Gay Street Inn

Kevin and Jay are outstanding hosts. My wife and I stayed in the Shenandoah Suite because it accomodates dogs. It was a great room. We are looking for reasons to stay there again.

I cannot say enough good things about the Gay Street Inn...we spent a wonderful weekend there with our main plan to dine on Saturday night at the Inn at Little Washington. From check-in to check-out, it was an absolute delight to be there and Kevin & Jay are welcoming and attentive without ever being intrusive. Their recommendations for places to eat and area happenings were spot on, and the pancakes were some of the best I"ve ever had. We can't wait to return again soon for another country escape!

Everything about our stay at the Gay Street Inn was wonderful. The rooms were beautifully decorated, amenities very comfortable. The breakfast was AMAZING and featured delicious banana scones, locally roasted coffee, and tasty cornmeal pancakes. Kevin was very nice and accommodating. He offered a glass of wine upon our arrival, and we returned from our dinner to find port and chocolate waiting for us in the library/living room. We visited on a perfect winter night, but hope to go back in warmer weather. He really 'sold' Rappahannock County to us, and I cannot say enough good things about our experience at the Gay Street Inn. We highly recommend this b&b.

My SO and I visited the Gay Street Inn for his birthday, and we had a wonderful time. The room was great, but the service was wonderful. Kevin was exceptionally courteous, going above and beyond to make our stay pleasant, while Jay's cooking was to die for! Our favorite part of the B&B was the evening port & chocolate we enjoyed by the fire in the Library. Also, the house was full of Kevin's amazing art work--a real treat to view. All in all, I would recommend this place to everyone! Thank you, gentlemen! We hope to return next year.

A perfect get-away for a special occasion. Warm and pleasant in spite of a cold and rainy day. Highly recommended as an overnight accommodation when dining at the Inn at Little Washington.

Wonderful, relaxing stay!! Kevin and Jay are just the best host. When we got back from our dinner at The Inn at Little Washington we were pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of port, beautiful glassware, and chocolates. We relaxed in the living room by the fire (no chestnuts roasting!) and had a perfect ending to the day. :)

I had a wonderful time at this BB. You can't go wrong. The host is just so very pleasant, you'll feel very comfortable. The place is spotless, the home is charming and beautiful and their food was really good.

For my recent Birthday, I made dinner reservations at The Inn at Little Washington did not want to have to drive back home after dinner. After doing some research on the few Bed and Breakfasts near the restaurant, I decided to stay at The Gay Street Inn. I'm so glad I did! Kevin, one of the Innkeepers, walked out to greet me as I was getting out of my car and carried my suitcase inside for me; what a lovely welcome. He showed me to my room, which I had selected after viewing the photos on the website, and it looked even prettier in person. Kevin was very warm and wanted to make sure I had everything I needed, even offering me a glass of wine. He told me how I could reach him if I discovered I needed anything during my stay. When I returned from dinner, the lights were on in the library and a bottle of port was set out with glasses for an after dinner drink! I had a lovely breakfast the next morning, of cornmeal pancakes, fresh fruit, scones and local coffee, in the light filled breakfast room. There was one little glitch with the toilet, but it was taken care of immediately and I did not feel inconvenienced. I am looking forward to staying again but for at least a weekend next time.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Gay Street Inn. We have stayed at many B & Bs over the last 7 or 8 years and this Inn is our number one favorite by far. Kevin and Jay go out of their way to make their Inn feel like home in every way.

We stayed here in conjunction with a trip to have dinner at the Inn at Little Washington. The house has been beautifully restored and renovated in a way that seamlessly blends the old and new; our room was very attractive and spacious. We only interacted with Kevin during our visit; he was an excellent host. We were offered drinks (very nice Virginia wines) prior to heading out for dinner and there was also port and chocolate waiting for us when we got back. The breakfast was excellent, and is served in a small dining room that overlooks the garden in the back. Overall, a peaceful and pleasant visit. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

