Our stay was simply amazing! The Grace Manor Inn has so much to offer from a fabulous gourmet breakfast to a beautifully decorated sweet and don't forget the cute Yorkies that are exceptionally well behaved! A five-star experience to be sure! My husband and I cannot wait to return for our next visit.

We just finished a weekend in Richmond visiting our daughter. Neither of us had ever been there before and our stay at the Grace Manor was wonderful, the room was beautiful, breakfast was great and the host most gracious. I would recommend this inn to anyone who is visiting Richmond, you won't be disappointed! Tom & Diane from NJ

Nothing better for this weary business traveler than... free city parking, being greeted upon arrival at my car, and having my suitcase carried to my room! Located just a few miles off the highway...No need to drive through the historic fan district to a chain hotel again - I plan to stay at the Grace Manor Inn when in Richmond. If you are hotel fatigued and want that home away from home feel this is your place. Walking distance to restaurants and VCU campus. Beautiful and safe neighborhood for morning or evening walk/run up Monument Street. My 3rd floor room was spotless, had an adjacent sitting room with TV, and a private bath. The bed was comfortable, linens crisp, and plenty of soft bath towels were provided. Oh and did i mention the beautiful back garden/patio/inground pool? - Wow! Thanks to Albert for the delicious parmesean eggs/asparagus breakfast (no powdered eggs here), his hospitatility, and for accomodating my earlier dining time. Hope to be back soon!

The Grace Manor Inn is a very nice house in the Fan District. We enjoyed the Shortte Suit very much. Loved the sitting room. Dawn and Albert we very gracious hosts and breakfasts were very yummy. After a long day of sight seeing around Richmond, the pool was a welcome cool down. And who can forget the Yorkies. So cute and friendly. Will definitely stay at the Grace Manor again. Thanks Albert and Dawn.

Albert and Dawn are wonderful Innkeepers. The house fits all the elegance that a bed and breakfast should have. The location is excellent. Bring a swim suit as the back has a beautiful pool and sitting areas. My only suggestion would be that a mirror is put above the tall dresser in the Fenster-Davis suite. I am a tall gal and all the mirrors were too short for me and the lighting at the very charming sink in the room was too dim for a mirror. We enjoyed our stay and their recommendations and making a reservation for our dinner was very thoughtful. Thank you for a small fridge and wine glasses in the suite. Beth and David PS-have a wonderful journey this summer!

I can't say enough good things about this B&B. I would give it ten stars if I could. The place itself is beautiful and charming with it's original 1900's character. They keep it very clean and comfortable and the hospitality was unbelievable. They go out of their way to make everything wonderful for you. Our room had everything we could have possibly needed and more. The breakfast sealed the deal for me. As I sipped my mimosa in the dining room and waited for my first of three courses, I was positive I never wanted to leave. You know they are doing something right when you have had a jam packed day and you come back to a place that feels like home. Again, the host's were fantastic, and always made themselves available for you. They leave binders in your room full of places and restaurants they recommend, which I think is genius. We will have to come back when it's warmer so we can enjoy the beautiful pool area and fire pit. I feel like this will be a spot we will return to many times. My husband and I already call it "our place" in RIchmond and recommend it to everyone we know.

This was a fantastic place. Our suite was beautiful, with brand new wooden floors, a bedroom and a sitting room, all in antique furnishings and antique rugs. The breakfast was an experience. Albert, the owner, had a 3 course gourmet breakfast everyday prepared and served by himself, complete with mimosas and Bellinis. I am glad I didn't have to leave before his breakfast. We met other guests at the family style breakfast and enjoyed the conversation. One was a Navy engineer, one a librarian attending a genealogy convention. I liked it so well, I wanted references to other B and B's in different parts of the country that shared this quality.

WE spent a weekend recently in Richmond, and stayed at the Grace Manor Inn......our stay was wonderful, Albert the innkeeper was so hospitable, friendly and accommodating....would recommend Grace Manor Inn very highly!

Our stay at the Grace Manor Inn and the generous hospitality of Albert and Dawn was unparalleled to any other B&B I have stayed in. They are professional, accessible, kind, and have a full understanding of dietary needs especially Gluten allergies. Thank you so much Albert and Dawn. The Vegas Ladies.

My wife and enjoyed a two nite stay at this lovely Victorian era B&B with period furnishings in mid March and were blown away by the service and cuisine. These were some of the best breakfasts we've ever had at an inn and the cupcakes for dessert topped it all off. Albert and Dawn were very gracious and accommodating and the yorkies entertaining and friendly. We can't wait to visit Richmond again and stay at Grace Manor. Highly recommend!

This was a first for us. Chose the stay from a Living Social opportunity. We could not have been more pleased with the choice and the amenities available. The accomodations were excellent, stayed in the Carriage House Suite. Apart from the main house and serene. Breakfast each morning was excellent, a four course delight. The host, Albert Schick, was informative and entertaining. Quick to offer suggestions. I would strongly recommend this fine B&B to anyone looking for a place to stay in Richmond.

We had a great weekend at this B&B. Albert, one of the owners, was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfasts stood out - we were served unique, delicious dishes, and any dietary issues were asked about in advance. Their 3 Yorkies visited us briefly after breakfast, and they were surprisingly well-behaved and calm given they were surrounded by strangers wanting to hold them! We stayed in the Shortt Suite, which I believe is one of their cheapest room options, and it was great. It's on the top floor, along with one other suite. The bedroom was plenty large, and the connected sitting room was comfortable. The TV in the sitting room was small, especially given the distance between the TV and seating, so if you plan to go to a B&B to watch endless TV or movies, this might not be the room for you (but then again, why would you want to sit in front of a TV on vacation?). However, I believe the sitting room on the main floor was open for us to use - and it had a very large TV in it, although it wouldn't be as private. From our bedroom, we had to walk a few feet into the hallway to get to the bathroom, but at least the bathroom was private. Our bathroom had a small shower stall, no tub - which was fine with us. The only hiccup during our stay was that upon driving back to the B&B at 10-11pm, the B&B's private parking spaces were very crammed; there were no lines and it was unclear whether 3 or 4 cars are intended to be parked there. We didn't think we'd fit, tried to call Albert for advice about where else to park but got no answer, but ultimately with slow, careful maneuvering, we squeezed in. Albert immediately apologized when he saw us the next morning, and he decided he would look into making sure the spaces were clearly marked to avoid a similar issue in the future. So, given his reaction to this small inconvenience, I would still rate our experience as 5/5! We would certainly consider staying here again ... perhaps the summer - they have a great looking pool!

My boyfriend and I stayed here Fri-Sun (2 nights) off of a deal I found on living social. The house was beautiful, large, and looked like a classic bed and breakfast! The owners are a married couple but I only met this husband and he was so friendly assisting us with our bags, giving us a tour of the home and features, and he cooks the breakfast every morning! You also get a cupcake in the morning with your breakfast as his wife owns the local cupcake shop in Carytown. Everything in the room was comfortable, clean, and the bathroom was spotless. It was so nice to get away and not stay in a standard hotel. There's even a pool in the back! I will definitely be returning and recommending this to family & friends. PS-they have 3 yorkies that are adorable!

We enjoyed our two night stay very much! Albert was quite the host, very congenial and informative. We definitely would return for another trip. Their two Yorkies (dogs) were very cute as my wife wanted to take them home with us Brian and Betty Zittrain

This was a two-day break from the Christmas rush, and we spent it in elegant luxury, with gourmet breakfasts and friendly, knowledgeable innkeepers who took great care of us. The Inn is awesomely beautiful, and it's located near many Richmond attractions. We visited the VA Fine Arts Museum and the Virginia Repertory Theatre, and walked into the Jefferson Hotel to see the beautiful Christmas decorations. Albert and Dawn (and their three adorable Yorkies). My husband says it's like living upstairs in Downton ABbey - and that's a pretty good description!

We've been to Richmond several times, and Grace Manor has provided by far the best experience. Not only were the rooms beautiful and the breakfast delicious, but Albert provided great travel tips for Richmond attractions, dining, and even cooking! His hospitality was excellent and he made sure that from before the trip -- he called several times to ensure he'd be there when we arrived -- we felt welcomed and taken care of.

Although we live in Richmond, Virginia, we wanted to try a bed and breakfast closer to downtown that we could recommend. We found it! Grace Manor Inn is beautifully decorated in period pieces and style. It was luxurious and elegant, but comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious and ample enough to serve as brunch. The pool outside was so inviting that we actually sat out there one afternoon (in November). The inn is close enough to the important sights, but very quiet at night. We never heard the 2 Yorkies, but they were very friendly and stayed with the innkeeper, Albert, who was very gracious and always made sure everything was to our liking.

My husband and I stayed in the Fensterer-Davis Suite, which was such a grand room. Very comfortable bed and bathroom was immaculate. My husband had informed Albert ahead of time of our diets (vegetarian/gluten intolerant) and there was really no need to worry. He made the most delicious breakfasts and fully accommodated my restrictive diet. Even made sure the third course was safe for me to eat. (I won't spoil the third course, but it is the best idea ever!) Their two dogs were sweet-- you would never know they were there when they weren't out roaming. We couldn't have asked for a better experience for our last getaway before our baby arrives. We will definitely be going back as soon as we can.

My husband & I stayed here for our 5th wedding anniversary weekend. The location was great because great eateries, museums, & shops were within walking distance. The gourmet breakfast was second to none. We stayed in the Carriage House, which is private & decorated modern with a flat in Europe feel. The owners were VERY attentive & very knowledgable on the area. They accommodated us with a late check-in which was nice since it was a 6-hour drive from our home. The main house is gorgeous & gives off a warm, friendly feel. We would definitely stay here again.

Albert was a gracious host and extremely helpful in providing advice on the sites to see in Richmond. His breakfast each morning was superb. Our room and sitting room were beautifully appointed. The bathroom, while private, did not have direct access from our room or sitting room. This would not prevent me from staying there again.

I stayed at Grace Manor Inn during my last business trip to Richmond. The Innkeeper has a wealth of knowledge about the home that's very interesting. I was the only guest staying in the Inn that night, so I had 7,500 sq feet to roam practically to myself. I am a vegan and upon telling the innkeeper Albert, he was happy to cook a gourmet plant-based breakfast for me. The breakfast is a ROYAL EXPERIENCE. I must have taken one hundred photos of the food he prepared so gorgeously. What a fabulous experience. The bed was extremely comfortable and I slept like a baby. I stayed in the Shortt Room and it was huge and beautifully decorated. I had a fridge, and all the kitchen appliance in my room so I never had to go downstairs to refrigerate the food I brought home from dinner. Love this place and will go back! Especially for his wife's vegan cupcake, the Mocha Pots de Creme--YUM!!!

