My wife recently treated me to a surprise birthday "getaway" weekend at the Stonewall Jackson Inn, in historic Harrisonburg Virginia, smack dab in the middle of the beautiful and historic Shenandoah Valley. Wayne, our Innkeeper, and his professional and friendly staff, Jonathan and Cassandra, made the weekend wonderful. The Stonewall Jackson Inn is a lovingly restored late victorian mansion and the rooms are gorgeous (we stayed in the Stonewall Suite). Based on the staff's suggestion, we dined at the wonderful "Chop and Grill", where not only was the food great but our server explained that most of the selections were locally grown and in season foods. In the morning, we were treated to Eggs Benedict d'Wayne..Mmmmm on the sunny veranda. My wife Rochelle enjoyed our bedding so much we ended up purchasing a set of the sheets! (the best I've ever slept on) A delightful stay with delightful folks in a charming and historic B&B.

We had a wonderful night stay at the Inn. The staff warmly welcomed us and took care of all our needs. I was unable to make this website' stars work correctly, but it was a 5 star stay in every respect for a B and B. we stayed upstairs in the Jeb Stewart room and it was very quiet. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented.

College drop-off for our daughter to JMU coincided with our 29th wedding anniversary so we decided to step it up a notch from the usual Holiday Inn Express. The Inn was a delight. We felt like close friends with the innkeeper from the moment we arrived. We stayed in the J.E.B. Stewart room and had the most comfortable bed ever. Each room has their own temperature control which is a plus. All of the standard hotel amenities were included (iron/ironing board, hair dryer, soaps and shampoos). The only thing that made me want to get out of bed were the smells wafting from the kitchen. Our breakfast was served on the beautiful outdoor deck. We cannot think of one thing that could have been changed to make our visit any better. Thank you Wayne, Johnny, Kass and Jonathan.

We have stayed at many B&B Inns and some measure up and some less so. In the case of the Stonewall Jackson Inn, it was a complete pleasure. The accommodations were clean, the service was pleasant and cheerful, and breakfast was real food. Would we pay a return visit ... you bet.

The inn is quaint with lots of nooks indoors and out for private conversations and relaxation. Breakfast is served on the terrace under awnings and the innkeepers leave water and sodas in a refrigerator for guests. The inn keepers were kind and made us feel very welcome. We were able to walk to downtown restaurants and sites. Incidentally, I am not a person who appreciates quilts, but the Quilt Museum in downtown Harrisonburg is absolutely amazing if you appreciate art. The quilts on display demonstrate the ability to create images and moods using a mosaic of tiny scraps of cloth and even smaller stitches holding it all together. The farmer's market next door is wonderful too. We also stopped by a nearby Lavender Farm (try the ice cream!) and went to the American Shakespeare theatre in nearby Staunton, which was about a 30 minute drive. Beautiful, scenic mountain area with plenty to do for a romantic or family/friend bonding weekend.

Even before we got to the Stonewall Jackson Inn, the innkeepers sent us the most welcoming email I've ever gotten from any business. They assisted us in making dinner reservations for our anniversary before we came to town. Once we arrived, they were great about showing us directions around town and making suggestions. The room was very nice. Highlights: incredibly comfortable bedding, a great view of the mountains in the distance, pretty furniture, and lots of Civil War/local history books. There are a couple of hammocks on the property and a great veranda covered with climbing vines & twinkling lights. Easy walking distance to the town. Breakfast was so good I'm still thinking about it a couple of weeks later! The innkeepers were extremely personable and kind throughout our stay and check out was a breeze. It beats a chain hotel any day of the week and we'll definitely return the next time we're in the area.

My husband surprised me with an anniversary get-away to historic Harrisonburg. The accommodations at the Inn were superb, and the inn keepers , Steve & Mimi were so friendly, making us feel so "at home". Our room was very nice, the bed being one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Jonathan's breakfasts (served on side patio) were superb. Meeting Wayne was a delight too. Everything about our stay was truly memorable; I would love to return.

Travelling from Canada to a golf event in Richmond we decided to stay overnight at this welcoming historic downtown home . Jonathan met us in the driveway to help with luggage, get us checked in and oriented and pointed in the right direction for an evening dinning experience. Breakfast on the back porch was superb. Everything about our accommodation and experience was first class. We would definitely return. Room Tip: Large room on main floor with private entrance was excellent.

Seriously, this was the most comfortable bed that either of us have ever slept in. Our stay was short and we got in late, but everything about the Stonewall Jackson Inn felt warm, welcoming, and we immediately felt right at home. I called the morning of and talked to one of the guys on the phone about our late arrival, when we got there there was a note on the door with my name and instructions on how to find our room and where to meet them for breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was delicious and everyone at the Inn was truly welcoming and the stay was a delight. I only wish we had reason to stay longer.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Stonewall Jackson Inn Bed & Breakfast and we couldn't have been happier with everything. Mimi and Steve were very helpful in checking us in, they gave a lot of great recommendations for places to visit and things to do, and were always smiling when we would come by. Breakfast was one of the best I've had in a very long time - everything cooked perfectly, serve at the proper temperature and time. Got to meet Wayne, who had a great time just conversing with the guests in the morning, which was wonderful to see. All the staff (Mimi, Steve, Wayne & John) were always smiling, asking if we needed help and just generally making us feel welcome and appreciated. We will be back again!
