Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast

Walking into the Piney Hill B&B from the cold one gets the feeling that you are in a warm and welcoming home. It doesn't take long for Hank and Wiley to appear, and THEN you know that you're home! They both are so warm and amicable. Our room (the Walter Rogers room) was warm and comfortable with a spacious bathroom. From the two windows there are views of the surrounding hills and fields. The gourmet breakfasts were delicious. There was plenty of food to carry you through to dinner! Speaking of dinner, there are plenty of restaurants to go to in downtown Luray (a 15 minute drive from Piney Hill). Hank and Wiley willingly provide you with a run down of the restaurants in town with the latest reviews of each. I have stayed in several B&Bs over the years. This surely has to rank at the top. We look forward to our next visit.

Once you visit Piney Hill and experience the charm and hospitality that Wiley and Hank offer, you will be ruined for life. nothing else will ever compare. As an experienced traveler, we've come to know what to expect and what to roll with. Here, we experienced something new--having our expectations exceeded! The food was exceptional--and better than what we could describe with words. We're sort of foodies, and we were impressed. and stuffed! It was more than we could consume, with a great variety, and pleasing visually, and to our palates. We loved the Rosebud Cottage setting, the privacy it afforded us on our honeymoon (Very Important). the cottage is in such great shape--clean, comfortable, perfect for settling in with one of hundreds of movies they offer, or a good book, or for whatever pleases you. We enjoyed the surrounding sights (Flea Market antiques and the Caverns) as well, but the cottage itself was the gem of this trip. We're making plans to return. Doesn't everyone want a slice of heaven while on earth?? If so, visit Rosebud Cottage.

It will be difficult to find a more relaxing visit anywhere. Hank and Wiley make you feel like close family. They are sincerely helpful at suggesting places to go and things to do - and they made us feel like their home is our home. Rooms are clean, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfasts were superb - tasty, attractive, and artfully prepared. Accommodated special diets. We went as guests; but left as family. A wonderful retreat for couples.

They made us feel like we were home, away from home. They also totally rocked by addressing my dietary restrictions and adjusting their menu to suit my needs. Food and service were absolutely amazing! You can tell these men take such pride in their establishment. Their passion shines through them and radiates from everyone that stays with them.

We had a great time in the Rosebud Cottage! Breakfast was amazing. We also thoroughly enjoyed our couples massage, visits with the outdoor kitties, time in the jacuzzi and did we mention the breakfasts? Amazing!

It was definitely a pleasure to stay at Piney Hill. Very quiet and relaxing. Hank and Wiley made us feel at home, were super nice, and provided a wealth of knowledge about restaurants in town, things to do, and their favorite hiking trails in Shenandoah. Fantastic breakfast (you'll be able to skip lunch)! I would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it to others.

Cozy inn nestled in the Shenodoah valley, we had an outstanding stay with the warm hospitality of Hank and Wiley. Food was superb, service and attention to detail were spot on. It is no wonder why this band b is hard to book and so popular. Gift shop on site with wonderful items was an added surprise.

This was the second time my wife and I stayed at Piney Hill and both times were fantastic. Hank and Wiley are simply the best hosts from anywhere I've stayed. They are like staying with old friends because they are so nice a pay attention to small details to make you stay enjoyable and relaxing. We'll be back...hopefully sooner than later.

Like the title says, BE WARNED!! This place will cause an addiction like no other. For starters, Hank and Wiley make you feel like family from the first moment you arrive. Once you are settled into your IMMACULATE/BEAUTIFUL room, they go over local dining and attractions. Immediately you feel more at ease about the what and where of the area. Spending our 1st Anniversary at Piney Hill could have not been more relaxing, more intimate, nor more perfect...period. Hank and Wiley are so attentive to the "little things", that on our bed upon arrival was an anniversary card surrounded by rose petals! The property itself is attractive, very well maintained, and the views are simply breath taking. Piney Hill is "home" literally, you just have that feeling from the moment you step in the door. Just a little teaser about the breakfast: You will A) not be hungry afterward, and B) anticipate with excitement about the next one! We seriously could sit here and continue to rave about Piney Hill, Hank and Wiley......but you will just have to go and find out for yourself!! You will NOT in any way, shape or form be disappointed. We WILL be back.....Thank you both so much!!!!!

We booked for last year during leaf season and were sad to cancel because of other obligations, so we had high hopes for this year's visit. They were all met. Hank and Wiley were gracious hosts with a great knowledge of the area. The trees were in full color; the weather was mild; the house was comfortable; and the food was great. Altogether a very nice visit. It got even better when we went for a hike to Dark Hollow Falls off of Sky Line Drive and got engaged. I credit Piney Hill for being the proper home base and backdrop for a fantastic weekend. We've already scheduled next year's trip!

Piney Hill is just far enough outside the town of Luray to make you feel like you're really off the grid, and at the same time, you're close enough to town for a quick decision to go for dinner, movies, or shopping. You'll feel right at home with Wiley and Hank. The main house and the cottage are immaculately clean, breakfasts are home-made and will definitely give you the energy you'll want for all the hiking, riding, and antiquing in the area. We've been staying there for 10 years now, and plan to keep going back as often as we can!

We truly enjoyed our visit to Piney Hill. In fact before leaving we made a reservation for our next visit. The service and cleanliness go beyond words and the breakfasts served were out of this world. In fact, we are currently suffering from basket withdrawal (the basket in which our breakfasts were delivered to our door). The innkeepers know the area and attractions well. It made it easy for us to incorporate our favorite activities into our stay. I would highly recommend Piney Hill for anyone looking to get away from it all and truly relax in the Shenandoah Valley. We are already counting down the days to our next visit!

We stayed at the Rosebud Cottage to attend a wedding. It was so cozy and beautiful and romantic. The breakfasts were huge and delicious, homemade sweet treats were brought by in the afternoons. The hosts were so kind and warm. Looking forward to when we can stay there again!

My girlfriend and I wanted to get away from the city and relax for a few days. We had an awesome time at Piney Hill. Hank and Wiley took care of us during our stay. We loved the Rosebud Cottage. If you are ever going to visit Luray and/or want to relax for a few days, I would highly recommend the Rosebud Cottage--it was so relaxing. Oh, don't forget about the jacuzzi under the night. My husband and I couldn't have made a better choice. We were only staying for the night as we were heading south to a wedding, but Hank & Wiley made us feel right at home. I love antiques and I was in heaven just checking everything out. The place has rustic country charm in every nook and cranny. They gave us a run-down of the restaurants in Luray. If we were able to stay longer we would have had a list of things to do. My husband had asked about a sweets shop in Luray and that he had a hankering for something chocolate. Hank mentioned that they had just made a chocolate cake and would have it in our room when we returned from dinner. What a pleasant surprise! The breakfast we had the following morning was scrumptious. I can't say enough about this wonderful place. We plan to go again and I would recommend Piney Hill B&B highly. Valerie Schwartz

Great hosts, fantastic breakfast in a beautifully restored farm house in a bucolic setting.

The second time around at the Rosewood Cottage was even more fun and relaxing than the first time we were here. We enjoyed our only neighbor, the bull next door and the views from the back porch across his pasture were spectacular. We are looking forward to our third visit ... soon. Our favorite bed and breakfast in America.

My husband and I spent 2 nights relaxing prior to his deployment. We picked a great place to go. The inn was gorgeous, Hank and Wiley were warm, welcoming and extremely helpful, and the breakfasts were delicious.

My husband and I both have demanding careers and busy family schedules. We were looking for a honeymoon that would allow us to relax and become rejuvenated while we enjoyed each other. Our stay at Piney Hill more than exceeded that expecation! The entire process from booking our reservation through checking out was absolutely wonderful. Customer service is something that we are both very particular about and the service we received was phenomenal!! Everything from the cleanliness of the property, the exceptional breakfasts, the serene natural beauty, and the activities and meals that were recommended were magnificient!! We can't WAIT to return.

My boyfriend and I stayed with Hank and Wiley for the weekend to celebrate his birthday and our 1-year anniversary. It was the perfect romantic weekend. The house and scenery are beautiful, the house is quiet and even though there were two other couples there, we could easily be alone when we wanted. Breakfast both days was amazing and provided lots of energy for the activities ahead. We went kayaking down the Shenendoah for a beautiful 8-mile trek, and rested with a bottle of wine in the hot tub that evening. Best weekend in a long time.