We really enjoyed staying in the Carriage House. It is like having your own apartment (with perfect size kitchen) yet you get to walk down in the morning to a wonderful breakfast by a fabulous host (Albert). The pool was fabulous for an afternoon swim before walking to great local restaurants and bars. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it!

I recently had the opportunity to experience a stay at this establishment in the Zimmermann Suite and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone else. The rooms were large, clean, airy, and bright while being welcoming. It was worth climbing the stairs, and the bathroom left me speechless! It is larger than many modern bedrooms and I judge places by the bathroom. Someday, I hope to return and spend another afternoon lounging by the pool, plucking fresh figs, once I was informed how to tell a ripe one, and enjoying the experience.
4.6 on August 11, 2013
my first B&B, and it makes even 3 and 4 star hotels look pale. Not just a single room, but a sitting room and a separate bedroom, as well as adjoining bathroom. My friend and I stayed in the Zimmerman and Shorrt rooms. Both were very comfortable, hers slightly quieter and cooler, mine with a larger sitting room. Both on the third floor, so those with knee problems may want to consider one of the other two rooms. But the rooms worth the climb. The breakfasts were excellent, served with a smile, with just the proper amount of attentiveness. No hovering over the shoulder, but refills and other needs attended to in timely fashion. The location is perfect for exploring museums, civil war sites, and the shopping district of Carytown, as well as more eating places than I have time to list. Fresh figs off the tree was an unexpected bonus, and the pool is a perfect way to wind down after a day of exploring. The Shorrt suite's bathroom is minimal, with a shower and the basic needs. If you like a bit more room, and a tub, the Zimmerman or one of the other rooms might be more to your liking. But for the money, I don't think you can find a better place to stay while in the city. I look forward to going back and trying out the Carriage house on my next stay.

This is the most excellent place to stay at if you are going to Richmond. Our family stayed for six nights and we had two suites (Zimmerman and Fensterer-Davis). The suites were extraordinary. They were spacious, elegant and very pleasant with every conceivable convenience. The gourmet breakfast was delicious, prepared and served by Albert (the owner) every morning. Albert was very responsive to us as guests to make our stay as good as possible. The Inn was very clean and tidy. The owners have two yorkshire terriers, but we hardly took notice of them. One of our daughters is allergic to dogs, but she had no problem at all. We highly recommend Grace Manor Inn!

Over the past 30 years I have stayed in dozens of B & Bs. The Grace Manor is in the top two. Albert was the perfect host... and chef, the yorkies adorable, the room superb, and all of this because of a destination that became part of our plans by accident. So, some accidents are good. The only complaint I have is that I would have preferred softer pillows.

My boyfriend and I stayed over a weekend in the Zimmerman Suite on the third floor of the inn. The innkeeper, Albert, was a gracious and attentive host and the multi-course breakfast both days was absolutely fantastic. The two resident Yorkies, Bear and Peanut, were very sweet. If you're not a dog person, you'd barely know they were there, but once we made it clear that we love dogs, Albert brought them out to say hi. The major pluses? A salt water pool and gorgeous, period furnishings and fixtures. The common rooms are stunning. Minuses? Though each suite has its own bathroom, none are en suite, so you have to leave your room to get to your shower/sink/toilet. (This is the only reason I didn't give the room five stairs.) There is a small sink in each suite, but that's not helpful at 3 am when you stumble out of bed to use the bathroom. That said, however, the bathroom was spotless, nicely appointed, and the deep, claw foot tub was wonderful. If you're a light sleeper, you might have trouble. It's an old house with hardwood floors and if you're in one of the two suites on the third floor and the other suite is occupied, you will hear your neighbor (not necessarily everything they say, but moving around and definitely when they leave their suite to go to the bathroom), but that's pretty standard for B & B's, so if that sort of thing bothers you, bring earplugs. If it really bothers you, you'd likely be happier in a hotel anyway. Overall, a comfortable stay in a beautiful home with an incredibly friendly and welcoming host.

A gorgeous, beautifully appointed inn in Richmond. Our suite of rooms, with our private bathroom, just could not have been better. We did not spend time in the lovely downstairs parlors because our suite was so pleasant. Albert, the owner/host, prepares an excellent breakfast, has coffee ready early, and loves to talk about the history of the inn. All the amenities were present. Great information on restaurants with personal recommendations by Albert. One of the finer B&B's we've ever stayed in and we've stayed in many. We highly recommend the Grace Manor Inn.

We stayed three nights at the Grace Manor Inn and loved it! Very clean (thank you, Nora), amazing gourmet breakfasts, and Albert was a gracious host, very helpful and accommodating (we didn't see much of Dawn as she was busy with the cupcake shop). The location is great, with off street parking a plus. The pool and garden area were beautiful and relaxing. My husband has a bad back and the bed in the Shortt Suite was super comfortable. Although the Victorian inn is elegantly decorated, it offers a nice informal atmosphere. Great to have a microwave and mini fridge in the room. WiFi worked great, too. Just know when you're booking that none of the rooms in the house have ensuite bathrooms - they are private, but outside your suite (bathrobes are provided, but they don't necessarily fit all guests). While we knew the Shortt Suite bathroom was small (which was not a problem), the light (especially) and ventilation were lacking. One other small quirk was that the sink in the sitting room of the suite (great feature because of lack of light in bathroom) was pretty much useless - barely a trickle. There is central air that worked very well, plus a few fans in our suite, so the temperature was always comfortable. Also, the Shortt Suite is on the top floor - no elevator, stairs only - which was not a problem for us, but just a heads up. We loved the Grace Manor Inn and the warm hospitality of our hosts. Would definitely stay here again when we return to Richmond.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Carriage house two nights and absolutely loved it! I live in Indiana and he lives in North Carolina so this was an opportunity to spend some much needed one-on-one time together. The house is beautiful and very close to many of the main streets and restaurants. Albert gave us a map right when we arrived and marked all of the popular tourist spots on it for us. We were able to tour the House of the Confederacy (Excellent!), walk down Monument Avenue, visit their cupcake shop (Carytown Cupcakes; Yum!) in Carytown, drive along the James river, and eat at some very nice restaurants. The best food we ate during our visit was definitely breakfast cooked by Albert and Dawn! Delicious! If I visit Richmond again, I will definitely be staying at the Grace Manor Inn. Thank you Albert and Dawn for a wonderful weekend!
5 on March 03, 2013
The house is wonderfully appointed. You could spend a couple days just checking out the artwork, furniture, and other pieces throughout the house. Albert does it all and is a great breakfast chef. Our visit was in early March, so it was too early to use the pool, but it was clean and open for use. Come July and August, the pool would've been a welcome feature on top of what we enjoyed. Our private suite was equally well-appointed. A very comfortable queen sized bed, a vanity sink between the bedroom and a large reading/sitting room with enough books for several summers, and a bathroom with a bath tub and shower.

Stayed here over Presidents' Day Weekend 2013 after purchasing a voucher on Livingsocial. We had a great weekend here. The Inn is well-located in Richmond, within walking distance of Monument Avenue and a number of good restaurants. It was also within a quick driving time to Carytown and downtown Richmond. The manager was very knowledgeable about local restaurants and gave good advice for where to get dinner when we checked in relatively late on Friday. The Inn itself is beautiful with several well-furnished common spaces in what I took to be a fin-de-siecle style and an attractive backyard. We would have gone for a swim in the pool if it hadn't been February - I'm sure in the summer it's a great benefit to have an inviting pool so close by. Breakfasts were delicious and ended with a cupcake from Carrytown Cupcakes. We can't recommend Carrytown Cupcakes enough, and having them at the end of breakfast was unusual but highly appreciated. Our Livingsocial voucher came with two free Carrytown Cupcakes, so we got a lot of effective free advertising. (The manager's wife owns the Cupcake store, so that helps explain the cross-marketing.) Our voucher also came with free tickets to the Museum of the Confederacy, which is an attraction worth visiting. While we stayed there, we also visited the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, which is close and has an excellent permanent collection. The owners have three Yorkies, but I didn't hear anything out of them while we were in the main inn, and in fact they stayed out of the common areas entirely so far as I could tell. Overall, highly recommended. We will stay there again when we get a chance to come back to Richmond and stay in the city, and we will recommend it to our acquaintances in the area, as well.

My wife and I recently stayed at Grace Manor Inn and what an awesome time we had. The property is tremendous, and a work of art in its own right. The location was perfect with attractions that were within walking distance or short drives away. The Innkeeper, Albert, is open and friendly, and an invaluable resource of information about the area. We felt at home our entire stay. The music at breakfast is a bonus, and the entire breakfast is an outstanding production that ends with a cupcake from the best cupcake shop in Richmond.

We just wanted a quiet getaway from the hustle- bustle of pre Christmas preparations and Grace Manor more than fit the bill. Inkeepers were superb. We trvel all over the country staying in B&B's and I will say they served the best breakfast we have ever had. Pride of ownership shows here. We love the woodwork, craftsmanship, furnishings, artwork and feeling of older houses. Glad to see the inkeepers furnished in period correct pieces as I could enjoy my back at the B&B time just looking at all the details. The Inn is close to every thing we wanted to see and within walking distance to most. We enjoyed walking the surrounding neighborhood and looking at how it was decorated for Christmas. Two unobtrusive Yorkies will greet you at the door ang make you feel welcome to their home upon your return each night. Overall, a great stay and experience. Morgan

Our stay at the Grace Manor Inn was the relaxing getaway we meant it to be. Our room, or rather suite of rooms (the Cottage Suite) was comfortable, clean and fun. The breakfast was delicious -- with several touches that made it memorable. And Albert went above and beyond to make sure that my friend and I got the movie night we had planned on.

This was not only our first Bead&Breakfast, but the first time I had been able to really spend time with my husband in four or five months. He arrived in Fort Lee a week or so ago with the Navy and we absolutely could not have asked for anything better! The house itself is gorgeous; antiques, original chandeliers, actually read books (not just bought for looks), and breath taking works of art. Set in a great area! Close to W Cary Street for lovely local shopping and eateries, also Albert and Dawn's Cupcake Boutique! Theater, Arts, History centers and museums all very close by. And if you want to just take a walk go for it, the area is absolutely beautiful and rich with history. Albert is the most fantastic host and Dawn is so pleasant. They really made our stay the most perfect and we are so grateful for their hospitality. Even the other guests were great and we all had the most wonderful conversations over the to die for three course breakfast! Their house keeping staff is not only thorough but very nice. Last, but not least, Bear and Peanut, their two Yorkies, are the cutest little things in the world! They are very friendly, and if you are in the least bit worried about dog hair, don't be. I didn't see a bit of it anywhere, and a Navy uniform is very good white glove! My husband pet them and made friends...nothing, not even on his pea coat which tends to pick up anything and everything! Going to Richmond? Stay here!

