A wonderful and relaxing getaway spent in a delightful house decorated in a unique blend of the antique and modern. Friendly, knowledgeable host and unbelievable food. Great location in Richmond's Fan, close to most everything. Recommend it highly.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversery at the Grace Manor Inn. Everything was wonderful. Very gracious host, knowledgable about the house and area. The rooms were spacious, a sitting room came with the bedroom, bath down the hall. The bed was comortable, the breakfast marvalous. In Richmond, go here.

My husband and I spent our 21st anniversary at the Grace Manor Inn, Richmond VA, Nov 28-30, 2011, and couldn't have been more pleased! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. We were in awe of the home's beauty and decor. We stayed in the Fensterer Davis Suite which was very spacious and oh so comfortable, especially the wonderful pillow-top mattress and the crisp white sheets! We've stayed in over a dozen B&B's and the Grace Manor Inn, by far, had the best gourmet breakfast...and their cupcakes are to die for! We made sure we bought a dozen of these delectable babies from Carytown Cupcakes to take home! Albert & Dawn couldn't have been more gracious and accommodating. They certainly know how to pamper their guests! We plan to return again next year.

Grace Manor Inn in Richmond is in a beautifully restored old home. It is in an excellent location for site seeing. The breakfasts are marvelous and delicious. The inkeepers are very knowledgeable and helpful. We have been several times and will likely go there again.

The Pictures do an injustice for this property! The owner/manager is more than pleasant and extremely accommodating! Our room was spacious, the bed was relaxing, the claw foot tub was a welcome experience of old times gone by. Grace Manor Inn was perfectly located for our visit to Richmond. It was so centrally located that we were almost locked in due to the Marathon. However, Albert came to our rescue!!! He provided us with a map showing the marathon route and available egress routes that enabled us to get to our destinations of choice. I fear the consequences of giving a 5 Star rating... I'm afraid that they will earn so much business that I may never be able to get another reservation! Thanks again to Albert, Dawn and the ferocious Yorkie Attack dogs!!!

my favorite movies have always been ones like "life with father", "meet me in st. louis", etc. that are filmed in victorian style houses. now i have had the opportunity to actually stay in one. this b&b is outstanding. the owners take immaculate care of their home. they are so friendly and helpful you feel more like family than like a guest. the food was outstanding and the 2 remaining puppies were fun to visit with. i hope i have the opportunity to return again.

What an amazing B&B. I have nothing but great things to say about our 2 days spent here. The room was comfortable, the decor was amazing, and the food... oh the food!!! There is nothing more wonderful then waking up to the smell of fresh cooked bacon; we knew we were in for a real treat! I am going to recommend this B&B to everybody I know!

My husband and I spent an adventurous eight days at GMI. Because we called too late to reserve the room of our choice for the length of our stay, Albert, innkeeper and perfect host, offered a unique solution - to move us and our belongings into whatever room was not occupied for the night, or even a few nights. Over the course of our stay we slept in three of the four guest suites. This game of musical rooms had an unexpected bonus – it allowed us to be more than guests inhabiting an assigned room and to imagine, instead, that we were staying in the private rooms of a family, each member of which let us use his and her bedroom and private sitting room while they were away visiting cousins in Baltimore or Charlotte or Atlanta. (You can easily engage your fantasies at Grace Manor Inn.) Each room has its own personality and collection of individual belongings, and while we enjoyed the Victorian ambience, the remote controls on each private sitting room table and the unobtrusive refrigerator and coffeemaker let you know that modern conveniences are at hand. Albert and Dawn Schick, owners/innkeepers of Grace Manor Inn have created a marvelous environment – relaxed, fun, and casual despite the Victoriana - and delicious breakfasts that frequently end with a truly incredible cupcake conceived by Dawn, known as the “Hummingbird.” Albert is the perfect host, or innkeeper, as he proudly calls himself, and thanks to the Schicks’ efforts, returning to Grace Manor Inn each evening was as enjoyable for us as each day’s outing in Richmond. Imagination not mandatory, but fun if you can do it. Enjoy.

The innkeeper was very friendly and helpful. Everything was provided down to the smallest detail. The room was warm, bright, and relaxing. We were served an unbelievably delicious and luxurious breakfast both mornings. We would highly recommend this inn.

Both my wife and I enjoyed our overnight stay at Grace Manor. We received a very freindly welcome from Albert when we arrived and found the room comfortable and convenient although the bathroom plumbing was not the best. We were given good and helpful advice regarding our stay, and the things we wished to do while in Richmond. The breakfast was quite spectacular and enjoyable, although we had to leave the surprise final part for lunch! We appreciated how the owners had created a gracious ambience, but we would suggest a simple vase of a few fresh flowers rather than the silk/plastic displays. We thoughly recommend this to others

The owners and residents, Albert and Dawn, along with their two sweet yorkies, were very friendly and most welcoming. Albert's knowledge of the history of their home was impressive, as was the beautiful house itself. The landscaping was fabulous, with a pool and a fountain. We enjoyed sitting in the backyard and listening to the waterfall. Our rooms were beautifully decorated and spotless. Gourmet breakfast was delightful and served with panache by Albert. I would definitely recommend the Grace Manor Inn to anyone who would like pampering in a wonderful B&B!

We had a wonderful stay at Grace Manor. The rooms are exquisite and the Inn is beautiful. The breakfasts are a true experience... as good as you would expect in the finest restaurant. The owners/innkeepers are great. They are always ready to make your stay better or to provide local information, but when you want to be alone, you will not even know they are there. You can't go wrong here.

My wife and I stayed at the Fensterer-Davis suite and it was awesome! It has a queen-sized, flame mahogany bedroom set from the early 1900’s, which gives the impression of stepping back in time. The beautiful and spacious sitting room, which connects to the bedroom, has a Victorian sofa, chairs, and a desk. It also showcases a ‘wall of art’ featuring a collection of period-style paintings in gold-gilded frames. Can't wait to visit again!

