Buckley Hall was a lovely surprise! Comfortable, welcoming, and relaxing are a few ways to describe our two night stay. Beth was a great hostess friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious and the conversations with other guests most enjoyable. The house is beautiful and conveniently located. We enjoyed a walk at the beach, bird watching, antiquing, and some great restaurants recommended by Beth. We had a wonderful visit and highly recommended the Inn! Carol from Manlius, NY

We could not have been more fortunate or happy with our choice of the Buckley Hall Inn for a stay of 5 days in Virginia. We were warmly greeted, shown to a beautifully furnished and impeccably clean room and bath. Breakfasts were exceptional -- fresh, hot, delicious and varied. We received excellent recommendations for local points and places to dine. We highly recommend it, and hope to return someday ourselves. Suzanne and Jerry

My husband and I stayed at Buckley Hall Inn in November 2011 as we were visiting Mathews for my 50th high school reunion. It also was our anniversay and staying at the inn was a special treat. The Inn is decorated beautifully and has such a cozy atmosphere. We stayed in the Mojack Room, which we loved. Two wing chairs in the room for relaxing and reading. The bed was most comfortable and we slept very soundly. Bathroom was in the room and accommodated us just fine. The Innkeeper does a wonderful job of thinking of your every need. Fresh cookies and coffee on arrival was a pleasant surprise! A full breakfast was served and delicious. There was a freshly baked apple cake that we loved. I always love returning to Mathews where I grew up, and our stay at Buckley Hall Inn made it a special occasion. We will certainly stay at the inn again!

First trip to Mathews, and first time at a B&B. Beth and Gerald are so kind and down-to-earth. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. The house is lovely and the location is convenient. Everything was very nice and well taken care of. Beth is a wonderful cook, and she provided delicious homemade treats each day (as well as providing coffee, tea, water and sodas) and breakfast was fabulous. We will definitely be returning!! The Buckley Hall Inn is the epitome of charming. What a wonderful place to relax. We spent time on the front porch; greatly enjoyed the gourmet breakfasts and sweet afternoon treats; and relished the welcoming manner and hospitality of the Innkeepers.

We had an amazing experience while staying at Buckley Hall Inn. Beth was great and a fabulous chef! The room was perfect and extremely clean. Beth always made sure our lights were on if we came in after dark, and had our bed turned down perfectly. We will definitley recommend the Inn to others and stay again!

Room was lovely, clean, and comfortable. While asked if there were food allergies, it should also be asked if there are any particular food likes/dislikes. While the feta/spinach quiche was very good, it was quite an unusual choice when one is expecting a southern, country breakfast. Also, would recommend adding cable.

We went to Buckley Hall to celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary and even when calling to inquire, Beth, the innkeeper, took special interest in our weekend. She recommended activities in the area after hearing of our occasion and what we were interested in. Upon arriving, she greeted us and immediately provided additional information about Mathews County. She was so thoughtful and caring about our special day that she left a bottle of cider along with plates and silverware so that we could enjoy our wedding cake after dinner. The next morning, she prepared an AMAZING breakfast. Her hospitality and thoughtfulness made our anniversary very memorable.

Buckley Hall Inn is a lovely B&B: beautiful appointed, charming and delightful couple owning and running the establishment. They were quite helpful in selecting a restaurant. We enjoyed the comfort and pleasure of beautiful antiques, many of which are probably family pieces. Best news for us: no glaringly Victorian touches such as antimacassars on the armchairs. We had a delightful stay and my only regret is that it was far too brief! Marty Carter Bryn Mawr PA Coming home I have recommended it to several friends.

We found it a very relaxing, peaceful, quiet retreat from the hubub of city life. Beth and Gerald, the innkeepers, made us feel very welcome. The food, company and atmosphere at breakfast reminded us of cozy times from the past with friends and family. It was an adventure exploring the area around Mathews. We highly recommend Buckley Inn Bed and Breakfast.