We spent two nights at the Grace Manor Inn as a romantic getaway and a home base for exploring Richmond. The guest rooms and common areas are beautiful - the inn keepers take obvious joy in their roles as hosts and preservationists. Breakfast is exquisite. We appreciated the restaurant list and recommendations for local activities, which helped us plan a relaxing and memorable weekend.

This is a terrific place to stay if you're looking for beautiful historic architecture, elegant decor, friendly innkeepers, gourmet breakfasts, creature comfiorts and an all-around sense of being welcome and pampered. We were there for a sisters seekend, and everything about the way Albert treats guests contributed to the sense of it being a special event for us.

I've stayed here on my own for business as well as for pleasure with my significant other. They've got special rates for business travelers, and if you're on the road as often as I am, this has it all over staying at a hotel. This really is the place to stay. If you're wavering between this and another place, stay here. You will not second-guess your choice. It has turn-of-the century elegance in modern day -- nothing looks shabby or faded as is sometimes the case at B&Bs that try to preserve a more traditional charm. From the gorgeous period furniture to the luxurious fabrics and window treatments, you just kind of want to wander around the house, drink it all in, and imagine you are wearing an outfit borrowed from Lady Mary of Downtown Abbey. One thing that's definitely modern, though -- the bed. I can't remember ever feeling so comfortable in a bed that wasn't my own. Very cozy and supportive; easy to relax in but didn't wake up with the tweaks in my back that too-soft mattress sometimes cause. I also loved the claw-foot tub and the fact that they provide you with bubble bath to use in it. And if you are a food person, you'll love waking up to Albert's breakfast. A lot of B&B's I've gone to have a kind of self-serve atmosphere going, which is fine of course, but there's something wonderful about the table service way Albert does it. It's a three-course gourmet meal (the final course is a cupcake from his wife's delicious shop -- I found myself looking forward to that course very specifically when I made a return trip recently), and the way Albert serves his guest has all of the luxury of finer things, but no stuffiness or stiffness, which frankly I would not be interested in first thing in the morning. Whenever I stay at the Grace Manor Inn, I feel like I've indulged in something special for myself. You really ought to see it for yourself.

We spent 3 lovely days there while touring Richmond Civil War Sites. Albert provided a wonderful breakfast each morning and had a detailed list of local restaurants with full menus in our room. The choices were outstanding. We highly recommend the Grace Manor. We will make this our place to stay in Richmond Jim & Barb from Illinois

We stayed at the Grace Manor Inn while in town for my daughter to visit the University of Richmond. It was a great choice as it gave us a sense of the city of Richmond and was only a short drive to campus (as well as to other Richmond sightseeing locations). Our suite was also nice, as the sitting room gave us plenty of room to spread out. Albert was very friendly and accommodating. He gave us plenty of advice and suggestions on things to do and see (and places to eat!) during our trip. We will definitely make a return visit.

Our stay in Richmond at the Grace manor Inn was very enjoyable. Our room, the Shortt Suite was really nice and roomy and the sitting area very relaxing with a very comfy couch and chair. The bed was great and we slept like tops! Bathroom down the hall was even alright though the shower a wee too small for the "full figured". We really enjoyed the breakfasts which were truely gourmet and of course the hosts were very warm and iinviting. We liked the fact that they had a folder of recommended restaurants that they had actually tried themselves. If we ever get back to Richmond we would definately stay there again.

This was our first bed and breakfast and we weren't sure exactly what to expect. We were greeted by Albert, who gave us a tour and a bit of history regarding his charming inn and took the time to explain places to see and things to do. We were, needless to say, quite impressed - both by Albert and his B&B. The room was "period", except for the modern ameneties, and very comfortable. The host was wonderful and made us feel right at home. His gourmet breakfasts were wonderful too! We enjoyed sitting by the pool and relaxing, and loved playing with Peanut and Teddy, their two sweet Yorkies. We will be sure to stay at the Grace Manor again in the near future and would recommend this establishment to anyone who looks for a quiet, quaint, and charming place to stay in Richmond.

If you looking for a place to stay in Richmond don't look any further, this is it ! We were looking for a place to stay in Richmond while visiting our daughter and chose to stay at the Grace Manor Inn. Our daughter said that we could not have chosen a better spot right off of Monument Ave in the middle of a beautiful historic part of town with plenty of stores and restaurants in walking distance. My favorite little store for picking up a nice bottle of wine and some cheese and crackers was the Strawberry Market on 415 Strawberry Street. Albert and Dawn could not have made our stay more pleasant, and there little Yorkies are adorable! The three coarse breakfast was delicious, the suites are pretty and spacious and I enjoyed relaxing by the pool after a full day in Richmond. We are already looking forward to our next visit at The Grace Manor Inn.

We had never stayed in a bed and breakfast before and decided to visit Richmond and stay At the Grave manor inn and we were not disappointed. Our every need was attended to by Albert. He is a fantastic host and chef. We enjoyed sightseeing, we were given coupons to the local attractions. We highly recommend staying here. Most of all. The little Yorkies were so delightful. A must see when in Richmond!! Also, the carytown area is close by and cupcakes from the lady of the manor's shop were the best we have ever tasted! Don't think we will ever stay in a regular hotel ever again

The property was beautiful and well kept, and the surrounding neighborhood was charming. The 3 course gourmet breakfasts were top notch. We stayed in the Shortt Suite and while the adjoining, personal sitting room was very relaxing and comfortable, the room did not have blinds, just guazy curtains, so it was quite bright in the eastern facing room every morning! The innkeeper, Albert, was very accomodating and pleasant, especially considering I had food allergies and required special dishes for breakfast each day. My husband and I had a wonderful stay there, though we didn't avail ourselves of the beautiful saltwater pool outside. Highly recommend this Inn.

Great service, dining, location and steeped in history. First time in Richmond and owner provided maps, tickets and valuable recommendations for how to prioritize sites, experiences and dining according to our expressed preferences. We were wowed by the city and plan to return to this B&B!

One of the best bed and breakfast I have stayed at. Beautiful house, we had a really nice room. Had to walk down the hallway to the bathroom, but not a big deal, robes are provided. What really makes the property is not only the great location, but the owner. Each morning, all the guests gathered at 9am for breakfast. It was formal, but very well done. Several courses including champaign. It was nice to chat with the other guests. The owner is a trained chef, so the food was great. He went out of his way to ensure we were happy and taken care of. Would highly recommend this property to others. They also have two small dogs that are really cute. Thanks Albert!

we loved our stay at the Grace Manor Inn, the house and neighborhood are beautiful, the breakfast is delicious, the rooms are comfortable and cozy, very well decorated and furnished. Each room has a private bath, there's plenty of privacy and space. There's a pool too! We completely recommend it. Do note that the parking lot is small, best for smaller cars. So if you have a big car, be ready to do some maneuvering to get it in the space.

An outstanding experience in the heart of Richmond. Beuatifully appointed home with spacious and very private accommodations. By far the cleanest place we have ever stayed. This home is a special place and well maintained by the lovely and welcoming innkeepers - Albert & Dawn and their two wonderful Yorkies. The architecture and furnishings are very special and the beautiful in ground salt water pool is a great way to end your day.

I f you're going to stay in Richmond in "hot" July, you're going to want to stay at the beautifully cool and relaxing Grace Manor Inn. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Inn is beautifully furnished and decorated. Albert and Dawn are friendly and helpful with suggestions, recommendations, and just pleasant conversations. The breakfasts are elegant and delicious, with yummy cupcakes from their own shop in nearby Carey Town. We did a good amount of walking which was wonderful, although hot, but the Inn has such a great location and is surrounded by great architecture ( The Fan, Carey Town, and Monument Ave.) We would love to stay at the Inn again and have already been talking about it to our friends. I would recommend staying there if you get the chance as it was a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable experience!

We stayed at Grace Manor while attending a wedding in the Richmond area. This was a wonderful choice, we couldn't have been happier. The innkeeper has got to be one of the most cheerful and friendly people on the planet, we felt welcomed at all times and he took a genuine interest in everyone staying there. The room was great. We stayed in the "suite" over the garage and had plenty of room and lots of comfort. The common rooms in the B&B were gorgeous and inviting. The breakfast left us speechless. The food and drink were fantastic, incredible, terrific, and simply delicious. I would recommend you don't skip the breakfast, it's worth your time. We were fortunate to have some of the owners cupcakes for dessert one breakfast, they are fantastic. If there was a cupcake wars in Richmond, the owners of this B&B would be contenders for the prize. The location was convenient to restaurants, a block off monument drive, ten minutes to Carytown, ten minutes to downtown Richmond and the Confederate museum. You couldn't ask for a better location.

We stayed in the Carriage House. It was very cozy and decorated beautifully. Albert, the owner, was very gracious - he helped bring our bags in and gave us a tour of the main house as well as the Carriage House. We were greeted in the morning by Cocoa and Bear, the owners' cute little Yorkies and breakfast was awesome! Three courses and very fresh ingredients including a cupcake from the owners' cupcakery. They also have put in a salt water swimming pool - and we enjoyed it immensely! This was my first experience at a B&B and it is one I look forward to repeating in the future. :)

My husband and I enjoyed a last minute getaway and were impressed by the Inn and the city of Richmond. Albert and Dawn were the perfect hosts with knowledge of the city, superb culinary skills and a warm, cozy and inviting home. Our room, the Zimmermann suite, named after the original owners, was very luxurious and roomy. The adorable Yorkies and decadent cupcakes were an added bonus.

We stayed at the Grace Manor Inn for our anniversary, and it was a wonderfully relaxing weekend. Albert was an incredibly gracious host, and the breakfast was fabulous--with cupcakes every time! We stayed in the Carriage House, which is a VERY spacious apartment separate from the main house. It's more than enough space for three people--the two of us felt almost guilty having it to ourselves! We used a Living Social coupon for our stay, but we will definitely be back, and will happily pay full price next time!

We started staying at the Grace Manor Inn in September 2006, and every year since then we have stayed two to three weekends per year. Dawn and Albert are the best inn keepers you can ask for. Their knowledge of the city of Richmond and surrounding areas is a great help when you are planning day trips. The breakfast is to die for. Once you stayat the Grace Manor Inn you will be hooked and you will want to come back again and again.

Having booked two nights at the Grace Manor Inn as a surprise for my husband's birthday, I was apprehensive about our accommodations. I should have used Albert's prompt and pleasant responses to my questions when I made the reservation as a barometer of what was to come. From start to finish, everything was spectacular. Our rooms(sitting and sleeping) were spacious, clean and definitely decorated in a way that added to the ambiance. Breakfast each morning was a gastronomical delight. Each course was served with elegance and aplomb. Our host was very attentive to our needs and made sure that our days were planned and that we knew when and where to go. I would highly recommend a stay at Grace Manor for any occasion..