Grace Manor Inn is a charming site, very comfortable and pampering. The furniture, artwork and fixtures are beautiful, pool area quite relaxing and Albert attends to your every need. Adding a touch of cuteness are the Yorkies, who never bothered us, but loved the attention if we wished. We highly recommend!

Grace Manor is like stepping back in time but without losing any of our modern day requirements. This is one of the most beautiful B&B's we have stayed in (and we have stayed in plenty) and is an experience not to be missed. Grandeur does not even begin to describe Grace Manor and the beauty is that all the downstairs rooms are available for use by guests. That is if you can draw yourself away from your room. We stayed in the Zimmerman suite and experienced sheer indulgence. We also got a chance to peep into some of the other rooms and whichever one you stay in you would not be disappointed. Added to this is the use of the outdoor swimming pool and patio, which on a hot August day is very welcome. Now to the breakfast, well once again this was beyond expectation, I was even offered a bellini, a first for any B&B and of course I thought it would be rude to refuse! Fresh fruit, cooked items and all finished off with homemade cupcakes, well what can I say, delicious! And finally to our hosts. We didn't really see much of Dawn as she was busy baking cupcakes for her shop that she has in Richmond but she was very nice. Albert is charm itself! He could not have been more attentive or welcoming and no detail was overlooked. Do yourself a favour, if you head to Richmond and I suggest you do, head straight to Grace Manor. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful trip and stay. Food was great. House is absolutely beautiful. Owners are very nice and accommodating, and their pet dogs were very friendly. Very quiet, and felt as if we had the whole place to ourselves. 5 stars!

Just that. We had a great time. The mansion was just amazing, filled with period furniture and some amazing history, which the inn keepers describe when you enter the house. The location is great, centrally located near Cary Town and downtown. It was quiet and the cupcakes were outstanding. Yes, even a day or two old. Sorry, Albert and Dawn, we were just too excited about the inn to have the cupcakes until we got back home. The strawberry shortcake was my favorite.

My husband and I enjoyed an anniversary stay in the Zimmerman Suite at Grace Manor Inn. The accomodations were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the three-course breakfast--a real treat! Look no further--this is the place to stay!

Four of us stayed in two rooms in the beautiful 3 story Grace Manor Inn mansion. Albert immediately made us feel welcome, and also suggested several good places to eat during our visit. The breakfast served every morning was delicious, and if you are lucky, you will get to sample one of Dawn's amazing cupcakes. We will definitely be returning next year and are looking forward to another wonderful stay at this fabulous B&B.

Our stay was wonderful. Albert & Dawn are hospitality plus. Grace Manor Inn is a beautiful historic home in Richmond, VA's "Fan district" & it has been lovingly cared for. I can't say enough about the breakfast. Absolutely delicious. I will recommend this bed & breakfast to all my friends.

Our recent stay at Grace Manor was wonderful. The hosts were so friendly and gracious. The home is beautiful and the food was exceptional! We were definitely pampered and enjoyed every minute. The location was perfect for seeing the sites of beautiful Richmond, VA.

The owners have done a wonderful job of restoring and maintaining this 100-year-old mansion. I am especially impressed with the artwork and antiques they have picked up at estate auctions. Albert has an outgoing "tour guide" personality. Dawn has a cupcake shop, so expect cupcakes for the final course at breakfast. They have a beautiful swimming pool, but of course it was not useable in January, so I think $150 per night is a bit high for a winter rate.

When visiting Richmond, Grace Manor is the place to stay. Perfect accommodations for a peaceful, relaxing, comfortable visit. Great location, wonderful restaurants. Owner Albert is very knowledgable on the area and has great recommendations for the best restaurants and things to do in the area. Wife Dawn prepares a breakfast that was delectable. Must visit her new cupcake shop in Carytown for some take home goodies. Guest were treated to one of her gourmet cupcakes after breakfast, a white chocolate/cranberry specialty. The home has character and exquisite parlors. Wish I was there during warm weather to enjoy the beautiful pool and hot tub. Albert and Dawn have it down to perfection to accommodating their guest needs. A wonderful all around experience.

We chose the Grace Manor Inn for their convenient location while in town to run the Richmond Marathon. Turned out to be an extremely comfortable home base with very accommodating hosts...we even decided to stay an extra night.

My wife and I enjoyed a belated wedding anniversary in November at the Grace Manor Inn. Albert and Dawn were most gracious hosts with a wealth of knowledge of the city. They attended to every detail of our stay. Their home is a treasure and every piece inside is a beautiful antique. The food and conversation at breakfast was most enjoyable as well. A great way to visit Richmond!

My wife and I and another couple spent a wonderful weekend in Richmond, staying at the Grace Manor Inn. While we were driving down (from DC) the staff called to make sure we were ok and to see if we needed help circumventing traffic. And the experience only got better from there. Being met at the gate after receiving excellent directions, and being served tea in the living room to relax after our trip, before being taken to our rooms to wash up and relax before setting out to explore and go out for dinner. We were well taken care of, and the owners made sure that anything we needed, whether directions to restaurants or breakfast idiosyncracies were handled quickly and thoroughly. The food provided was absolutely wonderful, and the warmth extended mad all of us feel like part of an extended family.

We had a marvelous weekend at Grace Manor. Al was a charming and welcoming host, and Dawn's breakfast creations were inspiring. A great experieince in a beautiful property.

My wife and I travel fairly extensively, and we think part of the pleasure of travel is where you spend the night. An absolutely fantastic 100 + year old restored mansion. It even has a salt water pool and a great patio for just hanging out. Breakfast was excellent and the host was gracious and accommodating (we arrived 2 hours early). We would definitely sstay here again.

