The Hummingbird Inn, a Victorian Carpenter Gothic home completed in 1853, sits across from the old C&O railroad line and was once a hotel and boarding house for people taking the train to Goshen. Let us welcome you with warm Virginia hospitality!

The yard and barn behind the Hummingbird Inn at sunset. Our rustic 1780 den is in the old post and beam part of the house. Guests enjoy relaxing and visiting in front of the fireplace during the cooler months and watching TV, playing games, enjoying a glass of wine or lemonade! Check out the wifi computer for local restaurants and activities!
Our most popular room, the Alleghany is on the second floor in the oldest part of the house. Spacious and sunny, this room offers a queen size canopy bed, a loveseat and wing chairs, a heating stove in the fireplace, and a huge bathroom with whirlpool tub. Look out the windows to the side gardens or the trains that go by out front. Our deck overlooks Mill Creek, a restful babbling brook that is home to trout and other fish. We occasionally see a blue heron flying by. It's a great place to while away an afternoon, have a picnic, sip a glass of wine, or build a fire in our outdoor stove on a cool evening.
Want to relax... take a nap... snuggle up on our down-feather sectional and you won't want to get up! Franklin Room, named for FDR and situated just behind our Eleanor room (where Mrs. Roosevelt stayed in her 1935 visit to Goshen). This cozy room offers a queen size 4-poster bed, chairs for reading in front of the heating stove, and a bath with whirlpool tub and shower. Look out the back window for a view of our barn and the 150 year old boxwood tree.
Our sunny solarium is a favorite place to curl up with a book on a sunny cool day.Our spacious first floor guest room, Teter-Wood offers a private bath with shower, a stove in the fireplace, a queen-size bed, reading chairs and access to a private side porch. This is the perfect room for those who have trouble climbing stairs, or for guests bringing their pets.
The sunny second floor Robinson room features a queen size iron bed, a Victorian heating stove, a chaise lounge for relaxing, a mini suite with a private bath with shower. A private door onto the wrap-around veranda to watch the hummingbirds!