Grace Manor Inn was a wonderful get-a-way for my wife and me. We wanted to just get away - no particular plans. The location was excellent because you are within waling/short drive distance to the historic districts, restaurants, theaters, and shopping. Innkeepers Al and Dawn brought a warmness to the atmosphere of the old inn. Breakfast was fabulous as was the company of the other guests. We would recommend Grace Manor Inn as a place to stay in Richmond.

This was our first experience staying in a B&B and we had a wonderful time. We stayed in the Carriage House, which was warm and cheerful with its bright colors. The main house, built in 1910, was beautifully furnished. The accommodations were quite comfortable. The innkeepers offered excellent hospitality and were very knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast was awesome! The pool looked inviting, but it was way too cold to enjoy it at this time of year. The B&B is in a great central location. You will encounter two adorable Yorkies who love to be scratched behind the ears and under the chin. We will go back!!

After a long and stressful deployment this was exactly what we needed. The entire house was very relaxing. I loved the fact that they not only had a private swimming pool but it was a heated swimming pool. It was so soothing to get into the pool during the evenings and swim under the stars. This was a very romantic and most enjoyable weekend that I haven't forgotten. The couple who own the home are most hospitable and genuinely gracious. We also received an extra discount on the room for letting them know we were military. I am going on another deployment and I know exactly where I am going when I get back. Thank you so much Grace Manor.

My husband and I spent our 21st anniversary at the Grace Manor Inn, Richmond VA, Nov 28-30, 2011, and couldn't have been more pleased! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. We were in awe of the home's beauty and decor. We stayed in the Fensterer Davis Suite which was very spacious and oh so comfortable, especially the wonderful pillow-top mattress and the crisp white sheets! We've stayed in over a dozen B&B's and the Grace Manor Inn, by far, had the best gourmet breakfast...and their cupcakes are to die for! We made sure we bought a dozen of these delectable babies from Carytown Cupcakes to take home! Albert & Dawn couldn't have been more gracious and accommodating. They certainly know how to pamper their guests! We plan to return again next year.

The Pictures do an injustice for this property! The owner/manager is more than pleasant and extremely accommodating! Our room was spacious, the bed was relaxing, the claw foot tub was a welcome experience of old times gone by. Grace Manor Inn was perfectly located for our visit to Richmond. It was so centrally located that we were almost locked in due to the Marathon. However, Albert came to our rescue!!! He provided us with a map showing the marathon route and available egress routes that enabled us to get to our destinations of choice. I fear the consequences of giving a 5 Star rating... I'm afraid that they will earn so much business that I may never be able to get another reservation! Thanks again to Albert, Dawn and the ferocious Yorkie Attack dogs!!!

my favorite movies have always been ones like "life with father", "meet me in st. louis", etc. that are filmed in victorian style houses. now i have had the opportunity to actually stay in one. this b&b is outstanding. the owners take immaculate care of their home. they are so friendly and helpful you feel more like family than like a guest. the food was outstanding and the 2 remaining puppies were fun to visit with. i hope i have the opportunity to return again.

What an amazing B&B. I have nothing but great things to say about our 2 days spent here. The room was comfortable, the decor was amazing, and the food... oh the food!!! My husband and I spent an adventurous eight days at GMI. Because we called too late to reserve the room of our choice for the length of our stay, Albert, innkeeper and perfect host, offered a unique solution - to move us and our belongings into whatever room was not occupied for the night, or even a few nights. Over the course of our stay we slept in three of the four guest suites. This game of musical rooms had an unexpected bonus – it allowed us to be more than guests inhabiting an assigned room and to imagine, instead, that we were staying in the private rooms of a family, each member of which let us use his and her bedroom and private sitting room while they were away visiting cousins in Baltimore or Charlotte or Atlanta. (You can easily engage your fantasies at Grace Manor Inn.) Each room has its own personality and collection of individual belongings, and while we enjoyed the Victorian ambience, the remote controls on each private sitting room table and the unobtrusive refrigerator and coffeemaker let you know that modern conveniences are at hand. Albert and Dawn Schick, owners/innkeepers of Grace Manor Inn have created a marvelous environment – relaxed, fun, and casual despite the Victoriana - and delicious breakfasts that frequently end with a truly incredible cupcake conceived by Dawn, known as the “Hummingbird.” Albert is the perfect host, or innkeeper, as he proudly calls himself, and thanks to the Schicks’ efforts, returning to Grace Manor Inn each evening was as enjoyable for us as each day’s outing in Richmond. Imagination not mandatory, but fun if you can do it. Enjoy.

Both my wife and I enjoyed our overnight stay at Grace Manor. We received a very freindly welcome from Albert when we arrived and found the room comfortable and convenient although the bathroom plumbing was not the best. We were given good and helpful advice regarding our stay, and the things we wished to do while in Richmond. The breakfast was quite spectacular and enjoyable, although we had to leave the surprise final part for lunch! We appreciated how the owners had created a gracious ambience, but we would suggest a simple vase of a few fresh flowers rather than the silk/plastic displays. We thoughly recommend this to others

Albert's knowledge of the history of their home was impressive, as was the beautiful house itself. The landscaping was fabulous, with a pool and a fountain. We enjoyed sitting in the backyard and listening to the waterfall. Our rooms were beautifully decorated and spotless. Gourmet breakfast was delightful and served with panache by Albert. I would definitely recommend the Grace Manor Inn to anyone who would like pampering in a wonderful B&B!

We had a wonderful stay at Grace Manor. The rooms are exquisite and the Inn is beautiful. The breakfasts are a true experience... as good as you would expect in the finest restaurant. The owners/innkeepers are great. They are always ready to make your stay better or to provide local information, but when you want to be alone, you will not even know they are there. You can't go wrong here.

My wife and I stayed at the Fensterer-Davis suite and it was awesome! It has a queen-sized, flame mahogany bedroom set from the early 1900’s, which gives the impression of stepping back in time. The beautiful and spacious sitting room, which connects to the bedroom, has a Victorian sofa, chairs, and a desk. It also showcases a ‘wall of art’ featuring a collection of period-style paintings in gold-gilded frames. Can't wait to visit again!

Grace Manor Inn is a charming site, very comfortable and pampering. The furniture, artwork and fixtures are beautiful, pool area quite relaxing and Albert attends to your every need. Adding a touch of cuteness are the Yorkies, who never bothered us, but loved the attention if we wished. We highly recommend!

Grace Manor is like stepping back in time but without losing any of our modern day requirements. This is one of the most beautiful B&B's we have stayed in (and we have stayed in plenty) and is an experience not to be missed. Grandeur does not even begin to describe Grace Manor and the beauty is that all the downstairs rooms are available for use by guests. That is if you can draw yourself away from your room. We stayed in the Zimmerman suite and experienced sheer indulgence. We also got a chance to peep into some of the other rooms and whichever one you stay in you would not be disappointed. Added to this is the use of the outdoor swimming pool and patio, which on a hot August day is very welcome. Now to the breakfast, well once again this was beyond expectation, I was even offered a bellini, a first for any B&B and of course I thought it would be rude to refuse! Fresh fruit, cooked items and all finished off with homemade cupcakes, well what can I say, delicious! And finally to our hosts. We didn't really see much of Dawn as she was busy baking cupcakes for her shop that she has in Richmond but she was very nice. Albert is charm itself! He could not have been more attentive or welcoming and no detail was overlooked. Do yourself a favour, if you head to Richmond and I suggest you do, head straight to Grace Manor. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Just that. We had a great time. The mansion was just amazing, filled with period furniture and some amazing history, which the inn keepers describe when you enter the house. The location is great, centrally located near Cary Town and downtown. It was quiet and the cupcakes were outstanding. Yes, even a day or two old. Sorry, Albert and Dawn, we were just too excited about the inn to have the cupcakes until we got back home. The strawberry shortcake was my favorite.

The owners have done a wonderful job of restoring and maintaining this 100-year-old mansion. I am especially impressed with the artwork and antiques they have picked up at estate auctions. Albert has an outgoing "tour guide" personality. Dawn has a cupcake shop, so expect cupcakes for the final course at breakfast. They have a beautiful swimming pool, but of course it was not useable in January, so I think $150 per night is a bit high for a winter rate.

When visiting Richmond, Grace Manor is the place to stay. Perfect accommodations for a peaceful, relaxing, comfortable visit. Great location, wonderful restaurants. Owner Albert is very knowledgable on the area and has great recommendations for the best restaurants and things to do in the area. Wife Dawn prepares a breakfast that was delectable. Must visit her new cupcake shop in Carytown for some take home goodies. Guest were treated to one of her gourmet cupcakes after breakfast, a white chocolate/cranberry specialty. The home has character and exquisite parlors. Wish I was there during warm weather to enjoy the beautiful pool and hot tub. Albert and Dawn have it down to perfection to accommodating their guest needs. A wonderful all around experience.

A great way to visit Richmond!

My wife and I and another couple spent a wonderful weekend in Richmond, staying at the Grace Manor Inn. While we were driving down (from DC) the staff called to make sure we were ok and to see if we needed help circumventing traffic. And the experience only got better from there. Being met at the gate after receiving excellent directions, and being served tea in the living room to relax after our trip, before being taken to our rooms to wash up and relax before setting out to explore and go out for dinner. We were well taken care of, and the owners made sure that anything we needed, whether directions to restaurants or breakfast idiosyncracies were handled quickly and thoroughly. The food provided was absolutely wonderful, and the warmth extended mad all of us feel like part of an extended family.

It even has a salt water pool and a great patio for just hanging out. Breakfast was excellent and the host was gracious and accommodating (we arrived 2 hours early). We would definitely sstay here again.

I originally made a date error upon booking this B&B, and did not think I was going to be able to stay there on the dates I was going to be in Virginia. Albert was very helpful and accomodating in helping us clear up the error, so I had a great impression of this Inn two weeks before I even arrived. The positive experience continued when we were several hours later than planned arriving. We kept in touch with Albert via cell phone, and he went so far as to tell us what kind of traffic and driving times to expect driving from Washington DC to Richmond at rush hour. The Inn itself is absolutely beautiful, and Albert and Dawn were great hosts. Three course breakfasts were a delightful treat, and Albert was always eager to offer sight-seeing and dining recommendations. All in all, an outstanding experience.

The Salt water pool was perfect for a private evening swim. The original architecture and period-style furnishings were gorgeous and comfortable. They have ensured that the original integrity of the Victorian property remains while accomodating the requirements of the 21st Century guests. They also answered every questions about the original owners - the Zimmermans - as if they had been their own ancestors. An in-room restaurant guide, complete with menus and take-along directions to each, a result of the innkeepers own dining experiences was very helpful and accurate! Every detail was taken into consideration by the innkeepers. Breakfast was fabulous! We're already looking for an "excuse" to return.