We could not have had a more enjoyable time than we had at the Gay Street Inn. We chose a beautiful fall day to drive through the Blue Ridge Mountains as the leaves had recently changed. Our reason for arriving in (Little) Washington, Virginia was, of course to dine at the famed Inn at Little Washington and it was only by happenstance that we found the Gay Street Inn as a place to stay. On arriving at the Inn, we were enthusiastically greet by Kevin, one of the innkeepers. He was polite and pleasant and quick to make conversation. Our second floor room was beautifully renovated with a view towards the mountains and a stunning bathroom with Double Shower. The large bed was comfortable and we were able to regulate the temperature in our room without issue. Following our magnificent feast at the IALW, we arrived back at GSI to find Port wine, dark chocolate and a log for the fireplace ready and waiting. What a wonderful conclusion to our night! The next morning, we lounged again in the library and had a gourmet breakfast made at the inn with homemade blueberry scones, pancakes with Maple Cranberry butter and broiled grapefruit. Heavenly! The breakfast room had wonderful large windows and lots of sunlight which helped us rub the sleep from our eyes. It was hard to leave but we had to get back to "real life". We've already recommended the GSI to multiple friends and hope to go back again sooner than later. It's a gem located in this quaint little town!

Kevin and Jay did a great job. The place was beautiful, they were very helpful assisting with plans and the food was delicious. No point in looking anywhere else when staying in Little Washington.

We found the Gay Street Inn on-line. We booked the Shenandoah Suite and confirmation from the Inn was quick and helpful. On arrival, Kevin offered us wine on the front porch, which is a wonderful place to sit and relax with a great view of the mountains. Our friends, also staying at the Inn, joined us later and received the same welcoming. The Inn is on a very quiet dead end street and has a beautifully landscaped lawn. The rooms are spotless and very quiet. Breakfast was great, french toast with fresh fruit in a very comfortable small dining area at the back of the house. We got great advice from Kevin on wineries, a small place to eat in Flint Hill and shops in town. This is a great inn, well priced, and we will definitely go back.

Our visit to VA was highlighted by this special inn. The hosts were attentive to our every need.

Please don't be put off by the lack of "Outstandings" on this review. The Gay Street Inn is a perfectly acceptable B&B, and I'd stay there again if I needed a room in that area. However, it doesn't compare favorably with some of the truly "outstanding" hotels and resorts where I have stayed in my travels.

Having specific eating requirements means that I cannot eat the usual breakfast at a bed and breakfast. At the Gay Street Inn they went out of their way to meet my food requirements, even cooking separate breads and pancakes for me. Adding to the delight of the food was the eating area which looks out over a beautiful garden. One of our best experiences ever!

The host, Kevin Adams, was outstanding. He told us about the area and suggested several places of interest. The room was very comfortable and very clean; breakfast was "eggs on a cloud" - not only pretty, but good. I highly recomend the Gay Street Inn.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Gay Street Inn over Columbus Day weekend. The Inn is very clean and nicely restored. My boyfriend's favorite part: the shower and water pressure in the garden room! My favorite part: the delicious breakfast. We both loved eating in the sunroom, looking out on a large, beautiful back yard. We would definitely go back to the Inn again!

This and dinner at the Inn at Little Washington was a Christmas gift from my son. Dinner was beyond wonderful and the B & B was lovely. I would stay there again if I am ever back in that part of the country.

Hosts are incredible and provided great information about the local area, things to do, where to go, and lots more. The site is lovely, quiet, and restful, and the food is outstanding.

We are B&B people and this was decidedly one of the best we have experienced on either side of the Atlantic. Clean, quiet, comfortable, attractive, a charming host, and coffee (and a pastry) available an hour before breakfast at 8:30, and port and chocolate at bedtime. We've already made plans to go back next year.

The owners were incredibly hospitable, the room was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, and the breakfast was delicious. Bonus: One of the owners is a painter with his studio next door.

The perfect place to stay after dinner up the street. Beautifully renovated, spacious, and graciously hosted.

we saw great reviews about the Gay St Inn. before we booked it. Kevin, the innkeeper greeted us. he was very personable and friendly. offered us a glass of wine when we got there and brought us a generous glass with a bowl of nuts. the house was lovely with a library and lots of games. in the evening, a bottle of port and chocolates were put out for the guest to enjoy. this was very nice. there was no TV in our room but the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. they had bath amenities as well. they offered newspapers for the guests and breakfast was fabulous. they adjusted the dish for those who did not want to eat meat. we had some sweet baked bread/loaf, amazing bowl of fruit a and and egg and ham egg white souffle with toast. Kevin gave us maps and recommendations where to go- wineries, lunch, home made pie store, etc. I would stay here again.

We are planning to go again. Lovely place, beautifully furnished, a delicious breakfast, but mostly the hosts were gracious, welcoming and charming.