This Inn was absolutely beautiful. The hosts, Albert and Dawn were so helpful and accomodating. They were happy to recommend local dining and shopping. We even tried out the saltwater pool. Wonderful! Loved the three little Yokies. The gourmet breakfast was such a treat! We looked forward to it every morning. Enjoyable all around. Why stay at a chain when your can be treated to a much more personable experience? Highly recommend!

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in the carraige house suite. Everything we could want was available to us--delightful suite which we could eat in or even cook in, comfortable rooms, and 3 precious and friendly yorkies who greeted us and made us feel right at home. Breakfasts were elegant, culinary delights.

I originally made a date error upon booking this B&B, and did not think I was going to be able to stay there on the dates I was going to be in Virginia. Albert was very helpful and accomodating in helping us clear up the error, so I had a great impression of this Inn two weeks before I even arrived. The positive experience continued when we were several hours later than planned arriving. We kept in touch with Albert via cell phone, and he went so far as to tell us what kind of traffic and driving times to expect driving from Washington DC to Richmond at rush hour. The Inn itself is absolutely beautiful, and Albert and Dawn were great hosts. Three course breakfasts were a delightful treat, and Albert was always eager to offer sight-seeing and dining recommendations. All in all, an outstanding experience.

My daughter and I had the pleasure of staying at the Grace Mannor Inn this summer. The breakfast was outstanding, served with grace and style. A wonderful atmosphere and a standout on our East Coast vacation. Will probably do it again!

Wonderful-the best word to describe the Grace Manor Inn. If your looking for a cozy and intimate place to stay, the Grace Manor is for you. Service was wonderful, pool was beautiful and so was the rest of the house. The best part about this Inn is waking up in the morning to the smell fresh cooking and coming down to the gorgeous dining room for a delicious three course breakfast. If your in Richmond this Inn is a must!

Great location, great experience. If you are staying here in the summer, the pool is a great touch. Breakfast on Sunday was delicious. Stayed in the Carriage House which is a modern aprtment rather than a hotel room. I highly recommend this B& B.

The Salt water pool was perfect for a private evening swim. The original architecture and period-style furnishings were gorgeous and comfortable. They have ensured that the original integrity of the Victorian property remains while accomodating the requirements of the 21st Century guests. They also answered every questions about the original owners - the Zimmermans - as if they had been their own ancestors. An in-room restaurant guide,complete with menus and take-along directions to each, a result of the innkeepers own dining experiences was very helpful and accurate! Every detail was taken into consideration by the innkeepers. Breakfast was fabulous! We're already looking for an "excuse" to return.

We stayed at the Grace Manor Inn for only one night on a road trip from Florida to Philadelphia. It was a wonderful break from being on the road. The inn is beautiful and hearing the history upon arrival was a treat. Our suite was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The innkeepers were terrific! They were extremely helpful with anything we needed, including a great recommendation for dinner (Edo's squid is a must!). A dip in the pool was the perfect end to our night a the inn. Breakfast in the morning was very relaxing and quite delicious. We will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and we will be back ourselves!

We spent an evening at the Inn and loved it. Dawn and Albert are gracious and accomodating. Breakfast was wonderful and the conversation around the table was fun, especially due to the leisurely pace of the very special multi-course meal. Our only criticism is that our private bathroom was out into the hall, not a problem for us but could cause some to pause. Also, our room was on the third floor with only walk up access. Again, we were fine, some may not be. It's a great place, what a B&B should be, a departure from a standard hotel. Hospitality at its best.

We stayed for two nights on our tour of Virginia July 2010. The house was fantastic and we made good use of the pool in the blistering heat. Dawn & Albert were wonderful hosts and we were made very welcome. The breakfasts were brilliant - no need to eat during the day. Will certainly return if we visit area again. Norma & Stan Lee UK.

My husband and I just wanted to get away for the evening and did not want to drive far. We stayed one night at Grace Manor....wow! What a gorgeous historic home. The innkeepers were great, the food at breakfast was outstanding, along with the conversation. We were lucky in that we were the only guests on that particular night so we had the place to ourselves. Bring a swimsuit if you go in the summer...they have a beautiful pool! The only challenge is that we stayed there during a ridiculous heatwave so it was not quite as cool as we would have liked but I doubt anyone in town could have kept their homes cool in heat indexes exceeding 103! Definitely need to check them out! We will be back, I hope.

We recently spent a July night at Grace Manor Inn as part of a Richmond history hunting expedition. The inn is located in a very handsome part of the city, with good access to major highways and easily found. The innkeeper provides very good off-road parking behind the inn. A very nice salt water swimming pool is in the back yard - though we did not use it. Albert, our host met us for a pre-arranged check-in time and showed us around the Inn as well as an interesting run-through of the history of Grace Manor. Inside Grace Manor is beautifully decorated and faithful to the turn-of-the-century style. This is a B&B that hosts 6 to 7 guests so the shared, or public space within the inn is very generous for reading or a glass of sherry in the evenings. We stayed in the Fensterer-Davis suite which was especially spacious and decorated as well as the public spaces. The Inn was of course scrupulously clean and well kept. A minor complaint was the temperature within the inn, the air conditioning felt a bit taxed, but the day had been in the 90s. In the morning Dawn cooked us a lovely breakfast - served very ably by Albert. Our guest company that day turned out to be a British couple - touring Virginia and the Blue Ridge mountains which provided an interesting morning chat before we left for Williamsburg, our next day's stop.

