My wife and I spent a weekend at the Magnolia House Inn. It was everything it should have been: beautiful rooms, fancy breakfast, nice location, friendly and very considerate hosts.

The Magnolia House was lovely. The inkeepers, Jan and Tim, were very gracious. The breakfasts were the best I have had at any B & B. It was in walking distance to town and many nice restaurants. I would recommend this B & B to everyone.

Innkeeper Response
All guests are invited twice to tell us about breakfast needs: once, in our confirmation letter before they come, where they are asked to tell us of any breakfast foods they don't eat; and again when they arrive, they are asked about any breakfast food issues. When preferences are expressed, either we change the menu for everyone, or we prepare a substitute for the people with special requests.

The black wrought-iron front gate is just wonky enough to let you know you are about to enter a magical space. And the English cottage garden filling every inch between the sidewalk and the house welcomes you with open arms. On the front porch are... read more

Review 1868 Magnolia House Inn, Lexington, VA

Enjoy freshly brewed coffee before breakfast; take a mug with you to the Parlor, out on one of the porches, or back to your room.Varied breakfast menus always include fresh fruit, orange juice, and coffee--besides the main course, which may be Eggs Benedict, Blueberry French Toast, an Omelet filled with cheese, ham, scallions and tomatoes, or some other tasty treat. In colder months, a fire burns on the dining room hearth, while in warmer weather, the windows open to views of the garden.
Azaleas bloom in the side garden in late April and early May.The parlor is furnished with an oriental rug and classic-yet-comfortable furniture surrounding the working fireplace with its polished brass fender and brass candlesticks and objects on the mantle. A massive cherry bookcase--with its collection of antique books, and vintage family photos--dominates the room.
Our deluxe Lexington Room offers a gracious period ambiance with a leather wing chair and a settee/chaise, a king four-poster bed, a gas log fireplace, and a Jacuzzi bath--all with first floor convenience, Wi-Fi access and air conditioning.
The Sunshine Room is bright with pale yellow walls, and classic with oriental rugs, a pair of wing chairs for comfortable reading, a queen bed, private bath, Wi-Fi and air conditioning.Hunting prints on the walls and a huntboard beneath the mirror set the theme for the main room of the Equestrian Suite. An antique coverlet hangs beside the four-poster bed, while a recliner and oversized chair flank the gas-log fireplace. Shades of burgundy and green, and a reproduction Empire barrister bookcase lend classic grace.

One of two suites, the Equestrian also has a second room, decorated with country pieces, and a private porch, as well as a private bath with a shower/tub combo.
