Jane Hall McChesney: Named for the wife of the first owner of Stoneridge, the room is on the second floor of our 1829 home with a view of the mountains in the West. Decorated in black and white toile with touches of burgundy, the room features a queen bed, an antique hooked rug in soft rose tones, a separate seating area, original heart-of-pine floor, and a private bath with a shower over tub.Wilma Evans Matthews: Named for a previous owner of Stoneridge, the room is on the second floor of our 1829 home with a view of the mountains in the West and overlooking the large front meadow. Decorated in sunny yellows with blue accents to highlight the hydrangeas theme, the room, with original heart-of-pine floor, features a rice-carved mahogany four-poster queen bed, a marble-faced gas-log fireplace, two comfortable upholstered chairs, and a private bath with large shower.
James Clark: Named for J. Y. Clark who purchased Stoneridge from the McCluer family in 1884, this room, our largest, is on the first floor of the north wing. A private enclosed porch opens onto the outdoor patio. Also known as the Garden Room, this room is decorated in soft greens and peach tones and offers views of the mountains, forests, meadows, and gardens to the West and East. The room features a rope-carved cherry four-poster queen bed, elaborate wainscoting, a whirlpool for two with view of the beautiful gas-log fireplace, and a private bath with a shower over tub.John McCluer: Named for a previous owner of Stoneridge, the room, located on the second floor of the south wing, is reached by outside stairs leading to a private balcony. From this spacious yet cozy room, decorated in blue and white, guests are able to watch the sun rise in the East and set over the mountains in the West. The room features a rice-carved mahogany four-poster queen bed, gas-log fireplace, and a private bath with a whirlpool for two and a separate shower.
Nathan McCluer Suite: Named for the first owner who built the main house in 1829, the suite, located on the second floor of the north wing, includes a private balcony with a view of the mountains in the West. Elegantly appointed in earthtones of taupe, beige, brown, and gold, the suite features a master bedroom with a queen bed and a whirlpool for two with view of the gas-log fireplace. Two highback arm chairs by the fireplace provide a cozy place to read and relax. The suite also includes a small second bedroom with a built-in couch that converts into a single bed. There's a reading room, private bath with a shower over tub, and treasures gathered by the Stallard family during their travels in Europe.Innkeepers (l-r) Jim, Sandy, John and Evelyn Stallard ...and Sam (cold nose, warm heart).
Appetizing aromas are always drifting from the Stoneridge kitchen. In the morning, it's the smell of freshly-brewed coffee and John's breakfast creations. And in the afternoons, arriving guests are welcomed by the sweet aromas of Evelyn's baked delicacies.Living Room — Located on the first floor of our 1829 home, the room offers guests an inviting and comfortable place to enjoy the company of others or quietly read a book. Also known as the music room with a parlor grand piano, guitars, and antique violin and clarinets, the room features oil paintings from France and etchings from Germany. Sherry is always available for guests in the evening.