Stayed here during a very hot spell and was not overall disappointed. In cooler weather I would have rated it higher. That being said because the house was somewhat hot. Passed by the thermostat one evening and it said 81 degrees! They had a couple fans in the room, but as hot as it was, it blew warm air. The bed was very comfy. But, and a big but, their pool saved the day and was very relaxing. Loved the salt water, no burning or any smell. The dogs were cute and added a nice warm feeling, especially if you're a dog lover and they were very well behaved. Innkeepers were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was the most beautiful creation we have ever had at a B&B and we stay at several a year. Will not try to describe it as I will miss some of the ingredients, but for a starter we had champagne mango juice--and the tasty surprises went on and on. A couple other little things that would have put it over the top would be some bottled water or pop for guests and maybe cookies upon arrival--maybe we're getting spoiled but it does add a nice touch and makes a person feel very much at home. Also it was somewhat hard to locate this inn on a busy street as we saw no sign of a B&B anywhere and passed it a couple times. Worth the stay though once you're there!

Just spent a Girls' Getaway weekend at Grace Manor. My childhood friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our respite at this B&B. Great breakfasts, well appointed, clean bed and bath rooms, abundant sitting areas to sip wine and chat and a lovely pool and patio, just the right spot to savor the afternoon or, in our case, the clear sky and cool breezes of our last evening together. The innkeepers and their crew of three, adorable Yorkies attended to our every question and need. It was a great weekend. Highly recommend this B&B

Three childhood friends and I stayed at Grace Manor Inn for a girls weekend and it was fabulous. Dawn and Albert went out of their way to make sure we had a truly memorable time, both at their inn as well as in the city of Richmond. The service and food are beyond description. The suites were well beyond my expectations, and I've stayed at several B&Bs over the years.

I am a twenty year-old college kid who came down to Richmond to do research. I wanted to stay in a place that wasn't a Hampton Inn, to really get a feel for Richmond and have a comfortable place to come home to. I had such a fantastic stay at the Grace Manor Inn! I stayed in the Shortt suite, which was very spacious, with a desk and high-speed internet connection. All of the linens smelled wonderfully. And the food was so delicious! Every morning I felt like a queen. Dawn and Albert were incredibly nice and genuine people. Their restaurant recommendations were very appreciated (and right on). The inn is in a beautiful area of Richmond; I felt very safe even though I was traveling alone. This is the first bed and breakfast that I have stayed in, and Dawn and Albert have set the bar very high. I would recommend--or urge, rather--anyone to stay at the Grace Manor Inn.

I spent a very relaxing birthday weekend at the Grace Manor Inn. The public rooms and guest suites furnished with Victorian antiques are beautiful, but also have modern amenities (refrigerator, coffee pot, TV, terry cloth bathrobe). Summer in Richmond is hot and I particularly enjoyed the pool. The innkeepers are very friendly; Dawn is a gourmet cook and Albert is a fount of helpful information -- ask them to recommend a restaurant; they've checked them all out. And their three Yorkies are very cute.

We absolutely adored this B&B! The food was outstanding, the Carriage House was so charming and the poot area was an unbelievable treat on a super hot weekend! Highly recommend the Girls Getaway Package!

We spent two nights at Grace Manor and wish it could have been longer. Great room. breakfast and innkeepers. We highly recommend.

We stayed at Grace Manor Inn on a horribly hot weekend in Richmond. Although I was concerned about staying cool on the 3rd floor, we found that even though the temperature hit 102, we were comfortable at night with the fans and the A/C. Grace Manor Inn is a beautiful place, and the hospitality and the food could not have been better! I would recommend this wonderful inn to anyone.

After being on the road for ten days, and staying at some wonderful bed and breakfasts down South, we were bowled over by the Grace Manor Inn. This is a truly stunning turn of the 20th century home, impecably decorated with period pieces, homey and welcoming. Albert could not have been more hospitable --- and the breakfast was simply awesome!! (especially the surprise dessert - carrot cupcakes baked by Albert's wife Dawn, who just so happens to own a cupcake bakery in town). How lucky can you get!!!! Outstanding!!

What appeared to be an "ordinary" Victorian House on the outside turned out to be an incredible gem of an Inn. The house is vintage Victorian with every original detail intact. The rooms are large with sitting areas and all amenities. The Innkeepers, Albert and Dawn are extremely friendly and helpful. Dawn made a delicious gormet breakfast with an added treat- homemade carrotcake cupcakes! We highly recommend this wonderful B & B.

We came down for an event and our GPS unit said this was the closest spot next to where the event was held. Luckily there was one room open. What a Great place, its was Clean and Very well kept. Our hosts were polite and met our every need. The house is beautiful and our suite was one of the nicest I have stayed in. I would recommend this to anyone looking for some where to stay in the Richmond Area

I was recently looking at some photos from our wonderful stay at Grace Manor Inn back in May 2009 and I realized that I never took time to write a review. We stayed from May 18, 2009 to May 22, 2009 and all I can say is that I did not want to leave. Albert and Dawn are your dream host and hostess. Each day we were served a different breakfast and each day Dawn surpassed the previous morning's feast. The rooms are beautiful. We felt so at home. The new pool had just opened and we enjoyed sitting by the pool relaxing and reading. We live in California so we may not get back there any time soon, but this is our favorite B&B to date. You will not be sorry if you stay there. We miss you, Dawn and Albert. Thanks for everything! Cathy & Tom

The house is beautiful and Dawn and Albert are outstanding hosts. They go out of their way to accomodate and make your stay as comfortable as possible. From the wine and cheese awaiting your arrival to the outstanding collection of restaurant menus and recommendations in the room, nothing is overlooked. The breakfast is exceptional; freshly prepared gourmet and the perfect start to the day. I can't wait for my next visit!