Innkeeper Kevin truly went above and beyond to answer our questions about area activities and provide recommendations for dining, wineries, and great locations for photo opportunities. Our room (Bradams Ridge) was quite cozy and comfortable, with a nice space outside the bathroom to put luggage. We especially enjoyed the two-headed shower and huge luxury bath towels! Our 2 breakfasts prepared by Kevin and Jay were delicious and excellently presented. They included lots of fresh fruit, banana nut bread and scones, and a hot entree. And wonderfully strong coffee using beans right from Rappahanock County. Lastly, we were treated to port and chocolates in the evening, with wine also available in the afternoon. We agree with the comment made by many other guests: No details have been missed.

This was a great find. The innkeepers (Jay and Kevin) couldn't have been nicer. They made us feel welcomed and comfortable for the entire stay. The breakfast was outstanding. We're definitely going back and we recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone.

Quiet and secluded in a small town with easy walk to 5 star dinning at the Inn at Little Washington. Kevin and Jay were perfect hosts serving a wonderful fresh breakfast on their garden porch. Our Mountain View room looked out at the Shennadoah mts. with a great bed and quiet location. Definitely eat at the great restaurant up the the street, but stay with Gay St. Inn.

We had a wonderful stay at Gay Street B&B. The place was lovely and very well maintained. I broke my ankle the week before I came, but since we had booked the first floor room, it caused no problems. The owners were great hosts. The breakfasts were a nice size...plentiful but not gargantuan and it was so pleasant to look at the garden while we ate. It was a great value. Admittedly if someone is TV addicted, not a good choice, but they have wireless! I highly recommend this B&B for people looking for someplace to stay when planning a meal at the Inn at Little Washington...or for anyone looking for a place to stay when vacationing central Virginia. We would love to go back.

I loved the location and the quaint simplicity this B&B offered. This made the perfect getaway from reality for my boyfriend and I, and I would certainly visit again. It was easy to get to know other guests, or to read a book privately in the backyard. It's the little things that make a big difference for me and offering Port after a night out, and keeping bug spray nearby the outside were key elements for me. Walls were a bit paper thin so it was hard to have a conversation o others in the hallway hearing, but all in all, I loved it!

Very comfortable, very clean, and very accomodating. Outstanding breakfast. Hosts more than willing to help with planning days. Visitors need to stock up on some staples, e.g. club soda, fruit. There are not many well-stocked grocery stores in the area.

We've stayed at B&Bs before where the host is difficult to locate when we arrive and sticks to the basics of hospitality. But Jay and Kevin were readily available to help us with our trips around the area, they offered wine right when we got there, and put out port and chocolates in the evening when we returned from our meal out. They made an excellent breakfast of delicious fresh fruit, scones, and an egg dish. The coffee was from the roasting company in the area and was delicious, too. The Inn was also great place to make our home-base from which to venture and to the wineries in the area. They provided a few tasting passes to some of the local wineries, which were really nice to have. We'd come there again, for sure!

Comfortable room and an outstanding gourmet breakfast. The yard in the back of the house is so well groomed, and a relaxing place to read the Wasington Post in the morning which is supplied by the Inn.

This is a spectacular and restful setting with a lovely front porch to take in the gorgeous scenery and tranquil spots to enjoy the garden in the back. Kevin was a gracious host with excellent tips on the surrounding area. The Garden Room was spacious and the breakfast was scrumptious. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Beautiful room, and Kevin and Jay are incredibly gracious hosts. It's ideal location for exploring Washington, VA and surrounding communities and vineyards in Rappahannock County, and Kevin and Jay were really helpful with orientation and suggestions as we needed them. Fabulous breakfast and a beautiful, wide porch for whiling away an afternoon were unexpected bonuses.

The inn is charming, well decorated, and very clean. The hosts outdid themselves to make our stay the best without intruding on our privacy. Food and drinks were excellent!! We had a great experience, all around.

My wife and I were traveling to Washington, VA, to enjoy the fine food of the Washington Inn. The cost to stay at the Inn was prohibitive, so we reviewed other properties in the area. And, we found the Gay Street Inn, a gem of a property. We spent two nights in the Blue Rom, and were so very pleased with all aspects of the Inn, the room, the service, the ease of check-in and check-out. However, the single most item that we enjoyed more than all, was the privacy and quietness of the property. Should our travels take us back into this area, the Gay Street Inn will always be our first choice. It certainly gave us new perspective as to what a Bed and Breakfast is all about. For this, we are truly grateful.