Buckley Hall Inn is our escape from the clamor of the D.C. suburbs. Beth Lewis always bakes a little desert for us as we decompress after I-95 traffic. We've tried most of the B&Bs in the area, and this is the best. Beth and Gerald have been the perfect hosts, and have made us feel at home. We've loved this area and Buckley Hall so much that we are planning to move here! Jim and Linda Dalgety

We stayed at the Buckley Hall Inn during our visit with family in Mathews for Thanksgiving this year. The room - and indeed the rest of the house - was beautiful, elegantly decorated. We felt welcomed and at home; breakfast was divine. We're looking forward to getting to stay there again soon! - Jennifer & Tom

We have been coming to Buckley Hall Inn for the last four years whenever we are in the area and we wouldn't stay anywhere else! Beth and Gerald make us feel like part of the family. We especially enjoy staying during the holidays - the Inn is decorated so beautifully and Beth always serves delicious goodies!

The Inn is charming and beautiful and immaculately clean. The hostess was gracious, and food was excellent. My only complaint, and a reason I probably won't stay here again, was the absence of a TV or even a radio! I was also expecting it to be closer to a waterway. I saw signs for a public beach, but couldn't find it!

Of the many B&Bs that I have stayed, Buckley Hall Inn is by far the best. Beth and Gerald are charming and welcoming. Breakfast is always wonderful and the evening "treats" are a joy.

The house is quaint and holds its charm very well. The decor and furnishings are beautiful and the front porch lends to reading and relaxing. Ms. Beth is a wonderful host and met our needs with a smile. Her breakfast of dutch waffles was awesome! I really enjoyed that area of Virginia and the house is in a central location to several great destinations. My wife loved it and wants to go back soon!

Buckley Hall Inn is an 1850's plantation house with fresh paint, new bathrooms, etc. We arrived on a very hot day, and Beth immediately brought us iced lemonade. Noticing my hiccups, she got some powdered sugar and told me to swallow a spoonful--it worked, and they went away. Everything else about our stay was terrific, and it was a great value!

This wonderful B&B is beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and absolutely charming. Our hosts, Beth and Gerald, could not have been nicer or more helpful. Delicious breakfast - nicest B&B we've ever visited.

We've been coming to this inn for four years, spending two nights each year with 3 other couples as we enjoy a bicycling weekend in historic, peaceful Mathews County, VA. The innkeepers are almost like family at this point, making us all feel very welcome and comfortable. The four rooms are clean, spacious, nicely decorated (without being overdone), and very quiet. The features we like best about this inn are: location (within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops, but set back from the street on a very large lot with lots of trees and beautiful flower gardens), a wonderful big front porch (perfect place for all 8 of us to relax in the comfortable rocking chairs and wicker furniture, sipping wine and enjoying the view), a charming dining room and sitting room (perfect for times when it's too cold to sit outside on the porch); and the fabulous food (delicious breakfasts -- we've never had the same thing twice in 4 years; special home-made desserts each evening). The innkeepers provide us with whatever we need to make our stay perfect (ice for our coolers, wine glasses, restaurant recommendations, etc.) This is the perfect place to relax, smell the roses, and enjoy this area near the Chesapeake Bay.

We spent one week-day night at the Inn, and it was worth days of vacation. Our hosts were very accommodating and allowed us the use of the jacuzzi in an unoccupied room when our room did not have one. Our room was warm and comfortable on a cold March night, and this whole Inn was clean, inviting and relaxing. It is in a good location for exploring the Tidewater-Northern Neck.

The Buckley Hall Inn was probably the best we have ever stayed in. beth could not have been more welcoming! When we arrived, she offered us tea and homemade cookies! We felt right at home. Buckley Hall is very comforting. We will go back again!

My wife and I stayed here for only one night. We wish we could have stayed. Beth is most gracious and everything about this B&B is "ship-shape." The rooms are nice, the bed very comfortable, nice bath, and did I mention there was not a speck of dust! Breakfast was more than we expected. Started off with scones/coffee until breakfast was ready. We're in our 60s, have stayed in many B&Bs and we agreed this was the best we ever stayed in. Even had a small refrigerator upstairs with drinks/snacks. We'll be going back.

A terrific B&B -- one of the best. The Innkeepers were very gracious and helpful. The rooms were outstanding. Great location for touring the area. Each morning featured a number of breakfast dishes from which you could choose rather than just a set breakfast. Everything was delicious. We stayed there to attend the Daffodil Feastival, which was very disappointing. Luckily the Buckley Inn made the weekend very enjoyable.

The Inn was beautiful and clean! The Innkeepers were very nice and informative about the area activities. Breakfast was outstanding! This is a great place just to get away and have a nice romantic weekend. We really enjoyed our 5th anniversary at the Inn.
