually over a weekend in December. Its location alone would make it worthy (a block from the historic area, six blocks from the train station), but add that to its colonial decor, outstanding breakfasts (the leanest bacon ever!), and the cheery owners/staff, the place is perfect. Tea, cookies, and lemonade are available day and night as is a game table and a wide assortment of DVDs (not that you'd have much time for movies!). On our visit this past weekend, Billy graciously let us "keep" our room until we had to meet our train at 5 p.m. on check out day. When our daughter was young, he always gave her a bag of biscuits left over from breakfast to feed the ducks in a nearby pond. It's one of our favorite B&Bs anywhere, and the only place we'd stay in Williamsburg, VA.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience! The owners were very kind and extremely helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there again!

We stayed at the Fife and Drum Inn in November 2011 the week before Thanksgiving. This was our 5th year staying at the Inn. We truly love everything about it, the Innkeepers, Billy and Sharon, the staff, Rhonda, are wonderful people. Its so clean and comfortable. Breakfast delicious. Location perfect.

We have visited Wiliamsburg numerous times but just recently stumbled upon the Fife and Drum Inn and decided to stay there on our recent visit for the Grand Illumination weekend. The LOCATION can't be beat! You can easily walk to Colonial Williamsburg and you are right next to Market Square and next door to AROMAs! We loved the Colonial feel of the Inn and the owners as very friendly and accomodating. Also, the breakfasts were wonderful and they were generous to share the recipes! I would strongly recommend it. I also think their cottage that sleeps 6 would be an excellent choice for a family because of it's location! I wish we had known about it when we took our children to Williamsburg years ago. All in all, we were VERY pleased. Another benefit if that they have PARKING for their guests.

The hospitality was the best we have ever had. The experience was wonderful and we look forward to staying here again.

The room was one of a kind. The owner Billy, was extremely helpful, informative and kind. The rooms have their own thermostat and the beds are sooo comfortable. The breakfast was simple but yummy---would recommend anyone to stay there!

Although I live in DC, this was my first trip to Williamsburg. I scouted a number of establishments online before booking with the Fife and Drum, and I'm thrilled with my selection. The owner (Billy), is very friendly. The room was a bit small, but very clean and comfortable. I slept like a rock. The best part about this place (other than its charm) is its location. We parked our car and didn't touch it again for two days... Merchant's Square, Colonial Williamsburg, W&M campus - we were in the center of everything, so it was hugely convenient. I'll definitely go back!

The Fife & Drum Inn is a wonderful, cozy, convenient, & yummy place to stay when visiting Williamsburg, Virginia! Billy and Sharon are warm and friendly hosts! The themed rooms are always comfy and clean w/ all the modern amenities! I would highly recommend the Fife & Drum Inn! Kudos Billy & Sharon for another wonderful vacation!

The room was clean with colonial decor and a comfy queen bed. It was surprisingly quiet even though it's facing a busy street. The shower is nice and large. The innkeepers are welcoming and friendly and will offer suggestions for dining/attractions. The location is wonderful as it is only steps away from great cafes and restaurants and a couple of blocks away from the beginning of Colonial Williamsburg. This makes it easy to eat or shop and then go back to the room to freshen up or drop off packages.

We enjoyed our stay. Next time i would choose a room not near the common room as noise from vivitors late one night was distubing

5-minute walk to all of Williamsburg's attractions. Wonderful breakfast. Gracious, helpful host.

We enjoyed visiting Williamsburg and our central location to this historic city made our exploration very easy as the town and all the services were right out our door.

This was a mid-week surprise get-away with my wife to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary... We had a wonderful stay and were very pleased with our room, the hospitality, and breakfast. The location could not have been better...we enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Blue Talon Bistro (just down the street) and would highly recommend this place. Overall, we would go there again...my wife was very happy - she told me I hit a homerun on this one...

Great little Inn! I think the only complaint had very little to do with the service- the guests in the room next to us seemed to be pacing around half the night and with hard wood floors everywhere, it was a bit disturbing, as sound travels quite well! Otherwise, a great stay and fantastic location!

The Fife & Drum was my first B&B experience. I expected more from the breakfast after hearing from other's about their B&B experience. I got about what I get at a Hampton Inn. The location is key to F&D. It is one block from Colonial Williamsburg, 8 miles from Jamestown, and right next to William and Mary college and the shops of today's Williamsburg.

this was our second visit to the fife and drum inn, and it was as good as it was last visit. we have already booked our next visit down. the location was excellent, the staff could not have been more attentive, the breakfast was excellent, and the inn clean as a whistle. highly recommend the inn.

Chose to stay here on last night of trip. Owner very friendly and came to our room to help with broken shower faucet. Room was very cozy, and the location of the inn is great. We could walk to our restaurant. Folks who have difficulty with stairs should know, however, that the inn is on the second floor of an old building. No elevator.

Absolutely great location for sightseeing, touring, restaurants and access to Jamestown and Yorktown . Owners very friendly and very helpful! Beds inviting and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice but coffee needed to be stronger. Would stay here again.