The Gay Street Inn provides all the comfort one wants when vsiting Little Washington. The hosts have gone out of their way to be welcoming and helpful. They offer a refined atmosphere and cordiality. A drink of wine upon arrival; a comfortable room and bath; an excellent breakfast ina beautiful day room. We would definitely return on our next visit to little Washington, VA.

Wonderful stay and Kevin was the perfect host who served us delicious local wines prior to our dinner at the Inn and it was capped off by a glass of port afterwards. If in Washington, the Gay Street B&B is a great experience.

We went to the Inn at Little Washington for my husband's birthday and stayed at the Gay Street Inn. The whole experience was perfect. The owners were so welcoming, the room was very cute and clean, and the little touches, the welcoming glass of wine and after-dinner port, just made you want to sit back and relax. The breakfast the next morning was delicious (great coffee). If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, I would absolutely recommend.

We were dining at the Inn at little Washington and wanted to stay nearby. The Inn and it's rooms are thoughtfully furnished, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Service is exactly as it should be - unobtrusive! Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine in the charming garden or on the porch as we did. Chocolate and port is laid out for guests to enjoy later in the evening. Breakfast was home made but definitely gourmet - apricot and nut bread, fruit salad followed by cornmeal pancakes with maple syrup & cranberry butter plus bacon. We wanted to move in! Can't rate the Inn and it's hosts highly enough. We'll be back.

My husband and I spent a night in the Shenandoah suite with mini kitchen and seating area. The room was delightful, comfortable king bed and beautifully decorated. Innkeeper, Kevin, provided helpful hints on dining at the Inn at Little Washington, local hiking and wineries. The garden was a lovely spot to enjoy the complementary glass of wine upon arrival, and the port and chocolate after dinner were a pleasant touch. The home-made breakfast was delicious. We will definitely return to this lovely, friendly inn and do more exploring in this beautiful area of Virginia.

We could not have had a nicer stay. The room was perfect, the breakfast was great, and the Innkeeper (Kevin) was a wonderful host. We look forward to seeing some more of his beautiful landscape paintings in the future as well

We stayed at the Gay Street Inn during a family reunion. Kevin was more than accommodating. We lost the key to the room and he was not at all upset. He just said "If you find it when you return home you can send it to us." I will definitely return again.

Jay had a warm & thorough welcome & even brought out arm chairs so we could enjoy a sunny afternoon in their beautiful garden. From 'soup to nuts' the house and the hospitality was great. I stayed at the Gay Street Inn after a long week of work and staying in a different business hotel every night (Sheraton, Hilton Garden Inn, etc.). What a breath of fresh air to stay at the Gay Street Inn! It was restful and quiet and the food was delicious (LOVE the breakfast). I made it to Washington, VA, around 11:30 at night, and they had left port and chocolates out for me. A good hot shower, port, chocolates, and a little reading, and I had the most restful night of sleep that I had had all week. I hope I get to come back when I 'm not working!

Whether do activities in the small town of Washington or around Rappahannock this is a very nice stay. Central to the county and in the midst of Northern VA wineries. Accommodations very comfortable, landscaped and open yard, breakfast area, front porch, and living areas all excellent. The proprietors make you feel at home from start to finish from welcoming cordials to a great breakfast. Good place to start to explore the county.

My fiancee arrived around 7pm and Kevin was quick to show us our room, explain the general b&b schedule, double-check our timeframe for any dinner reservations we had, and offer us wine on the front porch. We stayed in the Mountain View room, which was very clean, and had a huge bathroom. It was raining and foggy, so we couldn't see the mountains, but it was delightful nonetheless. After eating at the Inn at Little Washington (only 2 blocks away), we walked back to the Gay Street Inn to find some wine and chocolates waiting in the living room. Breakfast was excellent. Jay made pancakes topped with maple syrup-and-fruit-infused homemade butter. It was paired with some perfectly cooked local, grass-fed bacon. The coffee was also very, very good. The dining area had lovely views of the well-maintained rear garden and plenty of natural light. There were newspapers available (both national and local) and wifi for those who like to read their news online. It was an excellent stay and I would highly recommend this to other couples.

