Inn Details
In Williamsburg's James River Plantation Country you can step back in time with a visit to PINEY GROVE AT SOUTHALL'S PLANTATION - 1790. The Gordineer family graciously welcomes you to their National Register landmark: This historic site is actually an enclave of authentically restored buildings which includes Piney Grove (1790), Ashland (1835), Dower Quarter (1835), Ladysmith (1857) and Duck Church (1917). Each building is furnished with family heirlooms, antiques and artifacts that chronicle the history of the houses and the entire plantation country.
Spacious guest rooms with private baths are situated in Ladysmith. Modern conveniences, such as air-conditioning, refrigerators, coffeemakers, and hair dryers, are inconspicuously placed in each room. Fine tavern dining, featuring regional cuisine, is available at several restaurants nearby. On many Saturday evenings the four-course JAMES RIVER PLANTATION PROGRESSIVE CANDLELIGHT TOUR & DINNER is offered. Turn-down service includes, nightcaps, romantic music and wood-fires (in cooler months). Each morning the farm bell announces the candlelight plantation breakfast served in the 1790 Log Room. The grounds include a pool, nature trail, lawn games and barnyard of animals.