Our stay at the Grace Manor Inn could not have been any better. We stayed in the Shorrt Suite for two nights. The room was absolutely beautiful, and the sitting room was far larger than expected. The house was immaculate, and Albert and Dawn represent the epitome of class, hospitality, and warmth. Plus, the food alone was worth the price of admission, and the Yorkies only added to our enjoyment. We will not look for a place to stay in Richmond next time; we already know where we'll be. We highly recommend this B&B for anyone staying in Richmond.

Visiting family in Richmond during the big snow before Christmas. The accommodations and the precious darling puppies made us feel we were staying with family - but the food was better!! Dawn and Albert were as gracious as anyone could be, and we will be seeing them again!

To stay at the Grace Manor Inn is to be transported to a time of Southern hospitality in a gracious Richmond mansion with modern convenience and gourmet breakfast - what could be better?

I was in Richmond moderating a panel discussion and lucky to have been put up at Grace Manor. It was my first time at a B&B and I instantly fell in love. I'm not sure if Dawn and Albert knew, but I took many pictures of the interior so I could show my friends and family how beautiful it was! I have never had a better rainy night all to myself. Amazing food I honestly felt like a princess the next morning. I am looking to return some time in the fall with my boyfriend to enjoy the city. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Several of my family members stayed at the Grace Manor Inn for three days for something of a reunion and to meet my daughter's husband's family. We could not have had a better time. Albert and Dawn are wonderful hosts, as are the Yorkies! Pool was fabulous and I don't have enough superlatives to tell you about the breakfasts. Go there now - we will certainly be back.

My wife and I chose this B&B to stay in as we attended a wedding and reception nearby. What a nice gem in this part of the city. Easily accessible, private and with fantastic Innkeepers, Dawn & Albert. Their 3 terriers were adorable (Teddy was my favorite). We took walks in the morning through the historic region located one-block behind the Inn. The pool was absolutely wonderful to relax to with the nice waterfall feature. I'm typically a big breakfast guy but the gourmet breakfasts were plenty and very delicious. We stayed in the Shortt Suite which is the smaller of the rooms but was perfect for my wife and I. Nicely decorated and also includes a separate sink. It is on the third floor and with the afternoon heat it got stuffy but the evenings were very comfortable with the added fans. The bathroom is smaller as well and was the only thing that disapointed my wife. However, it definitely beat staying in a local hotel that would have cost more with less space. Overall, this is such a wonderful inn made especially pleasant by Dawn & Albert welcoming and friendly demeanor....as well as their dogs!

Our stay at the Grace Manor Inn was a Christmas Gift from our daughter and son-in-law. We love to visit B&B places and have been to many. The Grace Manor has placed high on our list. The rooms were beautifully decorated. The music playing softly in our rooms when we arrived, along with wine and cheese, couldn't have been more relaxing. In fact, we put our feet up, sipped the wine and fell asleep for a short nap before venturing out for the evening. The hospitality and breakfast the next morning were superb.

We had the most fabulous stay at the Grace Manor Inn for our 5th anniversary. We have gone away every year for our anniversary and this year we decided to have an in town getaway. The Grace Manor Inn was the perfect way to celebrate. The new salt water pool was so relaxing, the room was fantastic and the hospitality was beyond compare. To top off the stay the gourmet breakfast Dawn prepared was unlike any other. It left us wishing we could stop by for breakfast every weekend. Our expectations were exceeded around every corner. Dawn and Albert truly have a gift! We will definitely be returning and have already recommended them to our friends and family!

My wife and my stay at the Grace Manor Inn was thoroughly enjoyable. Albert and Dawn were extra ordinarily thoughtful and considerate of their guest. My wife was delighted at the beauty of the inn’s ornate fixtures and furniture. The oversized bed with luxurious linens, bath with claw feet tub and a circular tub shower added a feel of opulence to our visit. The spaciousness and well furnished shared areas provide ample area to relax and enjoy the moment. The balcony and porch overlooking the back yard and pool area provided additional areas to sit and have conversations. The breakfasts were a highlight of our memories of the Grace Manor. The meals were colorful, served with a sense of flair by Albert and tasted GREAT. Dawn’s meals equal gourmet restaurant quality. If you are going to stay in a Bed and Breakfast in Richmond, you should not miss the opportunity to stay at the Grace Manor Inn.

Albert & Dawn went all out in their efforts to pamper my family and I the entire weekend we were here. The gourmet breakfast was to die for, and the presentation was fantastic. As my dad put it, "we felt like kings and queens here." It was my second time here, and my husband and I plan to be back next year!

A birthday getaway transported to a lusciously kept Victorian Inn complete with fireplace, exquisite dining (tailored to my needs including hot chocolate and soy milk), friendly and informative host and hostess, scallpoed latticed ceiling ornaments and off street parking. AND I am even typing this from their free computer so I can keep connected with bthe real world during our stay. A must!

The Grace Manor Inn is unquestionably the finest B&B that we have ever stayed in. The architecture, appointments and attention to detail are outstanding. Last night my husband and I stayed at the Grace Manor Inn in Richmond, VA. We were celebrating our 42nd wedding anniversary. The stay there was absolutely wonderful. The Inn is an early 1900's house in the fan district in Richmond. The house and its furnishings are beautiful. We had a large bedroom and a sitting room. Much of the furniture is original, the chandeliers, the fireplaces, etc. The hospitality was great even from the three Yorkees who share a part of the house. The restaurant they recommended for dinner was equally good. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. We would highly recommend the Grace Manor Inn to anyone visiting Richmond, VA.

