Inn Details

Luxury, Romance and History await guests at Mayhurst Inn. The Manor House is a magnificent Italianate Victorian gem; remarkable for its exuberant architecture and oval-spiral staircase ascending four floors. Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and is a Virginia Historic Landmark.

Tour all four floors of the 9200 sq ft mansion complete with a climb to the rooftop tower where General "Stonewall" Jackson observed his troops. Wander the 37 acres of landscaped gardens, lawn, old growth forest and fields where Confederate troops spent the winter of 1863-64. General A.P. Hill commanded over 18,000 troops from a tent on the front lawn. General Robert E. Lee and "Stonewall" Jackson were also guests.

Outstandingly restored with the best of the antebellum era and 21st century comforts: eight stately guest rooms with private baths, double whirlpool tubs, original Italian marble fireplaces, luxury linens, antiques, and period decor. Snacks, soft drinks, wine and cheese are offered each evening - 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Three course plantation style breakfasts are served on the large patio or in the dining room next to the fireplace.

The perfect place for a romantic getaway, a quiet weekend away from the "daily grind", or to just enjoy the best of Southern Hospitality amid the history and luxury of Mayhurst.

The Mayhurst Dining Room. Seats 32. Frequently used for Luncheons, Rehearsal Dinners, Small Receptions and, of course, breakfast. A warm comfortable room with a beautiful fireplace with a carved wood mantel.Mayhursts main entrance Parlor (There are Three Parlors). A great gathering spot. Also used for small wedding ceremonies (seats 40). General A.P. Hill's daughter, Lucy Lee was christened here in May, 1863. Her Godfater, who held her during the ceremony, was Robert E. Lee.
The "Southern Charm" room. Very large bedroom, king bed, wood burning fireplace and a two person Jacuzzi. Formally the Mayhurst Guest Room. General "Stonewall" Jackson stayed here.
One of the many brides who choose Mayhurst for her wedding destination. Mayhurst has hosted weddings and receptions for 6 to 300 guests.Mayhurst Verandah. Seats 30+. A favorite spot for evening wine and cheese, luncheons, breakfast, or just for talking, reading and relaxation.

Hot air balloon launch from Mayhurst. A favorite part of our Adventure Vacation Package. The unique spirial staircase ascends all four stories at Mayhurst and is an example of the Italianite infludence on the victorian architecture.