We stayed at the Grace Manor Inn for only one night on a road trip from Florida to Philadelphia. It was a wonderful break from being on the road. The inn is beautiful and hearing the history upon arrival was a treat. Our suite was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The innkeepers were terrific! They were extremely helpful with anything we needed, including a great recommendation for dinner (Edo's squid is a must!). A dip in the pool was the perfect end to our night a the inn. Breakfast in the morning was very relaxing and quite delicious. We will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and we will be back ourselves!

We spent an evening at the Inn and loved it. Dawn and Albert are gracious and accomodating. Breakfast was wonderful and the conversation around the table was fun, especially due to the leisurely pace of the very special multi-course meal. Our only criticism is that our private bathroom was out into the hall, not a problem for us but could cause some to pause. Also, our room was on the third floor with only walk up access. Again, we were fine, some may not be. It's a great place, what a B&B should be, a departure from a standard hotel. Hospitality at its best.

We stayed for two nights on our tour of Virginia July 2010. The house was fantastic and we made good use of the pool in the blistering heat. Dawn & Albert were wonderful hosts and we were made very welcome. The breakfasts were brilliant - no need to eat during the day. Will certainly return if we visit area again. Norma & Stan Lee UK.

My husband and I just wanted to get away for the evening and did not want to drive far. We stayed one night at Grace Manor....wow! What a gorgeous historic home. The innkeepers were great, the food at breakfast was outstanding, along with the conversation. We were lucky in that we were the only guests on that particular night so we had the place to ourselves. Bring a swimsuit if you go in the summer...they have a beautiful pool! The only challenge is that we stayed there during a ridiculous heatwave so it was not quite as cool as we would have liked but I doubt anyone in town could have kept their homes cool in heat indexes exceeding 103! Definitely need to check them out! We will be back, I hope.

We recently spent a July night at Grace Manor Inn as part of a Richmond history hunting expedition. The inn is located in a very handsome part of the city, with good access to major highways and easily found. The innkeeper provides very good off-road parking behind the inn. A very nice salt water swimming pool is in the back yard - though we did not use it. Albert, our host met us for a pre-arranged check-in time and showed us around the Inn as well as an interesting run-through of the history of Grace Manor. Inside Grace Manor is beautifully decorated and faithful to the turn-of-the-century style. This is a B&B that hosts 6 to 7 guests so the shared, or public space within the inn is very generous for reading or a glass of sherry in the evenings. We stayed in the Fensterer-Davis suite which was especially spacious and decorated as well as the public spaces. The Inn was of course scrupulously clean and well kept. A minor complaint was the temperature within the inn, the air conditioning felt a bit taxed, but the day had been in the 90s. In the morning Dawn cooked us a lovely breakfast - served very ably by Albert. Our guest company that day turned out to be a British couple - touring Virginia and the Blue Ridge mountains which provided an interesting morning chat before we left for Williamsburg, our next day's stop.

Stayed here during a very hot spell and was not overall disappointed. In cooler weather I would have rated it higher. That being said because the house was somewhat hot. Passed by the thermostat one evening and it said 81 degrees! They had a couple fans in the room, but as hot as it was, it blew warm air. The bed was very comfy. But, and a big but, their pool saved the day and was very relaxing. Loved the salt water, no burning or any smell. The dogs were cute and added a nice warm feeling, especially if you're a dog lover and they were very well behaved. Innkeepers were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was the most beautiful creation we have ever had at a B&B and we stay at several a year. Will not try to describe it as I will miss some of the ingredients, but for a starter we had champagne mango juice--and the tasty surprises went on and on. A couple other little things that would have put it over the top would be some bottled water or pop for guests and maybe cookies upon arrival--maybe we're getting spoiled but it does add a nice touch and makes a person feel very much at home. Also it was somewhat hard to locate this inn on a busy street as we saw no sign of a B&B anywhere and passed it a couple times. Worth the stay though once you're there!

Just spent a Girls' Getaway weekend at Grace Manor. My childhood friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our respite at this B&B. Great breakfasts, well appointed, clean bed and bath rooms, abundant sitting areas to sip wine and chat and a lovely pool and patio, just the right spot to savor the afternoon or, in our case, the clear sky and cool breezes of our last evening together. The innkeepers and their crew of three, adorable Yorkies attended to our every question and need. It was a great weekend. Highly recommend this B&B

Three childhood friends and I stayed at Grace Manor Inn for a girls weekend and it was fabulous. Dawn and Albert went out of their way to make sure we had a truly memorable time, both at their inn as well as in the city of Richmond. The service and food are beyond description. The suites were well beyond my expectations, and I've stayed at several B&Bs over the years.

I am a twenty year-old college kid who came down to Richmond to do research. I wanted to stay in a place that wasn't a Hampton Inn, to really get a feel for Richmond and have a comfortable place to come home to. I had such a fantastic stay at the Grace Manor Inn! I stayed in the Shortt suite, which was very spacious, with a desk and high-speed internet connection. All of the linens smelled wonderfully. And the food was so delicious! Every morning I felt like a queen. Dawn and Albert were incredibly nice and genuine people. Their restaurant recommendations were very appreciated (and right on). The inn is in a beautiful area of Richmond; I felt very safe even though I was traveling alone. This is the first bed and breakfast that I have stayed in, and Dawn and Albert have set the bar very high. I would recommend--or urge, rather--anyone to stay at the Grace Manor Inn.

I spent a very relaxing birthday weekend at the Grace Manor Inn. The public rooms and guest suites furnished with Victorian antiques are beautiful, but also have modern amenities (refrigerator, coffee pot, TV, terry cloth bathrobe). Summer in Richmond is hot and I particularly enjoyed the pool. The innkeepers are very friendly; Dawn is a gourmet cook and Albert is a fount of helpful information -- ask them to recommend a restaurant; they've checked them all out. And their three Yorkies are very cute.

We stayed at Grace Manor Inn on a horribly hot weekend in Richmond. Although I was concerned about staying cool on the 3rd floor, we found that even though the temperature hit 102, we were comfortable at night with the fans and the A/C. Grace Manor Inn is a beautiful place, and the hospitality and the food could not have been better! I would recommend this wonderful inn to anyone.

After being on the road for ten days, and staying at some wonderful bed and breakfasts down South, we were bowled over by the Grace Manor Inn. This is a truly stunning turn of the 20th century home, impecably decorated with period pieces, homey and welcoming. Albert could not have been more hospitable --- and the breakfast was simply awesome!! (especially the surprise dessert - carrot cupcakes baked by Albert's wife Dawn, who just so happens to own a cupcake bakery in town). How lucky can you get!!!! Outstanding!!

What appeared to be an "ordinary" Victorian House on the outside turned out to be an incredible gem of an Inn. The house is vintage Victorian with every original detail intact. The rooms are large with sitting areas and all amenities. The Innkeepers, Albert and Dawn are extremely friendly and helpful. Dawn made a delicious gormet breakfast with an added treat- homemade carrotcake cupcakes! We highly recommend this wonderful B & B.

We came down for an event and our GPS unit said this was the closest spot next to where the event was held. Luckily there was one room open. What a Great place, its was Clean and Very well kept. Our hosts were polite and met our every need. The house is beautiful and our suite was one of the nicest I have stayed in. I would recommend this to anyone looking for some where to stay in the Richmond Area

I was recently looking at some photos from our wonderful stay at Grace Manor Inn back in May 2009 and I realized that I never took time to write a review. We stayed from May 18, 2009 to May 22, 2009 and all I can say is that I did not want to leave. Albert and Dawn are your dream host and hostess. Each day we were served a different breakfast and each day Dawn surpassed the previous morning's feast. The rooms are beautiful. We felt so at home. The new pool had just opened and we enjoyed sitting by the pool relaxing and reading. We live in California so we may not get back there any time soon, but this is our favorite B&B to date. You will not be sorry if you stay there. We miss you, Dawn and Albert. Thanks for everything! Cathy & Tom

The house is beautiful and Dawn and Albert are outstanding hosts. They go out of their way to accomodate and make your stay as comfortable as possible. From the wine and cheese awaiting your arrival to the outstanding collection of restaurant menus and recommendations in the room, nothing is overlooked. The breakfast is exceptional; freshly prepared gourmet and the perfect start to the day. I can't wait for my next visit!

Our stay at the Grace Manor Inn could not have been any better. We stayed in the Shorrt Suite for two nights. The room was absolutely beautiful, and the sitting room was far larger than expected. The house was immaculate, and Albert and Dawn represent the epitome of class, hospitality, and warmth. Plus, the food alone was worth the price of admission, and the Yorkies only added to our enjoyment. We will not look for a place to stay in Richmond next time; we already know where we'll be. We highly recommend this B&B for anyone staying in Richmond.

Visiting family in Richmond during the big snow before Christmas. The accommodations and the precious darling puppies made us feel we were staying with family - but the food was better!! Dawn and Albert were as gracious as anyone could be, and we will be seeing them again!

To stay at the Grace Manor Inn is to be transported to a time of Southern hospitality in a gracious Richmond mansion with modern convenience and gourmet breakfast - what could be better?

I was in Richmond moderating a panel discussion and lucky to have been put up at Grace Manor. It was my first time at a B&B and I instantly fell in love. I'm not sure if Dawn and Albert knew, but I took many pictures of the interior so I could show my friends and family how beautiful it was! I have never had a better rainy night all to myself. Amazing food I honestly felt like a princess the next morning. I am looking to return some time in the fall with my boyfriend to enjoy the city. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Several of my family members stayed at the Grace Manor Inn for three days for something of a reunion and to meet my daughter's husband's family. We could not have had a better time. Albert and Dawn are wonderful hosts, as are the Yorkies! Pool was fabulous and I don't have enough superlatives to tell you about the breakfasts. Go there now - we will certainly be back.

My wife and I chose this B&B to stay in as we attended a wedding and reception nearby. What a nice gem in this part of the city. Easily accessible, private and with fantastic Innkeepers, Dawn & Albert. Their 3 terriers were adorable (Teddy was my favorite). We took walks in the morning through the historic region located one-block behind the Inn. The pool was absolutely wonderful to relax to with the nice waterfall feature. I'm typically a big breakfast guy but the gourmet breakfasts were plenty and very delicious. We stayed in the Shortt Suite which is the smaller of the rooms but was perfect for my wife and I. Nicely decorated and also includes a separate sink. It is on the third floor and with the afternoon heat it got stuffy but the evenings were very comfortable with the added fans. The bathroom is smaller as well and was the only thing that disapointed my wife. However, it definitely beat staying in a local hotel that would have cost more with less space. Overall, this is such a wonderful inn made especially pleasant by Dawn & Albert welcoming and friendly demeanor....as well as their dogs!