This was likely the nicest B&B we have ever visited. The innkeepers were gracious and helpful, the breakfasts were delicious, and the accommodations ample. The home itself is lovely and well-decorated. The attention to detail was obvious from the moment we arrived, and we appreciated the attention the innkeepers paid to our interests and small requests. If you are an older traveler, there are a couple of things to keep in mind when booking: some of the suites are up two flights of stairs, and some of the suites have private restrooms adjacent to them (so you have to step into the hall outside your suite to use the facilities). Also, some of the suites have walk-in showers, while others have clawfoot tubs (which can be a challenge for some). We had a wonderful time, and we greatly appreciated the innkeepers' hospitality and activity suggestions. Our only suggestion would be to provide a large sofa in all of the suites, to ensure guests can truly stretch out and relax at the end of a busy day. We will likely return in the future, and would recommend this B&B to others without hesitation.

We recommend the Grace Manor Inn to anyone who is visiting Richmond and wants a special experience combined with a little history. The suites are beautifully done and comfortably large, breakfast is outstanding, and the hosts are very helpful and friendly. The location in Richmond's Fan district serves as a perfect home base. We enjoyed two enormous and beautiful rooms plus. The carriage house apartment was very modern and tastefully decorated. More than enough room for the two of us and very private. My Mom stayed in the two room suite. She was blown away by the decor. We have stayed in many bed and breakfasts. This was the best breakfast we had. They could not have been more considerate. We will definitely return.

We visited our daughter in Richmond last weekend and stayed at the lovely Grace Manor Inn. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable...a complimentary bottle of wine and cheese plate were a nice touch. We stayed at Grace Manor Inn at the tail end of a 3-day Labor Day weekend getaway, and it was definitely a lovely way to bookend our trip. Albert was the most gracious and fun host and an extremely knowledgeable resource for our sightseeing around Richmond. The location was perfect: minutes from Monument Boulevard and the best rib-joint in Virginia.

My husband and I enjoyed our getaway at Grace Manor Inn. We had a lot of space in our suite, and privacy (as the other suite on our floor was empty) Breakfast was excellent; the inn ownres were friendly and accommodating. Lots of books and Victorian bric-a-brac.

The grounds are delightful and inviting. The house is a Grand representation of Richmond circa 1905. It is so very elegant and welcoming. The kind attention of Dawn and Albert anticipated our every need while respecting our privacy. Each breakfast approached perfection. We enjoyed every moment visiting the Inn and look forward to returning next year.

Can you imagine sleeping in a museum? This is the place to try it in. Although unlike a museum, you are accorded exceptional hospitality and you can sit on the furniture.

We loved everything about the Grace Manor Inn. It is located in historic Richmond, close to VCU where my son attends. The grounds are immaculate, the 1910 house has been impeccably restored to reflect that era, and it is gorgeous. We stayed over the old carriage house in a one bedroom apartment which is spacious and decorated in bright colors, modern furniture ... what I would call 21st century art deco with some historic touches. FUN! Dawn and Albert are the consummate hosts, and Dawn is an amazing chef whose breakfasts were always a delightful culinary adventure. We recommend the Grace Manor Inn as highly as is humanly possible. Go. Enjoy Richmond. Be pampered!

What a beautiful, historic bed & breakfast in the Fan district in Richmond. It is meticulously appointed with many of the original fixtures. Although it rained while we were there, the backyard and outdoor patios make for wonderful extended space. Dawn and Albert are gracious hosts, along with their three "boys", Bear, Cocoa and Teddy - 3 lively Yorkies. The best part of the stay, however, is Dawn's delicious gourmet breakfast. I give it five stars! I would definitely stay again.

The regret we had was that there was not enough time at the Grace Manor Inn. An elegant home, with experienced innkeepers, it was both charming and comfortable. We'll be looking for excuses to return to Richmond and the Inn.

I had stayed in the Carriage House for quite a while during business trips to Richmond and could not wait to take my wife on a weekend getaway to Dawn and Albert's beautiful home. Even though I was used to their hospitality and professionalism as innkeepers I was again blown away by the breakfasts and attention to detail. As usual all their recommendations for restaurants and places to visit were right on! A place to return to and recommend to anyone who wants that extra special feel of being "pampered". I wish we could do this more often.

I stayed at the Grace Manor Inn for one night while on business. They had an affordable corporate rate, which made it possible to have a "home-away-from-home" type stay instead of the usual cookie cutter hotel stay. The inn-keepers are warm, friendly people and the Inn is architecturally very interesting. Dawn's breakfast was a delcious treat! Give it a try!

The Grace Manor Inn is beautifully decorated with period pieces and the 2-room suites are large and comfortable. The inn has all of the amenities that you would expect, but the ambience of an earlier time. The gourmet breakfasts were a special treat.

Everything was great. The carriage house is a perfect place for privacy and to actually have your own apartment while on vacation, with full kitchen and dining area.

Although we live less than two hours away, we had never been to Richmond and didn't know what to expect. We spent two nights at the Grace Manor Inn and couldn't have been more pleased. We stayed in the Fensterer-Davis Suite. We have been to a lot of B&Bs but this place is special. The two-room suite was spacious (good value for the money) and very nicely decorated. It also had an in-room fridge and microwave. The suite included private access to the front balcony overlooking a residential street in the historic neighborhood and shared access to the back balcony overlooking the garden. The only downside was that the private bath was not connected to the suite -- it was a few steps down the hall. The downstairs rooms were incredible -- restored with some very nice touches -- and the gourmet breakfast was great. Albert and Dawn made us feel very welcome. The inn is right in the middle of the Monument Avenue district with its wonderful early 20th century homes and within walking distance of several nice restaurants. We also loved Richmond. There is lots to see --history, architecture, parks -- and we got the feeling that you can enjoy the benefits of city living there without having to endure the crush of people and cars typical of urban areas. We'll definitely return, both to Richmond and to the Grace Manor. Bill & Mary

We spent a weekend at Grace Manor in August - it truly has a manor feel, with all the associated luxuries. The rooms were wonderfully finished, the bed was so comfortable, and the decor seemed plucked from a bygone age. Dawn and Albert (and the dogs!) made us very welcome, and treated us to sumptious breakfasts both mornings of our stay. The finishing touches, both inside and outside, make this house very special. Parking appears secure behind the house, although is somewhat limited. We would recommend this house for anyone seeking a relaxing, hustle-free break in Richmond.