Loved the closeness to historic Williamsburg. Inn is above business' but never heard anything from downstairs. Nice and quite. If you take a cab to the Inn just mention the Aromas Coffee shop and the cabbies know right where to go. Comfortable room and great breakfasts. We stayed 4 nights. What a pleasure.

Really close to Colonial Williamsburg and local eating establishments. Innkeepers were friendly and helpful. WIFI available but only accessible in the common room.

Billy and his wife are wonderful Inn keepers who gave us a beautiful breakfast each morning and service from a wonderful staff. Billy gave us great information on places to eat and things to make sure you see when you come to Historic Williamsburg. I hope to get back there again soon.

This B&B is in a fantastic location. Parking is nearby though it was not that easy to find the specific spaces for B&B guests. Partly, this difficulty was to do with the fact that there was nobody there to greet us when we arrived, although a key and welcome note were left, and so we were glad we had printed off the parking instructions. The room was lovely, well-appointed and quiet, good cleanliness and the bed comfortable. We were very happy with it. There was a good range of books available for guests in the main hallway. We were disappointed not to be greeted in the morning at breakfast, despite no greeting the previous evening. We were also disappointed with the choice at breakfast - from recollection, something cooked and some granola. The quality was fine, however. So, accommodation excellent, could improve breakfast and personal interaction/welcome with guests.

Our experience was first rate, and very pleasant. We had never stayed at a B&B before and our innkeepers made our stay very memorable. Sure beats going to a conventional hotel.

Beautifully decorated in a clean, minimalist kind of way. Authentically Colonial, but spotless and fresh. Breakfast is good, and Blue Talon breakfast across the street has absolutely amazing breakfast for $9.95 if you'd like to try that. The William and Mary room is lovely, but has an ice machine behind it. It didn't bother us much, but I'd avoid that room if you have a long drive ahead of you... This is one of my favorite places, and I highly recommend it. It's worth repeat visits!

We stayed at the Fife and Drum on 8/5-8/7. It was one of the best B&B's we have been to so far. The place is beautifully decorated, the rooms are great, and you can not beat the location. Right downtown in historic Willliamsburg. We loved it. We will definitely be back.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The Cedars Suite is very comfortable and a great value for that much space. The staff is friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the breakfasts and snacks. (We do wish the breakfast window was extended a bit though for late sleepers.) The location is very convenient as well, with the William and Mary campus, Merchant Square and the colonial area and buses nearby so you can park your car for the entire stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay here and were impressed by the helpful and friendly attitude of the owners and staff. If we visit the area again we would definitely return to the Fife and Drum.

We have stayed at many B&Bs and many hotels over the years. When I make travel plans I take into consideration what we will be doing and the overall purpose of the trip. I was very happy to find that this lodging had a little bit of each. Fife & Drum Inn was like a hotel in that each room had a key-card and was off of an interior corridor. So I didn't get the feeling that I was in someone's house in their bedroom.(Sometimes you want this cozy feel and sometimes you don't). The bathroom was outstanding. Obviously the hosts put a lot of thought into the layout, useability and aesthetics. Always had as hot of water as I wanted and excellent water pressure. The bed was one of the most inviting beds I have ever slept in. It looked and felt beautiful. What a pleasure to return to the room after a long day of activities around Williamsburg, shower and relax off to sleep with a little TV. Another cross between hotel and B&B was the breakfast. Usually at a B&B you are given the time breakfast begins and all of the guests sit together at one or two large tables. Sometimes I really don't want to sit at a table with all the other guests. Sometimes I want a more casual approach such as a nod hello while getting coffee. Fife & Drum had several smaller tables and a buffet that allowed the guests to come and go. More like what you see at a hotel breakfast buffet. The location is AWESOME. Colonial Williamsburg, Merchants Square and William & Mary are all less than 5 minutes away. The Inn has a parking area and/or there is Free parking on the street at night. Very nice hosts. They seemed to have a knack for accommodating guests based on the guests needs and wants for their stay. If you felt like chatting they chatted, if a good morning was all you were up for they could do that too. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Fife & Drum Inn. It was a perfect blend of the pampering of a B&B and the anonymity of a hotel.

I have stayed at the Fife and Drum Inn many times in the past, and I simply love the location. It's proximity to the historic area is a real plus. Since it is located in Merchant's Square, it is very convenient to the contemporary dining options in that end of town.

Breakfast was skimpy and not very well done compared to nearly every other B&B we have stayed at. The room was fine, and the staff was knowledgeable about sites and events in the area. The location is stellar - an easy walk to the historic district, William & Mary, and several excellent restaurants (including a cute coffee shop two doors east). The price is For the location.

Easy to find, good location, close to the areas most people go to Williamsburg to see. Owner seemed friendlier on departure as opposed to the businesslike and almost cool manner in which we were initially greeted. Breakfast was tasty but limited.

Great location. Tremendous service and an excellent Southern breakfast every morning. Owners are extremely knowledgeable of Williamsburg and truly care about the community. It's a comfortable place and worthy of a return trip.