Our stay at the Grace Manor Inn was a Christmas Gift from our daughter and son-in-law. We love to visit B&B places and have been to many. The Grace Manor has placed high on our list. The rooms were beautifully decorated. The music playing softly in our rooms when we arrived, along with wine and cheese, couldn't have been more relaxing. In fact, we put our feet up, sipped the wine and fell asleep for a short nap before venturing out for the evening. The hospitality and breakfast the next morning were superb.

We had the most fabulous stay at the Grace Manor Inn for our 5th anniversary. We have gone away every year for our anniversary and this year we decided to have an in town getaway. The Grace Manor Inn was the perfect way to celebrate. The new salt water pool was so relaxing, the room was fantastic and the hospitality was beyond compare. To top off the stay the gourmet breakfast Dawn prepared was unlike any other. It left us wishing we could stop by for breakfast every weekend. Our expectations were exceeded around every corner. Dawn and Albert truly have a gift! We will definitely be returning and have already recommended them to our friends and family!

What an experience! New to B & B experiences, but the Grace Manor Inn was perfect. Relaxing evening, resourceful in terms of navigating Richmond, delicious wine and cheese, divine breakfast with lively conversation, beautiful home, friendly innkeepers. WOW! Will have to go swimming next time...

My wife and my stay at the Grace Manor Inn was thoroughly enjoyable. Albert and Dawn were extra ordinarily thoughtful and considerate of their guest. My wife was delighted at the beauty of the inn’s ornate fixtures and furniture. The oversized bed with luxurious linens, bath with claw feet tub and a circular tub shower added a feel of opulence to our visit. The spaciousness and well furnished shared areas provide ample area to relax and enjoy the moment. The balcony and porch overlooking the back yard and pool area provided additional areas to sit and have conversations. The breakfasts were a highlight of our memories of the Grace Manor. The meals were colorful, served with a sense of flair by Albert and tasted GREAT. Dawn’s meals equal gourmet restaurant quality. If you are going to stay in a Bed and Breakfast in Richmond, you should not miss the opportunity to stay at the Grace Manor Inn.

Albert & Dawn went all out in their efforts to pamper my family and I the entire weekend we were here. The gourmet breakfast was to die for, and the presentation was fantastic. I have enjoyed many B and Bs in my 70 years, but none better than the show these Innkeepers put on. It is authentic and most pleasurable without being ostentatious. Very well done. Most highly recommended. The breakfast part was especially memorable.

A birthday getaway transported to a lusciously kept Victorian Inn complete with fireplace, exquisite dining (tailored to my needs including hot chocolate and soy milk), friendly and informative host and hostess, scallpoed latticed ceiling ornaments and off street parking. AND I am even typing this from their free computer so I can keep connected with bthe real world during our stay. A must!

The Grace Manor Inn is unquestionably the finest B&B that we have ever stayed in. The architecture, appointments and attention to detail are outstanding. The hosts are beyond gracious and the "three little pups" are absolutely adorable. We were pampered beyond our wildest expectations! The bed was heavenly, and the breakfasts were a gourmet's delight! We just could not have been any more pleased with our visit, and will look for every possible opportunity to stay there again! Deborah and JP Brehony

Last night my husband and I stayed at the Grace Manor Inn in Richmond, VA. We were celebrating our 42nd wedding anniversary. The stay there was absolutely wonderful. The Inn is an early 1900's house in the fan district in Richmond. The house and its furnishings are beautiful. We had a large bedroom and a sitting room. Much of the furniture is original, the chandeliers, the fireplaces, etc. The hospitality was great even from the three Yorkees who share a part of the house. The restaurant they recommended for dinner was equally good. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. We would highly recommend the Grace Manor Inn to anyone visiting Richmond, VA.
4.6 on January 04, 2009
This was likely the nicest B&B we have ever visited. The innkeepers were gracious and helpful, the breakfasts were delicious, and the accommodations ample. The home itself is lovely and well-decorated. The attention to detail was obvious from the moment we arrived, and we appreciated the attention the innkeepers paid to our interests and small requests. If you are an older traveler, there are a couple of things to keep in mind when booking: some of the suites are up two flights of stairs, and some of the suites have private restrooms adjacent to them (so you have to step into the hall outside your suite to use the facilities). Also, some of the suites have walk-in showers, while others have clawfoot tubs (which can be a challenge for some). We had a wonderful time, and we greatly appreciated the innkeepers' hospitality and activity suggestions. Our only suggestion would be to provide a large sofa in all of the suites, to ensure guests can truly stretch out and relax at the end of a busy day. We will likely return in the future, and would recommend this B&B to others without hesitation.

We recommend the Grace Manor Inn to anyone who is visiting Richmond and wants a special experience combined with a little history. The suites are beautifully done and comfortably large, breakfast is outstanding, and the hosts are very helpful and friendly. The location in Richmond's Fan district serves as a perfect home base. Our friends who recommended this Inn to us have stayed here three times in the past two years. They are equally impressed. We honestly can't think of any suggestions for improvement--great as is. And we look forward to using the backyard pool that is about to be installed. We'll definitely stay here the next time our travels take us to Richmond. We enjoyed two enormous and beautiful rooms plus. The carriage house apartment was very modern and tastefully decorated. More than enough room for the two of us and very private. My Mom stayed in the two room suite. She was blown away by the decor. We have stayed in many bed and breakfasts. This was the best breakfast we had. They could not have been more considerate. We will definitely return.

The grounds are delightful and inviting. The house is a Grand representation of Richmond circa 1905. It is so very elegant and welcoming. We enjoyed every moment visiting the Inn and look forward to returning next year.

We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay, as a couple, in Grace Manor, a beautifully furnished 3-story home in the Fan district. Our 3rd-story suite was a spotless, restful retreat. We loved everything about the Grace Manor Inn. It is located in historic Richmond, close to VCU where my son attends. The grounds are immaculate, the 1910 house has been impeccably restored to reflect that era, and it is gorgeous. We stayed over the old carriage house in a one bedroom apartment which is spacious and decorated in bright colors, modern furniture ... what I would call 21st century art deco with some historic touches. FUN! Dawn and Albert are the consummate hosts, and Dawn is an amazing chef whose breakfasts were always a delightful culinary adventure. We recommend the Grace Manor Inn as highly as is humanly possible. Go. Enjoy Richmond. Be pampered!

What a beautiful, historic bed & breakfast in the Fan district in Richmond. It is meticulously appointed with many of the original fixtures. Although it rained while we were there, the backyard and outdoor patios make for wonderful extended space. Dawn and Albert are gracious hosts, along with their three "boys", Bear, Cocoa and Teddy - 3 lively Yorkies. The best part of the stay, however, is Dawn's delicious gourmet breakfast. I give it five stars! I would definitely stay again.

If only our home could be this nice !! I had stayed in the Carriage House for quite a while during business trips to Richmond and could not wait to take my wife on a weekend getaway to Dawn and Albert's beautiful home. Even though I was used to their hospitality and professionalism as innkeepers I was again blown away by the breakfasts and attention to detail. As usual all their recommendations for restaurants and places to visit were right on! A place to return to and recommend to anyone who wants that extra special feel of being "pampered". I wish we could do this more often.

I stayed at the Grace Manor Inn for one night while on business. They had an affordable corporate rate, which made it possible to have a "home-away-from-home" type stay instead of the usual cookie cutter hotel stay. The inn-keepers are warm, friendly people and the Inn is architecturally very interesting. Dawn's breakfast was a delcious treat! Give it a try!

Although we live less than two hours away, we had never been to Richmond and didn't know what to expect. We spent two nights at the Grace Manor Inn and couldn't have been more pleased. We stayed in the Fensterer-Davis Suite. We have been to a lot of B&Bs but this place is special. The two-room suite was spacious (good value for the money) and very nicely decorated. It also had an in-room fridge and microwave. The suite included private access to the front balcony overlooking a residential street in the historic neighborhood and shared access to the back balcony overlooking the garden. The only downside was that the private bath was not connected to the suite -- it was a few steps down the hall. The downstairs rooms were incredible -- restored with some very nice touches -- and the gourmet breakfast was great. Albert and Dawn made us feel very welcome. The inn is right in the middle of the Monument Avenue district with its wonderful early 20th century homes and within walking distance of several nice restaurants. We also loved Richmond. There is lots to see --history, architecture, parks -- and we got the feeling that you can enjoy the benefits of city living there without having to endure the crush of people and cars typical of urban areas. We'll definitely return, both to Richmond and to the Grace Manor. Bill & Mary

We spent a weekend at Grace Manor in August - it truly has a manor feel, with all the associated luxuries. The rooms were wonderfully finished, the bed was so comfortable, and the decor seemed plucked from a bygone age. Dawn and Albert (and the dogs!) made us very welcome, and treated us to sumptious breakfasts both mornings of our stay. The finishing touches, both inside and outside, make this house very special. Parking appears secure behind the house, although is somewhat limited. We would recommend this house for anyone seeking a relaxing, hustle-free break in Richmond.

Recently stayed at the Grace Manor Inn and could not have been more pleased. The location of this beautiful house was perfectly situated. Make sure you go to Eddo's for dinner.

A perfectly appointed mansion in the elegant style of that era in Richmond. The accomodations were luxurious, comfortable and cozy. The inn keepers were delightfully charming and just appeared whenever there was a need. After a very long trip, wine, cheese, coffee or tea and candy provided in our plush sitting room was just what we needed to unwind. We mulled over a very complete book of varied dining places with menus and precise directions but the personal evaluations by Albert were most helpful. Breakfast was a culinary delight to start our day. We certainly would return and stay longer to explore the area.

I've stayed in B&B's all over the US and several in Canada. Grace Manor Inn in Richmond is right up there with the very best. The owners strive to meet your every need and wish. The inn itself is charming, elegant and comfortable. The breakfasts are delicious! I hope to return many times.

My husband and I rarely get to get away for long, so when we do, we want the best of the best. Our two-night stay at the Grace Manor Inn recently exceeded all of our expectations. Hospitality comes naturally to innkeepers Dawn and Albert Schik. We were greeted each morning with a special, scrumptious breakfast whipped up by the talented Dawn as Albert shared funny stories of his experiences as an inkeeper. The couple was friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. They recommended some terrific restaurants in the area and both of our dinners were fantastic. They even arranged a wine tour of some nearby Charlottesville vineyards for us, complete with driver to take us from place to place. The rooms were clean, neat and well-appointed, as was the entire home. We'd highly recommend the Grace Manor Inn to anyone looking to get away, even if only for a day or two, from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The Grace Manor Inn is one of the most beautiful B&B's I've seen. The home and decor are breath-taking, and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. It's a perfect place to get away and relax. The breakfasts were delicious & the homemade cookies were out of this world! Immediately, Albert & Dawn made us feel right at home. The extremely relaxed and charming atmosphere combined with Albert's & Dawn's easy going, yet professional demeanors made our stay wonderful. Anyone traveling through the area MUST stop and stay at the Grace Manor Inn.