The two Innkeepers were extremely helpful and friendly. As we wanted to get an early start each day, a lovely breakfast was put in our fridge the night before. The area is just beautiful and very peaceful.

I wanted to do something special for my wife and after some minor research I discovered this gem, Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast. When we arrived we were greeted by the Innkeepers, Hank and Wiley and were made to feel as if we were at home. My wife and I stayed in the Rosebud Cottage which offers breathtaking views and the comfort of home. The landscaping is beautiful and maintained by meticulous hands. Breakfast was plentiful and freshly made, as are the deserts that tend to make you feel spoiled, but in a good way! The views at night are just as stimulating as they are during the day. There is also a hot tub outside that provides you with relaxation anytime during the day or underneath the moonlit sky. Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast is an amazing place and the wonderful innkeepers go the extra mile to make your stay a rememberable one. This was our first time here but definitely not the last. I think that we've found our second home!

This inn sets a very high standard! We spent three nights over the 4th of July weekend and loved everything about it - the countryside setting, the beautifully decorated home, the little touches of comfort and convenience throughout. We purposely came back to the inn late one afternoon just to enjoy the surroundings, sit on the porch and take in the view before departing again for the eveing. Incredible breakfasts, delicious and plentiful, so plan on skipping lunch! And what a nice surprise to find freshly baked butter pecan cake waiting for us after a long day playing tourist. The best part of all - the Innkeepers, Hank and Wiley! They are wonderfully gracious, kind and helpful hosts who made us feel at home right away. When we left, we felt we were leaving good friends. In summary, Piney Hill helped make our holiday getaway to Luray truly memorable.

Very quaint and country B&B relaxing and well maintain, decor very welcoming I felt at home.From the minute we arrived we were treated well, the rooms are awesome and the cottage is very private. From the special attention in detail to the extra special attention given to breakfast, and afternoon surprise treat and your bed being turn down with chocolate being left by your pillow . The 2 owners Wiley and Hank are so helpful and will help you give suggestions so your trip is enjoyable. I will be going back again soon .

The hosts of this quaint B&B could not be more helpful and accommodating. The setting is quiet and peaceful amid rolling fields and farms. Rooms are spotlessly clean and fresh. Topping it off is a marvelous breakfast that deserves its own review on a culinary website.

My husband and I stayed at Piney Hill for our first year anniversary on June 5th and we were amazed. The views are breathtaking, the house has so much character, the food is AMAZING, and the hosts are a delight. My husband and I were just looking for a relaxing little getaway before I had a surgery that was going to limit my activities for several months in recuperation. I'd wanted to revisit Luray, VA to update childhood memories of more than 30 years. The Piney Hill was one of the top rated and reviewed B&B's and the online photos looked charming and inviting so we booked our stay. Upon arrival we were greeted by Hank and Wiley welcomed to our room and all the history and features of this beautiful B&B. We were given great information on the area and where to go to grab a light late dinner before retiring for the evening. The breakfasts and snacks are perfection as well as the eye for details in making you feel right at home. We enjoyed a stroll on the grounds after a trip to the Caverns and being spectacle to the neighboring farm's cattle. If you want beautiful views, personable and knowledgeable Innskeepers, charming/relaxing surroundings and great food then we would definitely recommend the Piney Hill B&B in Luray, Va.!

This was our first time staying at a B&B, and it was such a great experience. Hank and Wiley are awesome and truly do make you feel right at home. Their breakfasts were seriously to die for. Sooo scrumptious! They are also very knowledgeable about the area and gave us wonderful suggestions on places to eat and hiking trails. I must say, their advice was always spot on. The horseback riding and river boat tours we booked through them were fantastic, too. Our whole stay was just pretty much perfect. It is such a beautiful area, and the hospitality from Hank and Wiley make it that much better! I definitely hope to return!

We have stayed at Piney Hill yearly for the past 5 years. Every stay is better than the last. We always try to get the Rosebud Cottage as it provides a fabulous sunset view of the mountains from its private back patio. The breakfasts are far better than any resturant we have ever visited. Simple words cannot describe the excellent experience we had at Piney Hill B&B Rosebud Cottage. The minute we arrived Hank and Wiley made us feel like we were friends forever. Their attention to detail is absolutely astounding. The grounds, home, cottage and views are beautiful and decorated perfectly with classy country charm! These guys are the best hosts anyone could ask for the world over. They were extremely attentive and even readjusted our itineraries for us so that we could make the best of the sunshine during a stay that could have been ruined by rainy weather. The food was plentiful and absolutely out of this world! Their knowledge of the area is amazing and their recommendations for restaurants, things to do and places to see are top notch. Everyone we talked to in the area knew of their excellent reputation and are highly respected. You cannot miss this experience and the Rosebud Cottage affords an excellent romantic getaway for newlyweds, couples celebrating anniversaries (like us our 25th) or just plain rekindling relationships. As the title states, this is without a doubt the best place to stay in the area and likely the whole East Coast!

Hank and Wiley are wonderfully welcoming and friendly hosts and have beautifully restored the house. You eat a tasty and generous breakfast each morning at a communal table with the other guests, and everyone swaps tales about what they did the day before. There are some great hikes to be done in the nearby mountains, and the Luray caverns are well worth a visit. Or you can just on the porch and read and enjoy the view. We'll be back!

Wiley and Hank are the consummate Innkeepers!! They attend to EVERY detail. The house is immaculate and charming, Hank & Wiley are so thoughtful and make you feel so welcome ... you can't help but have the time of your life. Luray is a great town with lots of relaxing things to do and Piney Hill offers the best breakfast and night's rest, plus a fabulous hot tub!! And the view ... the whole experience is heaven on earth. We hated to leave and returning home to reality was down right depressing. We HIGHLY recommend Piney Hill B&B!!!!!!

We were skeptical about the rating of "One of the top B&Bs in the United States". Surely it was nothing more than "in-house fluff" or "ballot stuffing by friends of the owners". No such thing -- our stay was utterly sublime from the moment we checked in to the moment we left. Located in a gorgeous rural area a few miles from Luray, the B&B is a world apart from all the bustle of civilization. Nevertheless, it is decorated in whimsical yet elegant style. Cookies are available at all hours; breakfast is tastefully done and the bed was the best we have ever slept in. But it is the two inn-keepers who make this place extraordinary. From the overview of area attractions to the sensitive questioning of personal interests (so that more personal suggestions could be made to enhance our stay in the area) to a genuine warmth and openness in hosting us, we basked in the ambiance of Piney Hill. Being experienced travellers who have been all of the world, it is wonderful to be so surprised and touched. Any praise of Piney Hill would be an understatement. Go and enjoy!! We will certainly be back!

This is a very nice litte B&B where we were made to feel right at home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have no hesitation in highly recommending Piney Hill to others. Bangkok travelers

the innkeepers truly seemed to enjoy thier guests and their vocation as providers of Southern hospitality. While we intended initially to just relax and - hopefully - enjoy some warmer weather we found many activities in the area besides the famous Luray Caverns. Antiquing in Front Royal, history and an interesting pedestrian mall in Winchester. Also many breathtaking photos were taken from the observation areas along Skyline drive. We would gladly return and perhaps rent the cabin, take a good book, sit on the porch and enjoy the farmland and the company of the cows and friendly outdoor cats.

The innkeepers are terrific. They really care about their guests and making everyone comfortable. The breakfasts are great! Piney Hill is out in the country -- and definitely worth the drive. It's close enough to Luray, the caverns, wineries, Skyline Drive, etc., but still removed from everything and very relaxing.

We were looking for a peaceful weekend getaway in the mountains and we found it at Piney Hill! There are panoramic views of the mountains and they are short distance (5 minutes) from the restaurants in town. Far enough to get the country feel but not so far that is daunting for city folk. Breakfasts were on time, hot (and frozen!) and the innkeepers, Hank & Wiley, were full of local secrets and tips on food & attractions. We had a wonderful experience!

My partner surprised me with a 50th birthday weekend away and I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Piney Hill Bed and Breakfast. We were immediately greeted by Hank and Wiley (Innkeepers) and I immediately felt like I have known them for years. The Bed and Breakfast was immaculate and was also perfectly decorated with collectables and antiques. We stayed in the Rose Bud Cottage and it felt like home. From the extra little touches provided by Hank and Wiley to sitting on the back porch "talking" to the cows, I quickly realized that I would become a repeat guest. The queen size bed was so comfortable that I didn't want to leave its warmth. Our breakfasts were mouth watering! We soon found ourselves looking forward to having a breakfast picnic basket delivered and anticipated the knock on the door each morning. Oh and the snacks! Mmmmmmm, Best sticky buns I have ever tasted! Hank and Wiley were more than willing to provide us with dining and recreation suggestions and went above the norm and even made dinner reservations for us. I will certainly recommend Piney Hill Bed and Breakfast (Rose Bud Cottage) to all of my friends.