We spent on night at the inn and had a great experience. The innkeeper was extremely helpful, offering to help with bags, providing great information about the area, and just being there for anything we migth need. We were in the garden room, which was clean, comfortable and nicely appointed. Breakfast was very good, with fresh fruit and a hearty quiche. I would recommend this inn to anyone visitng the area.

We stayed in Bradam's Ridge for our 1 year anniversary after a dinner at the chef's table at the Inn at Little Washington. The room was cozy and warm, the bathroom was wonderful - with two showerheads, a large-sized hairdryer and extra toilet paper rolls tied with peach-colored ribbon (such a nice touch!). Kevin (Jay, unfortunately, was on a business trip so we didn't have the pleasure of meeting him) was an incredible host. He is an incredible chef and baker - even sent us home with two of his homemade cranberry-orange scones that I have become obsessed with. He went out of his way to have a gorgeous arrangement of wildflowers for our arrival and rented road bikes for us in advance. Kevin went out of his way to help us set out a trail and gave us a certificate for a free tasting at the local Rappahannock Cellars. He even printed out directions for us to go through Shannandoah National Park before our drive home. All in all, the food was great and the service was stellar. We will definitely recommend this place to friends, family, strangers, anyone we meet!

I was surprised with how confortable the room was and how quiet the night was. The Inn was booked up, but we didn't hear any one else the entire night. Breakfast in the morning was absolutely amazing. Kevin and Jay couldn't have been more attentive to all of us.

My wife and I spent a peaceful Saturday night at the Gay Street Inn and were very pleased. The owners were exceedingly friendly and gracious, our room was clean and charming and the breakfast was delicious. The only thing I would change is that we stayed in the Shenandoah Suite -- on the ground floor near the front door -- and so heard every guest come in and out of the inn quite clearly, including those returning late at night (and loudly) from dinner at the Inn at Little Washington. I think next time we would choose a room on the 2nd floor. Beyond that -- no complaints, and we would stay here again.

My husband and I went to Washington, VA to enjoy an evening at the Little Inn, compliments of our children. We choose the Gay Street Inn and were totally pleased. We were met by a very friendly innkeeper who took our bags to our room (that was a first). He explained how the inn operated and asked for our questions. Told us to ring the bell at any time and someone would answer promptly. This did occur as noted. Always very hospitable and always a smile on their faces. The living room was very inviting: a fireplace, newpapers and books available. Beautiful painitings adorned this cozy room. Breakfast was delicious (chef is quite creative). Since there was no cell phone available in the mountains, the innkeepers provided a lan line for our use. Thank you. We will be back!!

I've stayed at many area B&Bs for my pilgrimmage to dine at The Inn at Little Washington and Gay Street Inn is by far the best. Kevin was a welcoming, erudite host. Our room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast room overlooks a lovely yard.

The INN was great. The inkeepers were helpful and considerate. Breakfast was excellent. Room (Blue Room) was clean and comfortable. Great locaton. We definitely will stay there again if we visit Little Washington.

Wonderfully homey and beautiful at the same time. The host made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed a fire, wine and reading in the lovely living room on a weekend afternoon. Our room was great. A 3-minute walk from the Inn at Little Washington.

The room was of large size and very clean. Nice touch with wine on arrival and portwine/chocolates in the evening. The fireplace in the living room was also very nice. Breakfast was delicious and served right when they said it would be. Would definitely go back!

We fully enjoyed our stay at the Inn. Having made a reservation for dinner at the Inn at Little Washington, chose this property within walking distance and are very glad we did. It was perfect! The town itself is historic, quaint and walkable. The Inn and our room were quiet, lovely, cozy and homey. The room was large and bright with plenty of chairs, lights and closet space. The living room has a working fireplace and many books. The breakfast was delicious! I even asked for the recipe - cornmeal pancakes with cranberry/maple butter and the bacon was fantastic. In the evening, port and chocolates are offered. Highly recommend the Gay St Inn!

My wife and I had never been to Washington, VA , but we could not be happier with our recent stay at the Gay Street Inn. It is ideally located on a quiet dead-end street off the main roads that cross through the village. Our room - Mountain View - was beautifully appointed, spacious and had very comfortable furniture. We enjoyed reading and listening to birds on the front porch, and decamped to the living room with its fireplace after a fabulous dinner just down the street at the Inn at Little Washington. To cap everything off, their breakfast room was bright and sunny, with fantastic food and service. We'll be back!