I can't say enough about the wonderful stay we had at Grace Manor Inn this weekend. The Inn was exquisite, historic, Victorian, decorated superbly! The food was AMAZING! Dawn is a very talented gourmet cook. And when Albert served you he made you feel like royalty. They pampered you from the time you entered, not only in decor, service, and food, but also in attention to the littlest detail, like the pillow top mattresses that we slept on, to the sprig of fresh rosemary in the bathroom. Their three little Yorkshire Terrier's were adorable too! I highly recommend The Grace Inn to anyone staying in the Richmond area.

We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary at Grace Manor Inn. What a fantastic and beautiful B&B. The food was out of this world and Dawn and Albert were superb hosts. They also arranged a tour for us with Ray Baird. He too was a FANTASTIC tour guide and VERY knowledgable. We now know that when we come to Richmond, we have a home away from home. Thanks again! Albert and Dawn pampered us and we totally enjoyed their thoughtful touches to make us feel special. The inn is beautiful and very cozy. The gourmet breakfast and service was by far the best dining experience we have ever had! Bear, Cocoa, and Teddy delighted us! Our highest praise to all of them!

Food that was the quality of the finest, fine dining establishment, and service worthy of royalty. What an amazing gem, we are so glad that we found this place. Albert is a wonderful host, and Dawn is an absolutely amazing chef. Stay at Grace Manor Inn and you will not be dissapointed! The house is absolutely wonderful...it just feels like home should feel. We had Albert and Dawn cook the Romantic Dinner for us, and was that a treat! The spaces are beautiful, the food always a culinary delight and the hospitality warm and welcoming -- even the background music is well chosen to create the perfect ambience. Definitely an experience to be repeated.

We all stay at B&Bs for the home feeling at Grace Manor you get thta feeling and more. The rooms and service are spectacular but add gourmet breakfast and I am too spoiled for any other B&B in the area. Any my 3 four legged friends brighten the stay!

I stayed at Grace Manor Inn in late May and going to stay again in July. I loved it very much. The breakfast was fantastic and the attention to details the hosts made was very impressive. The room I stayed was very comfortable and nice and the neighborhood the inn is located is awesome. I really loved it very much.

When we think of Richmond VA, we will now associate The Grace Manor Inn with this historical capital city. We do not know where to begin, Dawn and Albert, (innkeepers) truly do pamper you as advertised. We have stayed at many Bed and Breakfasts in our years together, and The Grace Manor Inn takes top honor! Our Zimmerman suite was charming and warm. The historical value of this bed and breakfast is second to none. We are still reminiscing about the breakfast Dawn served each morning. When we plan another Richmond vacation, we will be including The Grace Manor Inn!

No more staying at chain hotels when we travel to Richmond Virginia. What a pleasant surprise the Grace Manor Inn is. Every aspect of our stay was wonderful! From the price of the suite, to the Short Suite itself, the wonderful prepared breakfast every morning, to the innkeepers, and the cute little Yorkies. I highly recommend staying at the Grace Manor Inn if you want to be in Bed & Breakfast Heaven :)

My husband and I stayed at Grace Manor Inn and loved it. The Inn is stunning--the hardest decision we had to make was which beautiful parlor or terrace we wanted to sit in to sip our morning coffee or relax after dinner. Our suite was exquisite--immaculately clean and beautifully furnished. Albert and Dawn were warm and welcoming. Grace Manor Inn made us feel a short weekend getaway was a real vacation!

It was a pleasant and relaxing stay in this historical home in the Fan District of Richmond. The food was outstanding and the owner's very friendly and accomodating.

This is run by two very professional Inn Keepers/Owners and it shows. They are very attentive and go out of their way to see that you have a pleasant stay. They are computer literate too, and you can see this with their Restaurant Suggestions book for each room and an active computer on the second floor and hard wire connections in each room. One thing I would suggest is that you use the front door upon your arrival.... it is much more impressive. Once you're checked in, you'll park in the back and use the rear entry which brings you through a cute garden area... but the front entry is the way to go for the full visual impact the mansion can offer. The mansion itself is very classic but you don't get that impression when you enter for the fist time via the rear entry. I can't say more about it's owners - you will enjoy your stay. Rob and Nereida.

WE love to travel and our favorite places to stay are B&B's. Grace Manor ranks up there as one of the very best. Great host and hostess.
5 on May 28, 2008
I HIGHLY recommend the Grace Manor Inn. We visited Richmond to investigate moving there from San Francisco, and the GM Inn gave us a "homey" perspective of the city in a wonderful neighborhood. The grounds (a lovely, private, fenced-in backyard area) were immaculate and cozy. We stayed in the modern "carriage house" (separate from the main house, and has a VERY different feel), which was comfortable, clean, and we really enjoyed the privacy it gave us. The 3-course breakfast is unbelievable!! I was thinking about it all day -- gourmet quality, but light enough that you don't need a nap afterward. Albert and Dawn are young and friendly but leave you to your privacy -- not to mention extremely helpful with "the Fan" neighborhood. For dog lovers, the yorkies are adorable and lovable -- and for non dog-lovers, kept appropriately out of the way if you're not interested. I would absolutely stay there again in my next trip to Richmond.

My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary by staying at the Grace Manor Inn, and we were very impressed by Albert and Dawn's hospitality. The breakfast was delectable, and it was a real treat to stay in the Zimmerman Suite! This was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast, and we'll definitely be back! Thanks, Albert and Dawn!

A beautiful place, comfortable, tasteful, not overdone and don't skip the breakfast.
5 on May 26, 2008
Lovely home with rich detail. Albert, our host, was extremely helpful with restaurant picks in the area and about the Fan in general. Our hostess and chef, Dawn (a true chef) was also a delight. We plan to return for another special occasion.

My wife and I stayed at the Grace Manor Inn (Va) for three nights during May and occupied the Zimmermann suite. The bedroom was spacious, decorated and furnished in the Victorian style, well appointed and clean with a private lounge ensuite containing settee, TV, fridge and microwave. The separate bathroom nearby was clean, light and airy. The rest of the house was charming with many original Victorian features. The hosts - Albert and Dawn, were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. You can't go wrong with this choice - highly recommended.

Staying at the Grace Manor Inn is always one of our highlights when visiting Richmond. Locate just off of I-95 in the Historical Fan District of Richmond, this Bed & Breakfast has the feel of a home away from home. The rates are very fair and the innkeepers, Dawn and Albert are always welcoming. The three-course breakfast is something to look forward to each and everyday of your stay. Dawn always goes beyond the norm when preparing and cooking breakfast. Albert’s host skills, and historical knowledge of the inn and the surrounding area is second to none. And lets not forget the boys, Teddy, Coco, and Bear. Add all of these factors together and the Grace Manor Inn receives an A+

Everything about our three night stay was delightful. The Inn is a beautiful turn of the century home with original molding, lighting fixtures and comfortable at the same time. Dawn is an amazing chef and breakfast became a highlight of each day. Albert and Dawn are welcoming, provide terrific directions, great restaurants tips, helped my husband get fresh flowers into the room to surprise me and even provided internet access to print our boarding passes for the flight home. This B&B is top of the list.

We just spent 3 nights at the GMI. It is located in the heart of the Fan, a wonderful neighborhood in the middle of Richmond. The building is magnificent and the rooms were as nice as the building. Beautiful Victorian furnishings in a historic house. The inkeepers, Albert and Dawn were terrific down to every detail. The breakfasts were unbelievable: completely different gourmet meals with fresh ingredients beautifully prepared and served. We have no complaints, would stay there again in a heartbeat and would recommend it very highly to our friends.

What a pleasant surprise! One moment my wife and I are grinding down Rt 95 on our way home to NY, and minutes later we are standing in a gorgeous 100 yr old home listening to our charming host Albert destribe to us it's fascinating history! We were given a tour through beautiful well appointed spacious rooms, past a kitchen that could only be equiped for a professional chef! Of course the next morning our palettes proved this to be true as we had a glorious breakfast prepared by Alberts spouse Dawn. Continuing our tour Albert led us upstairs to our Suite. Yes Suite! Two very large rooms seperated by a sink and mirror of which some distant relative waxed his handle bar mustache 70 yrs ago. Before Albert left us he reccommened a wonderful Italian Restaurant which we enjoyed very much. Richmond is an interesting and charming city, and we shall return to explore it further, as perhaps you as well as us,have overlooked its potential. After dinner we returned to our room with it's very comfy large bed and watched a little TV which is discretely tucked on a shelf high on the wall and comfortable to watch. I also checked out the books in the Inn which were varied and plentiful. We had a very restful sleep and looked forward to what we knew (based on the meticulious details of the house we had already experienced) a beautiful breakfast.Eight am sharpe we were greeted by Albert and his lovely and talented chef wife Dawn in their turn of the century decorated dining room. The special blended coffee they served along with their three course well presented delicious breadfast puts a major capital on the Breakfast part of "Bed and Breakfast" I suggest you request the "The snack 'n good corn bread" (Dawn I should have asked for another portion) In conclusion the hosts are a young talented nice couple who aim to please! This Bed and Breakfast is all it should be and more. My wife and I highly reccomend it and we will be back!

Albert and Dawn are wonderful hosts. The travel directions were easy to follow and accurate. Albert and Dawn made us feel at home and special. Albert was helpful, answering all of our questions and suggesting places to visit and see. The recommendations of where to eat were incredible. The suites are clean, comfortable and each is unique in spirit. Be sure to save room for breakfast. We had a wonderful time.

If you are looking for a first class place to stay while you visit Richmond, look no further than the Grace Manor Inn. From the welcome bottle of wine to the attention to making each guest feel special, Albert and Dawn are dedicated to making your stay memorable. The breakfast truly qualifies as gourmet and the rooms are tastefully decorated and very clean. A notebook not only lists many restaurants nearby but even provides the directions. They really do try to think of everything to make your visit special and in my opinion they succeed.

This inn boldly promises to "Let us Pamper You", and we were not let down. The Grace Manor is a spacious, circa 1910 house located in the heart of Richmond's Fan district, just a block from Monument Avenue, and within easy commuting distance to downtown, the museums, and local battlefield parks. My wife and I stayed 3 nights in the Fensterer-Davis suite, consisting of a large bedroom and an adjoining, equally large and very comfortable sitting room. Our private bath/shower was just down the hall. The public areas on the first floor are a wonder, beautifully apponted in late Victorian style. The innkeepers, Dawn and Albert, are professional chefs; their breakfasts are always different. of 5-star hotel quality, and presented with flair. We liked this wonderful place and would recommend it without any qualification to our friends and family.