My girlfriend and I ventured to Piney Hill BnB for a combined birthday and valentines day weekend celebration. We found ourselves extremely lucky to find Piney Hill as our first experience at a BnB. I have traveled to 20+ countries around the world, both 3rd world and modernized, and have yet to enjoy my stay anywhere as much as I did here. Hank and Wiley are the most gracious and accommodating of hosts. They maintain Piney Hill with the utmost attention to detail; from the simple comforts they provided up arrival in our bedroom, to the concierge like service of helping make our plans for the weekend, to the amazing breakfast food they serve each day. I'm typically not one to repeat travel to the same place 2x because I like change and new experiences, however both my girlfriend and I have agreed Piney Hill will be on our list to repeat later this year.

Wonderful getaway location to just unwind and relax. Hank & Wiley are the best hosts and the breakfasts are out of this world. The best food hands down in Luray. Wish we could have had all our meals at the B&B. Will be visiting again, someday, but wish it could be more often. A little bit country and a whole lot of home.

Piney Hill B& B is in a great location, tucked in the middle of the Shenandoah Valley among farms. The home and rooms are cozy, warm and inviting. A wonderful play to get away.

My husband and my brother and his wife and I treated ourselves to a three day vacation at the Piney Bed and Breakfast, Columbus Day weekend of 2010. The four of us are booked for the same rooms that weekend in 2011. The views from Piney Hill B&B of the mountains are breathtaking and the chairs in the side yard found us reading our favorite books while enjoying the view. My brother has a high power job in DC and his wife also has a busy professional life. They need the break. My husband is a semi retired engineer in the Richmond, Virginia area and I am a retired schoolteacher. What a perfect spot for a family reunion! We plan to make it a yearly gathering spot. If they are good perhaps one day we will invite a daughter or a son to join us. For now it is our and your piece of heaven on earth.

Piney Hill Bed and Breakfast is a gem in the heart of the Shenandoah. We arrived later in the evening on a Friday and Wiley and Hank answered the door with open arms. They are the so friendly and welcoming. Their house is a beautifully restored farmhouse. It really felt like we were staying with old friends. The Walter Rogers room is so cute with its own gas fireplace. And the food...oh the food! It really starts your day off right. And Wiley and Hank know everything about things to do in the area. You will never be bored no matter when you go. We cannot wait to go back in the spring. The bar has been set really high. It gets an A++++++. Thanks Wiley, Hank and Bean!

Wiley and Hank were wonderful. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home. From the warm greeting, to the detailed map of the city, to the delicious meals and fun conversation, they were exceptional. The caverns were awe inspiring, the boat ride was beautiful and the National Park was astonishing. This was our 1st anniversary and we plan on going back next year!

There are views from all the rooms, and gardens on all sides of the house. It's a long way out in the country, especially at night, but that's part of it's charm. The food is fab, and the hosts are helpful and delightful. Highly recommended. Lucy and Frank

Piney Hill is all they say it is. Located in a beautiful country setting, with views of the mountains out our bedroom window, Piney Hill has all the charm of a turn of the century country home. The breakfasts were fabulous and kept us full most of the day! And our inn keepers went out of their way to ensure we had fun on our one day of not so nice weather. Turned out, it was one of the best days of our 10 day trip! The map drawn for our adventure and recommended stops along the way (pottery, flea market, country store, covered bridge, restaurant for lunch) was so appreciated. Would not hesitate to recommend Piney Hill to anyone coming to the Luray/Skyline Drive area.

Hank and Wiley are outstanding hosts. They made us very welome and the B&B was very comfortable. Out away from Luray and in the peace and quiet. Breakfast were delicious and had more that enough food to last all day on the morning breakfast. Those not familiar with country roads may want to have a GPS to help navigate to the site. Roads are all paved so you won't have a problem that way. Not many restaurant choices in Luray and being from NM, I was dissaponted with the Rancho Viejo. Their Red and Green chili sauces are horrible. Luray Caves in definetly a site to see. Was much more than I though it would be.

We stayed here as a relaxing wrap-up for our visit to DC. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and very personal without being too over-bearing. Hank and Wiley invite you into their Inn like you are their oldest and dearest friends, and will astonish you with their appropriate-sized, delicious breakfasts! They bend over backwards to make your time with them as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. We enjoyed our time with them immensely!

From the initial email contact inquiring what type of hot beverage in the morning if any we would prefer to the wonderful hugs saying good-bye, you could tell we were experiencing one of the best B&B in the country. The rooms were charming, the breakfast sensational, the conceirge service was so helpful but I brought back something special. ...a renew sense of caring and an enthusiasm for life to share with others. Piney Hill B&B had a lot of great reviews, but I have stayed in many B&Bs all over the east coast, so I booked with high expectations. Piney Hill came through. Although I have stayed at more elegant B&B's, PH rates right up there because of one overriding factor, the inn keepers. Wiley and Hank (yes, you will feel free to be on a first name basis right away) are so gracious, helpful, funny, talkative and just downright great guys, that you might find yourself missing them when you leave. If not them, then definitely the fabulous breakfasts. You feel like the reverse is also true, because they may send an email to you hoping we had a good time and wishing you well on the rest of your vacation, details of which they remember and mention. You might be tempted to say, oh, just good marketing, but after you meet these guys, you will know it is genuine. Did I mention the fabulous breakfasts? The setting is out in the country (have faith, you will get there), but the mountain and pastorial views are beautiful. A wonderful place to stay a night or two. Oh yeah, the breakfasts are fabulous. They seem to have many repeat customers and I think we will be one of them.

What a great B&B!!! Not only are the rooms beautiful, the entire home is gorgeous. Prior to checking in Wiley sent us a welcome email offering information on a wonderful evening cruise on the Shenandoah, along with detailed directions. Immediately we were comfortable when Hank greeted us at the door and gave us the history of the property. The Inn arranged tickets to Luray Caverns for us, had snacks waiting, and gave us lots of info on the area and suggestions for places to eat. They have a great little gift barn on site with the cutest (and reasonably priced) items -- I did my Christmas shopping! Delicious breakfast and good company. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer! Do yourself a favor and book Piney Hill and enjoy all that the area has to offer.

Our first trip to the Shenandoah Valley area included our first stay at a bed and breakfast. Piney Hill was rated number 1 in the area by Trip Advisor so we decided to make that our base of operations for a 4-night stay touring the area. We couldn't have been more pleased. Hank and Wiley were the perfect hosts, greeted us warmly on our arrival and immediately made us feel at home.The guys purchased the old farmhouse in 2000 and did a magnificent job modernizing the place. We stayed in the Emma Ruffner Rodgers room on the second floor. It was, as advertised, a bright, cheery room with a very comfortable queen bed and very nice private bathroom with large shower. The room was cozy and comfortable, though a clothes closet would have been appreciated. The only storage area was a two-drawer dresser and a row of coat hooks, so we mainly lived out of our suitcase. The room had modern amentities- cable TV, all-season fireplace, and a/c. Breakfasts were unbelievable- enough to keep us satisfied until late in the afternoon. There was no thought of doing lunch- we were too stuffed. The guys were also great about discussing the area with us and recommending restaurants and attractions- even printing out driving directions for us. The area is gorgeous- farms with cattle, pigs and sheep all around- we even woke to the sound of "mooing" one morning! Evidently they do quite a business with repeat customers and it's easy to see why. We will definitely return when in the area in the future.

We came back for a 2nd time because we enjoyed the first time so much a couple years ago. The view is wonderful, the atmosphere is fun, and we appreciate the great hospitality. Wiley & Hank anticipated our needs better than any other place we've stayed and we were glad we could stay with them another time.

