  • Welcome to South Court Inn! Spring 2009 was kind to us, just enough rains to keep plants growing and no late frosts and the garden really put on a show for us. We picked this photo not just because of the flower display, but because it also gives a good view of how large the house is. Built in 1875 as a farm house on the front of a 400 acre farm, a major renovation 1938-1940 saw it gain even more rooms, a sun room, the wrap-around porch and a brick veneer. Two parlors combined to make the 15x30 foot living room, the dining room expanded to 18x23 feet and two full baths upstairs made it an exceptionally luxurious house, well ahead of its times. Come visit today and enjoy the gardens and the grand refurbished interiors as part of you elegant getaway here in Luray, in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley...only two hours from Washington but a whole world of less stress and slower paced life away.
This is the Ruby Room. It is elegant and quite Victorian with a unique four post bed and canopy! We've upgraded this, our largest private bathroom with a 6-foot 2-person whirlpool tub, new lighting and décor. There is no shower in this room; just a great big whirlpool tub for the two of you to enjoy! The tub is set in a candlelit nook and invites guests to take a lingering soak before afternoon massages.
    The Turquoise Room.
This is our largest and most sumptuous bedroom…one especially designed for a special getaway! It features a King size bed and the largest room we offer. Simultaneous 'Couples' massage is available in this room. It is on the main floor as well so there are no stairs to climb and you are always only a few steps from the popular Sun Room along with a variety of snacks and the ever-ready Keurig!
Mary Kennard Room Featuring a King Canopy Bed, Electric Fireplace, Seating Nook and Shower for One...or for Two Very Good Friends!
The Edith Hayes Room Edith Hayes has jumped from the 19th to the 21st century. She now sports a one-person whirlpool tub with shower! That makes this room a must for newlyweds or romantics wanting to celebrate in elegance and style! Imagine moving from the whirlpool tub directly to the massage table for a relaxing in-room massage.
The Susie Hodges Cottage is a delightful country cottage in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley! Make the cottage your's for complete privacy for your next anniversary getaway, honeymoon or birthday celebration. Available for the day, days or week. With a queen bedroom upstairs and twin day-bed downstairs, Susie's Cottage is the ideal destination for couples to relax and unwind for a weekend or a week-long vacation.
This photo shows the 200 feet of lawn between the cottage and the garden pavilion. Guests who choose the cottage enjoy the reverse view from the private patio and pergola at the back of the cottage. Elopement, wedding and vows renewal couples can enjoy the privacy of a separate cottage all day and then join everyone for breakfast in the main house, seen here to the left of the cottage, each morning.
Roses, Godiva chocolate and spa gift box invite you to use the Susie Hodges Cottage whirlpool tub as often and any time you'd like. The 4-room private cottage invites couples wanting total privacy, but still wanting the B&B experience. Choose late breakfast delivered to the cottage or join us in the dining room for breakfast at 9AM daily.
Spring is a great time for elopement and private weddings and vows renewal ceremonies in the garden, or for just a tet-a-tet for the two of you. Daffodils are just breaking the ground right now, but 3,000 will be waving hello by mid-March. Come and enjoy!

Here it is, just for all of you who are waiting for an "aaaahhhhhhhhh" moment. We don't get much snow here at South Court, but when we do the 200 foot front lawn makes for spectacular shots of the house and 60-foot tall Norwegian and red spruce trees around the house. Times like this give guests plenty of reason to burrow and enjoy each other's company...or the sun porch...or the video library...or the reading library...or to come up with ideas of their own. Check out the Emma Glenn room to help spark some imagination. You will love it...whether looking for a long hot soak in the 6-foot tub or a quiet cuddle in front of the electric fireplace.

    Comfortable Luxury

    November 24, 2012

My husband and I stayed here for our 1-year wedding anniversary and it was all we could hope for! The Turquoise Room was beautiful and so comfortable and welcoming. The owners were so friendly and offered a great German breakfast...so much food that we had no room for lunch. Little touches here and there, like a wine hour, chocolates everywhere, water, sodas and treats in the room, and the guest names listed on the chalkboard out front made us feel special and welcome during our entire visit.

Last minute get-away better than if we'd spent months planning

    May 23, 2012

My boyfriend and I decided on a Friday night, after a hard week at work, that we wanted to get out of DC and head down to the Shenandoah Valley for a weekend getaway. We booked South Court Inn for Saturday night and jumped in the car early Saturday morning. This was our first B&B and it was a wonderful experience! Everything was clean, beautifully furnished/ decorated, which Anita did herself. The breakfast was much fancier and high-end than we were expecting. Tom and Anita gave us history lessons on their plate ware, old-time etiquette and drew their menu inspiration from actual historic menus. The descriptions enriched our experience, and maybe even made the food taste better! The room was very nice and the bed was extremely comfortable. We had a great night's sleep! Overall- we really couldn't have planned it any better if we had spent more time.

    The Susie Hodges Cottage

    February 04, 2012

We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It was the perfect balance of comfort and privacy. The breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday was amazing; I have tried and failed to make the pumpkin spice french toast at home. Tom and Anita went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to make sure our trip was perfect. We decided to try the wine trail, and we had an wonderful time relaxing at the different wineries. We will definitely be staying at the South Court Inn again. We cannot thank Tom and Anita enough for making our first vacation so wonderful!

    Perfect Thanksgiving Getaway

    November 28, 2011

Tom and Anita are fabulous hosts. The room was comfortable. A welcome snack basket and mini fridge with sodas and water were nice perks we've not experienced before. Meals were FABULOUS -- looked great, tasted great, and were unique. The Thanksgiving package included dinner at the Mimslyn Inn in Luray. It was a delicious dining experience. Tom even made us pumpkin pie and yummy apple pastries for our second dessert! Great coffee to drink with the BEST PUMPKIN FRENCH TOAST made with croissants. Every course, from fruit to dessert, was what I would expect from a fine dining establishment. Tom and Anita have all the bases covered for a marvelous B and B experience. We've been going to B and B's for 10+ years for birthdays and anniversary, and South Court Inn with Tom and Anita Potts rates in the top 3 of all times.