Kevin & Jay were so kind and they were the perfect hosts.... from evening wine to nightcap port & chocolate.... and the most delicious breakfast. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to the Inn at Little Washington!

The Gay Street Inn is just a short drive from Shenandoah National Park. Our room was light, spacious,comfortable and quiet. Our hosts were affable and helpful, and the breakfast was the perfect start to a day of touring and hiking. We will definitely stay here during our next hiking/winery vacation.

We stayed the night after dinner at a local restaurant. Jay and Kevin were great hosts. Everything about the experience was perfect and very affordable. Next time we are in the area we will be staying again.

We wanted to celebrate retirement with a dinner at The Inn at Little Washington and decided to spend an evening at the Gay Street Inn. We have stayed there previously and new ownership has made wonderful improvements to the Inn. Kevin made us feel welcome and was very helpful. The breakfast was wonderful! We would definitely recommend the Gay Street Inn to our friends and will look forward to staying there again.

We had a great dinner in the area but before dinner Kevin and Jay made us feel welcome and relaxed. We were a member of the family right away. Breakfast the next morning was wonderful.

Jay and Kevin were wonderful hosts - friendly and helpful. Bedroom and bath were very comfortable. Living room was a cozy place to gather with friends before and after dinner. Especially enjoyed the wide collection of superb books and the artwork. Port and chocolates were a nice touch when we arrived back after dinner. Early coffee and warm muffins were great for those of us who rise early, with a tasty full breakfast to follow. Great value!

Everything about the Gay St. Inn was great. The innkeepers, Kevin and Jay, were warm and accomodating. The inn itself was beautiful, featuring art by Kevin and a number of contemporary American artists and remarkable rugs. The decor in our room was just perfect, striking just the right balance between classic and contemporary, avoiding the precious, over-antiqued feel of many inns. And the bed was good, which is important for me, as I have a bad back. Breakfast was delicious too. All in all a wonderful experience, highly recommended.

The Gay Street Inn is a fantastic B&B and was the perfect backdrop to our engagement weekend. Kevin and Jay made us feel right at home and were extremely accommodating. Their hospitality, paired with a quiet and relaxing inn, went a long way to making the weekend perfect. We have already discussed a return visit.

We were very pleased with the Gay Street Inn. The room was spacious and gorgeous, and the innkeepers were very attentive without being obtrusive. Extra touches like port and chocolate waiting for us in the living room in the evening put this above and beyond most B&Bs I've visited.

This was my first stay at a B&B and I loved it! Jay and Kevin were so warm and welcoming. They went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable. The rooms were cute, the service was fantastic and the muffins the next morning were amazing. I highly recomend!

Jay and Kevin are great innkeepers and have a terrific B+B. We liked ti so much we stayed and extra day. Upon arrival we were greeted and given a tour, offered help with our luggage and a glass of wine by the fire. Later, when we returned after dinner out there was some port and chocolate by the fire available for us. Breakfast was superb and the rooms were very comfortable though I would ahve preferred a softer bed. We hope to return.

Stayed 1 night in Bradams Ridge room which was larger than it appeared in photos. Good value compared with other Inns in this expensive town. Wine and tea were served in the afternoon and port and wrapped chocolate selection in the evening. Delicious full breakfast was served in the sunny breakfast room. Room was immaculately clean except for a little dust showing in the sunlight on one set of venetian blinds. Kevin was very helpful with information on nearby shopping, wineries, and restaurants tailored to our interests. Will stay here again on future visit to the area.

We were late getting there, due to traffic mess, but when we got there, the host was waiting for us, and was very friendly and helpful, and help us get settled in quickly, so we could make our dinner reservation. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable. After having dinner nearby, it was fun to come back to the port and chocolates that were left waiting in the parlor. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding. The place is definitely a great value, and I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

We stayed at the Gay Street Inn for our second anniversary and couldn't have been more thrilled. Kevin and Jay were wonderous hosts, and we felt right at home from the moment we walked in (only a better and more relaxing home). Our room was perfect, the house and property are beautiful, and Kevin and Jay made it a very special experience. From the complimentary wine on the porch to the port and chocolates put out while we were at dinner, they really thought of everything. Breakfast the next morning was also outstanding. This is truly our favorite bed and breakfast in Virginia, and we also highly recommend stopping by Kevin's art studio to admire his work.

Lovely rooms and exceptional innkeepers, just what makes a great B&B.