My husband an I spent our five-year anniversary at Piney Hill. We stayed two nights, but I wish we could have stayed longer. The B&B is situated in a very beautiful setting, just a few miles outside of downtown Luray. The room was well furnished and very clean, and our bathroom had all the necessities and toiletries you need when you travel. The innkeepers are friendly and helpful with suggestions for dinner and area attractions. The best part of the experience was the breakfast. Both days, were were served a plentiful breakfast that was amongst the best I have ever had. I'm not a "breakfast" person in general, but I thoroughly enjoyed the meals we were served. Snacks and sodas are also provided throughout the day. We appreciated that after an afternoon of nearby wine-tasting. With only a two hour drive from the DC area, this is a fantastic and easy getaway.

We where very happy with our stay at Piney Hill B&B. Hank and Willie where great hosts and very informative. They gave us very good suggestions on the best places to go and went out of there way to make us feel comfortable. We couldn't ask for more. We are planning to return in the near future.

I could not have imagined a more perfect setting to plan and celebrate my engagement than at Piney Hill. Everything from the location with the picturesque scenery, to the amazing breakfasts and turn down desserts made this a top-notch B&B. We weren't just staying at a business, it felt more like we were visiting very accommodating friends. Wiley and Hank were great hosts and made our weekend stay most enjoyable. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing weekend or a romantic get-a-way in the Shenandoah Valley, this is the place to stay. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

We really enjoyed our getaway at the Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast. It was our first B&B experience so we weren't sure what to expect but now we are hooked. Hank & Wiley were gracious hosts and very helpful with providing dining recommendations, suggestions of things to do, and were just super friendly. We stayed in the cottage and breakfast was delivered to our door each morning. It was delicious and we looked forward to it each time. We look forward to visiting Piney Hill B&B again!

I'd never stayed at a bed and breakfast before venturing here with my girlfriend to celebrate her birthday. Everything was wonderful - Wiley and Hank are the perfect hosts, and they made sure we had an excellent time. The B&B is a charming place that's nestled in the hills and pastures. There are cows! A barn! A big porch with rocking chairs! Our room - the Emma Ruffner Rogers room - was neat and clean and very cozy. There's even an all-weather fireplace. The food is what people rave about on here, and they're right - both breakfasts we had were delicious, and so huge neither of us could finish them. Which is a shame, because they were so good! Great coffee, too. There is a lot outdoor space, too - a nice back yard with a hot tub and a few chairs and places to sit and enjoy the country quiet. All in all, a wonderful experience. I'm sure we'll be back!

If your looking for some peace and quiet while still feeling at home Piney Hills B&B is the place to stay. My husband and I just came back for our 18th anniversay all I can say is "so looking forward to going back" This place was far beyond my expectations. Wiley and Hank welcomed us with opened arms & big smiles. The house was very warm, comfortable, private and peaceful. Breakfast was ontime and can I say deliciousx100. This was our first true bed and breakfast experience .... and we were not disappointed. Already we are planning a return trip this summer for a longer stay. Piney Hill is located outside of Luray, down a country road, surrounded by cow pastures. The house and premises were beautiful and well maintained. We stayed at the Mark Ruffner suite upstairs. The bed in my room was so comfortable, I didn't even miss my bed back home. Wiley and Hank were great hosts - both were helpful and friendly. We felt at home there and got some great advice about the local restaurants (we loved the Artisan's Grille downtown). Breakfast was awesome! What a way to start the day. I'm looking forward to trying out some of the recipes at home. The snack at night was a surprising treat as well. If you're looking for a relaxing stay out in the country, this place is for you. And don't worry about being bored....there's a lot to see and do in the Luray area.

I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anybody looking to stay near Shenandoah National Park. We were heading to the park for hiking and a drive down Skyline Drive. This is the place to stay. It is located within a few miles from the park and also near other activities, which we did as well, canoeing and the Luray Caverns...both of which were spectacular! The bed and breakfast itself it situated amongst gorgeous mountains and farmland. The innkeepers, Hank and Wiley, have not left any details untouched. Everything is taken care of so meticulously and with careful detail. The rooms are immaculate. They are extremely helpful in helping to figure out where to go, what to do, and how to do it. In addition, the breakfasts are delicious and presented with great care and creativity. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anybody looking to stay in the Shenandoah area.

Piney Hill was a perfect weekend in a delightful setting. Hank and Wiley are exceptionally gracious hosts; warm and welcoming. Not only is their magnificent spot rural and peaceful, but they have invested tremendous effort and love into making their Bed and Breakfast magical. The house itself is charming, interesting and immaculately restored and improved, with several inviting outdoor seating areas in which to read and admire the countryside. It is a short drive to Shenandoah National Park and the Skyline Drive, as well as Luray Caverns and many good local restaurants and wineries. Piney Hill is idyllic however, because from where they are you see and hear only farms, meadows and mountains. Silent at night. Breakfast was copious, delicious and imaginative- and when we returned from our hike there were two slices of fresh homemade pound cake waiting on a tray in our room. Our weekend at Piney Hill will give us memories to dream about for a long time to come.

Piney Hill was exactly what we were looking for in a weekend getaway. Hank and Wiley were amazing hosts, providing us with tourist information, making us reservations, and presenting beautiful and delicious breakfasts! Every breakfast was not only delicious but a fun time for socializing. Hank, Wiley, the other guests...I felt like we had been friends for years. At the same time though, we never felt "smothered" or had a lack of privacy. The hot tub was the highlight for us. Despite the cold weather, getting in the hot tub under the stars...amazing! We also enjoyed the various activities in the area...wine tasting, the caverns, Skyline Drive...we never had a lack of things to do. The only con in the area...the restaurants were not exceptional...not bad, but not exceptional. The condition of the rooms at Piney Hill are immaculate! Clean, cozy, comfortable. Hank and Wiley really pay attention to detail. A charming house with lots of fun history.

My wife and I booked this B&B online without a referral, with no real idea of what to expect. We were completely blown away by the innkeepers, Hank and Wiley. Their hospitality, friendly demeanors, wit and charm helped make this an unforgettable experience. They go out of their way to get to know their guests and personalize their stay. To top it off, their homemade breakfast every morning was better than any meal we ate dining out in Luray.

We were looking for an anniversary weekend getaway within three hours from Baltimore. I looked at over 40 B&B's on-line before we booked Piney Hill! I've stayed in others and this is by far the best. We stayed in the Walter Roger's room, it was very romantic, clean, and comfortable and the decor was beautiful. Hank and Wiley are excellent hosts, they thought of everything! Hank maid the most beautiful silk flower arrangement for our anniversary and put silk flower petals on the bed too! They had treats upon our arrival and sweats on our bed when we came back to the room at night. Not to mention the breakfast was to die for. We came as guests, but we left as friends! We are already planning a trip back in the summer on our motorcycles!

We were looking for a weekend getaway within two hours of DC -- I had never even heard of Luray, but booked Piney Hill just based on the Trip Adviser reviews. It was a perfect retreat! We stayed in the Rosebud Cottage, which gave us complete privacy, yet with all of the B&B amenities -- from a delicious breakfast, to homemade cookies waiting for us when we got back from a day of exploring the town. Hank and Wiley were so friendly and helpful -- it was exactly what we were looking for!

My husband and I just spent 2 nights in the Rosebud Cottage at the Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast for our honeymoon. It was absolutely fantastic!! In my husband's words, "Wow, these guys really know what they're doing!" The 'breakfast fairy" came each morning around 8:50am, knocked on the door, and left a picnic basket full of deliciousness on the table in the screened-in porch. The breakfast was SO GOOD and more than you could ever hope to finish. It looked beautiful too. The cottage was beautifully decorated and offered everything we could ever want. The privacy of the cottage was great -- just the cows out back a little ways off the patio (along with a million stars at night), and in the front a row of hedges sits between the screened in porch and the main house. The outdoor jacuzzi with the beautiful views was great, especially after a long day of hiking in the nearby mountains. Hank and Wiley have really thought of everything. They are so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They gave us great advice on restaurants, hiking, and local activities. They work very hard to keep Piney Hill in travelers' good graces, and it shows. They obviously take great pride in their establishment. I could go on and on -- we just can't say enough good things! GO THERE! We will be back!

First BB experience and it was fantastic. Future BB's will have much to live up to. The setting is very peaceful, calming and close to the Shenandoah National Park. Room was spotless and great attention to detail was evident. Breakfast was awesome. Wiley and Hank were very gracious hosts with loads of knowledge about surrounding area activities, places to eat, places to hike, places to visit etc. From the beginning they welcomed us as if we were old friends and continued that feeling throughout the stay. This is "THE" place to stay when in the Luray area.