My wife and I stayed two nights in April '08 at the Grace Manor Inn. Instead of the casual and relaxing time we planned, we found ourselves trying to do some business in a foreign country. Dawn and Albert Schick provided the phone, the computer, the banking advice so that we could accompish our business. They were superb with the more common things one hopes to find at a fine B&B. Things like gourmet breakfasts, welcome wine and cheese, and great rooms. What we remember most is the friendly and gracious attitude of the hosts. Finally, anyone who has left a dog at home can enjoy three great Yorkies. We really could not think of anything more that one could wish for in a B&B. Visit this B&B. This is a wonderful B and B near many great restaurants, museums, and other visitor attractions. Delicious breakfast and sweet "Yorkies". The Innkeepers are right there to help you plan your day in the Richmond area,

Mu husband and I spent 2 nights at Grace Manor in March and had a wonderful time. The Inn itself was a treat because of the history and the ambience, but Albert and Dawn made it even more special by their hospitality and delicious food. We will certainly put it on our list of places we will return to.
5 on April 08, 2008
Wonderful innkeepers who hit a perfect balance between friendliness and respect for visitors' privacy. Gorgeous house, delicious gourmet fare AND best of all (for us at least) three energetic and friendly little Yorkies to give us many doggie kisses! (For those who aren't quite as enthusiastic dog lovers, the pups are kept out of the way of guests...) A lovely stay, highly highly recommended. Wish I could post pics, it's a beautiful place. Try the Carriage House for a more private getaway, we really liked it.
4.6 on April 08, 2008
My mom, sister's mother-in-law, and I stayed the night at the Grace Manor, specifically in carriage house. It was by far the best weekend in a B&B I have experienced, yet! I've traveled through many B&B's and have never been so comfortable as I was in the Grace Manor. The three course breakfasts with mimosa's and Italian coffee were extravagant. Their special egg's benedict with chive infused hollandaise sauce was by far the most amazing surprise I have experienced
5 on April 06, 2008
I love this B&B... so much so I hate to even tell everyone about it. But I will. If you are looking for a relaxing get away this is the place. It is quiet, relaxing and in the heart of Richmond, so there is a lot to do. Your Innkeepers go overboard to make it better than home. You will hate to leave. I always do.
5 on April 06, 2008
My wife and I spent two nights at the Grace Manor, at the beginning of last week. We stayed in the Schott Suite, which is a delightful space to spread out and relax. Dawn and Albert's hospitality reflects that at the time when the manor was in its heyday: they are the hosts, you are their guests and their home is yours to enjoy and to relax in. All in all, a beautiful place to unwind and step back in time.
5 on April 01, 2008
I was in Richmond to attend my daughter-in-law's baby shower. It was a very busy weekend in Richmond because of the French Film Festival, yet Dawn and Albert, despite being completely booked, greeted us and attended to our needs as if we were their only guests. We stayed in the newly renovated Carriage House, behind the main house in which the decor is Victorian, as one can see from their pictures. The Carriage House is modern, with brightly painted walls and a contemporary feel. We were so impressed with the breakfasts that we asked if my son and daughter-in-law could join us on the last morning of our stay, and Dawn and Albert graciously accommodated them. I am a vegetarian and Dawn accommodated my diet seamlessly--I did not feel as if I was having a "lesser" or "special needs" meal. In fact, I don't think the other guests realized that my meal was any different from theirs. I am trying to stay within the guidelines set for us as reviewers, but I must say, if any B&B deserves hyperbole, this one does.
5 on March 27, 2008
My wife and I were blown away by the hospitality of Innkeepers Albert and Dawn Schick! We were greeted with a phone call to confirm our arrival time and were met at the gate for an initial tour of the b&b. A bottle of wine and a cheese plate awaited us in our room...this was perfect as it was a long drive for us. Dawn gave us some great tips for late afternoon touring and upon our return we were greeted with the most amazing fresh baked cupcakes. The inn is in a wonderful area, the restuarant options/guide created by Dawn and Albert were superb! Dawn is an amazing cook, her breakfast will be something that I will try to recreate. One of the best B&B experiences we have ever had! Kevin & Michelle

We were impressed with everything at the Grace Manor Inn! The house itself is amazing and well cared for: beautiful garden area, formal common areas that are comfortable and welcoming, immaculate and well-designed suites, second-floor porch (and porch swing!). The inn-keepers, Albert and Dawn, are ideal hosts. Dawn's gourmet 3-course breakfasts were stunning & delicious. Albert graciously introduced us to the house and provided us with maps and guides to Richmond, as well as a meticulously prepared list of recommended restaurants (that included menus and directions). My husband and I are thinking about moving to Richmond, and Dawn and Albert not only took time to talk with us about the city, but they also put us in touch with a great realtor! All in all, our stay was a fun and relaxing experience, and we'll definitely return.
5 on March 17, 2008
My husband and I have stayed at a number of bed and breakfasts throughout the country and they've all been wonderful but this one by far exceeds them all. Dawn and Albert were extremely hospitable and we felt like our every need was anticipated in advance down to the smallest detail. The breakfasts were elegant and delicious and the house itself was pristine and beautiful and full of history. Their three adorable little Yorkies were simply an added bonus to bring a smile to our faces. We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. I can't imagine you would have anything but a wonderful, relaxing, enjoyable time here.
5 on February 23, 2008
From the moment Albert met us at the door on Friday evening until the moment that Dawn and the Yorkies saw us off on Saturday morning, everything about our stay was first rate. The house is simply gorgeous, and beautifully maintained. The sitting rooms are inviting and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, and Dawn and Albert (and the Yorkies, of course) were a delight. We look forward to visiting again when it's warm enough to sit out on that lovely deck overlooking the garden!
5 on February 18, 2008
Dawn and Albert run a beautifully furnished and immaculate inn. We felt very papmpered and the breakfast was truly as amazing as others have described. The place was gorgeous with numerous rooms to enjoy oneself. They left no detail behind, and our only regret was not being able to stay longer to enjoy every aspect of the inn.
5 on February 18, 2008
Our Children gave us a weekend at the Inn including a surprise 50th wedding celebration there. It was unbelieveable. Everyone enjoyed the location, food and hospitality. It was perfect.... Dawn and Albert really know how to treat their guests and keep a secret.

And the three yorkies are incredibly cute as well. We have stayed at Grace Manor twice, and just love it. It is an amazing house in a great location, a place that just makes you feel good to sit around the huge living rooms and absorb the atmosphere. Dawn and Albert are wonderful hosts, and Dawn makes probably the very best B&B breakfasts we have ever had. They are also very savvy on the Richmond restaurant scene and can point you to some great places. The rooms are beyond spacious, just lovely. We will definitely be back!

My daughter and I have made it an annual event to meet in Richmond for the Holiday Homes Tour. My sister and niece joined us this year. Albert and Dawn were wonderful hosts. They welcomed us and made us feel like we were at our home away from home. We loved their listing of their favorite restaurants. Both we chose turned out to be fabulous! Dawn's breakfasts are exceptional and the presentation is impressive. The Inn is beautiful and spotless. We can't wait to return. We have stayed in other B&B's and this is on the top of our list. We would highly recommend it!

We spent two nights in the Zimmermann suite. This is actually three rooms, a bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. It was extremely comfortable with plenty of space. The breakfasts were delightful - great food beautifully presented. The hosts were both pleasant and extremely helpful. We would recommend this accommodation to everyone.

We stayed three nights in the Shortt Suite. The bed was great and the suite was more than expected. We had an excellent dinner the first night at the Jefferson Hotel(a "5 star" restaurant). Dawn's breakfasts were "6 star" each morning. Albert made you feel as though you were coming home for the holidays. The Inn is beautiful and it is obvious Dawn and Albert are the perfect caretakers for this historic home.

I would recommend this to anyone!

Our party occupied the two suites on the third floor and thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful ambiance. The inkeepers demonstrate superb attention to detail - we were particularly impressed with the book of restaurant recommendations that included their favorites (starred), menus, distance from the inn and complete directions. We've stayed at a lot of B&Bs and have never seen this service before. Our breakfast was elegant and delicious. We consider the Grace Manor Inn to be a great find and will be happy to recommend it to friends.

Grace Manor Inn is at the top of my list when it comes to the best B&B's that I've been to. So many little touches made for a very wonderful and comforting experience. The Shortt suite had beautiful music playing upon our arrival (there is a TV and stereo with some nice CD's in the suite) and the cheeseplate and lemonade from France was a fabulous treat as we listened to the comforting music. The breakfasts were amazing - we felt so pampered (loved the loose leaf tea selection!). There were just so many delightful touches.

We returned from dinner on our first night at the Grace Manor to sit on the porch drinking the wine and eating the cheese (both delicious) that our hosts had kindly provided for us. This is just one example of the attention to detail and thoughtfulness that went into making our stay so enjoyable in this beautiful home, full of original features. The gourmet breakfasts were a special treat - and gave us extra energy for our explorations of the fascinating city of Richmond!

The Grace Manor Inn is a charming bed and breakfast that is clean, neat, and beautiful, with innkeepers who are friendly and more than accomodating. The suites are comfortable and homey. Complimentary cheese and wine awaits your arrival. The homemade breakfasts are gourmet perfection. We also enjoy the resident Yorkies who socialize with their house guests from time to time. All of these things keep us coming back to the Grace Manor Inn for a weekend stay when we're in town. I highly recommend it!

Thank you Albert and Dawn, we can't wait for our next visit!

We and our friends stayed at Grace Manor the day after the Virginia State House reopened after renovation and the day before Queen Elizabeth's historic visit there. We got to see the newly restored State House before the crowds arrived for the Queen and we had time to visit several other fascinating places in and around the city. In addition to the Inn's comfort, ambience and fabulous breakfasts, the Schicks gave us wonderful help and guidance that made our visit memorable.

We spent a long weekend in Richmond, VA at the Grace Manor Inn. There are only 3 rooms (suites actually), and the private bath is not en suite (but robes are provided.) The facilities were spacious and very clean and comfortable. The hosts were most helpful in identifying events and destination of interest to us. The breakfasts were outstanding: original, delicious, and displaying considerable thought. Our special dietary needs were managed with elegance. All in all, we recommend Richmond as a weekend (or longer) destination, and believe that the Grace Manor Inn's hospitality, location, and ambiance will add to your enjoyment.

Grace Manor is where I stay whenever I am in Richmond overnight. They are always very hospitable with wine and cheese, and bottled and mineral water in your room on arriaval, plus coffee, port wine and home-made cookies on hand at all times. Help with bags up the stairs is greatly appreciated. The cozy beds, sitting rooms, gormet breakfasts, decor, Yorkies, directions to local restaurants, relaxed atmosphere, and more keep me coming back!