A perfectly appointed mansion in the elegant style of that era in Richmond. The accomodations were luxurious, comfortable and cozy. The inn keepers were delightfully charming and just appeared whenever there was a need. After a very long trip, wine, cheese, coffee or tea and candy provided in our plush sitting room was just what we needed to unwind. We mulled over a very complete book of varied dining places with menus and precise directions but the personal evaluations by Albert were most helpful. Breakfast was a culinary delight to start our day. We certainly would return and stay longer to explore the area.

My wife and I stayed at the Grace Manor based upon its location in a neat old neighborhood in Richmond. We were treated to a beautiful room, outstanding food and great ideas on local restaurants and things to do. Albert is a gracous host and Dawn is an excellend chef.

We had Albert and Dawn cook the Romantic Dinner for us, and was that a treat! The spaces are beautiful, the food always a culinary delight and the hospitality warm and welcoming -- even the background music is well chosen to create the perfect ambience. Definitely an experience to be repeated.

We all stay at B&Bs for the home feeling at Grace Manor you get thta feeling and more. The rooms and service are spectacular but add gourmet breakfast and I am too spoiled for any other B&B in the area. Any my 3 four legged friends brighten the stay!

When we think of Richmond VA, we will now associate The Grace Manor Inn with this historical capital city. We do not know where to begin, Dawn and Albert, (innkeepers) truly do pamper you as advertised. We have stayed at many Bed and Breakfasts in our years together, and The Grace Manor Inn takes top honor! Our Zimmerman suite was charming and warm. The historical value of this bed and breakfast is second to none. We are still reminiscing about the breakfast Dawn served each morning. When we plan another Richmond vacation, we will be including The Grace Manor Inn!

No more staying at chain hotels when we travel to Richmond Virginia. What a pleasant surprise the Grace Manor Inn is. Every aspect of our stay was wonderful! This is run by two very professional Inn Keepers/Owners and it shows. They are very attentive and go out of their way to see that you have a pleasant stay. They are computer literate too, and you can see this with their Restaurant Suggestions book for each room and an active computer on the second floor and hard wire connections in each room. One thing I would suggest is that you use the front door upon your arrival.... it is much more impressive. Once you're checked in, you'll park in the back and use the rear entry which brings you through a cute garden area... but the front entry is the way to go for the full visual impact the mansion can offer. The mansion itself is very classic but you don't get that impression when you enter for the fist time via the rear entry. I can't say more about it's owners - you will enjoy your stay. I HIGHLY recommend the Grace Manor Inn. We visited Richmond to investigate moving there from San Francisco, and the GM Inn gave us a "homey" perspective of the city in a wonderful neighborhood. The grounds (a lovely, private, fenced-in backyard area) were immaculate and cozy. We stayed in the modern "carriage house" (separate from the main house, and has a VERY different feel), which was comfortable, clean, and we really enjoyed the privacy it gave us. The 3-course breakfast is unbelievable!! I was thinking about it all day -- gourmet quality, but light enough that you don't need a nap afterward. Albert and Dawn are young and friendly but leave you to your privacy -- not to mention extremely helpful with "the Fan" neighborhood. For dog lovers, the yorkies are adorable and lovable -- and for non dog-lovers, kept appropriately out of the way if you're not interested. I would absolutely stay there again in my next trip to Richmond.

My wife and I stayed at the Grace Manor Inn (Va) for three nights during May and occupied the Zimmermann suite. The bedroom was spacious, decorated and furnished in the Victorian style, well appointed and clean with a private lounge ensuite containing settee, TV, fridge and microwave. The separate bathroom nearby was clean, light and airy. The rest of the house was charming with many original Victorian features. The hosts - Albert and Dawn, were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. You can't go wrong with this choice - highly recommended.

Staying at the Grace Manor Inn is always one of our highlights when visiting Richmond. Locate just off of I-95 in the Historical Fan District of Richmond, this Bed & Breakfast has the feel of a home away from home. The rates are very fair and the innkeepers, Dawn and Albert are always welcoming. The three-course breakfast is something to look forward to each and everyday of your stay. Dawn always goes beyond the norm when preparing and cooking breakfast. Albert’s host skills, and historical knowledge of the inn and the surrounding area is second to none. Everything about our three night stay was delightful. The Inn is a beautiful turn of the century home with original molding, lighting fixtures and comfortable at the same time. Dawn is an amazing chef and breakfast became a highlight of each day. Albert and Dawn are welcoming, provide terrific directions, great restaurants tips, helped my husband get fresh flowers into the room to surprise me and even provided internet access to print our boarding passes for the flight home. This B&B is top of the list.

We just spent 3 nights at the GMI. It is located in the heart of the Fan, a wonderful neighborhood in the middle of Richmond. The building is magnificent and the rooms were as nice as the building. Beautiful Victorian furnishings in a historic house. The inkeepers, Albert and Dawn were terrific down to every detail. The breakfasts were unbelievable: completely different gourmet meals with fresh ingredients beautifully prepared and served. We have no complaints, would stay there again in a heartbeat and would recommend it very highly to our friends.