Getting away to Piney Hill was an incredible experience - Innkeepers Hank and Wiley made our stay in their beautifully appointed Rosebud Cottage extra special from the moment we arrived - celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary, we found a card waiting on our bed, tea lights for a romantic evening, freshly baked cookies, just to start. Amazing breakfasts arrived at our door piping hot from the oven in a picnic basket for two each morning. Our hosts spent time getting to know us, arranging day activities, dinner reservations and even creating a evening of smore-making over an open fire. From their beautifully appointed rooms and main house to their romantic garden with views of the mountains and their own antique barn, we couldn't have asked for a more memorable weekend! Piney Hill is a stop we'll make again in the years to come.

We stayed 2 nights are this wonderful B&B. The reviews sounded too good to be true but we found that it lived up to its excellent reputation. The views were beautiful, the accommodations were great and the innkeepers delightful. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and so hardy that we were late afternoon before we thought of eating again. We are already telling our friends if they are looking for a place that is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenery – this is it. A sampler in the living room said it all – “How nice it is to do nothing and relax after.”

Piney Hill is a fabulous B&B to enjoy delicious food, beautiful surroundings, and great company. We started each day with an incredible breakfast that was not only a treat for our nose and tummy but also kept us energized through our adventures in the Shenandoah Valley. Then, we returned home sip wine in the outdoor hot tub with mountain and farm views! After dinner, we would frequently find a delicious sweet treat awaiting us.... Hank and Wiley know the area well and were able to suggest lots of great activities that were suited to our interests and abilities... They have a remarkable ability to get to know people and help each guest find exactly what they would hope for a vacation! This is a wonderful B&B in a beautiful part of the country!

My husband and I spent his birthday weekend at Piney Hill B&B. It was one of the best weekends we had in a very long time. Hank and Wiley were simply delightful. They made us feel very welcome and like part of the family. The breakfasts were "to die for" and we looked forward to them each morning. Of course, every guests must stay at the Rosebud Cottage! We will definitely make Piney Hill B&B our regular vacation spot.

My wife and I enjoyed our two-night stay at a place that's just like home! Great room decor, extremely hospitable hosts, and a fabulous breakfast each morning. What more could you ask for?! Hank and Wiley's attention to little details (chocolates in the room, sodas in the in-room fridge, distilled water for the in-room coffee maker, and on and on and on) make this a place we look forward to visiting again. Their restaurant recommendations and the pre-arranged horseback riding made for an unforgettable stay.

This adorable farmhouse looks like it is right out of a cozy storybook. Hank and Wiley were incredibly nice and very helpful. I mentioned somewhere in the booking process that I was surprising my fiance with this trip for his birthday and when we arrived the innkeepers had left a birthday card on the bed for him. Neither one of us had ever been to the area before and they helped us pick out restaurants, and places to go, giving us directions and maps to everything. They had the most amazing hot tub located on a trellised garden porch. We sat on the wrap around porch for lunch almost everyday, and the bedroom was clean and cozy with this wonderful "all season" fireplace. The food was amazing, my fiance (who is a picky eater) ate everything. The place was so nice we almost didn't want to go see the area, we just wanted to relax in the house all day! We had never stayed at a B&B before and I was nervous about the idea of staying in someone's house, but I felt totally comfortable there. They made me feel like I was staying with friends, very helpful friends who cook great breakfasts!

Travelling with my wife and daughter, we spent two wonderful nights at Hank & Wiley's B&B. I have delayed writing a review as I am simply stuck for the correct superlatives! On arrival our first impressions were that we had chosen a great B&B and during our stay things just kept getting better and better! In fact rather than the two nights we did stay, we really wished that we were staying longer. The guys have done so much to make you feel at home, you begin to wish that it was! We stayed in the Mark Ruffner Suite, which is just perfect if there are more than two (adults) in the party. The whole property is a feast for the eyes and just when you think it can't get better you doscover the outside vistas. From the garden, we were very fortunate in seeing a young bear and mother before breakfast - I'm sure others have been spotted since - but wow, what a way to start a vacation in Shenendoah! There is plenty to do from here - the caverns, the Skyline Drive and multitude of walks, horse riding (highly recommended), leisurely river strolls and vineyards or guess what - just chilling out! Hank & Wiley, you have a terrific approach to the B&B sector and as you say, people arrive as stangers and depart as friends. We are seasoned travellers and when we say, it was a perfect start to our vacation - it was indeed the perfect start! Thank you so much - and we sincerely hope to visit again. Peter & family

Stayed three days/two nights. Hank and Wiley are amazing! Their home is inviting and comfortable. Their yard is beautiful with lots of places to relax and enjoy the views of the county side and mountains. Breakfast was fabulous, as were the restaurant recommendations. We looked for our first bed and breakfast online, thinking to find a honeymoon spot in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The website attracted us and the whole place lived up to those same expectations. We think that we got a gem in the world of B&B's. We stayed in the Rosebud Cottage and had delicious breakfasts delivered to us in picnic baskets which we ate in the back of the cottage, overlooking the neighboring pastures. Piney Hill is close to Luray and all of its sites, some of which we got an opportunity to take advantage of during our short stay.

Hank and Wiley at Piney Hill B and B have created the perfect getaway environment from the busy city life. We enjoyed the small town experience and the weekend away from DC. We stayed in one of the cottages which was very clean, inviting, and cosy. It had everything we needed, and the breakfasts and afternoon snacks were exceptionally delightful. They covered all the details including checking ingredients in all foods due to my boyfriend's nut allergy as well as washing all sheets/towels in fragrance free detergent due to a skin allergy that I have! Talk about top notch service. Hank and Wiley are also very inviting, provide all details of Luray's dining and sites, and just pleasant to chat with. There are also plenty of activities to keep yourself busy in the area to include horseback riding, kayaking, swimming, hiking, touring caverns, and the list goes on. Hank and Wiley were also very helpful and knowledgeable when it came to finding things to do during the day. I highly recommend Piney Hill bed and breakfast, and we will undoubtedly return!

Although an abrupt change of plans took us to Piney Hill, we couldn’t be happier with our experience. The tempting smell of Hank’s butter pecan cake as we entered the inn set the stage for a wonderful stay. The views are beautiful, the breakfast was perfection, and the inn is one of the most charming we’ve visited. Wiley's knowledgeable recommendations helped with a choice of dinner spots, and his directions got us the rest of the way through our spontaneous weekend trip. Away from the bustle of town and the caverns, but a short drive when you're ready to visit them.

This was my 6th visit at Piney Hill. I enjoy going there not only to relax but to see friends Hank and Wiley. Its like coming home to family that you dont get to see that often but when you do see them you feel like youre at home. Some people think that when you go to a B&B that you only see the inn keepers for breakfast. Well that's not the case here. They also are involved with their guests and what they have plans to do for the day. They give ideas of what to do, where to eat, even making dinner reservations for you. They also help you get around with maps and ideas. I will continue to go back every Memorial Day weekend. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful visit at the Piney Hill B&B. Our hosts, Wiley and Hank were fantastic and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. My husband and I had the most wonderful experience at Piney Hill. The Hosts were so warm and inviting.They made conversation so easy and we definitely felt welcome. The accomodations were superb. The breakfast was delicious and so well presented. We got there as it was getting dark, so I had a surprise waiting for me when I got up in the morning and walked outside- What a View from the back of the property-breathe taking! My husband and I went down to Luray for the weekend. We have done weekends at B&Bs before, but this was definitely the best experience. Luray has plenty to do, but Hank and Wiley also make relaxing and doing nothing wonderful as well. Lying around in the hammock or rocking on the front porch was fantastic. Breakfast was excellent and we loved the afternoon snacks. They were the perfect hosts, always full of wonderful advice, but never intrusive. We'll be back!

We enjoy staying in B&B's because we often meet interesting people and get to enjoy the comfort of a home while traveling. THIS was the best B&B experience we have ever had! What made it SO great? Put simple: -The food was outstanding -The room was so comfortable -Hank and Wiley are so warm and wonderful - such great hosts -The jacuzzi was spectacular -The views amazing -The energy so calming -Oh, did I mention the food? We have stayed at some nice B&B's over the years; Piney Hill is the best yet. The location is beautiful, surrounded by rolling farmlands, Blue Ridge Mountains on the horizon, fresh air, and starry skies. If you like the Shenandoah Valley, you will love this location. And the hospitality could not be friendlier. Hank and Wiley are masters of B&B service. They clearly enjoyed helping us relax and enjoy ourselves, cheerfully offering good information and assistance for planning our excursions in Luray. As you will see in other reviews, the breakfast is delectable. "Two thumbs up" for Piney Hill!