My husband and I opted to stay at the Gay Street Inn after a friend recommended it over The Inn at Little Washington. We could not have asked for a better stay for our 2nd anniversary. Kevin and Jay were so inviting and immediately made us feel comfortable. They offered us a chance to drink wine and sit on the front porch once we were settled in (we took a nap instead). Once we got back from dinner at The Inn at Little Washington (very late), Kevin and Jay had chocolate and port waiting on the table in the living room for us to enjoy. The breakfast they made was amazing, and they catered to my vegetarian lifestyle. As we were checking out, my husband and Kevin discovered how much they had in common and we ended up staying another hour just to chat. We will definitely be back!! We're even thinking of showing up after Thanksgiving just to enjoy an evening with Kevin and Jay.

Visited the inn for a weekend 1st anniversary trip. Beautiful inn and grounds, the breakfast was prepared by the innkeepers and was amazing, room was spotless, and had everything we needed. Library was a great place to relax in the evening with some wine! We had a great time riding our tandem bike to local wineries.

We've stayed in Washington, VA a number of times and never found a place where we were eager to return. Now we have. The Gay Street Inn is lovely, reasonable, and conveniently located. Best of all was the way Jay and Kevin did everything to make use welcome. From the drinks when we arrived to port and chocolate at night, to the repeated reminders to ask them if we needed anything, their hospitality was top notch.

Wonderful & welcoming! We stayed at the Gay Street Inn with our dog during our visit to nearby Shenandoah National Park. Our innkeepers were most gracious. The breakfast each day was outstanding including scones to die for & heirloom tomatoes from the inn’s garden. Maps, suggestions & directions for hiking in the park as well as other activities in the area were provided. Kevin & Jay had excellent ideas for nearby dining. We particularly liked the Griffin Tavern. At days end port & chocolates are available in the sitting area. Our room was very clean & comfortable. Knowing that we enjoyed tea, our hosts made sure we had tea supplies in our room. Kevin’s art studio is across from the Inn & we had the chance to see some of his beautiful paintings including some as part of the anniversary celebration for Shenandoah National Park. We would definitely recommend the Gay Street Inn for your stay in this area.

Excellent time, the owners/inn keepers are amazing. Made an outstanding stuffed french toast breakfast with plenty of side dishes. The entire house was super clean, the wife could not believe it! Can't wait to stay there another time.

Amazing how every detail was anticipated, from arrival to departure. We found the inn by chance looking for a place to stay close to a special evening dinner and may have enjoyed the inn more than the dinner. This trip was our second time staying at the Gay Street Inn. Last year we stayed in the Garden Room, which was beautiful-tastefully decorated, cozy and relaxing. This year we decided to bring our dog and we were put up in the Shenandoah Suite. The suite is larger, a great value for the price, and also abounds with beauty and charm. Once again, we were well taken care of by Kevin and Jay, who offered us wine before our dinner at the Inn at Little Washington and left out port and chocolates for us upon our return from dinner. Breakfast was absolutely delicious! Banana bread, fresh seasonal melon, and wonderful pancakes with homemade cranberry maple butter and local bacon - what a perfect way to start your day! The suggestions we have been given by Kevin and Jay on which vineyards to visit have taken our particular tastes into account and have been simply wonderful! I highly recommend the Gay Street Inn for a relaxing night and scrumptious breakfast while in Washington, VA!

We wanted a nice B&B...we were climbing Old Rag followed by dinner at The Inn at Little Washington. The location is perfect. Kevin and Jay were the perfect hosts. We loved the fact that it was a B&B, a type of hotel, but it also felt like their home. We highly recommend this B&B.

We loved our stay at the Gay Street Inn. The innkeepers provide the perfect level of attention. They go out of their way to make sure you have planned a day perfect for you, and also give you the privacy that you want on a quiet, weekend getaway. Their breakfast is amazing, particularly the cornbread-cranberry pancakes and delicious fruit. The room was very nice and comfortable. The home's grounds are very lovely, with a perfect porch and backyard and bocci set for entertainment. We particularly enjoyed the chocolates and port at night, and selection of VA wines in the afternoon. All around, the most perfect and delightful weekend in Little Washington.