What a pleasant surprise! One moment my wife and I are grinding down Rt 95 on our way home to NY, and minutes later we are standing in a gorgeous 100 yr old home listening to our charming host Albert destribe to us it's fascinating history! We were given a tour through beautiful well appointed spacious rooms, past a kitchen that could only be equiped for a professional chef! Of course the next morning our palettes proved this to be true as we had a glorious breakfast prepared by Alberts spouse Dawn. Continuing our tour Albert led us upstairs to our Suite. Yes Suite! Two very large rooms seperated by a sink and mirror of which some distant relative waxed his handle bar mustache 70 yrs ago. Before Albert left us he reccommened a wonderful Italian Restaurant which we enjoyed very much. Richmond is an interesting and charming city, and we shall return to explore it further, as perhaps you as well as us,have overlooked its potential. After dinner we returned to our room with it's very comfy large bed and watched a little TV which is discretely tucked on a shelf high on the wall and comfortable to watch. I also checked out the books in the Inn which were varied and plentiful. We had a very restful sleep and looked forward to what we knew (based on the meticulious details of the house we had already experienced) a beautiful breakfast.Eight am sharpe we were greeted by Albert and his lovely and talented chef wife Dawn in their turn of the century decorated dining room. The special blended coffee they served along with their three course well presented delicious breadfast puts a major capital on the Breakfast part of "Bed and Breakfast" I suggest you request the "The snack 'n good corn bread" (Dawn I should have asked for another portion) In conclusion the hosts are a young talented nice couple who aim to please! This Bed and Breakfast is all it should be and more. My wife and I highly reccomend it and we will be back!

Albert and Dawn are wonderful hosts. The travel directions were easy to follow and accurate. Albert and Dawn made us feel at home and special. Albert was helpful, answering all of our questions and suggesting places to visit and see. The recommendations of where to eat were incredible. The suites are clean, comfortable and each is unique in spirit. Be sure to save room for breakfast. We had a wonderful time.

If you are looking for a first class place to stay while you visit Richmond, look no further than the Grace Manor Inn. From the welcome bottle of wine to the attention to making each guest feel special, Albert and Dawn are dedicated to making your stay memorable. The breakfast truly qualifies as gourmet and the rooms are tastefully decorated and very clean. A notebook not only lists many restaurants nearby but even provides the directions. They really do try to think of everything to make your visit special and in my opinion they succeed.

This inn boldly promises to "Let us Pamper You", and we were not let down. The Grace Manor is a spacious, circa 1910 house located in the heart of Richmond's Fan district, just a block from Monument Avenue, and within easy commuting distance to downtown, the museums, and local battlefield parks. My wife and I stayed 3 nights in the Fensterer-Davis suite, consisting of a large bedroom and an adjoining, equally large and very comfortable sitting room. Our private bath/shower was just down the hall. The public areas on the first floor are a wonder, beautifully apponted in late Victorian style. The innkeepers, Dawn and Albert, are professional chefs; their breakfasts are always different. of 5-star hotel quality, and presented with flair. We liked this wonderful place and would recommend it without any qualification to our friends and family.

My wife and I stayed two nights in April '08 at the Grace Manor Inn. Instead of the casual and relaxing time we planned, we found ourselves trying to do some business in a foreign country. Dawn and Albert Schick provided the phone, the computer, the banking advice so that we could accompish our business. They were superb with the more common things one hopes to find at a fine B&B. Things like gourmet breakfasts, welcome wine and cheese, and great rooms. What we remember most is the friendly and gracious attitude of the hosts. Finally, anyone who has left a dog at home can enjoy three great Yorkies. We really could not think of anything more that one could wish for in a B&B. Visit this B&B. Mu husband and I spent 2 nights at Grace Manor in March and had a wonderful time. The Inn itself was a treat because of the history and the ambience, but Albert and Dawn made it even more special by their hospitality and delicious food. We will certainly put it on our list of places we will return to.

Wonderful innkeepers who hit a perfect balance between friendliness and respect for visitors' privacy. Gorgeous house, delicious gourmet fare AND best of all (for us at least) three energetic and friendly little Yorkies to give us many doggie kisses! (For those who aren't quite as enthusiastic dog lovers, the pups are kept out of the way of guests...) A lovely stay, highly highly recommended. Wish I could post pics, it's a beautiful place. Try the Carriage House for a more private getaway, we really liked it.

My mom, sister's mother-in-law, and I stayed the night at the Grace Manor, specifically in carriage house. It was by far the best weekend in a B&B I have experienced, yet! I've traveled through many B&B's and have never been so comfortable as I was in the Grace Manor. The three course breakfasts with mimosa's and Italian coffee were extravagant. Their special egg's benedict with chive infused hollandaise sauce was by far the most amazing surprise I have experienced

I love this B&B... so much so I hate to even tell everyone about it. But I will. If you are looking for a relaxing get away this is the place. It is quiet, relaxing and in the heart of Richmond, so there is a lot to do. Your Innkeepers go overboard to make it better than home. You will hate to leave. I always do.

My wife and I spent two nights at the Grace Manor, at the beginning of last week. We stayed in the Schott Suite, which is a delightful space to spread out and relax. Dawn and Albert's hospitality reflects that at the time when the manor was in its heyday: they are the hosts, you are their guests and their home is yours to enjoy and to relax in. All in all, a beautiful place to unwind and step back in time.

I was in Richmond to attend my daughter-in-law's baby shower. It was a very busy weekend in Richmond because of the French Film Festival, yet Dawn and Albert, despite being completely booked, greeted us and attended to our needs as if we were their only guests. We stayed in the newly renovated Carriage House, behind the main house in which the decor is Victorian, as one can see from their pictures. The Carriage House is modern, with brightly painted walls and a contemporary feel. We were so impressed with the breakfasts that we asked if my son and daughter-in-law could join us on the last morning of our stay, and Dawn and Albert graciously accommodated them. I am a vegetarian and Dawn accommodated my diet seamlessly--I did not feel as if I was having a "lesser" or "special needs" meal. In fact, I don't think the other guests realized that my meal was any different from theirs. I am trying to stay within the guidelines set for us as reviewers, but I must say, if any B&B deserves hyperbole, this one does.