On the Jan.09 recommendation of Lisa Cubbage (Jordan Hollow Stables), we immediately booked at Piney Hill. From start to finish, Hank & Wiley made our vacation get-away/elopement very special. We can't thank them enough for their hospitality. Having never met them, we arrived already feeling very welcomed. They physically opened their B&B doors while opening their arms to us. We truly felt at home. We stayed in the Rosebud Cottage, but went over to the main house each day to talk with them. We're sure they were busy keeping up their magnificent house, but they never hesitated to stop & talk with us. Words cannot express how magical & perfect our stay was at Piney Hill. Hank & Wiley go out of their way to make sure all their guests are comfortable (thanks for the extra heater!) & have every amenity they desire. Their housekeeping skills are unsurpassed & their decorating is divine. The views from all over the property are fantastic because its setting is perfect - just outside the main town, but certainly central to anything you want to do or see. Breakfast & afternoon baked treats are amazingly delicious. The congo squares & lady fingers are superb...but so are the pecan french toast, breakfast quiche, chocolate raspberry cheesecake, oatmeal raisin cookies, mixed fruit parfait, berry sorbet, & mixed berry pancakes with fresh fruit. Be sure to visit their Red Antiques Barn for those extra-special gifts to take home with you to remember your trip by. Just like Lisa Cubbage made our "vacation desination of choice" the Shenandoah Mountains, Hank &Wiley made Luray, VA & Piney Hill B&B our "vacation reservation location of choice." We can't wait to return & visit with Hank & Wiley again in the summer. My honey and I take little weekend getaways several times a year to refresh. This was our first time staying in the Luray area. I found Piney Hill - and Hank & Wiley - on one of the B&B websites and was blown away by the home just from their website. Upon arrival, the place, the house, the room, the innkeepers, the setting exceeded my expectations 100 fold. Every detail was so carefully executed - so much time and attention, not to mention the obvious passion and joie de vive for their home and guests. From dinner reservations, to conversation, to the spectacularly appointed room, to the breakfast presentation (oh my goodness, go for this reason alone!), Hank and Wiley were superb. For us, having genuine, kind, warm folks provide so much hospitality was the highlight of our trip. This wonderful home is just minutes from the quaint town of Luray, but also close to the other activities on our itinerary: Horseback riding, Shenandoah Caverns, wineries, antiques, and the Meems Covered Bridge to name a few. We left with more than a weekend of memories, and we will return to see our new friends soon!

I surprised my girlfriend with a stay at the Piney Hill B&B to celebrate out 1st anniversary together. What a great choice! We absolutely loved it! Our room (the Emma Rogers Room) was cozy and bright, and the breakfast Hank made was amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area and gave us great suggestions of things to do. Unfortunately, we did not get to meet Wiley during our 1 night there, but we look forward to meeting him the next time we stay at Piney Hill.

No details were spared and they took perfect care of us. They gave great suggestions on places to have dinner. Breakfast at Piney Hill was flawless. The Walter Rogers room was "Martha Stewart" worthy. Our favorite was the hot tub in the back that overlooked the mountains. You will be blown away by their friendliness and adorable home! Our stay at the Piney Hill Inn was outstanding in every way. When my wife and I left, we were already thinking about when we could go back! The wonderful innkeepers Hank and Wiley made our stay a truly unforgettable experience. Breakfast each morning was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. When Hank and Wiley found out we were going up to Skyline to sightsee, they suggested that we take a picnic lunch from West Main Market and gave us a book of short hike descriptions. Both of these were invaluable, and we loved the hiking so much that we stayed up there all day. When we returned to the inn at mid-afternoon, there were little treats waiting for us that hit the spot after a day of exercise. Hank and Wiley recommended the Artisan's Grill, which was also a great suggestion. Returning to the hot tub each day in the cold nights under the stars was the perfect end to two great days in Luray and Shenandoah National Park.

As soon as we entered the driveway, we were so impressed with the landscape we knew we had made a great choice. Hank and Wiley made us feel so welcome that we adopted them right away as family! They gave us excellent choices in dining, town activities and a wonderful place to worship on Sunday. You could not ask for a better place to stay, and we promised we would be back and we'd NEVER break that promise!!

Wow, what an experience! April and I visited Piney Hill B&B for the first time November, 2008. This was our first B&B experience. Hank and Wiley have a beautiful home and they go above and beyond to ensure their guests enjoy their stay. April and I caught ourselves multiple times saying, “lets go home,” when referring to the B&B. Piney Hill felt like home without the usual hustle and bustle of our lives. It was a very relaxing weekend. The hot tub was placed perfectly on the side of the home, with views of mountains as far as we could see. The breakfasts, oh where do I begin, I believe Hank and Wiley were chefs in their last life, because the meals were out of this world. Not only is Piney Hill going to become an annual tradition, but Hank and Wiley have set the bar high for any other B&B we could potentially visit. Thank you again for your hospitality and making us feel like family. We can’t wait to visit again.

My husband and I were married on October 25, 2008 and decided to go to the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia for our honeymoon. I found Piney Hill on the internet and decided to make a reservation for three nights. What a great decision! Piney Hill is a wonderful place and the proprietors, Hank & Wiley, are even better. They have a beautiful home that is warm and cozy. We stayed in the Rose Bud Cottage, which is a separate cottage on the property. Guests can either eat breakfast in their dining room with the other guests who stay in the house, or do as we did, and have a picnic basket full of breakfast goodies delivered to the porch each morning. What fun! It was so neat each morning to wait for the basket and hurriedly open it to see what would be in there that morning. Oh my goodness! Their cooking/baking is awesome!! And beautifully presented also! The cottage was also decorated in such a fun way that you could look around forever and always see somethng new. Hank and Wiley have thought of every little detail, which makes for such a pleasant stay. They are meant to be doing what they are doing! My husband and I spent a lot of time away from Piney Hill doing tourist type things, but it would be fun to go back and just stay there and relax and get to know Hank and Wiley better. They are great! They were always so willing to help us with information about the area and where to go, eat, etc. We had such fun and I fell in the love with the area and can't wait to go back. I hope to go back in warmer weather so that we can enjoy the deck on the back of the cottage which has a beautiful view of the mountains and surrounding farm land. Don't hesitate to stay at Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast -- you won't regret it!

We have been going to Piney Hill almost since it opened in 2000. There's a good reason we keep returning: the friendly innkeepers have created an oasis! Delicious and generous breakfasts, spotlessly clean rooms, fantastic location for antiques, nature, crafts, sports, dining, country drives. We return home relaxed and recharged. I can't recommend Piney Hill highly enough.

I decided to suprise my husband with a trip for our first anniversary. Neither of us had ever stayed at a B&B before, so I thought we would try it! We could not have asked for a better "first time" than what we had at Piney Hill!!!!!!! Hank & Wiley were fabulous hosts!! The accomedations were incredible!!!! The food.........off the charts!!!!!!! We stayed in the cottage, and despite cool, foggy/rainy weather had remarkable views...and we got to enjoy the coziness of the cottage. We can't wait to go back and would highly recommend to anyone who wants/needs a quiet get-away!!!!!!

We have enjoyed the surroundings of Piney Hill B&B on a few occasions, but we have to vote for Autumn as the greatest. I booked my stay at the Piney Hill B&B to spend a relaxing weekend after a long week of work meetings and events. I had never been to Luray before and, after having read the wonderful reviews, when I found that they had availability for the weekend I wanted to visit, I jumped at the opportunity. It was everything I had wanted. Not only are the hosts, Hank and Wiley, extremely welcoming, their property is beautiful and inviting. Breakfast was heaven on a plate. Their porch, lovely landscaping and friendly cats make it an ideal place to relax. The bed and linens were very comfortable and sattelite TV is in each room. All in all, aside from uncooperative weather, it was a great weekend and I look forward to returning again soon.

Having lodged at more than twenty-five B&Bs, our most memorable ones would be those that have gone beyond providing “a bed and a breakfast.” The ones that truly stand out for us are those whose proprietors add that personal touch. These people are personable, conversant, and tripping over themselves to make our stay in their area special. Piney Hill B&B would be on our short list of memorable B&Bs. Hank and Wiley are the consummate proprietors!