We booked on-line because we had dinner reservations at the well-known nearby Inn at Little Washington and the Gay Street Inn offered charm without the conveniently inflated prices of the other B&Bs in the area. We found the Inn and the Inn Keepers, Kevin and Jay, to be worth not only a rave review but a return visit. The Inn is clean and conducive to relaxation and even romance. Our only regret is that we had time for only a single overnight. We will definitely stay here again when we have more time.

My husband and I stayed at the Gay Street Inn for one night. It was our tenth wedding anniversary and we wanted to dine at the Inn at Little Washington, which was a short and lovely walk from the Gay Street Inn. From the moment we were greeted by our host, Kevin, to the moment we signed the guest book and left, our stay was outstanding. Kevin served us a relaxing glass of wine in the lovely back yard/garden when we first arrived and there was a bottle of port and bowl of chocolates waiting for us when we returned from dinner late that night. Breakfast was a very enjoyable event with gourmet food and coffee and tips and directions for local touring/wineries from Kevin. I can't say enough about this inn and its hosts. You will not be disappointed!!!

This was a wonderful stay in a charming house at the foot hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The hosts were wonderful, the food exceptional and the thoughtful glass of port left out in the evening for us made the stay worth repeating.

We were supposed to stay on 3/20, but needed to get away sooner. Kevin, at the Gay St. Inn, was welcoming beyond belief. It was a cozy and perfect night on cold, rainy weekend.

We very much enjoyed the Wine Lovers Package -- it was our first time touring the wineries, so we appreciated having a driver who knew his way around. We had a very short visit due to an impending winter storm, but Kevin made our stay so comfortable that we plan to go back. The house is absolutely beautiful and the breakfast...both beautiful and sublime.

The Garden Room is large, comfortable, and quiet. Kevin was helpful without being intrusive. The breakfast was superb!

This B&B is a must for a romantic get-a-way or just to relax for a day or two. The innkeepers are so personable and helpful. They made recommendations and reservations for us to some of the local attractions. There is a lot to do in this area - wine tastings at the local wineries, antique shopping, great restaurants, farmers markets, hiking, and a trip to Luray Caverns is not to far away. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the service was attentive. We will visit this B&B again.

We stayed at the Gay Street Inn because we had a gift certificate to use at the Inn at Little Washington. Our stay was perfect in every way. This was the least expensive B&B in town (walking distance from the Inn at Little Washington), and it had everything we could have wanted: a clean room, a well furnished room, great hospitality, a gourmet breakfast, and a wonderful backyard in which we would lounge and read the paper. The owners, Kevin and Jay, were also very helpful in giving us good places to hike in the area. I highly recommend this place.

Our visit was wonderful from our arrival when Jay offerred us each a glass for wonderful wine, to the port and sweets before bed. Jay and Kevin are most hospitable as Innkeepers. Our room was comfortable, quiet and beautiful. And we were able to open our windows to sleep with the fresh cool mountain air. Jay's breakfast the next morning topped it all off as another wonderful visit. We look forward to returning for our third visit.

My wife and I loved this Inn which is only a 7 or 8 minute walk from the Inn at Little Washington, where we had dinner. The Innkeepers are delightful and the B&B is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We will definitely stay there again in the near future.

We spent one night at the Gay Street Inn. The room was nicely appointed. Beautiful yard and nice front porch. The street is very quiet which made sleeping much easier. They recommended a restaurtant in Washington DC that we enjoyed. We would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

We celebrated my husband's 70th birthday with a night at the Gay St. Inn and dinner at The Inn at Little Washington (within walking distance of each other). Kevin, one of the owners, greeted us and continued to meet our every need throughout our stay. Our room was lovely and the breakfast was fantastic! We loved relaxing in the lovely back yard for our before-dinner wine, and after-dinner port, as well as coffee and the paper on the front porch in the morning. We will surely return to this quiet, welcoming spot.

Our hosts had apologized for being away, but we were very well taken care of by their housekeeper, who made us feel very welcome. We were the only guests that night (Thursday), and had the beautifully decorated and comfortable house to ourselves. We hope to return one day to meet our hosts and enjoy another wonderful stay at this lovely B&B!

Kevin is a wonderful host and a fine cook. The Inn is very clean and quiet. Only complaint is the bed was hard as a rock. Pillows and towls were superb though!

It was the perfect place to stay while dining at the Inn at Little Washington. The room was great, hosts were great, and a pleasant 2 block walk to the restaurant. The bed was a little too firm for my husband, but I like it that way. Breakfast was fantastic. We couldn't have been more pleased!