Our daughter and her new husband gave us two nights at a B&B they picked out online (based on reviews) and boy, were the reviews right. Piney Hill's location meant that we planned a couple of trips into Shenandoah National Park for short hikes (less than 15 minutes away), went tubing in the river, and visited Luray Caverns. After every outing it felt like we were coming back home (a home that had nice bathrobes hanging up and a great hot tub in the backyard). Breakfasts were excellent, and our hosts made afternoon cookies and even dinner reservations for us in town. Ah, what a nice little vacation!

For our 10th anniversary my husband, Mike, surprised me with a wonderful trip to the Piney Hill B&B. It was our first B&B experience and it was outstanding. Wiley and Hank are the most gracious hosts and amazing people. They made our stay at the B&B even more special then it already was. They were more then accomadating for us and made sure to make our stay extra special by leaving us treats and a special dessert in our room. The breakfasts were out of this world and the "entertainment" from Hank and Wiley was a great start to our days. I can't remember laughing that hard in a long time and I haven't since we left. They have the most wonderful personalities and they make you feel so at home and so welcome. Just thinking about them makes me miss them and wish we were heading back now. I would highly recommend Piney Hill to all friends, family and any stranger I see. Thanks to Wiley and Hank for the most amazing B&B experience. I'm sure no other will ever measure up!! Thank you!

My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice weekend get-away to spend our anniversary. We could not have picked a better place! The Piney Hill Bed and Breakfast provided at welcoming atmosphere from the first second we arrived. We felt right at home, and definitely enjoyed the environment and food. We would recommend this inn to all!!

Piney Hill has become our favorite B&B...after only one stay. Not only is the inn beautiful, but the innkeepers are the best hosts I've ever come across. The views are incredible. And the food is outstanding. Love it, love it, love it!

We weren't sure exactly what to expect, but were pleased beyond our expectations. Located further out in the country than we expected, we were happy for the added privacy. Nothing was too far a drive and the amenities were first rate. Don't go expecting to diet. We were greated with fresh baked goods every day and between the cheese and fruit platter that greated us and the large breakfasts, we had no need for lunches. We just snacked in the afternoon. We were there only a few hours when my wife started to plan our next trip. We had a much needed and appreciated couple of days of down time. We will be back.

After a 7 1/2 hour stressful and tiring drive down Route 81 from Syracuse, NY, we found peace and relaxation at Piney Hill B & B. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and at home. Hank and Wiley are the most hospitable and fun innkeepers we've met. They were very helpful with directions, restaurant recommendations, and made sure our every need was met. We enjoyed the social interaction with them but were given privacy when we chose to have it. The hearty and delicious breakfasts they prepared exceeded our expectations. The charming house is uniquely decorated with antiques but very comfortable. They have a lovely yard with all kinds of flowering plants and trees. We loved relaxing on the porch and enjoying the awesome views of the mountains and pastures and the scent of the lilacs. I can't say enough about their wonderful hospitality and exceptional service. We'll definitely go back!

THE BEST - For years, my wife and I alternate surprising the other on our anniversary weekend a weekend at a selected B&B in a differnet town in the state of Virginia. After this past anniversary weekend at Piney Hill and traveling around Luray and Front Royal, this has been the best ever B&B EVER we have had the enjoyment to be guests at. From the 5 star breakfasts and room my wife and I never knew life could be so wonderful as quests. Heartbroken after experiencing a sudden loss, my husband and I tried to return to the daily grind of raising two young children while working and running our household. We needed a break. Time away together - just the two of us. I love the Blue Ridge so my husband chose Luray. A quiet, Virginia, country town with lots of charming attractions that is tucked away amoung pastures and mountains. The views there are the best the Shenandoah Valley has to offer! Hank and Wiley are so welcoming. And their decor is inspirational as is the story of their farmhouse's restoration. They are truely talented decorators and innkeepers. The Country Barn and Antiques and Gift Shop is a true find! It's a classy, expertly arranged shop. Soft music playing, perfect lighting and the best antique finds around. I was so pleased by their Gift Shop! Outstanding. When I woke, the most beautiful views of the Blue Ridge greeted me. The room was charming and the breakfast perfect. Recovering from a broken heart, my husband joined the others for breakfast but I requested breakfast in bed. Hank and Wiley were happy to ablige. They treated me to the most beautiful breakfast tray complete with fresh flowers. We selected a movie from their large collection. Hank, noticing that we were settling in for a movie night, provided a large bowl of butter popcorn. The quiet. The scenery. The hospitatlity. The decor. The mountians. It's no wonder we found peace at Piney Hill. Hank and Wiley worked hard to restore a historic Shenandoah farmhouse and they artfully share it with their quests. We know they will enjoy every success! My stay at Piney Hill B&B was one of the most enjoyable, relaxing, wonderful experiences I have ever had! Hank and Wiley are such charming and wonderful hosts, that you feel like family from the moment you arrive! If you are vegetarian or vegan, you are in for a treat! Hank and Wiley make delicious vegan breakfasts! Also, if you are a cyclist, there are tons of beautiful rides you can do in the area...with smooth roads and fantastic scenery! My fiance and I absolutely loved our stay here, and would recommend this place to all couples! The Piney Hill B&B is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway!

Everything from booking our stay to planning activities was so simple. The inn keepers, Hank & Wiley, were very friendly and inviting. We felt genuinely welcome in their home, and by the end of our weekend, they felt like good friends, rather than inn keepers. The views from the cottage and property were breathtaking. Hank & Wiley provided us with everything we needed during our stay, including directions and advice on the best local spots to dine. The breakfasts were amazing. There was obviously a lot of thought put into them. They were truly gourmet. In addition to breakfast, the cottage had been stocked with assorted drinks, candies, coffee and tea. Wiley & Hank also baked quite a few batches of cookies during our stay, and twice brought out a plate to us, as well as invited us into the main house for more. On the second night of our stay, they prepared a chocolate pecan tart that was out of this world and brought 2 slices out to the cottage for us when we returned from our dinner. We stayed in the Rosebud Cottage. It was an amazing experience. The cottage was so beautiful and homey. I had chosen the Romantic package and the roses and chocolates that came with it were amazing. Additionally, they had put down artificial rose pedals on the tables in the cottage. They were laid out perfectly. As soon as we arrived Wiley showed us the house and the cottage and made sure we had everything we needed. The cottage also had satellite tv and a dvd player. The main house had a wide variety of dvd movie selections. Their recommendations for places to eat & activities during our stay were right on. Wiley suggested the trail that I chose to propose to my fiance on. It went perfectly. The whole weekend was perfect. It wouldn't have been the same with out Wiley, Hank & Piney Hill.

Piney Hill is truly a hidden treasure nestled in the beautiful scenary of the Blue Ridge mountains. Every time we stay, I feel completely re-energized. Hank & Wiley have perfected the art of inn keeping. They make you feel at home and make sure you don't leave the breakfast table hungry!!! Our third stay was just as wonderful as our first. We definitely look forward to our next visit in the spring. Can't wait to hold down the front porch with a rocking chair and just relax!!!

My wife and I chose Piney Hill B&B as our fifth anniversary getaway. What a completely amazing experience. Right from the reservation to until we left, everything was beyond excellence. Hank and Wiley are two of the greatest hosts we have ever had and showed us what true hospitality meant. Right from welcoming us, showing us the way around, providing so many small touches, a truly amazing breakfast and the breathtaking view, Piney Hill B&B was an absolutely incredible two nights. We stayed at the Rosebud Cottage which is an independent cottage a few steps away from the main house. Needless to say, the cottage was extremely well done and made us feel right at home as soon as we set foot in. My wife and I would definitely recommend this place to everyone and can safely say that you will have a truly great experience.

There are many things to do in Luray, but I have to tell you that the professionalisms of these guys will totally surprise you. The meals are out-of-this-world. I have traveled the world and have stayed in some amazing lodgings but none with the customer service provided at Piney Hill! Hank and Wiley are truly without comparison and masters of their craft. They are genuinely friendly and welcoming but run a very professional and extremely comfortable home. No stuffy dining hall here....bring your jeans, t-shirts, slippers and enjoy the best breakfast in Virginia. Forget what you "think" you won't eat....Hank will make you fall in love with food again. Highly recommended!

This weekend was such a wonderful experience. The innkeepers took care of every tiny detail to make this a romantic memorable weekend. The food was cooked to perfection and brought to us in a picnic basket each morining, how awesome! The cottage was so cozy and just enough room for two people to never want to get out of bed. There was a huge selection of movies to choose from. We were offered suggestions of cute little restaurants to go to and winery's and flea markets to check out. The scenery out the back of the cottage was breathtaking and the hot tub a perfect ending to a long day. We can't wait to go back and visit again soon!

The only thing that could have made it better would have been a longer stay! From the first welcoming hello to the "good bye-come back soon" wave from the front porch, Hank and Wiley were exceptional hosts. They were attentive, but not intrusive. They took such good care of us so we could relax and enjoy Piney Hill. Wow...Great Breakfasts!!! The breakfasts were always beautifully presented and yummy in the tummy. We also loved the late night homemade pound cake. Our room was beautifully decorated and "at home" comfortable. Piney Hill is a great escape. We shall return!!!

My boyfriend and I just got back from a night at Piney Hill and I have to say that it definitely lived up to my high expectations. Especially after reading hundreds of ravings about the place, I was really hoping for a place that my boyfriend, who is extremely private, would feel comfortable in. It was perfect. We've both been in the restaurant and hospitality industry for years and can recognize and appreciate good food and service. We only stayed one night there, but it was long enough to feel very well cared for and welcome. Considerate touches were made when we weren't watching such as turning down our sheets and placing chocolates on them when we went out for dinner, and we felt Hank, who welcomed us, was very attentive to our needs. The room had a great view, a warm fireplace and satellite tv with movie channels. We spoke to Hank at length and could tell that he had an admirable work ethic, as well as good culinary skills if breakfast the next morning was any indication. The room and bathroom were both immaculate. Our two favorite things about this day trip were probably Hanks company, and his french toast!

First, the InnKeepers, Hank and Wiley, are amazing! They go above and beyond to cater to your every want and need! Second, the property is BEAUTIFUL! The views from all sides really take your breath away. Third, their attention to detail is unmatched. Everywhere you turn, there is another creature-comfort. Warm, fuzzy robes, little games to play, tons of movies to watch, little snacks laid out for you, DELICIOUS country breakfasts, gorgeous decorations (inside and out). We stayed in the Rosebud Cottage and it truly was a little slice of heaven! We are so glad that Hank and Wiley and even "Tri-pod" the kitty cat were there to make our experience at Piney Hill one in a million!

My partner and I stayed at Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast soon after it first opened, and we have been back to stay many times over the last 6 years. The house is so warmly decorated -- which is also a reflection of the Innkeeper's personalities. I say Innkeepers, but we actually consider them our friends. They have been treating us like family from the first time we walked through their door. We generally visit 1 to 3 times a year. We have met some great people during our stays. Sometimes it's just the two of us, but we've also taken family members several times, and we've also booked the whole house with friends a couple of times. It is a great place to unwind from the stress of work and everyday life in D.C. or to visit and catch up with friends and family. We love all the rooms, but our favorite is the Rosebud Cottage. The cottage is so spacious, private and relaxing. We usually have our breakfast delivered to the cottage unless we have booked the house with friends; then we eat at the large farm table in the dining room. Wiley & Hank usually try to change up the breakfast menu or ask what some of our favorites from previous visit have been. We also like the fact that the Bed & Breakfast is close to many different things. We love to head out on the country roads, exploring and taking in the sites, hitting the antique and pottery shops along the way. We will continue to visit the Luray area, our friends Wiley & Hank and Piney Hill B & B for many years to come.

We choose Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. This was our first visit to a Bed and Breakfast and we didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised with the decor, yummy food, hospitality and refreshing aromas of a fresh apple cake baking. The attention to detail was unbelievable and amazing!! We even had a very nice anniversary card waiting for us in the room. We felt as though we were with family and not amongst strangers. Hank and Wiley made this experience unforgettable!! They will be seeing us again!!

We visited Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast during our honeymoon get-away through the Shenandoah Valley. I finally married the man; my best friend, that I have loved from the moment I met him. It was such fun shopping in the Piney Hill Gift Shop for things to decorate our new Master bedroom and hot tub suite. The great photos C.T. took during our stay as well as the wonderful memories will be treasured forever. Wiley & Hank; the innkeepers, made us feel so at home. The breakfasts each morning were awesome and could not have been more perfect. The other guests were most enjoyable and we enjoyed the social time with them during our stay. We will definitely return to Piney Hill and highly recommend a stay to anyone looking for a romantic and relaxing setting.

We stay at Piney Hill once or twice per year and it keeps getting better and better. Wiley and Hank continue to upgrade the appointments and offerings without ever loosing the comfortable and casual atmosphere that makes this a place to return time and time again. However, book early -- many more people are discovering this great bargain.

I had never been to a b&b before and was a teeny bit hesitant since my boyfriend and I are young (20’s) and unmarried, but the experience at Piney Hill was amazing. I will definitely try to go back! The innkeepers (Hank and Wiley) are friendly, kind, knowledgeable about restaurants/sites/wineries/shopping in the area, and do everything to guarantee a wonderful stay at their beautiful house. I had also heard that b&bs can be strange since you feel like you’re intruding in someone’s home, but that was not the case at piney hill at all. It felt like an incredibly personalized, warm hotel stay that also included a delicious breakfast. Over 2 mornings, we had poached pear, pumpkin pancakes, quiche (they even made a special vegetarian one for me!), lemon-poppyseed loaf, fresh fruit, coffee/tea/oj, etc! They always offered 2nd helpings, and it was all scrumptious. They even have a little counter of candy corn, chocolates, and little snacks, as well as chocolates and cereal in your room! They also have a hot tub and a pretty extensive collection of dvds/vhs tapes to watch in your room. The area was very rural and beautiful. We had a great lunch at a restaurant Hank and Wiley recommended (A Moment to Remember?) but we didn’t enjoy dinner at the one Mexican restaurant in town (the food tasted terrible, the daiquiri was even worse, and there was a hair on my boyfriend’s burrito). I would suggest asking Hank and Wiley for another option!

My husband and I stayed in the Rosebud Cottage at the Piney Hill B&B for our 2nd wedding anniversary weekend. From the moment we pulled into the drive I knew we had found a small piece of heaven on earth. Hank and Wiley were more than wonderful and made our stay one we will not forget for years to come. The food they prepared was excellent and I even took some of their recipes home! They arranged a couples massage for us that was exactly what we needed. Hank and Wiley were so helpful in sending us off in the right directions to explore. They made reservations for us at the Artisan Grill where we thoroughly enjoyed a romantic dinner by candlelight overlooking the main street in the little town of Luray. Afterwards we relaxed in the hot tub peaking at the moon through the weeping willow branches. Truley a remarkable place and I would reccomend a stay at Piney Hill B&B to anyone looking for a little piece of heaven on earth. We look forward to spending more special occasions nestled on top of Piney Hill!

Our stay at Piney Hill B&B was extremely enjoyable. These guys can cook! Every day we had a different delicious breakfast that looked like something out of one of those gourmet magazines, it was so beautifully put together. Lots of goodies to snack on later, too (chocolate chip cookies, brownies, apple cake...yum!). The rooms were so nicely decorated with antiques and knick-knacks, you were always noticing something new. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, too. The inn is set in a nice quiet area, with a lovely view of the mountains, yet not too far from the town. We loved the cats, they're absolutely adorable. Wiley and Hank make you feel right at home, they were very helpful with info about the area, and were just perfect hosts. I only wish we'd had another 4 days to spend!

This was our second visit to Piney Hill. Piney Hill has been my only B&B experience, but I can't imagine anyone doing it better. Staying at Piney Hill with Hank & Wiley is like staying with friends - and friends who happen to be excellent cooks! I always feel welcome and comfortable. The beds are so cozy, I slept better than I have in months. One of my best memories is sitting in a rocker with my boyfriend on their front porch with a glass of wine. The country house, beautiful landscape and amazing view makes it such a romantic setting.

My husband and I recently spent a weekend at the Piney Hill B&B. It was the perfect getaway and one that you can do without a lot of forward planning. Hank and Wiley have lots of suggestions as to how you can pass the time complete with maps of the nearby hiking trails and menus of nearby restaurants. They really go out of their way to ensure that you enjoy every minute of your trip. We loved waking up in the morning to the soft sound of cows in neighboring fields and viewing the idyllic landscape from our windows. Breakfast is absolutely delicious and just what you'd want before a big day of hiking. We had a wonderful weekend with Hank and Wiley and would happily return!
